I come to this location about every 3 months to get some pig feet. I ask the men in the meat department to cut it up smaller because the pieces are too big. Well, they usually cut it with no problem, but this morning, they did not want to WORK. They tell me they can't cut it...huh yall been cutting it. The guy says no, I'm sorry it's cut. Soooo I go to the manager of the meat department. She goes back there with me as the guy is out. She tell them to cut the big pieces smaller. Boomm, he cut it, but then... he give me attitude at the end. He threw my meat up on the counter when he was done. His face was all twisted!! He better be glad I had already paid for my meat, or I would have thrown it back at him. So unnecessary, you have a job but don't want to work. Some people...huh!!! read more

I adore H Mart. My only regret is not discovering this place sooner. It's got a full food court with lots of different Asian food choices (hint- all orders regardless of restaurant are placed at the quick market, then you pick up at the individual restaurant counters)... giant stone bowls of bibimbop, Korean chicken, Chinese food, udon, sushi... they have it all. Plus, they have an amazing prepared foods section and their produce is awesome. The prices are great, there's plenty of hard to find stuff, and they carry plenty of American traditional items as well. But what's really notable is their fish counter- they have an unparalleled selection of whole fish, with fishmongers on standby to clean and prepare it to each clients preference. Head off, head on, scaled, gutted, deboned or not... it's all up to you. And, for those of us who get hungry while we shop---- on Sundays they have samples samples everywhere. It's like Costco, only exclusively asian. I went today, and it was amazing. For folks who aren't into Asian cuisine- take note- they also have a great Hispanic food selection. And as long as you like any fruits and vegetables, it's worth a trip. If you need a few recommendations for things to try- Hami melon (like a crisp version of cantaloupe), bibimbop with beef (the beef is very similar to the bulgogi down at Honeypig in Gaithersburg), yellow kiwis (they are larger and sweeter than the little brown furry guys we get in American grocery stores)... plus they make a mean vegetable maki in store- find it in the back right corner with other Korean prepared foods... I had the opportunity to try out the food court tonight and, unfortunately, have to remove a star. We ordered tonkatsu ramen, gyoza, pork buns, and chicken karaage. The gyoza and karaage were both only slightly warm. The buns were meh, mostly iceberg lettuce. The ramen was pretty bland. I think I've had better ramen from my illegal hotplate in college. Fyi: The method of ordering takes a minute to figure out. No matter which "restaurant" you want to eat from, you place your order at the beverage area. Visited H mart for the first time in March 2023. First impression was WOW! The produce section was well organized and well stocked. The rest of the store was also that way. First time in an H Mart and it was worth it. They have a nice selection of exotic fruits and fresh vegetables. The meat and seafood department offer a good selection of fresh fish along with nice cuts of meats. We found the thin sliced lamb and beef to perfect for lamb cheesesteaks and beef bulgogi. My children really enjoy the ramen isle to be very entertaining and I came across a pack of curry noodles that I'm now fond of. Cool Asian market and we will surely be back. read more

I love coming here for lunch when I'm in the office (arguably not often these days due to COVID and work-from-home options). Bring a thermal bag, because you're going to need one! HMart is probably the best known Korean Market chain. They have stores open from coast to coast, all following the same basic concept- lots of fresh veggies, a massive freezer section, a nice houseware department, and at least one stand serving hot foods. The biggest difference between the stores is one of age. The newer the store, the nicer the amenities. This store is just a year old, and is amazing. Let's start with the food court (because it's where I always start!) and bakery. Huge! Baked goods, boba, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and sushi stands. Plus fried chicken! Order everything (and pay) in one central location. Pick up at the appropriate counter and eat more than you should. Save the bubble tea for your trip home. It's a great reward after a long shopping trip. Now that you're full, wander through the grocery. There are fruits and vegetables of all sorts, jars of every type of sauce, and a nice meat section. Don't skip the snacks aisle. Finally head to the freezer aisle- there are dumplings calling your name! This is the nicest and newest HMart in the area. I swing by every time I'm in Frederick, driving past 3 other Korean markets to get here. Then I head home, trunk filled with dumplings and a bubble drink in hand! read more

I shop here often. Never leaving the store without spending at least a 100.00 if not more. Went to the store and got everything I needed and spent 125.98. The cashier noticed one of the noodle packs were open out of 16 pk And he told the kids to go get another. That was the last box. The manager said no take the box back... we will have more next week. Umm seriously? I bought it already? Like my card was already swiped. So instead of taking a single one and replacing it he said take the box back. I said ok. Have it all. I put everything back. I just love this store. I had never been to an H Mart before moving to Maryland, and there are so, so many good things there. Their mango prices are outstanding, along with their avocado and zucchini prices. I get the ingredients for so many of the Asian dishes I enjoy cooking here (5-spice powder, white pepper powder, summer roll rice paper, spicy Korean ramyun, etc). I also love their banchan selection and often pick up danmuji and crab when I get something from their food court to accompany it. Speaking of the food court--soooo many good things to choose from. I normally get the japchae, tteokbokki, pho, California rolls, or a nice Udon ramen. It's great they have so many varieties of Asian cuisine, so if you're craving Japanese and Korean you can get them without having to drive to different restaurants. I will keep going back. Just love this place. If you've never been or thought they only had groceries, give them a try. read more

