We stopped by Lantern Sushi close to closing time, and the staff was still incredibly kind and quick to help us. My husband and I definitely over-ordered, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, but they handled it graciously and we only ended up paying about $6 extra for the leftovers. Four Hispanic (!) sushi chefs pumped out an amazing variety and volume of sushi - mostly rolls, but sashimi is available for an additional price. The sushi looked better than it tasted; the rice was woefully underseasoned, the nori was a long way from bite-through, and the fish was underwhelming. Spicy tuna was finely minced, without any texture. The end pieces of the Spider roll were the only ones tasting anything like fried soft shell crab. Today, my son and I decided to eat at Panda Sushi for our monthly lunch date. We were greeted and seated right away - maybe because it was after the lunch crowd left. Plenty of room and table were clean. Our server came and took our orders quickly. She is very friendly. We didn't wait very long to start getting our appetizer and they were piping hot. We started with tea, miso soup, shrimp shumai, and crab rangoon. All were tasty but my favorite was the shrimp shumai. Order at least three times. Then we ordered the following sushi rolls: salmon, yellow fin, volcano, dragon, and shrimp tempura. It was very good. My son finished with strawberry ice cream. The place is huge. Lots of tables, and open. The price you can't beat, the menu is good and big. Plates are small but rolls come by 8. We ordered a lot but most of the rolls were not thick slices of actual fish. A lot of the mushy spicy tuna, ect. Soup came out within seconds, just wish it had more tofu in it, just all broth. Overall it was good, would probably come back just based off the price. The yum yum sauce was darker than normal and had like a honey mustard flavor to it. I'm so happy that Frederick has a wonderful all you can eat sushi please right in the Golden Mile. It's all you can eat that includes appetizers, salads, sushi, hibachi and time and noodle dishes. You can get dessert too. It's included. Drinks are not included, but they are only 2.50 each and no alcohol. It's clean and not a buffet. They actually bring you whatever you order. It's fresh and it's great. It's not romantic. It is more like a diner experience, but with Asian food. 15.99 lunch M-F or 23.99 all other times and dinner. Tried out Panda Sushi shortly after they opened and was pleasantly surprised! For the price point, the food was solid--quick to come out and really tasty. Service was a little on the slower side when it came to staff checking back in, but it's clear they're still finding their rhythm as a new spot. I finally got to try this restaurant and I was not disappointed. Everything was so fresh and made to order. They have a pretty extensive menu so there should be something for everybody. The only thing I didn't particularly care for is that they bring you the food and, if they get busy, it can take some time for the wait staff to make it back to your table to take your order. Exactly what to expect for an all you can eat sushi restaurant. We went on the weekend and should have known better. Saturday & Sunday dinner is served all day, however it is not advertised as dinner price, when we got the bill we were a little confused. We ordered many rolls of sushi, heavy on the rice and mediocre fish quality. We also ordered the steak hibachi, which had minimal flavoring and a lot of oil. Plates and silver had water stains on them and what looked to be small pieces of food left over. We went early for lunch, they open at 12pm we were there at 12:15pm, it wasn't too crowded but starting to fill up when we left around 1:30pm. The restaurant is freshly renovated, clean, and spacious. Panda Sushi scores the highest points for excellent, friendly service. Appetizers were tasty and plentiful. They offer a substantial variety of very fresh, well seasoned sushi rolls. Sashimi may be ordered for $.50 additional per piece. Hibachi is where they fall short. The meat used for steak and chicken hibachi is tough. The first order came out with only large pieces of sautéed zucchini for vegetables and the fried rice was a complete failure. My children took me to Panda Sushi for my birthday. The dining area is outfitted with booth style seating as well as regular tables. The area is bright with on trend wicker lamp chandeliers. On the tables are napkins, chopsticks, and soy sauce. Ginger and wasabi is available upon request. Parties of 6 or more will be charged gratuity. You can get the typical appetizers( miso soup, spring rolls, avocado salad, seaweed salad, etc). The four stars are for the sushi. All of the sushi that I had was delicious! I wasn't a huge fan of the hibachi but others liked it. I think the teapot being brought to the table added charm but then only one cup was provided. The place was moderately busy so we had to wait for our server but things went smoothly after that. Like another person noted, the place is noisy. It isn't the place for a romantic date. It is a place for sushi lovers to get in, enjoy their food, and leave. Turnover happens pretty quickly as plenty people were clearing plates off of our table. Great Sushi. Great Value. Sashimi tuna was dark red; good grade. Our server was new, and made some glowing errors, but that can get better with time. Ambiance was irritating. No carpeting, no acoustic treatments on ceiling or wall. Very noisy at just 70% of capacity. Hard to speak with your dining companions on the other side of the table without raising your voice.
