Went to the food court at Ala Moana and tried this water for the 1st time. We had the Honolulu Bowl which consisted of tender brisket, tasty pork, and chicken with rice, slaw and salsa verde. It was huge!! I think it took me 2 meals to complete it and my husband was really stuffed! It's a good thing we took it home to devour so we could enjoy the meal and sit back and wallow. Service was pleasant and they even gave us a sample of the brisket while we waited for our food. Yum! Clean counter and food prep area. Fast and efficient. Wasn't a fan of the salsa verde but the bbq sauce was great!
Wow, I defiantly got my MEAT ON at LA Brisket... Was doing some shopping and famished from an exhausting evening of spending money I decided it's time to eat. Reviewing my options I'm standing at LA Brisket and a lady offered me a taste, OH MY I WAS SIGNED DEALED & DELIVERED at first bite. So I order a plate of flesh with rice. I watched as my flesh was carved and hand placed onto the bed of rice. A ladle of juice was drizzled over my mound of meat obviously to enhance flavor and it worked. My box was then presented to me and I moved to the consuming area.... Upon opening I sniffed the aroma permeating the air and knife & fork went to work like a buzz saw ripping through a very moist & hot mound of meat. Each bite was like eating from the Garden of Eden but meat vs an apple... A very satisfying meal from an unexpected place. Thanks to the sample lady for offering me a taste of her flesh to dine on. Frank B will be back!
Excellent customer service! Post workout stomach hanger set in!!!! (Stomach was the one w/ hanger issues NOOOOT the brain! (Now if we talking where Common Courtesy/Decency and Common Sense in general went well brain may , I digress) Now to appease hungered tummy and not have the guilt tripping me every second for the rest of the night, opted to go be the and eat the garden up! Let's mow down!!! If ya saw the salad pic - yup every item is in this salad (minus the ( failed to remind mouth to include those til it was too late - oh well)) Nothing special about ! Ya love yer greens or ya don't! In my case ya might as well toss the whole kitchen sink in!!!! Vacuum cleaner for my veggies !!!!! And that salad was a good portion! Let's get to the real deal!!!! Da !!!! Ok ok I called myself a and here I am talking about eating ! The horror! Well, that was a fast guilt mini trip - the meaaaaaat!!! I chose brisket, needed sooome guilty pleasure item! The meat so tender just falls apart fork tender! Beautiful smoky flavor, and the drippings just give it the perfect umami satisfaction! One itsy bitsy eeenie weenie teeny tiny issue - the garlic rice was missing from the order, and wasn't realized til I was halfway through the salad and 1/4 way done w/ the brisket. Went to the young man who had completed the salad, he was apologetic - rice delivered, no harm no foul - life is all goood! Now why mention the rice if it not that big an issue? Well listen up foodies - DA GARLIC RICE IS DA BOMB! Perfect compliment to the brisket meat and juices! And I needed to prevent the paper container from eating up all the brisket juice on me!!!! The elote - - well easy enough and delicious enough! It's off the cob - frozen I'm taking a stab at that. Nothing super fancy. Kernels a bit small to be honest. The nice large plump ones would be best! So there ya go! Now w/ happy tummy, time to "waddle" myself outta here after eating all that salad + scoop of garlic rice, and about 5 bites of the elote. Breakfast leftovers on that one! Enjoy hungry
Disclaimer, I am not nor claim to be a self labeled BBQ expert...let alone a food expert. Wanted to try something I've never had at the Ala Moana food court. I haven't had southern BBQ in a long time so my curiosity and cravings led me here and I was not disappointed! The brisket sandwich I ordered was very tasty. I noticed the staff toasting the bun while they were slicing the brisket. Bun was nicely toasted, soft yet not flimsy. The meat itself was very tender, flavorful and smokey. The sides I ordered hit every flavor profile, seasoned well and the portions were big enough for 2-3 people. Customer service was great. The cashier was so pleasant and very knowledgeable. Price point was about $16 for the sandwich and $6 each side. I'm not an expert at BBQ but I do know that smoked BBQ is NOT CHEAP. That is a good thing because cheap means processed and tough. I did not expect food court BBQ to be this good and glad I followed my gut...and this case, followed my nose from the smell of hickory smoke. Yes, I wanted all the smoke.
