Wow, I defiantly got my MEAT ON at LA Brisket... Was doing some shopping and famished from an exhausting evening of spending money I decided it's time to eat. Reviewing my options I'm standing at LA Brisket and a lady offered me a taste, OH MY I WAS SIGNED DEALED & DELIVERED at first bite. So I order a plate of flesh with rice. I watched as my flesh was carved and hand placed onto the bed of rice. A ladle of juice was drizzled over my mound of meat obviously to enhance flavor and it worked. My box was then presented to me and I moved to the consuming area.... Upon opening I sniffed the aroma permeating the air and knife & fork went to work like a buzz saw ripping through a very moist & hot mound of meat. Each bite was like eating from the Garden of Eden but meat vs an apple... A very satisfying meal from an unexpected place. Thanks to the sample lady for offering me a taste of her flesh to dine on. Frank B will be back!

Disclaimer, I am not nor claim to be a self labeled BBQ expert...let alone a food expert. Wanted to try something I've never had at the Ala Moana food court. I haven't had southern BBQ in a long time so my curiosity and cravings led me here and I was not disappointed! The brisket sandwich I ordered was very tasty. I noticed the staff toasting the bun while they were slicing the brisket. Bun was nicely toasted, soft yet not flimsy. The meat itself was very tender, flavorful and smokey. The sides I ordered hit every flavor profile, seasoned well and the portions were big enough for 2-3 people. Customer service was great. The cashier was so pleasant and very knowledgeable. Price point was about $16 for the sandwich and $6 each side. I'm not an expert at BBQ but I do know that smoked BBQ is NOT CHEAP. That is a good thing because cheap means processed and tough. I did not expect food court BBQ to be this good and glad I followed my gut...and this case, followed my nose from the smell of hickory smoke. Yes, I wanted all the smoke.

Honolulu Bowl (L to R) - Smoked Chicken Thigh, Beef Brisket, and Pulled Pork with Garlic Rice, Slaw, and Salsa Verde
Mike L.

If you're a regular at Costco, or even just been to one before, you know the power the power that free samples. For one, it will always attract attention, but it also has the potential to sway people's minds. And, in this case, boy did it work. Despite admittedly feeling a bit skeptical of getting BBQ from a food court eatery, the bit of brisket we tried was more than enough to convince us to not only stop check out what L.A Brisket has to offer, but to order from here as well! Although L.A. Brisket's menu may not be super extensive, it's not short on appealing options either. Whether as part of a bowl, sandwich, or salad, their Brisket, Pulled Pork, and Smoked Chicken all looked so good. Which made it such an easy decision to get their HONOLULU BOWL ($25) that comes with Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Chicken, Garlic Rice, Slaw, and Salsa Verde, so that we could try some of just about everything! -- BEEF BRISKET My favorite thing we had! The smoke ring was surprisingly thick, the bark had a wonderful, smoky flavor to it, and the fat cap wasn't overly thick. However, the most impressive thing about this how melt-in-your-mouth tender this was - so good! -- PULLED PORK All in all, this was pretty solid. Some of the edges felt a little dry, but they were crisp with a nice bit of smokiness to it. Plus, the pork had just a touch of fattiness which also helped to keep the meat rather moist. -- SMOKED CHICKEN THIGH Not all that amazing, but not too shabby either. Unlike with the other two meats, this didn't have as much of a smokiness to it (I think the skin captured a lot of it), but As for the Mac Salad and Garlic Rice, the former was fine for what it is, but the latter was great. To be fair, I'm always a fan of Garlic Rice, but all of that garlicky goodness worked especially well with the BBQ meats. The Salsa Verde seemed pretty decent as well, but I'd be lying if I said I had anything more than just a taste of it (I just didn't think the meats needed it). While none of the three meats can match up to the best I've had (sadly, in Texas and not in the Bay Area), all of them better were far better than average. That alone makes L.A. Brisket quite impressive, but even more so considering they're a food court eatery. Not to mention the fat that our order came with a practical mound of food! Between this place, Lahaina Chicken, and all of the other eateries in Ala Moana that I've yet to try, I'm going to have a heck of a time deciding on what to eat the next time I'm here!

They had free samples of brisket, that's all I needed to try. I opted for the dark leafy greens salad , it's crisp and fresh the brisket is so soft and full of flavor. It's a 5/5

The 101 Sandwich

Went around 10:30 am on a Saturday, not too busy. We ordered the Brisket bowl, 101 sandwich, and waffle fries. The Brisket Bowl was good. The brisket was tender with a nice smoky flavor, but the real star was the rice--super flavorful and so good on its own. It comes with a green sauce that looks like salsa verde but tastes like a cross between chimichurri and salsa verde. It was runny, tangy, and vinegar-forward, which cut through the richness of the meat nicely. The purple pickled cabbage added a great crunch and balance. The 101 Sandwich was tasty but definitely messy--make sure to grab extra napkins (we only got one). The brisket here was shredded and thinner than in the bowl, but still flavorful. The Waffle Fries were crispy, though a little too salty for our taste. Service was quick and friendly. We got our food within 5-10 minutes of ordering. In between helping customers, the staff were also offering free samples of brisket to folks passing by. This place is located in the downstairs food court at alamoana. Overall, delicious brisket with fast service. It's a good spot to grab a hearty meal.

