Since we were in the company of a bunch of preteens, ice tea and mango bubble thingies were enjoyed by all. (For the future: they have a full bar, with everything from beers to fruity drinks to shots. I didn't see sake on the menu, but I'm not a fan so didn't look really hard). Apps were good, with serving sizes plentiful. We ordered fried calamari (served in stick form, not rings; weird but tasty), really nice tempura, and Ying Yang shrimp (the spicy may sauce was OK, but the wasabi sauce was killer!). For mains we focused on: sushi. Lots and lots of sushi. The rolled sushi menu is very long; the sushi (actually nigiri) and sashimi menu not so much. Nothing on the menu described how big the portions were so the 'dults each ordered a several different selections, both rolls and sushi. This kiddies ordered ramen, and Spousal Unit got Drunken Noodles with Chicken along with a sushi roll. Turns out the rolls were HUGE so we overordered dramatically (pro tip: ask in the future). Everything was fresh and tasty. My only quibble was that the Spider Roll appeared to be fried surimi (artificial crab) not soft shell crab. How could I tell? No legs, baby! We rolled out stuffed, with a doggie bag full of sushi for Daddy Dearest's second dinner. The price was very reasonable, and the quality far better than Lantern Sushi (but not as good as Sushi Nomo or Lazy Fish). Middle-Oldest Grand Daughter's birthday dinner was a success - and I'm already looking forward to next year's!

After shopping in Frederick's historic district along E. Patrick on a late Saturday afternoon, we…read moredecided to grab dinner. In consulting Yelp, we discovered Tsunami, located near the intersection of E. Patrick and N. Market. We were greeted warmly and seated in a not terribly busy restaurant. However, by the time we left, every table was taken. Actually, we noticed when heading back to our car afterwards, that all the restaurants along E. Patrick were completely filled with patrons. A lively area! Tsunami's menu is filled with Japanese and Korean options. They look to have a happy hour menu for weekday evenings. For appetizers, we started with the Teriyaki Bites and Miso Black Cod. Oh my, let me tell you, the Miso Black Cod was fabulous. The cod was fresh and we loved its lightly spicy delicious sauce. The spinach that came with the dish was excellent. We also loved the little mushrooms, cucumber and shaved carrot that came with the dish. The steamed buns Teriyaki Bites were good, but they stuck to the rack they came in, tearing apart when pulling them from the rack. For entrees, we ordered the Spicy Beef Bugolgi Ramen and Curry Karaage. The ramen's beef was excellent and the broth tasty and compelling. A great dish. The Curry Karaage was good. Along with the pieces of karaage chicken, this dish came with kind of a mix of cabbage and rice, potato and carrot. The curry flavor was very mild. Service was excellent through our entire meal.

That's the good news. The less-good: they kept the fans over the hibachi off to help keep the restaurant warm (unsuccessfully as it turns out) making dinner a very smoky experience. Would I go back? With the kiddies, probably, but there are better choices I'd rather enjoy with adults. I'll sum up the experience in a haiku: Flames lick the steel plate Onion volcano sighs low-- Fried rice dreams bigger.
