Insulting to call it "Mexican food". Better off goin to taco bell or Pollo Tropical. The food is horrible. Mole is Tangy and bright tan, the Pork had 75% fat on it, the Beers overpriced, Salsa was made w old tomatoes, Tortillas were microwaved served warm, tacos bathed in grease, Seafood Fajita was ok, but it takes about 1.5hrs to get it served, Service no good, Wait was worse. My party of 6 was crammed into small booth. Great place if you have no idea what real Mexican food is, you wont be let down, (SARCASM). Boy they use to be 1:2 way decent but not anymore. Was looking forward to the shredded pork black beans and rice now they only serve when it's on special - what? Then looking forward to at least the tres lechee nope. Dinner took forever to get and it's not that they were packed at 6:00 pm on a Saturday night. Never had a bad meal here. Granted, most of the food is the heavy duty, weight gain 3000, make you go to sleep Mexican food, but they do it well. Place is always crowded, but they turn over tables in an efficient/non-shovey way that gets people in quick. Had the fish tacos for the first time ever on my last visit and they were incredible. Light, with grilled fish, Talapia I assume. Nice side sauces and served with a choice of Caribbean beans & rice or the Mexican version. Was the lightest thing I've ever had there, but the beans & rice as well as the chips still worked to make me sluggish in the afternoon. But this is a great place, just be ready for a nap. read more

I'm not going to take away more than 2 stars for one bad experience but it absolutely put a bad taste in my mouth after LOVING this restaurant so much. Me, my fiancé and his mom went to La Bamba one night because we were getting together after the holidays. Like I said, we love la bamba and never really had a bad experience. The server was nice, she greeted us and got us our drinks, took our order, etc, until a big group walked in and then we never saw her again. We got a quesadilla and needed sour cream and had to flag down a random server to get it for us, no big deal, we got it. We ordered another margarita with her, said she was gonna order it and she walked away. Flagged her down 20 minutes later to ask where it was, she said she was going to get it and she NEVER. CAME. BACK. Mind you, she was serving the 20 person party RIGHT next to us and never came back. I grabbed the manager, told him we no longer wanted the margarita, we wanted the check and to leave. The manager NEVER. CAME. BACK. I walked to the front, asked for the check, and he gave it to me and assured the margarita was not double charged. The margarita was never ordered. I told him I understand that big parties are important but we had been sitting there a while without being served. She never came back to the table. She never apologized for being inattentive. I understand how busy you get with a huge party- I used to be a server, but maybe our table should of been transferred to another server given she couldn't handle the load. The manager was making excuses, letting me know the server didn't feel well that night. I understand- we all have our off nights. But wouldn't you make sure the one table who hasn't been seen in 20 minutes is taken care of? I'm not looking for a hand out, I'm looking for an apology because I'm in the business and know how it works, never received one. As much as I love La Bamba, id rather go somewhere where the guests matter more than making excuses for why the server did not seem to care about our table anymore. read more

Solid Mexican and Spanish food. I LOVE their chips and salsa. I usually wind up getting arroz con pollo which is chicken on the bone (white or dark meat) with yellow rice and plantains. Always good here. Their margaritas are ok. Their tacos, fajitas and enchiladas are good. I like that you have options other than just Mexican food. And they make a good chicken soup. This was my second time at a La Bamba Mexican restaurant and as it is good food I still think Rocco's Tacos is better. We went for cinco de mayo so of course the wait was over an hour. Totally expected for the biggest Mexican day of the year. As always they provide complimentary chips and salsa for the tables. The salsa was horrible though. Tasted like there was rubbing alcohol in it. The food was good. I got a burrito. El Locco Burro I believe it was called. It was suppose to come with guacamole but they ran out! Their pitchers of Margaritas were a good deal. My boyfriend and I managed to get 8 rocks glasses out of it for $25. Of course Id go back there again but like I said before if I had the choice I'd head to Rocco's instead. read more

This was a really good place to eat, we weren't expecting it to turn out so yummy. The salsa seems like it is made fresh for the chips. The food quality and quantity both were good. The drinks did pack a good punch to them. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. The place does get crowded so get there early for dinner if you can. Overall we had a good meal. The arroz con pollo came out a little different with a whole boned chicken breast but the taste was good. The meat was not smelly but nice and soft. I am glad they ask you the preference of dark meat or white meat when you order. I would defi recommend this place. read more

