Bohio Latin Flavors, Margate Dominican and Puerto Rican cuisine with a heavy emphasis on mofongo, and based on this visit, that's one of the reasons to come here. They offer numerous variations, with your choice of sauce and protein, making this one of the more mofongo-focused restaurants I've seen in Broward. We started with the shrimp mofongo. The plantain mound itself was moist, flavorful, and nicely seasoned, avoiding the dry, dense texture that plagues lesser versions. Ours came topped with a rich shrimp sauce, but other options included a garlic cream sauce and a Creole-style sauce, both of which looked excellent as they passed through the dining room. Of the dishes we tried, the mofongo was actually my favorite. The masitas de cerdo (fried pork chunks) were flavorful and well-seasoned, although they came out a bit drier than I would have preferred. I'd still order them again, but based on what I saw arriving at nearby tables, the pernil may be the move on a future visit. The rice deserves mention as well. The arroz con gandules was excellent, with plenty of flavor rather than simply serving as a side dish. They also offered moro rice in both red bean and black bean versions, which was nice to see. The Punta Cana cocktail was worth ordering. Sweet, tropical, and considerably stronger than it looked. The dining room is much larger than it appears from outside, but this is very much a casual neighborhood spot. It reminded me of the kind of local restaurant you'd find in Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic: a large dining room, full bar, TVs on the wall, families gathering for dinner, and the emphasis squarely on the food rather than creating an upscale experience. There's also a stage and DJ setup for live entertainment. One note: service was slow on our Sunday evening visit. After speaking with the manager, I learned she was also the restaurant's only server and that a single cook was handling the kitchen while also keeping up with a steady stream of takeout orders. Given those realities, the pace made more sense. Everyone was friendly, but this isn't the place to visit if you're in a hurry. Both English and Spanish menus are available, although the primary server was clearly more comfortable interacting in Spanish. They also feature Latin music and a DJ on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, which is probably when the room really comes alive. If you're a fan of mofongo, pernil, arroz con gandules, or Dominican comfort food in general, Bohio is worth adding to your list. read more

Great food we had 2 empanadas de yuca de carne and pollo. We then ordered rice, beans with pollo a la plancha and rice beans and carne guisado. Both had tostones. This must be one of the best Dominican food I had. Service was great very attentive. They also have great music when you come on. I will definitely come back. I will recommend if you're in the area. read more

If Yelp let me drop a 10-star rating, I would do it in a heartbeat! Bohio Latin Flavors in Margate is easily a 10/10. Our local Domino league moved our regular Thursday night meetups here from another spot in Tamarac over a year ago, and it's the best move we could have ever made. This place has become our definitive home away from home every single week. Here is exactly why this spot deserves all the hype: The Service is Next-Level: It all starts at the top. The owner, Diana, greets you at the door like family and makes sure everyone feels genuinely welcome. Then there's Marianna, who looks after our group. She is hands-down the best employee here--fast, attentive, and consistently delivers phenomenal service no matter how busy it gets. Thursday Nights are Unmatched: If you want incredible energy, you have to come out on Thursdays. DJ Bebe is on the decks spinning amazing music, keeping the entire room alive, vibrant, and packed with great vibes. The Ultimate Community Hub: This restaurant handles crowds and events flawlessly. We've celebrated massive soccer and baseball watch parties here, hosted birthdays, and gathered together as a tight-knit community for support during heavy, emotional times. Through the highs and the lows, the atmosphere here is always comforting and welcoming. The authentic Latin food is consistently delicious, the drinks are great, and the hospitality is unmatched in Broward County. Whether you're looking for a lively Thursday night out, a spot to watch the game, or just incredible food, do yourself a favor and check out Bohio Latin Flavors! read more

The food was good the service? Awful! The short round potato with the curly hair was wild to me. Orders our food at 8:03p. At 8:55 they tell my friend that they didn't have to churraso for her meal. The appetizer they told us 30 minutes after ordering they didn't have it. We had to wait. Time they delivered our food at 9:32p. Then refused to let us talk to a manager or offer a discount. One of the waitress's tried to help but that little short one with the curly hair was trying to demand we pay full price after acknowledging that our service took way too long. Definitely will not be coming back here. Was so mad. I left my food at the table and then tried to threaten us calling the police if we didn't pay. Worst service ever!! read more

We order two picaderas which suppose to be two plates of fried meats and tostones and yuca frita..it was discussting! All was bathe in a sweet sauce that it did not say in the menu, it tasted mushy and discusting. I was embarrased infront of my guests, FOOD IS LESS THAN AUTHENTIC! then when I tried to call the number several times to see if they corrected the order, no one answered the phone! Very dissapinted!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT! read more

Me and my friend came here for a quick bite after a hard day of carrying furniture from one place to another. This has always been saved in my list of bookmarks because it has such great reviews. I now understand why! The place is a hidden gem, in a little plaza right off a busy road (I think 441). I would have never stopped here if it wasn't for Yelp! The service is amazing, the food came out quick and everything was so delicious. The decoration is of a typical Spanish restaurant with some Spanish music playing in the background. Music wasn't too loud or too low, just perfect enough that you could enjoy it and have a conversation. The beer was extremely cold, which is very important for us lol Can't wait to go back and order every other item on the menu! read more

We ordered food from here for lunch at work. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and fries. This was one of the best Cuban sandwiches I've had. The fries were a little soggy by the time it got to us but that's understandable because we were kind of far. I'm going to make it quick and short, the food is flavorless and not fresh! I hate I wasted my money!!

