We had a good Colombian lunch here. The location is familiar as we used to come to the English pub when it was located here. I got the special of the day (always ask during the week for it). It was quite good. The special included today's soup -- a bowl of cilantro soup. It reminded me of dal or pea soup. It was tasty. A chicken breast with mushrooms in a mustard sauce along side fluffy white rice, sweet plantains, and an interesting potato salad (with veggies and chicken). My husband got their avocado salad. It was a huge plate with lettuce, tomato slices, onion slivers, and wedges of fresh avocado. On the side was a passion fruit dressing and another one with cilantro. Service was good. I placed an order online and it was very smooth. It did take awhile to get my food once we got there to pick it up because it still wasn't ready and I only order soup and empanadas. I ordered the Ajiaco soup this past Sunday and unfortunately I was not impressed with how bland and flavorless it was. Such a bummer because I really love that soup. I have visited many Colombian restaurants, some better than others. I base this opinion on how their Ajiaco tastes like. Ajiaco for those not in the loop is a typical chicken and potatoes soup that is typically served on Sundays. Before I get to that. It is worth mentioning that this place has been fully upgraded and expanded. It is bigger, and it has a more eclectic feel, while still retaining a latin flavor. We came on New Year's eve during lunch. It wasn't busy, we were shown to a table and brought menus and water. I ordered a cafe con leche, which was really good. We placed out order and we waited, hubby's food came (after other patron's food who came after us did) My food was taking very long, and we couldn't see our waitress to ask about it. Eventually she came as saw i still didnt have food and went to the kitchen to find out what was the hold up. Finally I got my soup. Veredict, the flavor was good, but it didnt have a lot of checken or potatoes. Mostly broth, It was weird to enjoy the flavor, but miss all the other stuff. The soup does come with a side of rice and some salad. I don't eat white rice, but I had to add some to the broth for consistency. If I'm in the area, I would come back, but there are other Colombian restaurants I like more. read more

A very "gringo" friendly Columbian/Latin American Restaurant, spotlessly clean, roomy, decent up to date décor, with a top flight wait staff. The food is also very tasty, and portions are good size. Upon the recommendation of my waitress I had the churrasco steak ($12.99) with came with my choice of three sides. The steak was served upon a very hot cast iron skillet (nice touch) with wood holder a bed of red onions and at my request the waitress added some of their special chimichurri sauce. For sides, I had the sweet plantain, beans and a salad with some of the salad dressing that the waitress told me that she prepares. All in all, it was a very nice meal and an overall pleasant experience. One minor fault but one that did strike a nerve with me, fussy prick that I am, was that for a place literally named "the orchids" I was disappointed in that I failed to see an orchid in the place; not even a phony one. I mean really now! Sheeze! What a horrid let down, but I'll get over it and stop bitching about the fact within four or five years from now. The menu is also very complete with just about anything one would expect from a restaurant specializing in Columbian/Latin American cuisine. My rating is solely on take-out orders, I have tried the Bandeja steak which consists of chicharron (crispy pork skin), a thin steak, rice, beans, avocado, plantains, and a fried egg - it was very good but the steak was too thin for my preference. I have also tried the empanadas, the Pandebono (cheese bread), and chicken criolla which is seasoned chicken breast served with rice, beans, salad and plantains. The food is good, the menu is small. I have had a fair share of Colombian food but this place was a disappointment. My mora con leche tasted fermented like the pulp was expired or it was stored incorrectly. The food was served cold and bland. The pastries were served cold even though we asked if they could warm it up. The basic yuca fries were messed up. They tasted like mozzarella sticks instead. The bandeja paisas was the worst of all. The chicharon was over cooked leading to an inedible piece of pork. I feel bad for tourists that comes here thinking they're about to get some good Colombian food. One stars for fast customer service but the food definitely need to be revamped. read more

Excellent food and atmosphere, highly recommended for anyone wanting an authentic Colombian food experience for a great price

First off, I'm torn about writing this review. The food at this place was great. The cheese bread is great. The steak and the chicken with passion fruit sauce was amazing. The service was good as well. HOWEVER, the have deceptive billing practices. Maybe (hopefully), it was just our waiter and not a general issue with the staff/owner of the restaurant. The problem we had was that they added a 20% gratuity charge (we were only 4) without telling us. That would have been fine, we were happy with the service and would have gladly paid 20%. But then when we got the bill, they stuck an ipad in front us and asked how much tips we wanted to leave (10%, 15%, 20%, etc.). Without realizing they had already charged 20%, we added ANOTHER 20% to the bill (essentially paying 20% gratuity on the full bill + 20% they had already added). Granted, maybe we should have been more vigilant and checked the bill before adding another 20% tip, but we never thought they would be deceptive and make us pay an ADDITIONAL tip (without saying anything, and even urging us to hit the ipad button with added tips). Definitely shady and makes us not want to come back despite the great food. read more

This place is a rip-off. I have given this place so many chances trying to support my local restaurants and my Colombia people but unfortunately it just keeps on disappointing me. My orders have been wrong multiple times, the food quantities are not good and now I received an insult of an order (see the photo). I ordered a breaded pork and what I got was basically no pork and all bread. Please keep in mind that the place is not cheap and the services is far from good. The bakery items are not always fresh and if you don't ask they will send you cold and stiff breads and buñuelos. The saddest part is that when you have a complain you barely receive an I'm sorry and they make no effort to satisfy the customer. Never buying from here again! read more