Amazing full-feature Asian/International supermarket with an amazing selection, and with a large food court offering menu items from six different meal shops, with take-out or eat-in cuisine from Korea, China, Japan and other Asian countries! This place is a gem! I love it! The layout of the entire supermarket and food court area, as well as the bread/buns/bakery cafe, is very well thought out and planned, and the whole setup is well managed. If I remember correctly, H Mart got its start in the early 1980s in the NYC area, in some of the NYC boroughs, and then in the NYC suburbs, and they seem to have learned a tremendous amount from their experience over the years, because they are very good at what they do. Produce selection is very broad and varied, with produce from across the world, including lots of international items. Produce prices are very reasonable. The food prices at the shops in the food court are ridiculously low for the amount of food that you are given, and for the high quality of the food. The sushi from the Japanese/sushi restaurant is of excellent quality, and they often have pre-packaged sushi-to-go containers ready and waiting in the cooler as well. You can also also custom sushi and sashimi items from the menu. Staffers in both the grocery store section and the food court are, for the most part, very helpful and courteous, and best of all, the seem to be happy, that is, they seem to really enjoy working at H Mart. BTW, the selection of breads, buns, cookies and related baked goods from a wide range of Asian countries is amazing, and the selection offered is always greater on weekends than on weekdays, because weekends apparently see a lot more customer traffic. The meat and seafood departments, particularly the fresh items available, put the corresponding departments at American supermarkets to shame. BTW, there is a large community bulletin board in a sheltered alcove area outside the shop, which bears information, flyers and even hand-written notes and announcements primarily from the Asian/International community. One of the really nice things about the supermarket is that particularly on busier days, such as Friday afternoons onward, and weekend days, there are lots of kiosks set up in various departments, offering free samples of everything from fresh fruit chunks to ice cream to fried rice to hot spicy Korean pancakes. One word of warning: This store is soo good, and its offerings so tempting and varied and amazing, that it almost impossible to enter the store and visit it for even ten minutes without purchasing at least ten or twenty dollars worth of food, whether it be ready-to-eat prepared foods from the food court, or produce or grocery items, even if you had initially entered the store with a firm resolve in mind not to spend any money. So, overall, this store is a job very well done, and its presence is an amazing gift to the city of Frederick, Maryland, and to the West Patrick Street/40 West shopping strip, and to Frederick county. If I could give this store 6 stars instead of 5, I would do so! read more

Check your change!! DH and I have been to the H-Mart in Frederick several times. The first time, we spent over an hour checking out everything. Prices for many of the items are very reasonably priced. Nice variety of fresh fish, fruits, vegetables, etc. We enjoy the food court - yummy Ramen noodle soup, sushi, and other foods. My gripe: When I paid for the food on our first visit, I got back some change. At the check out counter, when I paid for the groceries, I pulled out one of the coins and noticed that it wasn't a quarter but a coins from the UAE!! The cashier asked a woman (assuming she was a supervisor) when I asked him to swap out for a quarter since it came from the food court. The woman said, "Why didn't you check the coins?" I told her it looked like a quarter - same size - and why should I have to check my coins? I'm not in a foreign country where swapping out sometimes occurs. Well, they lost out. I checked online and this coin is worth about $1.29. read more

Food at the food court is amazing. The chicken tastes better than Bon Chon chicken. A lady who works at a cafe here said BonChon tastes better. In my opinion, the Walker chicken has a better crispier taste. I am not a huge fan of BonChon anymore. I'll come back here if I am ever in the area. Also, this location is clean. read more

Hooray! H Mart has come to town and it beat my high expectations. Imagine the bastard love child of a neighborhood ethnic market and a Wegmans, and you've got a pretty good idea of what to expect: Meat, seafood, and produce you won't find anywhere else, a yummy food court, and a wide selection of prepared foods that make it convenient to sample stuff without having to figure out how to make it yourself. The store is upscale and pleasant. It's flat out fun to explore the aisles. And the prices... the prices... H Mart is playing to win. The selection of American staples, particularly dairy and household items, is limited. So H Mart won't get my entire grocery budget, but I'll be going out of my way to shop here from now on. read more

You pay at one central register located in the middle of the food court and then pick your food up at the corresponding restaurant. GROCERY STORE REVIEW - they have a lot of premade, prepackaged Korean food as well as other Asian food options. They have a lot of produce and meat options and the prices are very competitive. Food court: Food varies significantly from one stall to another. Sushi & sashimi have been fresh (as they must be), consistent, and acceptable ratio of rice to fish and other ingredients. Probably three to four stars (have only been twice, so can't say.) Sundubu (soup) is to my taste bland!!! Completely lacking in onion, garlic, vegetables, oils, and hot pepper. If you like sundubu (or spicy food, or Korean food) try something else. Anything else. One star. read more

