Last night took couple of friends for their first time eating at the food court. Our orders came out quick, hot and ample that I had to take home my spicy chicken miso ramen. We ordered sushi and ramen. Both enjoyed their orders. I've always gone there for quick pick me up meal. I enjoyed my order of TNT roll (good spicy) and ramen. There's plenty of space and tables to bring friends to enjoy the food and hang out before or after shopping. Crowded even when it was close to the 7:30 pm closing time. read more

I purchased two young Thai coconuts at $2.50 each that are $5 each at Sprouts or Safeway. A pleasant surprise. Folks at work wanted to meet here for lunch; I was like isn't it just a grocery store? Still didn't really know until I got there. Yes it's a grocery store primarily but there is a whole section that is several small restaurants and a Korean airport gift shop. There is one spot to pay for everything then you wait for your number and figure out which restaurant made your food. You know you love your server because it's you: you get to serve your food and bus your table when done. Don't forget to tip yourself. Food was pretty good; everyone got their own thing. Mine was orange chicken. No complaints. They have some Korean-specific snacks and drinks (like the flavored Kit Kats and glass bottle drinks), some cute school supplies and plush toys too. read more

It's a grocery store. What is there to write about? Well! I have been to 3 Hmarts in NOVA and MoCo, but this one is by far the cleanest. It doesn't get that crazy foot traffic so it's easier to maintain. It's not overly crowded and they have fruits and vegetables well stocked. Their food court is newly renovated and large and spacious and the food isn't bad at all. I think this place checks all the criteria for a good grocery store. The one thing I can complain about is how far it is from everything. It's a bit isolated in a shopping center that I don't know what else I can buy from. I only come here for Hmart. That's about it. It's close to the highway to head back. It's a bit hard to turn into, but doable. read more

This Hmart provides a good number of solid food choices. We walked through a number of options before settling on the Jjolmyun and the Mapo tofu options. Both were excellent but I'd say the jjolmyun wasn't that outstanding. Mapo tofu was a 4/5, a solid choice that would be in the middle of the pack for take out Chinese food. All in all, I'd try out the food if you're in the area but nothing that spectacular to pay a visit. read more

H Mary has become one of my favorite food halls in the area so far!! First of all, it's a grocery store that has a food court! The best of both worlds. I tried hot stone bibimbab for the very first time and have to say that I was extremely impressed by all the flavors! Look at the video I posted and listen to that wonderful sizzle! The are multiple restaurants to order from. You order from one central location and listen for your number, you then go to the restaurant you chose your food from to pick it up! We drove up from Montco to check H Mart out. We have several International type markets near where I live, so I wanted to compare. I have to say, I much prefer my Montgomery County options. There was nothing wrong with the H Mart. It has all the things you'd expect from an international market and it had a nice selection of produce and a large take out food area. But compared to my options nearby, it just didn't stand out and it wasn't as large as some of my other choices. If you're up in Frederick and want ingredients from an international market, then definitely check it out, but if you live in Montgomery, it's not worth the trip.. read more

I don't live too close but when i'm in the area this is my go to for food. Unassuming since it's in a grocery store, but its quite the gem. Their food court features a wide variety of asian foods, and the pricing is very fair as well. There is a lot of spacious seating so when you're in a big group and can't decide on food, this is the place. You order all the food in one place and pick it up in separate stalls. They have your order number on screens so it's quite easy. I always order the jja jjangmyun, so good. There was an absolute $ht ton of onions in it, which i love so that was great. The fried shrimp combo was delicious as well - you can't go wrong. There's also a bakery inside, which i have yet to try. On a roadtrip back to Baltimore from Pittsburgh, we wanted to get a bite to eat for dinner and do some grocery shopping for the week. When I realized Frederick had an H Mart, it was a eureka moment. We ate in the food court (a sushi roll, gyudon (Japanese beef bowl), and shumai), and then did our grocery shopping. I couldn't love H Mart more - great food court, amazing produce, amazing selection of meat, fish, everything...! I wish there was one closer to us in Baltimore. It's just absolutely my favorite place to grocery shop. Has everything you need and then some! You can go for 2 things and leave with 100. It's just amazing. And this location is great. H Mart is a staple for our family when we want to shop for Asian groceries. They have a large selection of fresh produce, meats, and seafood. There's even a Korean style bakery with lots of yummy treats and cakes, a variety of bubble teas and smoothies. And then there is a food court with a selection of Asian food, which includes Korean style BBQ short ribs, Japanese ramen and sushi, Vietnamese pho, and Chinese food. Today, I tried sushi from Lee's Sushi and it was definitely fresh and very affordable. Love the variety of the food court here when I want a quick but comforting meal. One tip, when visiting the food court. I always have a wonderful time shopping at H-Mart; you can find any and everything from vegetables, hard-to-find items and cookware. I could easily spend an hour in the store just looking around. I recently tried the food court and, like the store, I was not disappointed. There are several food stalls featuring dishes from several Asian cuisines. I decided on a dish and placed my order. NOTE: You place your order at one, centralized location and then pick up you food at the individual stalls. I waited in the dining area and picked up my order when my number was called. I decided on katsudon and it was perfect. I highly recommend visiting H-Mart if you have the opportunity. I will definitely stop by again in the near future! read more