This is a pretty good little Mexican/Latin place tucked away in a strip mall. Not something you would find easily unless you were looking for it. I came along with the promise of margaritas. Their house margaritas are good - friends who knew the place ordered and I stole a drink of theirs - but take time to read the menu. They list the nicer ones first and throw the house margaritas in the middle - so I immediately started looking for $9.50 which I thought was cheapest. Apparently I can't see the difference between 9.50 and 6.50! I got a Skinny Margarita because it was made with lime. It was good, but the house margarita has more tang to it. Food is just OK - pretty forgettable fare. We tried enchiladas, an avocado salad, and a taco. Quality is OK. Pretty much OK food. I wouldn't come back for it - the margaritas and free chips and salsa are the good things here. read more

A Friday after work stress relief session. Disappointing that there's no Friday Happy Hour, this is Florida after all, but the drinks and salsa still managed to flow. The beer offerings were your standard Mexican brands, so of course I ordered a Yuengling, $2.50 a mug. Ordered nachos, beef & cheese. The beef nachos looked like each nacho was individually prepared, kind of like oysters on the half-shell but with nachos, both orders were consumed so I take that as a thumbs up. Karen was our server and with 10 people and probably 7 different tabs she did a great job of keeping our glasses full. I went to La Bamba Margate yesterday for the first time and the food was absolutely delicious. Not sure if it was because I didn't eat all day in preparation for La Bamba, or not. The problem started when I was violently awoken at 2am with bubble guts. I could not leave my bathroom for more than 10 minutes without racing back. After the first 2 hours of toilet torture I took Pepto Bismo and that didn't help at all. Fast forward 10 hours later, in extreme pain and my guts are still up in arms. I had to call off work today and I will have to go to the hospital if my butthole keeps bleeding. This is worse than Montezuma's revenge. read more

Absolutely the best Mexican/Spanish restaurant in Broward County. I've been eating here for years and you can't beat the quality and quantity of food you get for a very reasonable price. Always start off with a cheese quesadilla. My favorite dishes include the Carne Asada a la Tampiquena, which is a huge skirt steak, accompanied by a cheese enchilada, rice and retried beans. It's fabulous. Also, love the Pollo a la Plancha. A simple grilled chicken breast smothered in onions. Served with black beans, rice and sweet plantains. Always quick. Always delicious. There is a reason why this place usually has a line past 7 p.m. every day of the week. It's rare to find a place with a large menu that actually yields good food. I think I've had almost every dish on the Mexican side of the menu. The Flautas are one of my favorites (with ground beef). You never want for more food. The portions are huge. Plus, they give you endless chips and salsa (sweet and spicy) to enjoy before and throughout the meal. The Margaritas are awesome and you can get them on the rocks or frozen... and they aren't stingy on the tequila either. Their Spanish food I find isn't AS good as their Mexican, but I still have enjoyed many of the dishes. I even love their refried beans, which I rarely like at other establishments. Great Service, prices and good food. Everyone who works here are so friendly, I can't say a bad word about the place. Their Margarita Menu is extensive - honestly too many types to chose from, it took me 10 minutes to decide. The only issue I had is the with the portion size of the Chicken Soup that I ordered that tasted delicious - the bowl size was too small it look more like a cup size. I'm talking eye-popping, mouth-watering, orgasm-inducing food......What's the word??......DELICIOUS. Ordered an appetizer and a meal...and I LITERALLY never do this..I ordered more food when I was done eating. Not to take home, to eat there. Service was fantastic. Actually had multiple issues with the check and the food but all were handled with such class that you feel like a chimp for being critical or taking down a star. The server was the nicest person to me since that stripper at Cheetahs...he was being so attentive I have higher standards for my girlfriend now. This location is just okay. Pros: The food is fine. The place is clean. The prices are very reasonable. Cons: They have WAY more staff than they need here. Most of the staff are just standing around chatting all the time. Usually is appears as though there are more staff in the pace than customers. Strange. In addition to having too many servers, the servers that actually wait on the tables are not very informed, friendly, or helpful. Sometimes they are downright rude. The parking is a bit of a nightmare. They are right next door to an Office Depot, but it's a small strip-type plaza so there is very limited parking directly in front of the restaurant. Summing it up: The Oakland Park location on Federal Hwy is much better. I usually travel all the way out there if I want to visit a LaBamba. This location just doesn't compare. It's the service and salsa that I look forward to at La Bamba and this location just doesn't have the best of either in comparison to the Oakland Park location. We only visit this location if we're in a rush. Even then, we think twice. read more

