The ropa vieja was salted heavier than I am accused, but I don't use salt at home, so may be a normal amount of salt for everyone else. We ate at Latin Bohemia around 3 PM on Sunday. There were about 5 full tables and one server. I really enjoyed my chicharon de pollo it's a great alternative if you don't eat pork. The Mojito that they have to dip the tostones in is delicious. My daughter enjoyed the chicken fingers as it was a big portion for kids which I appreciated. I asked Anna our server, what I should get as far as coffee and she suggested I get a cortadito because it was less strong than colada. It was exactly the right amount of caffeine I needed for an afternoon pick me up. It took a while to get our food but once it arrived it was well worth it. Anna is a kind and helpful server. This place was completely empty when we arrived, so I was slightly concerned about the quality of the food and service, but I was pleasantly surprised! The mariquitas were freshly fried and served with a well made mojo. The picadillo, frijoles, arroz y vaca frita were all cooked very well, but the maduros missed the mark for me as they were rather dry. I think they used frozen ones instead of fresh? The only other thing I would have changed would be to add raisins to the picadillo, but that's just how my family makes it. I wonder why it was so dead inside at 6:30 on a Thursday? My significant other and I were in town for my birthday and we're on the search for a local spot for good Cuban style sandwich. I didn't get a chance to take a photo of the lunch menu(it did have photos of the sandwiches side by side to the name). Although I'm unsure of what we got, I did opt for the sandwich made with sweet bread(cut diagonally) and the other sandwich cut into quarters is what I believe to be the Miami or special. The Long: Been coming to Latin Bohemia Grill for a few years now since it is located fairly close to my job. We usually will come here when the boss(who is Cuban) is in town from up North to get his Cuban food filling. They have all your traditional Cuban food favorites so you will have no problem finding any item. I typically go for the pollo a la plancha (grilled chicken) with rice and black beans. It comes with sautéed onions on top and is pretty tasty. When feeling extra fat, I'll grab some tostones(fried bananas) and a pastelito to go. As for the staff, they are also OK...nothing out of the ordinary. The reason for the 3 stars is cause the overall experience is just that, OK. I would maybe bump it up to a 3.5 star just for the food alone but unfortunately I can't do that on YELP. This place is always hopping. It's good for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Prices are relatively inexpensive, portions are large (always take leftovers home) and food is cooked and seasoned well. It's not fancy so it's a great place to come however. You'll tell by the tables of police and workmen as well as those dressed up after church that it has a wide range of appeal and customers. Today we got their lechon asado (roast pork) which is marinated fall off the bone pork roast pulled apart in pieces then lightly fried and crisped. It comes with a mess of cooked onions. You get your choice of two sides. I got Moros -- which is rice mixed with habichuela (homestyle red) beans. For my other side I got fried sweet plantains. The pork was so tender and flavorful. The plantains nicely caramelized, the rice addictive. I will have another meal, at least from the leftovers. I should mention that everyone gets a comp bread basket of pressed flat warm Cuban bread. It's a good appetizer or to use as a food pusher and gravy sopper upper. For dessert, we shared a "regular" caramel flan (they have other flavors). This traditional flan came on a bed of caramel sauce with a dollop of whipped cream and a cherry on the side . We had to draw a line down the middle of the flan so we didn't fight over our "fair share". Next time I'm getting one all to myself!! Service is good. It helps if you speak a bit of Spanish but most everyone has decent English skills as well. Take out and counter service is available. They have a daily specials board, too. read more

The Latin Bohemia Grill doesn't look like much from the outside and, for that matter, doesn't look like much from the inside either. But, as in you can't judge a book by its cover, you can't judge the food of a restaurant by its appearance. When it comes to basic but really good with large portions at incredibly reasonable prices, this is the best I've ever come across. It pretty much has a diner atmosphere about it, it isn't flashy, doesn't have any flare, but the food is great and the prices they charge are so low as to almost make you feel like might be robbing them. They have a full very complete menu, basically Cuban, with a selection of specials posted on a board. I went for the pea soup, $4.50, and the lamb in wine sauce, $7.95. The soup was thick, totally delicious and came in a good size bowl. My lamb consisted of a shank, being one of the biggest lamb shanks I've ever seen, nearly swimming in a delicious wine sauce accompanied by Cuban bread, butter, a big salad and plantains. I mean really? All this for $7.95??? What a deal! I didn't think I could eat all of the lamb, there was so much, but it was so good that I did. Should you happen to go to Latin Bohemia and see it on the special either as "Lamb in Wine Sauce" or as "Codero Al Vino," try it, you'll love it. Also, the plantains were delicious, sweet to the taste, and my salad, besides being large contained onion, crunchy fresh cucumber, tomato, some red cabbage and carrot. Having a full delicious meal then having my tab for it only coming to $13.20 including the tax, you can bet I'm a big fan Latin Bohemia even if it isn't much for décor, atmosphere or location in what is a less than marginal strip mall. read more

Latin Bohemia offers a great blend of Cuban and Caribbean food. I personally love their skirt or palomilla steak. It's always cooked just right and I normally go with their side salad and sweet plantains. The location is tucked in a strip mall off Powerline Road. They don't have any outdoor seating but they have plenty of room inside. They are very accommodating to large parties. It's normally fairly crowded but they can usually get you in quickly. The service is okay. They do try to bring out the food very quickly. However, the servers rarely check back on the table. Often you have to ask for something a couple of times before they complete the request. It always takes a long time to wait for the bill. I wouldn't recommend if you want to take someone to a spot that really shines in South Florida but I do think it offers quality food. It's a good, casual lunch spot. read more
