AVOID THIS PLACE ! I ordered 3 different plates Took waitress 40 minutes to say they didn't have what I ordered twice.

AVOID THIS PLACE!! Service and lack of organization is terrible. Food take way too long! And the customer service sucks. I ordered 3 plates of food and 37 minutes later waitress walk to the table to say the 1 thing I ordered they didn't have. 45 minutes later I still don't have any of my plates of food. Until I asked her she rushed in the kitchen to try to make food. Sat here an hour with no food. Best suggestion: EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Stopped by this little Honduran gem on a weekday close to closing time. I always like to try something from other cultures so I asked of course for a recommendation and our server offered us a sample of the Horchata. It's a natural juice of several different kinds of nuts and grains. Very yummy! The inside was so lovely and inviting. The decor truly showed heart and soul into the place. Located in the Ward City brick building off of Dixie highway. Street parking available, outdoor & indoor seating. El Portal Mayo has 2 locations: Johnson street in Hollywood and Pompano Beach We ordered to share the Super Baleada and another dish I forgot the name of. (Sorry!) The Super Baleada was flavorful to include Carne, chorizo, aguacate and huevo. Overall pleasant experience and will definitely come back.

I saw the review of this place on my yelp feed. Yes, just ONE review and I was intrigued. Here was a local restaurant not that far away that I'd never heard about. And the food looked interesting. So I messaged the restaurant and asked for a copy of the menu. He sent only one page of it, but that was enough. We came for lunch and had a "knock your socks off" meal. The restaurant is north of Atlantic Boulevard and just east of Dixie Highway and the tracks. It's on the corner of the building. There are parking spaces in front. There are a few small tables outside and several tables and counter seats inside. The restaurant itself is not very big at all. We thought we'd share their fried seafood dish (from the "sharing" section of their menu) , but it contained tilapia. We switched to the whole fried snapper after Andrea showed us the fish and told us the cost. We are so glad we did! The fish (pargo) came with our choice of three sides. We chose white rice, regular red beans (not refried) and sweet plantains. All the sides were very good, but the whole fish was fantastic! My husband added some of their hot sauce to the fish, but I just added a touch of salt and a squeeze of lime. OMG! If you are a fish lover, and know how to navigate a whole fried fish, then this is for you. All that was left were a pile of bones and the spine. They also have a number of inexpensive lunch specials. Some items are ready made and can be dished up immediately (they had ropa vieja and 2 other items). There are tacos, arepas, pupusas, tamales, baleadas, as well as soups, too, that are quite reasonable. Although they are a Honduran restaurant, many other Latin country styles of food are represented. Oh, and they even serve breakfast. Some knowledge of Spanish is helpful, but you will be fine without it. Wish we had had more room to try a dessert -- they have two types of flan and a tres leches..., but maybe next time.

My wife spotted this place that had only one review posted, but enough to entice both of us out for a lunch adventure. Close by, we found the restaurant occupying the Northwest corner of the Ward City building. Parking available on the street directly in front. They offer inside and outside seating and as we observed, plenty of take out pickups. So many lunch specials and side dishes to choose from, it took a while to finally decide on a dish we could share... Pargo, a whole fried snapper (approximately 2 lbs), that came with 3 sides; we chose rice, red beans and maduros (sweet fried plantains). I was excited to discover and ordered fresh Passion Fruit juice as my beverage. Having negotiated a whole fried fish several times, we only left the skeleton and skull on our plate...delicious! I tried and enjoyed some of their house made hot sauce on my rice and beans. If you are seeking Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, this is the place for delicious meals and friendly helpful service!

I went with a group of people I work with and we ordered before hand so that when we walk in, our food gets brought out to us. They were very nice but only speak Spanish so fyi. The food was great but they did add a little too much seasoning to my steak but everyone else LOVED their food so definitely worth a try.

They accept cashapp and zelle payments in cash you don't have cash. As soon as you walk in, the hostess is right at the entrance. We checked in our table, but the rest of our party hadn't arrived so we sat at the bar for some pre-dinner drinks. The bartender was amazing and super nice. He made some great food recommendations as well so we were excited to get to the table. Once everyone arrived, we were sat pretty quickly. There was a flamenco show going on too so there was people dancing and having a good time. The ambiance is definitely lively. For food, we decided to go with a bunch of tapas, and honestly they were all amazing. We got pan con tumaca, garbanzos con chorizo, croquetas de bacalao, albondigas a la madrillena, gambas al ajillo. While they were all good, my top hits were the garbanzos con chorizo, croquetas de bacalao and the gambas al ajillo. I highly recommend trying the 3 if you're a fan. The Spanish wines paired nicely and they had a good variety to pick from. Overall it's a great restaurant to spend time with family and friends.

We were able to try lots of dishes (it's tapas of course) and each one was delicious! My favorite was the oxtail and octupus. We were also served sangria--both white and red--which were delish! Just caution that it's pretty much valet parking and when a photographer comes around, expect them to try to sell you the photo they took, printed and framed for you. You can kindly decline! I would definitely want to come back for a date night or even a couples night out. It has the perfect ambiance for it.

We were greeted and seated right away. The menu is extensive -- plus you can look at some of the dishes displayed in the cafeteria area. They do a lot of takeout and have numerous lunch specials. Shout out to Yelp elite Lisa H who came here. And caused me to bookmark the location. The restaurant is Latin. It's a mix of country cuisines. Mexican, Cuban, Colombian, Honduran, Salvadoran, et al. My husband wasn't that hungry and decided to just have a small chicken soup. The small soup turned out to be a huge meal! The soup was excellent -- a flavorful broth and packed with all sorts of veggies and chicken with a side of white rice and plantains. He was very happy. I'd been craving a cocktail de camarones after seeing a recent Instagram post. So I searched Yelp and this restaurant showed it on their menu. I was disappointed when we came in to no longer see it on their menu. However, after asking the server about it, the kitchen was happy to make it for me. It was a very big serving -- delicious and refreshing. There were two huge shrimp on the edge of the glass plus a large lettuce leaf. Inside there were chopped shrimp pieces along with chopped tomatoes and onions, all in a red (ketchup) based sauce. It's kind of a mix between gazpacho and ceviche. They served a fresh made tostada along side. And I used some of the taco chips as well. The different daily lunch specials sound wonderful as do their taco specials. Pricing is quite reasonable and portions are large. We'd definitely come back here!
