This place reminds me of a dinner I was blessed to frequent, as a child, with my grandfather. That was back in the mid '70s. Super clean, fast and courteous service, and fast delivery. From sitting down, to sliding the plate away...20 minutes, tops! My hash was beautifully cooked. Perfectly crispy on the outside without the middle being dried out and chewy. Home fries were more of the same...excellent. The eggs, sunny side up, were perfect (you'd be surprised how hard it is to find sunny side up eggs, cooked correctly, around here!) This is a small, local establishment that the neighborhood should gleefully support!

We had a decent lunch here -- it's not at all fancy. More like a luncheonette/diner frequented by many of the working guys from the local area. We came for lunch while my husband's car was being serviced nearby. The small restaurant was quite busy inside midday and the tables turned over several times as we ate. Although they specialize in Latin cuisine, we didn't feel like a big meal. They had a few blackboard specials in addition to their menu. My husband got a hamburger with house-made potato salad. It came with lettuce, tomato, and onion. He said it was a pretty good burger. I had their grilled mahi sandwich with crinkle cut fries. It was okay, but not a choice I'd get again. I've driven by this building many times as it sits on the corner of Dixie and Prospect. I'm glad we finally got a chance to try it. Now we know.

This is my go to when in Fort Lauderdale and want a great breakfast. Ask for Lidia she has been serving me for years. Food is excellent, and restaurant is always neat and clean.

Went there for lunch/late breakfast with friends. It was raining hard, so the back of the parking lot was flooded, so I had to drive around slowly to get a parking space that was ok to use. The lady waiting on us was nice and friendly. This is what our group ordered: - Mahi Mahi salad - nice piece of mahi on top of a romaine lettuce salad with rings of raw onion on top and dressing. It was good. - Western Omelette - It was filling and large. - NY Strip with rice and plantains. Not good. I asked for a medium rare steak and it came to the table Well Done. The rice was good, but the plantains were not sweet nor ripe, they were hard and tough. Not a place I would go back anytime soon for Latin food.

Small place but it was packed. Coffee was delicious and wait staff was friendly. Food came out hot and fresh and the hot sauce they have were very good. Wish they offered shredded hash browns instead of patties but it was good non the less. Overall nice coffee and good food that's cheaper than options on the beach.

I ordered this food while waiting at my mechanics. Never been to this place or herad of it. Food is really really good. I ordered the skirt steak with rice and plantains. It came with pico de gallo. It was very fresh and very good. Hate the cheap plastic silverware. Hard to cut steak. I will go to again if in neighborhood again

Two scrambled eggs with cheese, and two slices of white toast with butter.

This was my first time here and it was a cute/old school type of restaurant. They serve Breakfast (ALL DAY), Lunch, & Dinner. I wasn't that hungry so I ordered two scrambled eggs with American cheese (it would've been nice if they had actually scrambled the eggs with the cheese instead of just placing the cheese on top)..and two slices of white toast. (My meal was delicious)! Overall I as satisfied and I will come back

Cb hash, real country homemade home fries with onion and peppers, and I added slice tomatoes.

The food was ok. The ambiance was mm... and the service was alright. Overall if you want something quick to eat which I did. There you go