I placed an order today of which I went inside to the bar to ordered. The server ask what i was going to ordered and i said, "MOFONGO CON MASITAS DE CERDO", she then asked my partner what he wanted. Come to find out when I made it home she never put my order in. She only took his ordered. So I guess she's blind and deaf at the same time. We were the only customers so she wasn't busy. Highly dissatisfied, won't ever go there again. read more

I really wanted to love this place, but I couldn't. I ordered for delivery with pure excitement that I found a Dominican restaurant near where I live. I am Dominican and I have high expectations for Dominican food. Food arrived neatly packaged with care. I ordered: Grilled chicken, white rice, guandules, sweet plantains, tostones, fried cheese, chicken soup, two chicken empanadas and a tres leches. There were a mix of hits and misses amongst all of the food. My grilled chicken was just okay, lacking a bit of flavor and dry. Chicken soup was ok as well, nothing to rave about. I would say my two top favorites would be the fried cheese (you can't mess up cheese, that's easy) and the tostones. I would say they make tostones a bit different than the norm and it was not pressed flat, nor was it crispy. It was edible so therefore I ate it. The chicken empanada, had no filling or chicken inside at all, yes it was an empty empanada folks, first time I ever stumbled on this type of fail...see picture. Tres leches was good, it was a standard tres leches. I was not impressed, this restaurant failed to meet my expectations and was below average. I will try another Dominican restaurant in the area. read more

I was in the mood for som Dominican cuisine. I came across Bohio Latin Flavor in Pompano. We were promptly shown to a table. The venue has simple and casual decor. It was 1 PM on a Saturday, and the restaurant wasn't busy. I was told they have live music late evening on the weekends. I will pay them a visit one this weekends. I had some Mofongo with Chicharrón, and avocado salad and a Presidente beer. Presentation and Flavors were good. Service was attentive and because it wasn't busy I was able to have a friendly conversation with our waitress. Prices were very reasonable. Overall, I had great experience and I would be returning to el Bohio. read more

Just when I think this restaurant, it's people, the FOOD can't get any better it surprises me again. This has never happened to me before because they package the food so well but Uber Eats ruined my dinner. Our favorite soup was spilled inside the bag...completely. I called Bohio to explain since I ordered two more soups. The empathy I received was so beautiful. It wasn't their fault and yet she apologized. Sent me a free soda and lectured the next Uber driver. He was so careful with our new order because of her. I've said it before, Bohio is a rare gem. The food and the service are a ten. Try it. You will love it. read more

If your looking for a place to hang and have a great time we'll this is it. It goes from a restaurant to a night club at night. We came to celebrate my sisters birthday and weren't the least bit disappointed. The music was great, keep in mind it's mostly Latin music so if that's not your cup of tea then this isn't the place for you, however if your like me and love Latin music then mosey on on here and get ready for a great night. We ordered a bottle of Tito's for the table, a bucket of beer and a hooka for the table and our bill was under 250.00. The waitresses were all wonderful ... The ambiance was chill.. Just a great time overall.. read more

Food and everything is just perfect but is a little bit too far from me , and when I order is about an hour away from me

We went to New York over the holidays and tried for the very first time, Dominican Chicharron. The hubs loved Colombian chicharron and here in South Florida you can get it in a lot of places, but Dominican restaurants are more rare. We came to Bohio Latin Flavors to try their chicharron and see how it stacked against what we had in the city. Bohio is located in Margate, it has an understated exterior. Inside is has a Caribbean vibe to it. It was at lunch time on Saturday and was very slow. Just us and another couple. Both girls we saw were very friendly and helpful. We had a couple of questions and they answered them no problem. I ordered a Sancocho de res. Which is a typical Dominican soup. I've had it a few times and it has always been thick, more of a stew, this one was clear liquid. Flavor was good, but I prefer it thick. Hubby had the mofongo with chicharron and he loved it. We were told there is love entertainment on Friday and Saturday and Karaoke on Sunday. We liked this place a lot. We will sure come back. read more

The reason this place earns 10 stars is that they served my mofongo to go with a container of flavorful broth which a lot of restaurants don't. AND I got limes on the side.
