Bottle of Sol Food's salad dressing
Lindsay B.

Pretty much everything here is delicious. I am favorable to the delivery because I would rather not scour for a parking space, then wait in line to order and wait again for my food. It's well worth the wait but I would still rather not. I will recommend that you give everything a try at least once, even the breakfast, the specials of the day and the desserts.

Choripan. Nothing special chorizo, ham and Swiss.

Called in an order for pick up. The package was ready when I needed. Great service and the price was actually lower than the website by a few bucks. But yea this is my third and final time eating at sol food. All the food was overdone, chuleta deep fried but no sign of any crispness and super hard. Boneless chicken bland and overdone as well. Choripan, I could of used my molinari salami and costco ham to make at home. One of the cups of beans was half missing?!? That was weird and there were no spills in the bag. Plantains too, need a serrated global knife to cut. My jaws are sore from all the chewing. Expensive too. Just because I'm a chef doesn't mean that a regular person can't roast a chicken to medium well and keep the juicyness. 165 is the standard but no way that will be good. Two little pieces of boneless chicken rice, beans and salad, $13. You can get a whole rocky chicken at Safeway for $9 on sale. This was $40. For two people. Sorry ok, two things good, their hot sauce and surprisingly their rice, a bit oily but very soft.

The take away station

I came here on a Saturday night with the intent to dine in. The line was ridiculously long so we just went right next door to the take out station. I had the Bistec sandwich and this has been the best sandwich I have had so far in the Bay Area. The steak, avocado, onions, sauce...it was all just so perfectly combined. I wish they would open a location in SF!

Poncho. Pollo Frio Sandwich.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG BOOOOOOOMMMMBBBB! I've never had Puerto Rican food before & I've been missing out. No joke. Went here to pick up lunch since a couple of my cousins recommended it. I ordered the Sandwich De Ensalada de Pollo FFrio which is roasted 'free range' chicken mixed with carrots, celery, mayo & fresh lime served on french bread with organic greens, tomato & pickled pink onions. I would eat this sanwich for lunch EVERY single day if I didn't live in WA. I'm just sayin' ... it IS that good. For $8.95, it's a steal! To drink I got the Ponche which is half mango iced tea and half limeade. On the menu they have the "AKA" as "Arnoldo Palmero," lol. So refreshing & good! They have a sit down restaurant & also around the corner for the restaurant they have a place where you can place an order to-go. We went with the "to-go" route since for a Sunday the restaurant was PACKED! It took a little while to get our food but for how good it taste I would wait FOREVER, again... I'm just sayin' When I go back to Cali (which is a given) I will for sure visit this place again & again & again.

Plantain chips. Salted. Bomb garlic dipping sauce

This is my girls favorite restaurant. We went here after hiking Mount Tam so we had an appetite worked up. The first thing I noticed was the lime green paint on the building and the letter framed at the door of a neighbors complaint about that color. Hilarious. You order and pay and wait at a table. She had bistec sandwich and I had the San Juan. Both were great. I'm glad I ordered the smaller size because I had to help finish hers. We also had mariquitas, these fried plantain salted chips with chipotle salsa for dipping. Very tasty. They don't serve alcohol but I saw the orange juice squeezing machine so I had to order fresh OJ. She had the limeade which was actually more refreshing than the OJ. For my first foray in to Puerto Rican food I enjoyed it. If I gave this place any less than 5 stars I might get socked in the arm. Haha.

Yum!

Needed salt. Hype is in the unusual menu and the cute atmosphere. I wouldn't go out of my way again.

Lots of local items, organic options, GF & vegan choices, with pleasant merchandising / atmosphere. I LOVE their bulk section - you can also get things like tea, olive oil, soap, etc. in bulk. Plus their supplements & natural skincare selections are great. Even when I'm not grocery shopping, I'll stop by to get food here. They have a ton of options and they make it to order. Love.

Banh mi Ba was closed today because they aren't open on Tuesday so I decided to get a sandwich from the Good Earth deli. It was meant to be a tofu banh mi -- It was on sourdough baguette with a pair of massive slabs of baked tofu. I give them credit for the delicious Japanese style pickle, but there simply wasn't enough of it and the scanty slices of daikon were OK, but ultimately this was better as a salad without the bread and added vinaigrette myself. Those chunks of tofu were undeniably tofu, but it was just not a great sandwich experience. The funny thing is, I had asked a couple of men dining outside the grocery store. If there was anything they recommended at the deli. They both told me what they had ordered and suggested requesting extra barbecue sauce for the brisket because it's quite dry. I was not expecting my tofu sandwich to be so dry but also soggy. I'll stick with Banh mi Ba for my banh mi -- and try other things at good earth going forward. Also, I just want to note that last November on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, my tire was vandalized by somebody who stuck a knife into it twice in on purpose purposes of the sidewall. They do not have cameras on the parking lot and even Fairfax police said "oh well we can't take reports for things that happened on private property" which honestly makes me wonder what they do when somebody breaks into a house or does something on "private" property. Does that mean laws are not enforced on private property in Fairfax? Stay tuned.

Not knowing anyone in the area and living in a 2 bedroom apartment we decided to outsource thanksgiving to Woodlands Market in Kentfield. We had shopped a few times at Kentfield and were very pleased with our experience so figured this was the ideal place to try takeout Thanksgiving. The pickup process was very convenient, they had a tent outside with multiple people helping customers. They walked through the order list show each item on the order list to make sure there wasn't anything missing, also they helped load items into the car. They even had snacks to offer, they made the atmosphere for pickup very nice ! We did their small turkey and assorted sides with desert option as we wanted some left overs. We were very happy with our choice !!! The sides were packed in aluminum containers which made re-heating very easy, the turkey was pre cooked so just needed to reheat. They provided instructions on how to reheat everything. Only thing I would change was I would of foiled the turkey top 1/2 through the reheat. The funny thing is when I went to throw out the box that the meal came in there was 2 boxes in the dumpster from others in the same dumpster from the apartment complex. Clearly we weren't the only ones overall this was a great experience and am going to order through them for Christmas as well.

The staff here was personable, sparking up conversation and super friendly. We ordered two sandwiches, and I was surprised at how great they were. The sourdough bread was tangy, the meat was sliced super thin (which somehow makes it taste better?) and all the veggies were super crisp and fresh.
