This is my new necklace!

I have never left the studio anything but joyful! Today was no exception and that is a Herculean feat as I went in for a waxing service! Flor has a very positive and relaxing energy even as she is pulling off wax from my nether regions. Thank you Flo for your gleeful soul ! Alex makes me feel special every time I step into this beautiful shop and it very easy to stay and smell the roses literally!

Just a few of the gifts I've received from the L+A Healing Studio, earrings and my favorite beeswax lip balm, with a wax-stamped gift box.

Funny thing, I've never actually been to L+A Healing Studio, but a friend who lives nearby has purchased many gifts for me from their boutique and they are always so nice. I've got beautiful handmade earrings, luxurious soaps, gorgeous-smelling candles, natural beeswax lip balms, on and on. The gifts always feel special and high-quality, and the gift wrapping is always lovely. Once this pandemic is under control, I'd love to visit the boutique myself or try out the studio's services!

If anyone has not visited L+A Healing Studio, I would high recommend it. I had severe shoulder and upper back pain and decided to go for a last minute massage on Sunday and found this gem of a place in south loop. Couldn't even lift my arm for 2 days and after massage I was able to lift 70-80% of my arm. Matt was amazing will definitely go back for more massages. Not only that but the owner makes amazing jewelry and helps local retailers with one mission everything has to be earth friendly. The collection was amazing. And to be honest they had me with dogs. It's a dog friendly place. I am seriously thinking about joining the studio where they do yoga and Pilates. You also get a small token of appreciation as a bath salts and oils to go home and bathe in. A MUST GO place in south loop.

I'm all about supporting local Chicago establishments and I decided to check out L&A Healing Studio in one of my favorite parts of the city. I love the South Loop! Upon arrival you are greeted warmly and I love the comfy feel of the space. The concept is a place to come to for different forms of art therapy. You can buy clothing, accessories, jewelry (and make your own), and bath products. While there you can also partake in a fitness class (Yoga & Pilates). When I was there I decided to try there bath products. OMG the bath bombs are amazing!!! I'm a huge bath person and they smell amazing. I also really enjoy the soaps. On my last visit I decided to get a massage from Leo and two days later I'm still feeling super relaxed! I sit behind a desk all day and my back and neck were really sore, but I left feeling like a new person. This studio has a little bit of everything and I plan on trying out all of the services. Especially in the near future getting a custom made piece of apparel. I love feeling unique and supporting local shops!

The best…read morepart of the retreat is that I still feel relaxed and have carried the energy and lessons from the weekend into my daily routine. I'll preface it by sharing that prior to the retreat, I meditated maybe a dozen times. I went on the retreat because I wanted to incorporate more meditation into my life. Now, meditation is not only something I do, but I look forward to. The entire retreat beat my (always high) expectations. Chill's retreat included two nights at the Marina Grand hotel, five meditations, three yoga sessions, a class focused entirely on breathing, a gong bath and wellness sessions on goal setting and mindful eating. I can't say enough about Laura, who ran the retreat and runs Chill; Cari, who led the yoga sessions; and Darrell who led the meditations. The hotel was lovely - our room had a fireplace and two Adirondack chairs on the marina-facing patio - perfect for your morning coffee. The retreat also included two dinners and breakfasts - all were very good and catered to all dietary needs. We had time on our own for lunch on Saturday and my friend and I wandered into town for lunch at Beer Church Brew Co. We capped off our weekend perfectly with meditation and yoga focused on loving kindness before saying goodbye to our new friends. The retreat was perfect mix of spiritual and wellness guidance and also provided necessary time for us to reflect on the lessons of the day. I'm so happy I went and I'm already looking forward to going back to Chill and to the next retreat in the fall.

The staff and instructors are so welcoming and friendly, and they have such a calm and cool vibe. I like that they like to check in/chat with students before/after class, and they are just so nice. I've taken the Wednesday and Thursday evening Zen Vinyasa classes (unheated room), and it's exactly what I was hoping for! It also was populated but not crowded which was great (though I can't speak to other days/times). I had Angel as an instructor both times when they were subbing for someone else and I really enjoyed it! Angel has a simultaneously soothing and strong voice (in the best way for a yoga class) that is great for motivating students during class and I love their inspiring words and playlist that begin and end our classes. The studio itself is cozy yet spacious enough to have multiple rooms for various classes and a lounge area in the center with lots of comfy pillows and a coffee station. I see people hang out there and it makes it feel like a community vibe. I like that there are lots of hooks, hangers, benches, and lockers in the front and back of the studio and in the actual bathrooms/locker rooms so it feels like there's plenty of space to place your things. It's also very clean!

Unfortunately, both times I have come here there has been music playing throughout the entire session. Not ambient instrumentals but whole entires songs with lyrics and bridges and choruses and stuff. And not very good ones. I personally cannot focus on the words of the instructor or my breath and body with tacky lyrics being pumped into my ears. I come to the mat to cultivate focus and presence, and I find it impossible in this space. This place is definitely for someone, but not people who are sensitive to noise or enjoy a more traditional yoga practice. Much love.

Any extreme will take its toll on you... & my daily aches & stiffness remind me of such. I've attended 3 classes so far, all virtually - which I appreciate so much given the winter weather & the pandemic. My absolute favorite class is Candlelight Yoga with Aasha. I find ending my stressful week with this class so necessary & I feel refreshed & relaxed after. I love that we're asked what parts of the body may need attention & we'll work through some poses to help... & they do! Despite being hyper mobile, I can still get a good stretch & be challenged. Class ends with meditation & before you know it, any drama & stress from the previous days are gone. If you're on the fence of starting a new healthy habit, give this place a try. It was really cool! Not only did it give me much needed time to reflect and relax before the new year, but it was just such a pretty, quiet, positive and motivating experience. I really liked our instructor -she explained the poses very clearly so that even a novice, like me, could follow easily. I also liked that the studio was comfortably warm and there were all sorts of props to use to aid in the poses (which was a new experience for me). I also liked that she had some unique twists in the class -starting off with an inspirational quote, ending with a poem. It was very thoughtful and clearly planned out. Overall, great experience -I really liked this class and plan to check in when I'm in need of a little reflective centering.