Description We can across this place, well my husband did on…read moreIG a few months back of someone showing the cheesesteaks so we finally got a chance to go. As soon as you walk in you smell the smell of pizza. We were greeted by the owner who was kind and we had conversation with. He mentioned how he from Maine and his family has been in the restaurant business as well as himself for basically his whole life. Once you walk in there's a cashier where you can order and to the right there's a fridge with water sodas and different root beers you can get as well. Once you order there's an entrance to the left with tables and arcade games with tables where you can sit and dine in. I appreciate everything you did for us brian and it was a pleasure meeting you and getting to try the food your restaurant offers. We will be returning again due to the deliciousness of the food we tried the drive from Miami was worth it. What I ordered/tried From Brian's Boston beef sandwiches part of the menu we had north shore 3 way beef Boston beef. This is not my to go choice but it was amazing I would actually go back to try this again. My husband loved it and so did I. It's a bit spicy like very mild where you feel the spice but not where you're regretting life and needing to drink something. We also tried the Philly cheesesteak. This was definitely worth it as well. My husbands stated to being on a mission for the best Philly cheesesteak which is why we ended up here and says this is first spot at the moment and I don't disagree. We also tried the Batman and robin which is like the Philly cheesesteak but it has chicken in it as well. This was as delicious. The truffle fried with garlic aioli was a hit as well and finally two desserts a strawberry cheesecake and chocolate cake made by his wife who is a pastry chef. Both were good but the chocolate cake was *chefs kiss*. Value The value for the food is comparable to other places. Nothing expensive or out of this world and worth the size of food received. Ambiance/Crowd We went mid rain so it wasn't full people were mostly doing pick up or to go orders from what I saw. It's a casual place so leggings jeans is a good attired. There are a few arcade games that can be played including a two player pac man game. Service The service was great? Expectacular? Amazing? These words don't even describe the amazing service we received. We met and spoke to Brian (sorry for not know the spelling) who is the owner and from Maine who spoke to us a little bit about the opening of wicked cheese steak and was very nice to have conversation with. The two workers in the kitchen were kind as well. Parking The restaurant is part of a shopping center so there is free parking we went kind of during the rain so the lot was fairly empty but I'm not sure how it would be on a normal day. 6 year olds thought corner He got some chicken tenders. He says they were delicious. My husband tried a bite of them too and said they were good.

After seeing all the amazing reviews, we decided to give Mario's Catalina a try. It ended up being one of the best dining experiences of our lives. We arrived shortly after they opened at 11:00 a.m. As soon as we walked through the door, Mario greeted us like we were longtime friends. Within moments, we were getting hugs, kisses, and hearing the words, "Let me cook for you from the heart." At that point, we knew this wasn't going to be an ordinary lunch. We just had no idea how unforgettable it would become. From the very first bite to the very last sip of espresso, every single thing we were served was absolutely incredible. This wasn't just a meal. It was an experience built around hospitality, passion, and food made with genuine love. Mario started us with a light, refreshing house drink that reminded us of an Arnold Palmer, but somehow even better. It was the perfect way to begin. Then came an appetizer platter loaded with delicious beef empanadas, perfectly seasoned fried potatoes, and crispy banana chips. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and impossible to stop eating. Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, out came the family style feast. We were served beautifully prepared pork, beef, chicken, and seafood, each with its own incredible flavors and cooked to perfection. Every dish complemented the next, and you could truly taste the care that went into every recipe. To finish, we were treated to an amazing dessert that reminded us of a cross between tres leches cake and flan, paired with authentic Cuban espresso. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal. For some perspective, we're from Las Vegas, where we're spoiled with outstanding restaurants and incredible chefs. Even with all the amazing food we've had back home, this meal surpassed every expectation. My husband, who is Hispanic and can be very particular about Latin cuisine, said without hesitation that this was the best Latin meal he has ever eaten. He even tried the Cuban espresso, something he normally never drinks, and absolutely loved it. What makes Mario's Catalina so special isn't just the food. It's Mario himself. His warmth, generosity, and genuine passion for sharing his culture make you feel less like a customer and more like family gathered around his table. We loved it so much that we're already planning to come back on the day we fly home before leaving Florida. That should tell you everything you need to know. If you're anywhere near Pompano Beach and you don't stop at Mario's Catalina, you're missing out on one of the most memorable meals you'll ever have. This isn't simply a restaurant. It's an experience you'll be talking about long after your vacation is over.

We were greeted by the gracious Owner made sure we were seated in a table that we liked, and then immediately we were brought freshwater and a complementary alcohol free Mojito, which was absolutely wonderful. When our dinner was delivered at first glance, it seemed as if the servings were small. And they are too small to share, but as a single meal, it was completely satisfying. It came out warm, fresh and plated beautifully. My sweetheart and I were in the mood for dessert so we ordered the bread pudding and we were going to share it, but when the waiter brought back a dessert, it was two servants courtesy again of this gracious Owner. Define a spot like this a true oasis in a busy, noisy Jody Plaza with white tablecloths and a gracious Owner and beautiful artwork I know for sure that we will be back to enjoy more of their delicious food!
