They were able to find, diagnose (water pump cracked), and fix my issue within a day and for less than what Google said it should. Beware, they will offer you a warranty that they don't honor. When u bring your car in they take forever to fix it and when the repair falls short they find something else wrong with the car to charge u more money instead of covering it under the fake warranty. We had a very good experience at Kwik Kar Plano on Independence. We were looking for a quick oil change while doing errands with a baby. We first went to Jiffy Lube, but they were persistent in selling us synthetic oil for our 2010 Honda Odyssey (so the oil change would be $60-75). We have never paid more than $40 for an oil change, so we left jiffy lube and came to kwik kar. The technician who greeted us was friendly, professional, and very helpful. He verified by looking at the engine that our van fid not need synthetic, and that it would be $39 for the oil change. His knowledge and helpfulness helped us know he was reliable, unlike the jiffy lube tech who was all "which synthetic oil do you want?" without even looking under the hood. So we got the oil changed, which started as soon as we pulled into the service area. They addressed the usual engine flush recommendation, but we simply said no thank you, just an oil change- we have the baby with us. I did not use their restroom, so i cannot attest to the condition of that. We also waited in our car, so i cannot attest to the condition of the waiting room. read more

I needed my breaks changed and turns out they do all sorts of stuff so I got a deal and had them change my breaks as well.I don't know if the deal was great or not but better then the dealer's deals for sure. Not too long after I had some issues with my gears not shifting and since these guys were nearby I just brought my car over here. It took two trips, first to change the battery and then to replace a sensor but it did the trick. Generally speaking they are a pretty good crew. The communication was good both ways and they were accommodating as far as calling the next day and bringing the car back on short notice. 3.5 stars, rounded up. read more

I HATE going somewhere that they treat women like morons. I came in for an oil change and an inspection. I told them the oil type I wanted, that I was just a few quarts low, not completely due for an oil change but since I needed the inspection I might as well just get it done. The guy came back and told me I was low on oil and my car was just burning what was left. He said I needed synthetic oil and a treatment to fix the problem. I told him that was incorrect because I checked it and I had at a minimum, 2 quarts left. Also, synthetic oil won't "fix" anything. It's a type of oil, and it's one my car doesn't require. I wasn't "burning" anything. My car may have been "using" oil but it wasn't burning anything. He then tried to tell me I may have an oil leak. I told him I didn't. He said he was going to check anyway. Guess what....no oil leak. When everything was done I was handed my keys and told my paperwork was in the car. I got in my car and the only paperwork was the receipt for oil change. No proof of inspection. I had to go back in and get my insurance card and proof of inspection. I don't appreciate being told I need something to "fix" a problem that doesn't exist. That's an attempt to take advantage of a customer. I would recommend going elsewhere for an oil change. While they are quick, they will try to up-sell you or tell you things are wrong with your car that aren't. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I found a groupon at for front and rear brake pad replacement at this kwik kar location. I called to make sure they had the parts for my car before I brought the groupon and the guy said don't buy the groupon, we'll match the price and we do have the parts available. I went and waited an hour to get service and an hour for the service. My total with the match price plus tax was $190... it's been less than 30 days and my brakes have been squeaking and sounds like grinding. I called them and said "I got my breaks done two weeks ago and now they are worse than when brought my car into you guys." The guy immediately responded by saying, "if you brought a groupon there is no warranty so we can't help you." He didn't ask for ny name or anything... I told him that I never brought the groupon, but they did match the price. He said that's the same thing. I got off the phone with him and went to another mechanic shop for them to check my brakes an low and behold, I was told my front and back brakes needs to be changed immediately and I need my back rotors changed now. I've been taking my 04 honda accord coupe here for maintenance and any problems I have had with my car. Everyone who works here is an absolute professional. It doesn't matter who is taking care of you here. Very friendly environment, any work they do they always make it a point to bring me over to my car and show me and explain to me exactly what's going on so I'm not confused or so I can understand in the future if it happens again. Prices are great as well! They understand if you don't have money right now and they help you create a schedule for later when you do! They tried to convince me that I need another 15 things changed or fixed in my car while I brought the car only for an oil change. They had me smell the power steering fluid and claimed it's going bad and they need to change it. I was saying fluid is not some thing you change on a routine basis. So I declined. Then without my permission they removed the cabin air filter and the engine air filter and claimed they were about two needs to be replaced. I also declined. Aside from this dishonesty the actual oil change was rather fast. I would not go back there. read more