The 710 Sandwich $26 bucks so NOT WORTH IT. Burnt the bun, 3 pieces for brisket and stale waffle fries. AWFUL

I have been here before so I had to come again. They are in the food court at the Ala Moana mall so it definitely gets busy. I was lucky enough to come when they weren't too busy. The service was friendly and they have good suggestions. It is very noisy since it is in the food court. The food came out quick enough. I got it to go and when I got to my hotel room, I devoured it all. Very moist and a thick portion. Oh, it was the brisket sandwich with an elote cup. Sooo good. I did add coleslaw to the sammy. Overall it was delicious

Honolulu bowl with mac and cheese
Hailley O.

Although this place is in a food court, the bbq here is quite good! We shared the Honolulu bowl which had brisket and double pulled pork (they were out of chicken) and we subbed the slaw for mac and cheese. Both the brisket and pork were tender and moist. The meat had a good flavor to it too. The rice tasted like your standard rice but the mac and cheese was just ok. It had almost a nacho cheese flavor to it which I thought was a bit odd. It was also an additional $3 charge which I don't think was worth it. I wouldn't mind coming here again but I do think it's a bit pricey for what you get especially in a food court. At least the portions are a good size!

They pulled me in with the free samples haha. L.A. Brisket was interesting. I got a plate with brisket, garlic rice, and it came with a side of a sort of salsa verde. The meal gave off Filipino style vibes especially with the garlic rice but it was all really good. A little bit on the pricy side for what you get but that's life nowadays. Brisket tasted fine but a few parts were a little on the drier side. Will I go back here? Probably not. But was it a bad meal? No, it was perfectly fine. The staff were really nice too so that's cool.

Brisket Bowl

Having a BBQ spot inside a food court at a mall seemed a bit sketchy, but in all honesty LA Brisket was pretty good. I stood there a little bit wondering if I should try this place or not. Finally they gave me a little sample and I was pretty surprised on how good the brisket actually was. I went ahead and ordered a brisket bowl with rice and slaw. Everything was really good, the brisket was fatty (in a good way) and plenty tender and Smokey. The slaw was fine, the rice fine as well. The prices were decent. All in all I was very happy with my meal. So if you're in the Ala Moana Center go by the food court and try LA Brisket!

JessicaLynn R.

So flavorful, juicy, and tender. For some reason the rice had a different flavor to it and I liked it; Maybe it was the juices from the brisket but man this was some good rice. Will definitely come back for more. The slaw was a perfect compliment to the brisket and the sauce was perfect, Chefs kiss! Service was fast and quick. Price is a little steep but we'll worth it!

Brisket sandwich. Needs more sauce.
Todd M.

The brisket is soft and smoky. A little dry but not overly dry where you can't eat it. I had the BBQ sandwich. For $17 I was unimpressed. It needs to be slathered in barbecue sauce and a scoop of coke slaw wouldn't hurt. It needs something. And if you could add it on, well then the employees need to ask if you want any add ons. Do to sum it up, there's better choices in the area that you can spend $17 and get a lot more.

Sorry, but gotta keep it real-- this place was a foul ball. Mrs. Picante and I wanted our cake and…read moreeat it too: we wanted pho, but didn't want to walk too far from the hotel. This place was just two blocks away, so we braved the November misty rain and consistent wind through the buildings to make it over here. To be fair, this seemed more like a Vietnamese coffee joint and a Banh Mi place... so maybe coming here for pho wasn't our best idea. They had two kinds available that night-- beef and chicken. Since chicken pho is not something I'm willing to try, we both ordered up the dac biet. The broth was bland with a thin and unpleasant veil of grease along the top that congealed quickly on the rim of the bowl. It wasn't hot enough, or maybe the pre-cooked and chilled noodle block they poured it over cooled it off. Meat was chewy and low quality. The sprouts and basil were soggy and wilted. Honestly, it was a get up and leave kind of thing. The whole place was just dingy and didn't feel great. I've eaten at some very modest places in my native San Gabriel Valley in Southern California, so it's not a snobbery thing. It's a "someone get a Swiffer wet jet and some paper towels and give this whole place a once-over. Speaking of once, that's the sum total of times we'll ever eat here. Too bad... because it was really close to our hotel :)

