Not too shabby! I was expecting not the best as it's located in far from the best part of town. But assuming made an add out of me! Clean, spacious good quality of produce and other goods, and friendly staff. I'd be more than happy to make this my regular place to do my weekly shop. But it's a bit far away... But during those times of Covid this place was not quite a life saver, but a quality of living saver. Kudos! read more

WHY did you have to do this to me, Giant? I LOVED Giant, drove out of my way, for Giant, always in stock of everything I needed, at Giant. But then you had to go and put a GIANT WAD OF HAIR, in a tray of cinnamon buns from the bakery. Not only that, it was all the way at the bottom so now I have to live with the fact that I let my family eat almost an entire tray of disgusting hair infested cinnamon buns all week. I might be able to convince myself it never happened with ONE stray hair (NOT saying it's ok) but a WAD of hair?!?! This should be a federal crime. I feel so violated. So, what's the verdict here? You've got some sick-o who puts hair in the food because they hate mankind, or you've got some jerk-o who won't wear a hairnet because they've got ZERO respect for anyone & hates their job with a passion. To make matters worse, 2 months ago I was buying bread here & wanted to try the new Natures Own bread, and there were little black fruit flys flying around inside of the bag. I do my general grocery shopping at Giant Eagle and my specialty international food shopping at H-Mart. Admittedly, Wegman's has a better produce section and hot food bar. But Giant Eagle isn't too far behind and I can get in and out more quickly than Wegmans. I also feel I get more bang-for-the-buck here. I'm hopeful that the West 7th Street Giant Eagle will begin offering Curbside Express pickup soon. None of the other grocery stores on this side of town compare. read more

I stopped here on my way back home from Allentown for a bag of potato chips. I picked my favorite brand which was on sale with Giant Eagle card. I went to the check-out and scanned my "Giant" card from VA. The machine loudly announced "your card is invalid!" A store clerk rushed to me and asked me if I had my Giant Eagle card and I said "I have my Giant card but not Giant Eagle card." The nice young lady scanned her Giant Eagle card and gave me a discount on my potato chips. I thought that was really nice. read more

Basically this is my go-to for shopping. This particular location is very convenient even more than ever since the purchase of the CVS that was renovated to become part of Giant Eagle. Now Giant Eagle has a very nice health care n cosmetic area near the pharmacy wrapped by the outskirted walls with eggs, cheese n milk. The gas perks make it worth my time for the most part to do 80% of my shopping here. Either 20% off groceries or 30gallons of free has after you've spent enough on groceries or has worked well for me. I live very close so it's easy for me to do. The sales at Giant Eagle can be very reasonable but they still overprice some items. I suspect it's to offset the perks somehow. If your careful you can make it work but you have to be attentive to what your spending and how much you're getting. read more

Bait and switch tactics. Went in for shrimp they had advertised in their weekly ad. They said they never got it in and would not give me a rain check. Said they're not responsible for the ad because it comes from corporate. The store manager actually told me their ad prices aren't guaranteed. But the clincher...they had the same size and type of shrimp for a dollar more--plenty of that! This seems like bait and switch to me! They also told me the store on 4O wouldn't have it if they didn't have it, since they get the same stock. Guess what--the store on 40 had it. Also put a lot of ice in the bag for the $12.99 a pound crab legs--before weighing it--and refused to remove it, saying they couldn't open the (zip lock) bag once they closed it. Said they allow for the ice, that the weight machine takes off for that. I had them try to prove it. First it came out to 0, then they managed to have it show that it took off a penny (@$12.99 a pound...the ice weighed a lot more than that!) I should have just given it back to them and left! Shady practices. I'll be shopping at the one on 40 now and reporting this one to corporate. read more

I love Giant Eagle they have fresh produce and sushi. They also have a salad bar and a variety of hot foods available if you want to stop in for lunch or don't feel like cooking dinner. This store is always clean and stocked well. The cashiers are friendly and knowledgeable about the operations of the store and what they carry. This store has a dry cleaners, sushi bar and tables and chairs to sit and eat. You can purchase pizza, chicken and subs hot and ready to eat. They also have a large pharmacy and a seafood section. And yes they will steam your seafood while you wait, hell yeah! I'm getting carried away again aren't I ? Anyways I love this Giant Eagle store there are a few in my area but this one is the nicest. read more

I am one of those people that like the more upscale, modern supermarkets of the 21st century, like Whole Foods or Wegman's. I like Giant Eagle for its fuel perks. I never have to pay "tag price" when I feel up on gas. Everyone raves about their friend chicken. I see it when I shop, it's almost like a drug to them, it's a bit ridiculous. Tried it... eh, I'd rather get Popeyes. The customer service is a hit and miss. The color scheme of the store is a bit outdated. Looks like someone smeared s**t on the walls read more

My husband and I just moved from Silver Spring to Frederick and we were very spoiled because we had a Whole Foods just two blocks away. Now, Giant Eagle does not have a lot of organic options, but you can still expect an extremely clean and well-organized store with high quality groceries. If you're a frequent shopper, you can expect great discounts (10%) on your entire purchase. We still haven't been to Wegman's because we haven't found the need to. read more

Stopped by the store a few weeks back on a Sunday evening to get items at the deli. It was to be open for 20 more minutes but when I arrived at the deli counter I was told they were no longer open. Why advertise that you are open certain hours if that will not be the case. Very disappointed in this type of service and will use other stores in the area read more

This place is massive! 24 hours as well. Great selection, and they have the space for it! The prices are high, so look for the deals. When you get the loyalty card, for every $50 you spend, you get $.20 off up to 30 gallons of gas. There is no limit to how much of a reward you can get. The clerk at the gas station told me that you can get it down to where the price of gas is free, so bring gas cans! It really was awesome filling up with high octane for $20! read more

I literally moved here last night. This is a gigantic place. And I'm used to huge stores, but still. The cheese area offers some unique cheeses I haven't seen and I'm excited to try. The checkout lady was super nice and friendly even at 9 pm. So far a good first stop in Frederick. read more

I have to admit disappointment over the past 6 months in the Frederick stores. The Patrick store is being updated and that's great, however, both stores ( 7th St. ) are removing items from inventory and it's highly annoying.l First, you stopped carrying Melitta coffee, now you are not carrying Totino's pizzas, cheddar cheese and caramel popcorn and Basic 4 cereal. I understand marketing and inventory, but WHY does every store force customers to go to multiple outlets ( Walmart/Giant ) to get food items?? The same vendors ( Utz ) carry these items between stores in the same city?!?! read more

Went to pick up lunch yesterday was happy and food looked delicious. I get to the checkout line for 15 items or less, only had 4 items, was told I had to get a shoppers card or I would have to wait in massive lines. Left my lunch on self checkout stand and walked out. They WILL NOT allow you to self checkout without letting them track you! Avoid at all cost! Safeway is right around the corner read more

I mostly like this grocery store. They have a pretty good selection of the things I like. I just wish there was a bit more thought given to where they place some of their items. Still, the fact that I can rack up discounts on gasoline makes this my "go to" grocery store. Yeah, they make up the difference by adding a few more cents to the goods, but it all works out for the best in the end. After all, you gotta eat, right? And if you move around a lot, you gotta buy gasoline, right. So, what we have here is a case of killing two birds with one stone -- sort of. Warning: If you're easily tempted, steer clear of the bakery section. Every time I walk by that part of the store, I quietly repeat the 21st Psalms to myself -- "Yea, though I walk through the valley of death, I shall fear no evil." Invariably, however, I give in and end up buying something delicious to devour as soon as I get home. So much for the 21st Psalms. read more
