I've had a pedicure, but never a manicure. So, today that was a first for me. I was perfectly happy with the service. The workers nicely explained prices, not trying to convince me of anything, just factually. They were polite and efficient, directing me nicely when I didn't know quite what to do. It's very easy for me to feel uncomfortable in a new service business, but I didn't at all. The room was nicely lit and wasn't loud. I was very happy with both manicure and pedicure, as the several obvious regular customers (they greeted employees by name) seemed to be as well. The neck and arm massage when getting a manicure and the lower leg and foot massage when getting a pedicure far exceeds that of any other salon. Yesterday I went in for a pink and white set. 5 out of 10 of my nails were bumpy after the gel was put on, the white tip part line wasn't even a straight line, she cut me 5 times, & told me she couldn't see anything I was pointing out. It seemed like she also added too much of the powder because my nails curve down to the side of my fingernail (I've never seen anything like this) The bad nail job was NOT the worst part. The technician insisted she would pay for my set because I was not satisfied and I really appreciated the gesture but I still wanted to pay something. That's when the OWNER comes to the front to charge me $40 for the set. The technician suggested $30 because of her mistakes and the owner started chewing her out in front of customers and told me that "she didn't give discounts to anyone and she knows what she's doing because she's got 21 years of experience" When I told her I refused to pay $40 she started to go on a rampage and yell at me. I work in customer service and one thing I've learned is, sometimes it's worth working with your customer about a price/discount because your customer is going to come back again. Went in for a pedicure as I was picking up dog food next door at Hollywood Feed. Pedicure was mediocre. Scrubbed my heals with a pumice stone that looked and felt OLD. The lotion smelled awful and she rubbed my legs like she was petting a cat. ALL FOR $30...I said for a BASIC pedicure??? I normally go to a shop in Addison and get hot towels, leg, foot massage and better foot scrub. Never going back. She put my shoes on telling me my toes were dry...guess what...they are all messed up now from not being 100% dry. Waste of time and money. read more

WARNING!!! I normally do not leave negative reviews on yelp... but for the safety of future guests, I must. I am a licensed cosmetologist; I know the safety and sanitation rules for nail salons. I came in for a pedi and dip for my fingernails. I added a parafin treatment for my feet. My first warning sign was that they did not use a liner in their pedicure tubs. They kept their "clean" towels shoved in a plastic container mixed in with their personal items (cell phone, keys, headphones.) i had to tell them "no!" to the cheese grater they tried to use on my feet. (There is no proper way to sanitize those after being used on someone) I stopped the service half way when they tried to dip my foot in a shared bucket of community parafin wax. This is the biggest no-no ever! You have to use individualized bags to practice proper safety/avoid contamination. I did not allow them to finish the dip, they only removed what I had on previously. They still charged me $40. I left with no nails, no pedi and my wallet getting the hit! I have filed a complaint with TDLR, the licensing department of Texas. So dangerous to ignore basic safety rules. Very disappointed! I am scared to death about what is going to happen to my feet after this. read more

I have been a steady customer for about two years. L'Amour nails is clean, efficient, polite, friendly, RELAXING and beautiful! No canned upselling and the staff is relatively quiet. At other places I have felt like the staff are talking about me and other guests right in front of us, but not here. They are engaging, if that is what you like, or quiet if you prefer to relax. The staff greets me with a sincere smile every time I come in and I dont feel like part of a cattle call, like some other places. I get dip nails and a pedi regularly and receive constant compliments from my coworkers and family. The best part about them is they use odorless products; no chemical smells and the salon is always spotless. Sometimes I make an appointment, but more often I walk in. Decent place, but I've had better. It's clean and bright, which is good. The people aren't particularly friendly and they don't do a hot stone massage on a basic pedicure, which I'm used to now and thought was fairly standard. They never offered anything to drink (not even soda/water, forget wine), which I also thought was pretty standard. It would have been a solid 3 star, but the customer service was severely lacking. They open at 10 am and I was supposed to get pedicures with my friend and her daughter. They arrived at 10 on the dot, I arrived at 10:03. When she got there she told him there were 3 of us and we wanted to be together and they went ahead and seated them. When I got there a guy was barely in front of me (we walked in together, he just was the 1st one through the door.) She waived and told them I was her 3rd and they still seated him first and helped him first. The problem was that they didn't have anyone left to help me so I had to wait for 25 minutes. (So their pedicures were almost done when mine was starting.) Seeing as how the rest of my party was already there and said I was coming any minute, they should have taken me first - especially since he and I walked in together. The kicker was when they tried to seat him at the only free chair next to them and both they and I had to insist that they leave that chair open for me, as we were together. (There were about 10 other chairs free in the salon.) It's a shame. I keep wanting to find a place closer to me since I moved downtown. I really hope that after reading my review you think about never setting foot in this establishment . I went in to get the gel taken off my nails. So I sat with this lady in less than 7 minutes cut me with the file, burnt me with acetone and was trying to take the gel of my nails with her own finger nails!!!! When I explained I didn't feel comfortable anymore and I wanted to pay whatever I owed her and go, the lady in charge came over and told me I had to pay the full amount or have them finish the work. Me and some friends went to get pedicures. This is not my first as I get them pretty regularly. They were busy and my girl was preoccupied yelling at everyone while scrubbbing my heel.. she scrubbed a HUGE hole in my foot.. I yelled and she looked.. I looked.. and there was blood everywhere.. she tried to pretend nothing was wrong and I had to ask for a bandaid.. it wasn't big enough to cover and they still wanted me to pay for the Pedicure.. I have been in contact with them by mail and provided Medical documentation and affidavits of witnesses and still no resolution. I was hobbling for a month and had to go on antibiotics to take care of the situation. I don't suggest going there.. its one thing if you make a stupid mistake.. it is another when you don't care to handle that mistake. read more

For one thing, a stone manicure is NOT standard, at least not at $25...but you know what you do get included in the price of your standard pedicure, free PARAFIN and a 5-10min shoulder massage...that is not standard. No they don't offer cocktails or wine, but I have gone with girlfriends and we have taken it with us, but this place is by far the cheapest around for a mani/pedi it costs $40 (parafin and shoulder rub included)....if they don't offer you water (Its about 50/50 that they do) ask for it. The salon is a typical nail salon. Looks clean and updated. I was greeted upon entering by a sweet girl. I sat down expecting to have her service me, only to be moved to another station with another woman. This woman did not want my explanation of what I wanted and spoke Vietnamese the entire time to another lady. She made my nails too thick, too long, and my cuticles bleed. This place is no frills. The nail services are basic. You can find similar or higher quality services for the same price. I'm bumping my review up a star though because I loved my facial and because there is rarely a wait. The facial products she used were simple (like cetaphil and rose water) but she also used a suction machine to clean my pores. I walked out with plump skin and improved complexion.
