Was craving some homemade pasta & wine. Our server knew everything about wine and was very attentive! Ambiance was perfect, got to sit in a back little corner. I usually never finish my food, and i ate every single ravioli & wish there was maybe a couple more haha. it was very delicious, will be returning for date night or a family dinner. read more

Eggplant Parmesan is amazing, I love this place. My favorite is when they have the Ribeye on the special menu. I can't say enough the wait staff was amazing I was there until closing time and the server kept telling me no rush. I love that! read more

The food and service were exceptional tonight. From the hostess at the front to our server to the person keeping our drinks full, they were all so kind and attentive. The atmosphere was nice but casual. Very So Cal, which we loved. The appetizer, IL PESCE CRUDO ALL'ITALIANA (sushi grade tuna) was light and fresh. Our entrees were excellent too. Reviews like these are hard. I understand that places have off nights, or maybe the main crew was absent, etc., but my experience at L'Opera was basic. So basic that I would recommend a skip--- you can find better. Me and a work friend, named Darren, went to a local Italian Restaurant that was closed for a private event. We selected another restaurant but it was closed on Tues nights. The classics were out. The third option would be selected by the universe and convenient opportunity. The universe guided us to L' Opera- a place who I have heard nothing but good things about. But then I experienced it for myself- and well, the experience was underwhelming and, in a nut shell, have eaten that, done that. L' Opera is in the heart of downtown Long Beach. Paid parking is almost a must, even on a Tuesday night. The place was grand! Nice joint for sure, but, again, standard. It gave classic vibes of fancy, but not modern chic. D and I started with the Fried Calamari--- a standard in many Italian eateries. And for good reason, it is typically a crowd pleaser! But the one in L' Opera was not fried properly. It did not have that golden brown hue that ushers the eater to pleasant joy. It ushered me to underwhelming, disappointment. The crisp that I longed for, never arrived. D and I then moved to entrees. I got the special of the night-- the Seabass. Maybe I need to stay away from "healthy options" when I dine out, but this seabags was also underwhelming. Where was the flavor? Not sure. I played hide and seek with the flavor and it won-- I could not find it. I tried D's Chicken Lasagna and it was stronger than my dish-- but that is not saying much. His dish tasted like a classic comfort food- but classic can be eternal and classic can also be boring, in the sense of, like, I have tasted this dish before, so I kind of just know what to expect, so I am like enjoying it in a hum drum way. The lasagna was the latter. We were celebrating his birthday. and they brought a complimentary dessert.--- chocolate dipped strawberries. They were well received and were strong. Probably the strongest showing of the night. I recognize that my dining experiences have been plenty and thus I have a more demanding taste for my dining experiences. So this place is good, if you are satisfied with solid food, nice ambience. But if you know, what elevated food is, then go somewhere else. You'll thank me later. read more

Holy cow, that chicken lasagna was probably the best lasagna I've had in my entire life. The server was super funny and very attentive to our drinks. The ambiance is very nice and super fancy-feeling. Side note, the bathrooms there are super clean. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Long Beach. The experience is 10 stars every time. The food is always delicious and the service is outstanding. We love to sit at the bar afterwards and talk to the staff and order an Italian margarita. The owner is often there and will always greet and speak to you. If there's something you like and you don't see it on the menu, they will custom make it for you We are grateful that this beautiful restaurant decided to rebuild after the destruction the riots caused. 100% recommend! It was such an incredible dining experience. Our family made reservations to spend Mother's Day lunch here and we were given a private room downstairs. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant. There's also a valet parking option so you don't have to deal with the hassle of downtown Long Beach parking. There was a preset menu and every dish was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Our waiter was so attentive. Everyone had such an amazing time, especially knowing that dining out on a holiday weekend such as Mother's Day tends to bring on stress and subpar service. This definitely was not the case. The lamb chops were so good, the meatballs were tender and moist. they also accommodated a children's menu option by offering plain pasta with a red sauce on the side and grilled chicken. The kids loved it. An additional treat was an assortment of desserts that we were able to choose from at the end of our meal. Thank you for an amazing experience! read more

