So as I do, I'm going to give you the straight-up view on this place. Let's start here. This is not Cuban food. Not even close. The owner was sitting there while we were there, and to be clear, she's Colombian, not Cuban. That matters when you're claiming a Cuban spot, especially in South Florida where people actually know the difference. Now the coffee. I ordered a colada and it came out ridiculously sweet. I'm talking over-the-top, almost undrinkable. We had to reorder it with less sugar, and they didn't even offer to replace the first one. That alone tells you a lot about how they handle things. Then the Cuban sandwich. They put mustard and mayonnaise on it. Let me say that again. Mayonnaise. On a Cuban sandwich. That is straight-up wrong. As a Miami native, I'm telling you, that's an abomination. If you grew up around real Cuban food, you already know that doesn't fly. And if you're defending it... I don't know what to tell you. Lol. Look, I'm not trying to be harsh for the sake of it. But when you call yourself Cuban in a place like South Florida, there's a standard. This place doesn't meet it. Pork sandwich was season well with grilled onions... The skirt steak was okay I personally don't like that cut of a steak, so I can't give a review on it. I can say it was seasoned well. Was a little hard to find, food was ok, but I definitely don't think it's a legit Cuban spot in south Florida. I didn't hear one Cuban accent from any of the employees lol, and that just usually doesn't happen in South Fl. When you grown up in a Cuban family and visit them in Miami throughout your life, you just know these things. Overall it was ok. Maybe if I was in the area and needed something quick, I'd go back. It seems like it's difficult to find a great place for Cuban coffee in the Ft. Lauderdale area so I'm happy to have found Cuban Cafe. They serve delicious coffee, pastries, breakfast and sandwiches. There are couple of things to know: parking kind of sucks and there's not a lot of room inside but it's still worth it. The cafe con leche is HOT and sweetened just right. The jugo de mango con leche is my favorite drink and Cuban Cafe makes it perfectly. I ordered the Breakfast Special which is served with 2 eggs, bacon or ham, cuban toast, homestyle potatoes, and a Cuban coffee. This reminded me of a home-cooked meal. The homestyle potatoes had so much flavor and the Cuban toast was just what I needed to soak up the yolk from the eggs. Cuban Cafe is a bit of a drive but I know I'll leave satisfied. read more

This place gets packed!! Make sure you go during off peak hours if possible. We circled a few times before we were able to get a parking spot. Now onto the food. Delicious!!! We came to Cuban Café because we were in the mood for Cuban sandwiches and it was the closest Cuban restaurant from where we were. They have four star reviews so we thought that it is a great place to try. The café is located in Powerline in the industrial/ warehouses district, so this place has absolutely no frills to it. It is a tiny little hole on the wall, when you think about what a hole on the wall really means this is something that will come to mind. They don't have any tables you sit at the counter and they have a bar with stools across the way, where a couple of more people can fit. They have a fool food menu however which is good they prepare everything from scratch in the morning and whenever he finds out he ransacked I wanted to try their soup but by the time we got there he was already gone, as well as the special of the day which was some sort of oxtail dish. We had Cuban sandwiches with tostones and fried yuca. Everything was very tasty my Cuban sandwich was on point. This is a very hard 4 stars for me. It is more like three and a half, but I decided to round up because the food was great and the service and conversation was also great. It's like you are at the barrio talking to everybody even though you may not know them. It's like that famous place that you want to go where everybody knows your name! everyone leaves their worries out the door and become very friendly when they come in which I love. I do have to mention that the place is grimy. I saw all the servers washing dishes and wiping down counters and so on, but the overall place needs a good scrubbing from top to bottom. It feels greasy I know that it's an old place and it is a hole on the wall, but I feel that it could be cleaner. That is my only complaint. Otherwise this is a wonderful place that should be given a fair chance as any small local business should. read more

If I've ever hit a place on Yelp that I would consider highly over rated, it's this place. It's nothing but a hole in wall of Cuban, mostly takeout food joint located next to a tile shop that does their tile and stone cuttings in the parking lot which assures your car of being completely dust covered by the time you've finished eating. The parking lot is also nightmarishly small, cramped, and with most of the patrons driving pickup trucks who really don't seem to care about denting your car with their truck doors or adding to the multitude of dents they already have in their work vehicles. As for the inside ambiance, divey at best. The dinning is counter only with no table seating. The food however is very authentic Cuban, but just because it is authentic doesn't mean that it is good. Cuba itself has bad food and some not so good restaurants, and if this place were in Cuba, its authentic Cuban food would definitely fall within the not being very good category; low end bottom of the rung of Cuban cuisine. I've tasted a few of their selections here such as their oxtail and their black beans. The best I can say about those, is that I've had better; much better. On this occasion, however, I went for their Cuban sandwich, figuring that would be pretty good but as far as Cuban sandwiches go, it wasn't. The bread was fine, perfect Cuban and nicely pressed but whatever they used for ingredients, particularly the cheese, rendered it into being the blandest tasteless and least flavorful Cuban I've ever had. With the food being nothing but subpar authentic low end Cuban, the horrid parking and the counter only seating I can at best only go One Star as Two Stars would simply be too much of a stretch. read more

Our company employees have been buying food from here since 2011 and never any problem until yesterday. Their delivery guy dropped off extra food and drinks around 9am. Around 2pm, he called saying I gave you an extra sandwich and two drinks and I'm coming to get the $17 for it. EXCUSE ME? The employee that placed the order told him that the food is still sitting here and he is more than welcome to come pick it up but no one ever shows up. This morning the guy calls again about the food and we told him that the food is still sitting out here for him to come pick up. So the guy just shows up here and gets aggressive with two other employees because he felt disrespected that the old food was left outside on the floor by the front door and then demands that someone pay him for a juice that spilled and was discarded. He realized he wasn't getting anything from us so he exits our building and threw the drink and food at our office door and leaves. Are you serious? All this chaos over less than $5 cost of food and packaging material? Juan, your guy wasted more time and money driving back over here and almost had the police called on him. This place is the definition of "hole in the wall" restaraunt. I used to come here for lunch very often, and just went back after about 3 years. The quality of the food has not changed from excellent, but perhaps has improved even more. The same staff is still there, who are always very friendly and polite. This place knows to get busy, even though it's tight inside everyone appreciates the quality of their food. From the sandwiches, empanadas, croquetas and everything else I've tried on their menu -- they cook with a really authentic Cuban flare.