First review on Yelp, but wanted to share our exceptional experience this night. One of many visits through the years, but our most recent was for a 40th Birthday celebration with 30 guests. Wish we knew names personally to thank, but have to say, our expectations were exceeded with the service. As a former waitress many moons ago, i have never seen such a smooth and organized service for such a larger party from drinks served and kept refilled, to dinner hot and no mistakes, tentative care and fun for all. Even with the bill, which can be trying with that many people, they handled it with ease. Everyone had such a great time and the waiters and waitresses joined in on the fun to make it special. Short Story: Average Mexican Food. A few nice Spanish dishes. Lots of Seating. Great Service. Long Story: We arrived for lunch around noon. The place was moderately busy - but there's a ton of seating available. By 1pm the place was mostly filled. We were seated in the blue dining area and were promptly greeted by a server, who served us fairly quickly, with a smile, and accurately. The Food: Salsa: A . The salsas were very fresh - both hot and medium salsa are served with the tortilla chips) Chips: C+ . The chips were thicker (not light), not warm, and kinda broken up - very average) Chili Con Carne: B . The Chili con Carne was warm. It was served with onions and melted cheese. I wasn't big on all the onions, and the chili itself was average. Arroz con Pollo: B- . I was expecting chicken with rice. I got a cut of dark meat from a roasted chicken with yellow rice thrown over it. To be clear, they serve the chicken on a bone with rice over it. That's not exactly the kind of Arroz con Pollo that I prefer. If I wanted that, I'd go to Boston Market and get a whole chicken for $6 and get a side of rice to go from this place. Anyways, I was expecting some dark meat (not on the bone) with some rice. That's how most Spanish restaurants serve it, at least. Flan: C . The flan was room temperature. The consistency was average. The sweetness was average. It didn't melt in your mouth and didn't beg to be eaten, so I took a few bites and passed on the rest. Tacos: They looked good, but I didn't try them. Thank goodness because I was in the mood for some mexican food today and it just so happens, I was right next to La Bamba! Now, I will confess that I actually tried to go there last night, but got scared when I saw the line that practically wrapped the building. Sunday at 3pm was a much better pace for me (and my growling stomach!) i had read the chips and salsa were the best. I was somewhat skeptical and knew that Mexican food would be the most difficult to please me. You see, I'm from Houston where the best of the best Tex-Mex exists, AND I lived in Mexico City where the ONLY authentic mexican food exists (no one can duplicate it) so I am a total Mexican food snob. The salsa WAS fantastic. I mean, we demolished the first 2 bowls and then later demolished the third as we poured it on our food! It was so good! In the interest of making this review short and sweet (too late for that!) I'll just list the best parts: Salsa - awesome Fajitas (beef and chicken) - great quality with lots of onions and pepper w/ fresh quac too Beef Taco - superb (with homemade shell) chicken enchilada - YUM! Room for improvement: Service! Granted I think we just got bum luck because the other waitresses seemed to be great and very personable. My salsa actually had more personality than my waiter. He was a complete dud. AND SOOOOO SLOW! Tortillas! They reminded me of Mission flour tortillas that you buy at Publix (Even I don't buy those unless I'm in a major pinch). I'm not saying they have to make their tortillas (even though it would be awesome) but at least buy some that taste a little more authentic than the super thick flour ones.... That's it! This is my local mexican restaurant. It is pretty standard americanized mexican. Nothing I have had food wise has been exceptional but not bad. The salsa is good and comes in regular and hot. The menu has a little more variety than some mexican joints there are spanish specialties again good but not exceptional. It is popular but seats always seem to be available. The crowd is local and diverse, frequently there are fairly large parties. Service is prompt and courteous. Now for the best part inexpensive, well made strong margaritas. The bartenders seem to make them as if they would be drinking em themselves. read more