If you're a regular at Costco, or even just been to one before, you know the power the power that free samples. For one, it will always attract attention, but it also has the potential to sway people's minds. And, in this case, boy did it work. Despite admittedly feeling a bit skeptical of getting BBQ from a food court eatery, the bit of brisket we tried was more than enough to convince us to not only stop check out what L.A Brisket has to offer, but to order from here as well! Although L.A. Brisket's menu may not be super extensive, it's not short on appealing options either. Whether as part of a bowl, sandwich, or salad, their Brisket, Pulled Pork, and Smoked Chicken all looked so good. Which made it such an easy decision to get their HONOLULU BOWL ($25) that comes with Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Chicken, Garlic Rice, Slaw, and Salsa Verde, so that we could try some of just about everything! -- BEEF BRISKET My favorite thing we had! The smoke ring was surprisingly thick, the bark had a wonderful, smoky flavor to it, and the fat cap wasn't overly thick. However, the most impressive thing about this how melt-in-your-mouth tender this was - so good! -- PULLED PORK All in all, this was pretty solid. Some of the edges felt a little dry, but they were crisp with a nice bit of smokiness to it. Plus, the pork had just a touch of fattiness which also helped to keep the meat rather moist. -- SMOKED CHICKEN THIGH Not all that amazing, but not too shabby either. Unlike with the other two meats, this didn't have as much of a smokiness to it (I think the skin captured a lot of it), but As for the Mac Salad and Garlic Rice, the former was fine for what it is, but the latter was great. To be fair, I'm always a fan of Garlic Rice, but all of that garlicky goodness worked especially well with the BBQ meats. The Salsa Verde seemed pretty decent as well, but I'd be lying if I said I had anything more than just a taste of it (I just didn't think the meats needed it). While none of the three meats can match up to the best I've had (sadly, in Texas and not in the Bay Area), all of them better were far better than average. That alone makes L.A. Brisket quite impressive, but even more so considering they're a food court eatery. Not to mention the fat that our order came with a practical mound of food! Between this place, Lahaina Chicken, and all of the other eateries in Ala Moana that I've yet to try, I'm going to have a heck of a time deciding on what to eat the next time I'm here!
They had free samples of brisket, that's all I needed to try. I opted for the dark leafy greens salad , it's crisp and fresh the brisket is so soft and full of flavor. It's a 5/5
Went around 10:30 am on a Saturday, not too busy. We ordered the Brisket bowl, 101 sandwich, and waffle fries. The Brisket Bowl was good. The brisket was tender with a nice smoky flavor, but the real star was the rice--super flavorful and so good on its own. It comes with a green sauce that looks like salsa verde but tastes like a cross between chimichurri and salsa verde. It was runny, tangy, and vinegar-forward, which cut through the richness of the meat nicely. The purple pickled cabbage added a great crunch and balance. The 101 Sandwich was tasty but definitely messy--make sure to grab extra napkins (we only got one). The brisket here was shredded and thinner than in the bowl, but still flavorful. The Waffle Fries were crispy, though a little too salty for our taste. Service was quick and friendly. We got our food within 5-10 minutes of ordering. In between helping customers, the staff were also offering free samples of brisket to folks passing by. This place is located in the downstairs food court at alamoana. Overall, delicious brisket with fast service. It's a good spot to grab a hearty meal.