Buyer beware! Deceptive business practices. Not trustworthy. Get a second opinion for any major "suggested" work that needs to be done. Story details: Was steered to this Kwik Kar location from another Kwik Kar where I usually get some work done. My AC had gradually been losing its cooling power, and the original Kwik Kar's AC Diagnostic Machine was not working - so I called this location and they said they would take a look. No waiting! 1. When I arrived, (5 minutes later) it was not busy so I was able to pull right in and thought they would be able to get to it quickly. Nope. Other cars started coming in and were serviced before mine. After 45 minutes, still nothing had been done. I went it to ask what was the big delay and they finally popped the hood. Should have left right then . . . 2. After a short amount of time, the mechanic called me over to say that they could find NO leaks, had filled it up (without asking) with Freon, and the AC was STILL blowing hot - so it was PROBABLY the compressor. He said they could order one and replace it the next day for $700-$800 dollars. 3. He also mentioned that my rear brake pads WERE ALMOST GONE AND BADLY needed to be replaced, but they would be happy to replace them for me. FRAUD RADAR WENT OFF IN MY HEAD! I did not tell him that I had just had my Honda Pilot in a few days early for other work at a local dealership and in their report, it stated the rear brakes were good and did not need to be replaced at this time. 4. I declined their services and left as quickly as I could. 5. Fast forward to today, 12/21/2021. Took my Honda Pilot in to the dealer to have the Brake, Power Steering and Transmission fluids as per maintenance schedule and to check the AC, expecting to pay a hefty bill for a new compressor as mentioned in #2 paragraph. 6. NO NEW COMPRESSOR WAS NEEDED! The dealer found a small leak in one of the AC hoses! They will recharge the Freon and replace the hose. REMEMBER - in #2 the AC was blowing hot and this Kwik Kar had supposedly put NEW Freon in the system. If they had, it would have blown cold - at least for the time it was there! 7. So, it looks like I was charged and paid for an AC diagnostic test that was not done and Freon that was never put into the AC system - AND was going to be charged for rear break pads that I did not need. My usual Kwik Kar crew has always given good service, saved me money on things that did not need to be done, etc. I cannot recommend this business as being trustworthy. Buyer beware!!!!!! read more

Fr manager to assistant manager ignored my wanting to find me the remaining tires for me, literally had to make calls over and over and they never returned my calls. These folks just done care and when I went to the shop few months back, manager who promised to take my tires back, sends assistant manager to tell me not to come back. What I cogslnr understand is after leaving my number and tires that I precisely bought from them- they wrote that down over and over (probably on a sheet a paper and kept losing it) wow ! They never took the responsibility to correct the issue and were extremely rude. Business operation is quite challenging here folks. Well ... typically I do not like doing something like this... truly...The last three experiences at this location 6916 Independence, Plano have been an extremely discouraging display of consistent disappointments. A month ago... December... my wife bought my vehicle a Dodge Avenger to them concerning a leakage of coolant. Considering; I could not make the time to fix this myself as well as me... desiring to "trust" her mechanic...I took it to them. Normally, I have not had an issue concerning their oil change. I am learning that a person, who changes oil, does not make 'them' any more of a mechanic as much as a person holding a pistol making them a soldier in the United States Armed Forces. I found this out the hard way. We paid over $ 600 for that, plus a supposed 'tune up' which they did not use synthetic oil when topping my oil, as well as, ...WOW... the leak is STILL THERE!!! I took it back, only to have Cal ( one of the mechanics...I cannot remember the name fully) state, " we repaired one leak but there is another leak". I stated, " I was not paying this company to tell me the problem. I am paying them to 'fix it'. Cost is not the issue." Meaning if it cost more I will pay for it. So I am thinking that $600 of an investment would lead to $600 of repairs. If they charge more next time ...fine ...lets fix it. Anyways, It is a leak in the hose which I can fix. It is on the top of the car leading to the engine. Well.... they could have spotted that in the beginning if they were paying attention to the car as well as our request. The 'tune up' turned out leaving the car dragging and making sounds readily down the highway due to regular oil and not synthetic...I thought to myself, 'it is ok Ted. Mechanics 'up sale' (scam) sometimes to continue 'business'. "Hey...you need to fix this..." when it turns out that is not the reason you came to them. I get it! I understand. My wife was cool with them and SO AM I!!!!! WOW!!!! Now, this happened. 1/24/2023. My wife had a little trouble with the brake light. We took it to Kwik Kar 6916 Independence. They said that they had 'fixed it'. Several hours later, while at work, we find out that it has NOT been fixed. I left my job, in the snow while my wife called the owner and her boss. Turns out, her boss can YouTube simple solutions to solve complex problems. He temporarily fixed it so the brake lights would not burn out the battery. He 'fixed it' ....WITH A PEN from my office. We took it to the mechanic this morning and I could hear my wife practically arguing with the worker that it was not fixed. He rudely overspoke her (hence the reason for arguing) claiming it was the switch or electrical when she said repeatedly yesterday ...AND today the "pedal would not go down or the gears would not switch". "The guy who does this work will be here at twelve. Come back at twelve." Now.... my wife works over night and she needs her sleep and I was coming from work. Overhearing this...made me at a place of leaving work to ...'ensure that the mechanic WILL DO HIS JOB...:-) ... She came to their defense before to keep me from going there, complaining, or speaking with a district manager ( who has yet to contact me). But now... she was upset. She is bent on not coming back there for automotive services. We are not irrational or highly emotional people ...easily angered. However, I was frustrated to hear him talk to my wife like this and her response to me was after he went away, ' did you hear what he said'? Agai, as a Pasotr and Program Coordinator in a prison ministry, I deal with men in a peaceful manner. I believe in solutions with out emotional displays. I have other options so I will have to utilize them. I wish that I did not have to... for the sake of my wife's convenience. But money talks and he did wrongly towards my wife's business and trust. We pay for the problem to get fixed ... not for the mechanic to tell me there is a problem and not fix it. It is 'up selling', scamming, deceitful and frankly instead of getting upset, I will just inform the owner....if this is read....show the picture...LORD willing it will be posted. I did not like the last three transactions and it appears that this is going to continue down this way so...bad review... not coming here. I can find an oil change and mechanic down the street from my office, church or my warehouse which I also work at. Thank You for allowing me to vent. I would give 3.5 stars, but I don't know how to do a half star. I went to Kwik Kar to get an oil change. I had a groupon. I let them know that I just wanted the oil changed. They got me in pretty quickly. After they were finished I checked to make sure they put oil in it (you always need to check... humans make mistakes), and I took my car home. The oil leaked. I called and they told me to bring it back. They needed to change the gasket. Usef helped me right away and was very kind. He showed me how they refilled my oil because he saw me checking it the day before. My only wish is the techs would remember to change the gasket every single time. Also a side note, during this coronavirus pandemic, nobody working there wore masks. I wore my own because when they talked to me, they were very close (not 6 ft). read more