I am not the one to write negative posts but this matter needs attention. After being a long time Hmart customer, it is time to move on and shop elsewhere. I had the worse experience at the customer service counter where I brought an issue to the customer service representative's attention and she turned me away because of the Hmart return policy. The rice pudding I bought had a bitter, unusual taste unlike the usual good taste it has had the previous times I've bought it. I brought in my receipt as well as the product itself, but she was not concerned about the actual product issue. Instead, she noticed the date and told me she would not give a return or exchange. All I wanted was an exchange because of the product's bad quality. It was around 3 weeks since I bought the product so she told me it was too late for an exchange. This return policy is truly unfair as I did not know this product was not going to be of quality--especially when it was no where near the expiration date. I would like to take this issue up to Corporate because as a loyal customer, I was not treated as one. The customer service lady tells another employee standing inside the customer service booth (in her language) about the situation and so she approaches me and tells me to take the product back home with me because they are not going to give me any return or exchange. This was brutally rude and distasteful. As soon as I asked for the store manager to discuss my issue with, the customer service lady turns around and speaks in another language to a man inside the customer service area. He turns around and tells me he is sorry but is not able to give me an exchange because he does not know where I may have placed the product as it needs to be refrigerated. This mind boggled me. I don't believe this was the manager as his response was rude and unprofessional (mind you, he was talking to me across the customer service booth in a high pitch voice instead of coming towards me--face to face interaction). The least that could have been done was to hear my issue and make sure the product's brand company was well aware of the issue so it would not occur again. I was not asking for money back, all I wanted was the issue rectified and a fair exchange for my paid expense. This whole experience has been horrific and has discouraged me from shopping here. If you are coming to this HMart for the food court...don't. It is very different from the HMart in Fairfax, VA. We were so excited to spot another Sodonggong tofu house but were very disappointed with the seafood tofu stew. If the main item of a restaurant is tofu stew, the default is seafood tofu stew and you expect it to be the highlight menu item. However, the flavor of the stew was too fishy and smelled like old thawed seafood. The pho place next door was mediocre at best but has more potential then Sodonggong tofu. The broth lacked depth and the temperature of the broth cooled down too fast because it was lukewarm to begin with. Possibly due to the lack of competition in the area or restaurant catering to specific demographics allowed these places to stay in business. read more

Loooove. I always leave with 5+ bags of produce for under $30. Much of it is even organic! I avoid the American food (it's overpriced) and the fish area (I don't like fish and it's stinky). The people at the checkout are always real nice and I can get in and out quickly, as long as I don't dilly daddle staring at random exotic fruit. Seriously, the fruit and veggies are soooo cheap. Like all other H-marts, they have super-inexpensive east-Asian foods of all kinds, rare stuff you can only get in Asia usually, but they have it all. Especially low-priced produce (not sure how they get those low prices compared to the main chains), but it includes regular yellow onions, spinach, bean sprouts, green onions etc that are also regular things in US cuisine. On top of that though they have a bunch of other uniquely Asian peppers, lettuces, tofu, weird mushrooms, bok choi, just a ton of stuff you don't usually see at the US chain supermarkets. And it's CHEAP. Then their "food court" off to one side is NOT a "mall food court." What I tasted anyway was restaurant delicious. They cook to order -- it's not the usual steam plates of thawed, pre-cooked frozen food you'd get in a mall. It's a little weird though, because there are five or seven different kiosks with different menus, and you have to note the letter-number next to what you want, then go to yet another kiosk to place your order and pay. They then give you an order number, and whichever kiosk makes your order will call on the PA when it's ready, and flash your number on the monitor in their kiosk. That's not how we "do things in America," but maybe it's because it's how they do it in eastern Asia. It makes it an authentic experience. The several times I was there, there were a lot of native east-Asian immigrants there with their families, enjoying their food with chopsticks, so I'm guessing they find it authentic too. read more

Normally I would give H-Mart food court a good rating but I'm really disappointed with my last visit. My wife purchased wings from there wing shop only to be disappointed. The wings were more like breaded fried bones! This is very disappointing as we were given actual wings in the past. Fix this. I highly doubt I return. read more

The reason as to why I gave H Mart one star is because I have gone two different nights at 9:25 to pick up items from there and the doors were locked. The sign on the door says that they close at 10:00pm, google says that they close at 10:00pm, yelp says that close at 10:00pm. My thing is, if you're going to be closing early each night, at least update all your signs, and websites. Much appreciated, in the meantime I'll be going to other places. read more

If you are a Koreaboo (like myself), then you will LOVE this store! They offer delicious Korean and Chinese cuisine, a yummy cafe, and a Korean Beauty and Skincare shop, along with the giant grocery area that carries tons of delicious Korean ramen and snacks. I always visit the home section every time I come there to see if there is anything new. My boyfriend and I come here once a week to stock up on yummy snacks and occasionally pick up health care items as well! The staff there are very nice and helpful.