I have been here before so I had to come again. They are in the food court at the Ala Moana mall so it definitely gets busy. I was lucky enough to come when they weren't too busy. The service was friendly and they have good suggestions. It is very noisy since it is in the food court. The food came out quick enough. I got it to go and when I got to my hotel room, I devoured it all. Very moist and a thick portion. Oh, it was the brisket sandwich with an elote cup. Sooo good. I did add coleslaw to the sammy. Overall it was delicious

Intrigued by the free sample, I bought a sandwich which extra meat which came to $30. Yes. $30. Way too much mayo and mustard and way too much slaw. Small ass hoagie. Here's the real kicker...they wrapped it up tight and put it in a paper bag. When I asked them if I could have one of the covered takeout plates they told me it's an extra charge. Hey guys, suck my hoagie!!! I ended up needing to eat it out of the bag trying to get to the bread with a fork. It was a brisket bowl in a bag. Won't be coming back. Little gestures go a long way. Like giving a fricken takeout container. LA Brisket, suck my hoagie.

With competition so stiff at the food court the food has to be good to win over a hungry customer. The free sample lures you in and after a tasty bite you get the feeling of..why not?! Prices are higher and probably not worth it because portions are tasty but too small. With the noisy food court and surrounding restaurants this place could stand to lower the prices or at least give us more food. We ordered briskets and garlic rice. Everything was delicious and we finished everything! Wish the portion sides were larger. The sides are good but the main course is the meat. Wish they didn't have to measure and weigh meat prior to serving us because you think about how much more you are paying per pound. read more

So we were contemplating our lunch options, when the nice lady cutting brisket handed us a very nice sized sample, and we decided to try LA Brisket. Folks, when you get well made brisket in any setting, expect it to be on the expensive side. I asked the cashier how much brisket was in the brisket bowl, and she said 3 ounces, for the ala carte order, it's 5 ounces. Both hubs and I opted for the bowl and patiently waited. The brisket is weighed, you can watch them cut and weigh your portions while they are making your bowl. The bowl comes with garlic rice, a purple slaw and 'salsa verde'. The meat had a beautiful smoke ring, and was fork tender and soft and juicy. The bowl had two good portion slices of brisket, the slices were nearly a half inch thick. Perfect size for lunch. I was a bit thrown off with the verde green sauce, so I had hubs get some bbq sauce as well, which is $0.78 per container. Hubs also ordered a side of beans which was enough to share. I wasn't a fan of the slaw, there wasn't much flavor to it, and it is vinegar based and just cabbage. It comes with garlic rice, although I hope sometime in the future they would consider plain rice as an option. The brisket can stand alone for flavor, and it didn't need any sauce, but I like my sauces, so tried the verde and the bbq sauce. I was not prepared for the garlic rice, and until I combined a piece of meat, dipped in the verde sauce and topped with the garlic rice, I was lost. SO, dip meat in verde sauce and add garlic rice, and then it makes sense! I went back and forth with the BBQ sauce because the garlic rice didn't quite taste right unless it had the full combo effect with the verde sauce. The beans were warm, and had a mild kick and went well with the brisket. Suggestion if you are looking for a soda or water, consider one of the other vendors, a can soda was $3, which is pretty high for a 12oz can. read more

I was enticed by the free brisket sample that they were handing out, which tasted decent as a bite, so I ordered a brisket bowl and a side of mac and cheese to-go. When I got home and looked at my order, I was disappointed, especially with the mac and cheese. Seriously? I mean look at the picture and tell me that's mac and cheese. And the salsa verde - no one should be ingesting something that vibrant of a green. Another thing I also observed was the lack of gloves being used during food handling. One server had one glove on his left hand, and touched everything else with his right, which ended up touching the food directly anyways. I threw everything but the meat out, which I nuked in my microwave. If this is the cuisine they're going for, don't mess up on the mac and cheese. Guys, there's better brisket elsewhere... read more
I was passing by in the food court and they were offering samples. The brisket is actually really good. It was soft, tender and had the perfect amount of fat ratio. They had just taken the meat out of the smoker right behind the counter. Besides the brisket they also sell pulled pork and pulled chicken. All of their meats are smoked. I had gotten the brisket bowl. It came with four small pieces of brisket, garlic rice, LA slaw and salsa verde sauce. I did not have a problem with any of the food. The brisket was excellent. The garlic rice had a mild garlic flavor and the purple slaw was creamy. They weigh the meats on a scale before serving. The servings are minuscule. They only give a quarter pound of brisket. The bowl is priced at $19. Most people would have to eat two or three of those to get full. read more