Ordering ahead was easy and convenient, which I appreciated, and pickup was smooth. When I picked up my sandwich, my first thought was, "Wow, this is a heavy sandwich for a turkey-bacon with added avocado, no onions, and no tomato." At the time I assumed the weight meant a generous portion of turkey and bacon. Unfortunately, when I got back to work and opened it, I quickly realized that wasn't the case--it was the lettuce. There was an overwhelming amount of lettuce packed into the sandwich, to the point where it felt completely out of balance. Instead of being turkey-forward, it felt more like a lettuce sandwich with a few toppings added in. The turkey and bacon portions themselves were surprisingly small and unevenly distributed--one half had about two slices of turkey while the other had closer to a slice and a half. Most of the bacon was also concentrated on one half, so I ended up redistributing it just to make the sandwich feel a bit more balanced. The bread didn't help either. I think I shouldn't have gotten it toasted--it just didn't do it for me. It felt a little off with the filling and didn't add anything to the overall experience. I ordered The Duke, but what I didn't realize was that I was essentially getting a salad sandwich (see pic). I like lettuce on a sandwich, but this was next level--the amount completely overwhelmed everything else inside. The cost was another consideration--my total came to $19.37, including a $3.50 charge for avocado. For the portion size and balance of ingredients, I expected a bit more bang for my buck. If I give this place a second chance, I'll definitely need to say 'lite lettuce'--or maybe just 'no lettuce, please'--unless I want another salad disguised as a sandwich!

I had visited their sister location the night before in Waikīkī and had such a great experience that I told my wife, "If this place is anything like last night, we're in for something good." She agreed--and we decided to give it a shot. Right when we walked in, we were greeted by Colby, a tall, friendly guy with a great attitude. I mentioned my experience from the night before, and he immediately said he wanted to live up to that standard. That kind of response set a really positive tone. We ordered two Aroma Specials: Dolce & Banana (me) Nutella Latte (my wife) For food, we went with: P.B. Delight açaí bowl Turkey pesto panini Bacon & egg bagel Total came out to about $62, which we expected given the location near the beach. We grabbed a seat inside by the window (outside seating was full--no surprise on such a beautiful morning). Our drinks came out quickly--but unfortunately, this is where things started a little rough. We both noticed right away that something was off. My wife's Nutella latte didn't have that rich hazelnut flavor you'd expect, and my Dolce & Banana was missing the banana entirely. Honestly, they tasted almost identical. When I politely mentioned it to a staff member who brought out our food, the response felt dismissive and didn't really address the concern--which was disappointing and definitely not the experience we were hoping for. At that point, we decided to just enjoy the food and move forward--and I'm glad we did, because the food was fantastic. The turkey pesto panini was loaded with flavor, perfectly crispy on the outside, and packed with melty cheese. The bacon & egg bagel was hearty, well-balanced, and super satisfying. The P.B. Delight açaí bowl was the surprise standout--perfectly blended, fresh, and the peanut butter added an awesome richness that made it feel like a treat. Everything on the food side absolutely delivered. A few minutes later, Colby came by to check on us--and this is where the entire experience turned around. I let him know honestly: "The food is amazing, but the coffee missed the mark." Without hesitation, without attitude, and without making excuses, he said, "Hang on, let me fix that." I even told him not to worry about it--we were enjoying ourselves regardless--but he insisted. "Rick, I got you," he said. Within minutes, he came back with two freshly made drinks and a sincere apology. We took a sip and immediately--night and day difference. The Nutella latte had that rich, distinct hazelnut flavor. The Dolce & Banana finally had that smooth, balanced banana note Exactly what we were hoping for the first time. Colby is the MVP Colby completely turned this experience around. His attitude never changed--he was smiling, positive, kind, and genuinely cared about making things right. No defensiveness, no excuses--just great customer service and follow-through. That kind of service is rare, and it matters. It's evident that not all the workers have that same dedication to customer service but Colby does! What could have been a disappointing visit ended up being a great one because of him. Hawaiian Aroma Caffè--take care of this young man! He represents your business incredibly well. He needs to be leading your team on what customer service looks like and they need to follow his lead. From naming customers by their first name, to holding that perfect smile the entire time, to checking in with guests after receiving their meals and really caring about their experience. Colby naturally has it and should be showing every one how to do it as well! The Future Looks Bright for Colby and if you don't take of him, someone smart will! Final Thoughts Great food, great location, and a really cool atmosphere--but what stood out most was the service recovery. Mistakes happen anywhere. What matters is how they're handled--and Colby handled it perfectly. Because of him, we'll absolutely be back. Thank you again, Colby--keep doing your thing. You made our day. - Dr. Rick
