I saw this spot after visiting Downtown Pizza Grill next door. I had high expectations but was disappointed with my visit. Although the location was spacious and clean, the service was lacking. The person behind the counter seemed bothered and unwelcoming, which was a bummer. The empanadas were small and not the best I've had. The guava and cheese lacked, add the guava flavor but it was incorporated and was just a slice of guava with melted cheese. The meat empanada is made with ground beef, it was only okay. Compared to other places, these were smaller and slightly burned. Sadly, I won't be returning. There are plenty of better options in Broward! Still, try them out. You may have a better experience.

Lovely little spot for delicious empanadas. Lazo Empanadas has the friendliest owner who is also a plant enthusiast. He always welcomes us with a bright smile and positive attitude. The empanadas are so delicious here. They're flaky and hot and filled with the most delicious fillings. We love the chorizo, chicken caprese, spinach & cheese, and the fresh mushrooms. If you love empanadas it's worth stopping by here. You'll leave happy!
We decided to check out this place after driving by dozens of times... We walked in and the guy behind the counter looked at us with a "not so friendly face". When we said we wanted to read the menu before deciding, he just walked away to the back of the store. Finally we came out again...we placed our order and asked if they could be heated so we could eat in ... He said....."You want them heated ??!?!!!".... Like we were asking for his first born... True Argentinian empanadas are big ... these were tiny.... We ate our empanadas and I found them salty and full of MSG. I had to go home quickly after.. the empanadas just went right through me.... Next time, I'll go to Publix...about the same size at about 1/3 of the price.
Decided to give this little spot a try. Fantastic empanadas. They were out of the ground beef and spicy ground beef which are the ones I wanted. After the family decided they wanted more they said that they had one spicy beef left. It was my favorite that I tried. We will be back next time that we are in Fort Lauderdale!
I saw Lazo Empanadas when I was pulling up to one of my favorite spots to grabbing lunch. It is a pretty eclectic little spot that sells nothing but, as the name implies, empanadas. There was only one attendant I could see , and he was wearing a mask. There was also hand sanitizer for patrons to use. I was the only customer in, the attendant was very nice, he let me know they had packages and so I picked one of them. I got a Nutella/banana, guava and cheese They were good, the only thing I didn't care for as much was the burnt spots on top. As for my savory picks, I got: Chorizo (which I didn't know had egg in it) a spicy steak, steak and ground. They were out of chicken. Favor was great, but I couldn't tell them apart. They labeled them, but as far as texture and flavor, I didn't feel a big difference.. Overall though, i liked the concept, service and flavors. I can definitely see myself coming back for more.
Was excited to try these empanadas because they are vegetarian which i feel is hard to find. I ordered two of the mushroom (based on the cashier recommendations) and one of the spinach. I found the pastry was over done (had too much of a burnt flavor) and the portions were pretty small for the price. Mushroom one was better than the spinach empanada. The only problem is that there was too much moisture left in the empanada so there was a lot of juice dripping out. The spinach was decent. I appreciated the packaging and labeling of the empanadas.

Had a quick weekend getaway to Miami and really wanted to grab some empanadas. We walked into this very nice, clean establishment and the gentlemen behind the counter was wonderful. He explained the flavors and quantity orders. There were 3 of us and we wanted 3 orders of 3 that we would pay for separately and he suggested to just order the 9 pack and it would come out to less. He made sure to label all of the different flavors. They were still hot when we got back to our hotel room and all of the flavors were really good. We had the BBQ Chicken, Caprese Chicken, Steak, Steak Quesadilla and Ground Beef. All tasty and unique although the Ground Beef could have used some cheese The filling was seasoned so well and none of the flavors of the ingredients were overpowering. The crust was really good too! I'd recommend stopping by for a fresh hot Empanada.
The place is bomb! Tried them out after my best friend recommended them since she's here just about every week. It was a perfect stop to satisfy the morning hunger. I ordered 6 empanadas:spicy steak (since they we out of spicy beef), spicy chicken, and dulce de leche. The marinades in the meat and chicken were perfect and juicy with just a slight hint of spicy. The dulce de leche was perfect when you want something for that sweet tooth. They were so good I wish I ordered more. But that just means I get to come back for the rest on the menu and hopefully the spicy beef. I stopped in shortly after opening hours. These were made hot and fresh to order!
I've been living in Pompano for 5+ years and did not know about this place and I want to kick myself especially since now I'm moving on the opposite side. I was warmly greeted by the owner Nicholas, who let me Peuse the menu when spoke to me about some of his suggestions, which was awesome. I had the following with the following Guava and cheese-4/5 Spicy chicken - 3/5 Spicy steak -4/5 Spinach and cheese - 5/5 soooo good Steak quesadilla - 5/5 omg Chicken caprese- 10 to 5. WOW what a good find...friendly family run empanada cafe in a strip mall. 5 stars all around 5 star food: the empanadas were amazingly good...flaky crispy and chewy all at once. I'm a huge empanada fan, generally and these were among the best I've ever had. Spicy chicken, spinach and even Nutella ( with a Diet Coke LOL) were all terrific. 5 star service: the smiling woman at the counter was super friendly and we chatted a while about our mothers' cooking. (Hehe mine couldn't but hers could). Surprisingly she also cooked everything. 5 star ambiance: its clean and bright inside with cool art and little low tables. While at the 62nd Street Plaza picking up my hen soup from the small Latin grocery store down the strip, I spotted this empanadas place. I wondered if they were Argentinian empanadas. Nailed it! Oh so good! It was mid afternoon and fortunately not very busy because they are prepared while you wait. You can also buy them frozen to heat & serve at home. The attendant was very helpful and shared a little about the family-owned business. Then he went back to the kitchen to fill my small order of one caprese, one BBQ chicken, and one spinach empanada. Decided to give this little spot a try. Fantastic empanadas. They were out of the ground beef and spicy ground beef which are the ones I wanted. After the family decided they wanted more they said that they had one spicy beef left. It was my favorite that I tried. We will be back next time that we are in Fort Lauderdale! read more