Hands down the best Asian market in the area! It's located in a shopping center in Frederick off of West Patrick St. exit. Marcell's Bakery: Different types of breads and pastries made fresh daily. I bought two mocha cream bread and a breakfast apple muffin and both were delicious! They also offer bubble teas and cakes! Minimum of $5 if using a card. Food Court: Is this what heaven looks like? I've tried the ramen, sushi, korean fried chicken (similar to Bonchon), and fried rice all different kiosks. I have no complaints because everything was full of flavor and delicious! I was a bit overwhelmed my first time because I wanted to order everything on the menu. Ordering your food is simple. They give you a ticket after ordering and will overhead page when the food is ready. Grocery: Vegetables, fruits and meats are always fully stocked and fresh! I noticed a section just for kimchi and sides. Samples in different areas of the store! The frozen section has everything you're looking for. They offer different types of ice cream! Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised for it being a grocery store eatery. It was spacious with plenty of seating and even after it being a year, it was clean! The cleanliness alone is a bonus for me. There are 4 main food spots: Wakers chicken, Ichido Ramen, Lee's sushi, and Sogongdong Tofuhouse. There's also a snack shop called Delimanjoo that sells mainly an array of bottled drinks and taiyaki dessert and a bakery/coffee/bubble tea spot called Cafe L' Ami. I waited 15mins for Waker's chicken, which isnt too bad seeing how it was made to order. The chicken was juicy and the batter was crunchy. It was great in the beginning but I started getting a flour after taste towards the end. Their soy garlic sauce was good but it was tangy/sweet instead of savory/sweet like Bonchon. Also grabbed some premade salmon nigiri that was in the display case at Lee's and that was yummy. The fish was fresh and buttery and it came with a bonus miso soup. Lastly, we ordered the japanese curry rice and pork buns from Ichido. The buns were a pass but the curry rice was comfort in a bowl. read more

Have never been to a better International Market in or around my area before! Not only do they have all their shelves pretty much stocked, but they also have this awesome Food hall or Cafeteria where they have some of the best Dishes I've ever had out while shopping and such! They have so many varieties of any kind of food item you need! The staff is also well acquainted with the store they work in, any question I've ever had they've been able to answer it or show me where a certain item I'm looking for is! One thing I do love is each year they offer these Annual Calendars to their Customers and they come with cool neat meals to cook and its just something that's small but very nice and unique about them, I think! How am I so late to this party? It's a hidden gem. Found this place while looking for ramen in Frederick. I don't shop at Hmart a lot and usually not the one in Frederick. My mistake! This food court is like The Block or Pike Kitchen where there are different stops for different types of food. The variety isn't as diverse as the other places but still has plenty to choose from - sushi, ramen, bibimbop, seafood pancake, etc. I can't wait to go back to try more items! The big plus for this food court is that it's so clean and nice. Asian grocery store hot foods are usually pretty tasty, but the environment is not always inviting (they're kinda dingy). This place is open, clean, and has ample seating. It's nice enough you'd stop in just for hot food and not bc you need groceries. But of course the added advantage to eating here is after stuffing your face, you can walk off the calories and replenish them with the food you buy in the rest of the store. :-) read more

Had Lee's Sushi. Waited nearly twenty minutes, in a relatively quiet food court for sashimi, and soup. The tuna and salmon I got was not only not sashimi quality, it tasted frozen, and that was the leanest tuna I've ever been served, and it was sliced half as wide as my pinky. The soup was marginal, and grainy, and the bottom of the container was filled with tofu. I like some tofu with my miso. Just not the other way around. To be fair, the person who handed me my order was apologetic about the wait, but she wasn't behind the line. Slow and mediocre at best. I don't recommend it. You might have better luck out of the sushi case in the market. read more