The samples is what sold me!!! Me and my friend was walking around the mall and had a sample of their brisket and next thing you know I was in line ordering a plate! THAT GOOD! We got 2 brisket bowls & a side of elote. It is pretty pricey. But for the slab I got and the tons of rice it was worth it to me. I saw the other reviews and it looked disappointing but when I went my overall experience was A ++++!!! The service is impeccable! They are the nicest people!!! Like truly. I would come back because of this amazing experience, service and great food! It is in Ala moana food court, so if your in the mall and you walk pass, get a sample if their handing em out I can guarantee you, you will want to purchase a plate! The brisket plate came with garlic rice, cole slaw and this salsa verde. OMG me and my friend agreed that everything just went together sooooo perfectly. That salsa omg GAME CHANGER!!! I am just really impressed with my overall experience here. We coming back here no doubt! read more
They are located in the food court right across from haagen-dazs. It's cute how their sandwich names are of the freeways in LA. I ordered their 405 sandwich, the brisket is nice and flavorful, a little oily but decent. The coleslaw on top was okay, kind of wish it was more pickled to cut through the fatiness. Their bread while it looked a little charred was nice and crispy. I don't think it's worth $18 tho and there are other things I could get for that price. I also got the side of beans, it was a bit more watery than I would have liked. The food is filling for sure and I couldn't even finish the beans after the sandwich...or I wasn't into it enough to do so. read more

La Brisket is pretty pricey, but I figured I'd try it out. I ordered the brisket bowl ($19) that comes with a L.A. slaw, and steamed garlic rice. Since, the L.A. slaw is $6 by itself, and elote is the same price by itself. I asked if I could make that substitution and I could. But it was a $3 charge for it. That doesn't make sense if they're the same price. They weigh the brisket so, the portion I received was three pieces. The garlic rice took up the entire box and elote was about a hand size portion. The brisket was nice but getting that extra charge for substitution & the portion size. The rice taking up the entire box and having smaller portions. I don't think it's worth it at all. It was a 2 star, but I lowered to a 1 star. You can find a cheaper price with better portions than La Brisket. I wouldn't come back. read more
The list of offerings is short and sweet - which is good for a mall food court that gets very, very busy. First ask yourself if you want rice (get a bowl) or bread (get a sandwich) or neither (ala carte). Then do you want any of their sides? Finally they have a couple of "Honolulu Specials" that are small party packs. I got the brisket ala carte ($21). The price may cause a sharp intake of breath, but I know how much beef costs in Hawaii, so the price is actually reasonable, especially after you factor in labor and other overhead costs. The brisket was (plastic) fork tender and smoky. The meat had the lovely pink smoke hue and was not too fatty. The sauce was also smoky and had some heat to it, maybe medium-level. My heat tolerance has increased, so this semi-wimp was okay with it, but I would have preferred a mild sauce. Personally I find that heat detracts from the flavors. No doubt some will wish it was much hotter. Heads-up: Compostable containers are used and a piece of butcher paper is placed below the meat. The juice from the meat soaked through the container, so it's best to put something under it rather than end up with a stain, and the paper tore so I almost ate some of it. I'll have to come by again and try the chicken and pork. read more