These are definitely not classic Argentinian empanadas, but they're super tasty! I highly recommend the steak quesadilla (very untraditional but so good). The empanada was very cheesy and flavorful. Our least favorite was the chorizo since it didn't have much chorizo in it at all. I'd definitely come back to try more flavors! read more

This place was recommended by a friend since I've been obsessed with empanadas lately! I'm SO glad they recommended it because it was AMAZING! I'm pretty sure the owner was there when we went and he was so friendly and helped us with menu recommendations based off of what we like. Honestly, they have SO much choices, inclusive of vegetarian options, that it was hard to choose on my own!! I wish I had time to go back to try more flavors before we left. We got the chicken caprese empanadas and the ground beef. They were both wonderful! The outside had the perfect crunch and the inside melted in your mouth. Perfect flavors! After moving to Ft. Lauderdale from Miami it is so hard to find great latin food... especially empanadas. This place is so so good. Restaurant is super clean, prices fair for the area too. Conveniently located in a plaza right off Cypress. I ordered the bbq chicken, chorizo, beef and ham and cheese empanadas!! Oh my lanta!! All are made to order so they aren't just laid out like most places. The crust is soft but, crunchy. All flavors were bursting wonderful vibes into my mouth. It truly filled me with so much happiness!! My fav was the bbq chicken. Explosion of deliciousness!! Ham and cheese was gooey and had loads of cubed up sweet ham! Yummy!! They have about 12-15 flavors including all veggie items and dessert! Offer various sodas/drinks as well for an extra .99 when you purchase 3 or more. Say yes to this empanada restaurant if you truly want legit latin flavors!! read more

I tasted one of Lazo's empanadas at the Art Walk last month and have been trying to get to his location ever since then!! His fillings are spot on in flavor and spice. I tried the spicy chicken and it was phenomenal!! They have 16 different flavors!!!! Try them you wont be disappointed!! Thank you Nick for all your help and helpful suggestions ! You really do have the. BEST empanadas in S Florida PS, I took him mushroom, spinach, spicy steak, spicy chicken, spicy ground beef and for dessert Nutella and banana and one guava and cheese All very yummy, I would say the mushroom being my least favorite. These are not your usual empanadas, these are gourmet empanadas with quality ingredients. read more

I really liked this place. The guy that served us said that this is a family owned business. He was personable and helped us make up our minds with our selections. We each had 4.5 empanadas which was fun because we got to try several of the flavors. I liked the steak quesadilla, spicy ground beef, and the spinach/cheese one. Well... Let's face it, I like them all. I finished with a sweet empanada filled with Nutella and bananas. My husband let me try his guava filled one. both of those were great too. The other wonderful thing is that it is walking distance from the Westin hotel we stayed at. Loved the flaky dough filled with deliciousness!! read more

The best empanadas that I've tasted in sooo long. It was just what we needed and down the street from the Hampton Inn. It's a nice and small personal restaurant with a few seats to sit in and enjoy your empanadas. Prices were moderate for some really tasty empanadas. Spicy beef & Steak were the best in our eyes because of all the flavors and spices but all were edible and good. I definitely recommend this place. read more

Best empanadas I've had yet!! Its like they mastered the empanadas game!!! Tha Yelp Daddy is lovin' this joint!! The staff is super friendly, cool, thoughtful and accommodating!!!....rare in south Florida!! The spot is nice, clean and trendy. The prices-shocking at 1st until you try their empanadas then you'll be like " yeah...I get it...now it makes sense.." try them all...just ask for Nick...and tell em that Tha Yelp Daddy sent you!!! Note: If you're trying to impress your Latin date...grab some of these empanadas dropped them off...you can order ahead of time and pick up before they open...