One of the best Italian dining experiences in downtown Long Beach. From the moment you walk up the stairs to when you step inside, the ambience is truly amazing. I came here for Valentines day weekend and it was a good choice. In addition to the ambience the food is phenomenal. We started with the hugest pieces of calamari that were a great start to our experience here.. I got the fillet mignon, one of the best well cooked pieces of meat I've ever had! The plate comes with some potatoes and veggies that compliment it very well. They had a Chilean seabass which I ended up also having a small bite of. Very well prepared and very flavorful. They have opera singer and let me tell you, he is so good the entire restaurant is captivated by him. Not sure if he works by requests or if you have to let the restaurant know in advanced. A special shout out to our server Jessica. She went above and beyond to explain the menu. She even helped us pick out things. She was fast and she was friendly. She checked up on us often. Overall excellent experience, this was my second time to eat here and it was just as good if not better than the first time. The atmosphere and vibe was great. There was a guy walking around singing Italian songs to different tables, the food was perfect and our waiter was excellent - the only feedback I'd have is that it would have been nice if he explained any chefs choice or recommendations. He did place a special chef menu on the table, but didn't explain anything about it. Considering how busy it was, our food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. Look forward to coming back though. read more

We are from the Baltimore area and traveled to Long Beach for a cruise. We found L'Opera online and decided to give it a try. The food was delicious, authentic Italian, the service was wonderful and the ambiance pleasant. If you are local or an out of towner, L'Opera is a wonderful choice lace for a delicious Italian meal, you will not be disappointed. And their bar and wine selection is also exceptional! read more

This has become one of my favorite restaurants, the pasta is made from scratch, the flavors everything feels fresh and delicious, the service is great! the man who sings opera in the messs is great! They have a good selection of wines and the prices are pretty good for what they offer! Wasn't expecting much, but it lives up to the hype! We came here for an anniversary dinner, and since it was mid week, there was a mostly empty restaurant. Parking was a little tricky but we were able to get a street spot. There are some shady characters outside since it was late and the metro stop is right there Inside the ambiance is beautiful. I felt like they can hold wedding receptions here. We went with the chilled black tiger shrimp for the appetizer. It was pretty good, but we especially liked it because of how unique it is. For my entree I had the filet medallions with a glass of red and it didn't disappoint. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the white wine sauce made the dish. I'm not a dessert person by any means, but I will say, the Panna Cotta might have been the highlight of the night. Sweet yet refreshing bc of the fruit sauce. We will be back for sure! read more

In dining at L'opera, we have always had a salient experience where the owner would greet us ( Terry A) and make us feel at home. The ambiance from the Italian decor and sophisticated entryway and restrooms that have a flair and accent of the design, makes you feel that you are in the heart of Tuscany as Firenze. Went to 4 pm sitting before a 6:30 Simon & Garfunkel show at Terrace Theater. Nice lift for wheelchair access. Easy parking. Very nice salad, soup, white & red wine. Had to skip desserts. Not the cheapest, but could be nicest Italian place in LB. Thankfully easy walk to Terrace Theater. read more

Look, this is a fancy restaurant, great for special events and the service was phenomenal. The menu is basic American Italian (chicken parm, lasagna, pasta w mushrooms) and it is all fine. No complaints. Is it crave worthy, do I need to make a special effort to return, probably not. Again, there is nothing wrong, great date night or celebration locale, your meal will be fine, but for the price I will seek out other options. read more

Scott is one of the best servers. I made a careless mistake and accidentally ordered the wrong dish. When he saw how disappointed I was, he was able to get the dish I actually wanted made. Beautiful Italian restaurant right off Pine Street. The inside looks amazing and the food doesn't disappoint either. I like the white table clothes and fancy look. Multiple people come to your table for bread, take your order, bring you wine, and water. You really get that high end feel for a reasonable price. I ordered the $34 chicken parmasan and it was bomb! I loved the chicken, the flavor, and the penne pasta that it comes with. I ordered a $32 bottle of Pinot Noir wine. Pretty cheap price for an entire bottle at an Italian restaurant. The wine was above average. I also ordered $12 brussel sprouts. Unfortunately there is zero sauce, zero grilling, zero char on the brussels. They were a 1/10 very disappointing. If you want the best brussels in LA then go across the street to Bo-Beau Kitchen across the street. I liked the endless Frank Sinatra playlist too while you eat. Overall, a very nice dinner. Not as delicious as some of the famous DTLA Italian eateries, but I had a great time. read more

We had a very nice time celebrating our anniversary at L'opera. The food was all amazing, which I will get into, but what made it five stars was the service. Extremely friendly and attentive servers and staff that made me feel at home. The stuffed butternut squash was amazing. The truffle tagliatelle special was super rich and delicious, and the chef who came out to prepare it in the cheese bowl was very nice and funny. The ambiance was perfect for a nice diner, but not too pretentious either. Overall a great experience that I would recommend. read more