The former Paradise Bakery has been boarded up for a long time so I was excited when I saw signs up for L.A. Brisket from Los Angeles. I saw it open this week so wanted to try it out since I'm still on a barbecue kick after visiting Austin, TX. Brisket, pulled pork, and pulled chicken are sold ala carte (8 ounces) with separate sides (elote, beans, slaw, fries, garlic rice, etc). More economical are the bowls which have 4 ounces of meat, garlic rice, slaw and salsa verde. I opted for the brisket bowl which was $19. The workers were friendly and it didn't take too long to get my food. I did see them slice the meat per order so that is nice. The brisket was ok but could have been cooked longer to tender the fat as parts were still semi-solid and didn't melt in my mouth. It also could have used more of a smokey flavor. It least it wasn't dry. The salsa verde overpowered the meat so I don't use it much though it does have a spicy kick to it. I guess I don't care for the Los Angeles twist on BBQ and would prefer regular sauce. The slaw was just finely shredded purple cabbage that didn't have much vinegar flavor. It would be good for those who don't like tangy slaw. Nothing else in the slaw though so it is just cabbage. The garlic rice had a good flavor. Nice to be able to get brisket at the mall but it's definitely not the best I've had so I just give it an average rating. I'll have to try the pulled pork and chicken to see how those are. I do wish you could choose your own sides for the bowl instead of just the rice and slaw. read more
Wow... i would have never thought that at a mall food court i would find one of the best briskets on the island. Not only that for it to come from a restaurant called LA Brisket? I didnt know LA was known for briskets. Honestly it feels kind of random. I would have never thought to try this restaurant had it not been for the samples. One bite i realized I had been missing out. The brisket itself is so tender and flavorful yet the bowl that comes with it has an amazing garlic rice and the perfect green sauce to pair the beef with. The sauce in itself is very sour but cuts the fat of the brisket perfectly. Ignore the slaw tho... its not that good. I may ask to replace it with something else next time. read more
Got a brisket bowl. It came with five pieces of yummy tender briskets, garlic rice (not so garlicky), slaw, and wasabi vinaigrette. Wasabi sauce (vinaigrette: it's sour) is good with briskets but the sauce from briskets is better to go with garlic rice. So I would ask more meat soy flavored juice on the garlic rice. read more

I'm really not a big meat eater but recently got into brisket and I've found myself craving it. Now I've walked by L.A. Brisket many times and never realized they also sold brisket sandwiches. I order the 405 sandwich and at first was bummed they didn't have anymore arugula but they asked if I'd like cabbage instead and omg!!! Between the blue cheese, aioli and the tender brisket this snd the tang of the cabbage this sandwich is legit. And too think this gem is inside the mall food court. Check it out. read more

My 3rd time here and I feel ripped off. First time ordering side mushrooms that cost $2 and I literally got a sprinkle. I went back to tell the cashier I don't think this is worth $2 and she added only a bit more. Kind of disappointed. I don't know how this establishment runs but it seems as if they are pinching pennies. The amount of salsa verde they put in the container is too low, it looks like leftover. They forgot my side piece chicken, I went back to tell the guy I'm missing my chicken TWICE and he replied, "I don't know what chicken?" TWICE! Isn't there only 1 chicken on the menu??? read more

After shopping upstairs in Ala moana,we went downstairs for our meal,so many choices at this foodcourt,the LA brisket have the shortest line so i gave it a try,the brisket is slowly cooked and has a very good taste ,chimichuri sauce made it perfect,red cabbage coleslaw is just ok. read more

Service was horrible, it took 10 minutes to get my food, and there was no other customers. Sub par meat and they barely gave you any BBQ and could charge $1 for extra sauce. Do not recommend. read more

Food: Ordered the Hawai'i Bowl. Essentially a sample of their chicken, pork and brisket. The meats were melt-in-your-mouth and rich. I would recommend sharing this plate with a person or two: portion size is BIG. Price is kind of steep at $25, but overall taste was solid. Slaw on the side helps balance the meatyness of the plate. NOTE: This is NOT a sandwich review. Idk why Yelp tagged it as that but whatevs. Service: Solid and friendly. Relatively quick. It would've been nice to try the brisket before ordering, but still nice the lady let me sample even though I already bought the plate. Ambiance: Feels...briskety? Haha. Idk. It was chill. Overall, I'll give them a 4 out of 5 since it's a nice change of pace when it comes to the Ala Moana food court. read more

So this is a new place in Ala Moana in the bottom food court area. Depending on what time you go it does get crowded but luckily we went before the lunch rush so it wasn't that busy. I got the brisket bowl with side of Mac and cheese and I got to say the brisket was pretty good and delicious they give us Verda sauce so I think we was supposed to dip the brisket into it but I'm not to sure. I did try it but I like the brisket just by itself oh yeah they served it over a bed of garlic rice man that was yummy! read more