There is a food court also. The service at the bakery coffee shop was helpful and patient. My baked goods were fresh and warm from the oven. I must have purchased about 20 different things because...'I was like a kid in a candy shop' except, it was a bakery. There were some incredibly unusual items of which I had never before seen. I love to try new things. My dad and I were on a road trip and we were noshing on my delightful purchase across four states. The food court at H Mart is truly a hidden gem. There are tons of options- you can choose between ramen, Korean fried chicken, Chinese food, Korean food, udon, sushi, and more. There are often lots of samples too. I tried a slice of pork tonkatsu and it was amazing! Basically you figure out what you want and pay at one central counter, then hold on to your receipt to see what number your order is. They'll announce it over the loudspeaker and you go to the food stall the food is from. It can be a little confusing at first but it's crazy easy once you understand the system. I got a bowl of rice roll and dumpling soup from the Korean place and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was perfectly cooked, the broth was flavorful, and there was a spot-on ratio of dumplings and rice rolls. I left feeling full and satisfied. I can't wait to come back and try the other options. There is also a bakery separate from the food court that has lots of great options. I picked up a sausage roll and a custard pastry and they were both fantastic, as was the milk tea I bought. I highly recommend perusing the options at the bakery. The grocery store itself has a Korean sides bar, which would pair perfectly with the marinated meats they have if you want to create your own Korean barbecue experience at home. The store is clean, well-stocked, and has a wide variety of options. There are employees handing out samples everywhere as well-- don't sleep on the fruit samples! I had to go in there on Wednesday, 11/25/20, to pick up a few items for Thanksgiving. Since this is the only Asian market in Frederick, I don't really have a choice. The moment I walked through the door, I was hit with an overwhelming, sickening smell of what I can only imagine is bad seafood. This place has smelled nasty before, but it's usually contained to what they consider the "seafood" area. It was so incredibly rank, that I had to put my hand over my nose and mouth...that was ALREADY covered by my mask. Grocery stores should not smell like this. SEAFOOD should not smell like this! Unless you are buying something prepackaged, like I was....don't shop here. I've already contacted the health department. read more

The seafood jjambong I ordered from the food court is full of flavor but a little too salty for my taste. I thought there were too many noodles compared to veggies/seafood so I was thinking if I order this again I'll see if they can customize more toppings vs. noodles. Good came out fairly quickly considering we ordered 10 minutes before closing, huge kudos as most restaurants will not allow you to order that close to closing. The food court is pretty big with lots of seating compared to other hmart food courts I have been to which is a plus. I'll definitely be back to try the bibimbap or the sushi. read more

I come to this location about every 3 months to get some pig feet. I ask the men in the meat department to cut it up smaller because the pieces are too big. Well, they usually cut it with no problem, but this morning, they did not want to WORK. They tell me they can't cut it...huh yall been cutting it. The guy says no, I'm sorry it's cut. Soooo I go to the manager of the meat department. She goes back there with me as the guy is out. She tell them to cut the big pieces smaller. Boomm, he cut it, but then... he give me attitude at the end. He threw my meat up on the counter when he was done. His face was all twisted!! He better be glad I had already paid for my meat, or I would have thrown it back at him. So unnecessary, you have a job but don't want to work. Some people...huh!!! read more

I'm torn... I preferred G Nart that was previously at this location as it has a wider variety of products. Each aisle seemed to be be from a different country or region from around the world. H mart is more Korean focused as it obviously indicates in its advertising. H Mart is also a lot cleaner, no broken floor tiles and the produce section is rotated often with little worry that stuff might be off or moldy. But that was a unexpected challenge of it's predecessor. Staff are also friendly and the curry around like they enjoy their jobs. This means if there are issues like hysterical husband blindness (of which in a sufferer) then there will be someone close by to help you. I do miss the variety though. They don't do enough veggie stuff. Gone are the vegan duck replacement stuff and more worrisome for me is the lack of the vegan fish stuff. Saving grace is the canned ice coffees. The Macadamia nut one is my personal favorite. Inexpensive too for 99 cents a can. But do not buy it! It's mine ok? read more