Finally I found a trusted place. Not only for maintenance but also fixing complex issues with the car. Mou and Mahmoud took care of me very well. I had a complex diagnosis and fix. Mahmoud took care of me and after the first analysis that took more than an hour he couldn't find the issue and didn't want to charge me anything. But he didn't give up and he did another diagnosis and based on that I bought specific OEM part. Although he thought it will take 2 hour to install it he did it in one hour and charged only for that hour. What a great experience, great communication and feeling that they really someone behind that knowledgeable and decent. BTW, same fix was around x2 more expensive in the dealership and at least 1.5 more than other shops and offers I got. Thanks a lot Mahmoud and Mou! read more

Came into town to visit family for the weekend and dropped my car off by for a quick oil change for my 2005 Toyota Corolla. I got a call a few hours later claiming that one of my engine mounts needed to be replaced and it would only be about $60. I went to pick up my car a few hours later and they surprised me with a $500 charge instead. Not only was I more than irritated about the extra charge, when I drove my car away, my car was vibrating so badly, I couldn't grip my steering wheel. Coincidentally, they promised that changing another mount would fix the problem. $1000 later, I had 2 new engine mounts and the new found knowledge that engine mounts usually last the lifetime of your car unless your engine has an above average amount of torque exerted on it (off-roading or chargers). I went there for an inspection and an oil change. I normally take this vehicle to the dealer for oil changes, but I decided to go ahead and get the oil changed here since I was there for the inspection. I know cars and I'm also leery of being scammed, so I thought I would be okay if I stayed out there and watched them do the oil change rather than sitting in the waiting room. But the guys out there kept me distracted chatting and kept me distracted talking to them. One of them kept trying to up-sell me on getting an engine flush, which is totally unnecessary and the first red-flag. Once I broke-off and walked around to look underneath the truck to check and see that the oil was being drained the guy down there in the pit said he was already done draining it. I'm not a hundred percent certain that he didn't, but it just seemed like they're wasn't really enough time for him to have drained it fully and put the plug back in. The guy up top began adding the new oil using the automatic metered pump hose and I was trying to watch while he did that, but he was holding it to where I couldn't really see the gauge to see how much oil was flowing. And what made me suspicious thinking about it after the fact is that the nozzle was making a strange hollow bubbling noise like it was bubbling air rapidly instead of flowing thick oil. After I got home I started thinking about the whole experience I just have a general uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach that I was scammed. It just didn't seem like there was enough time for them to have drained the oil. That, together with the strange noise that the filler hose made and the way they seemed to be trying to keep me distracted all adds together. I think that they didn't do anything except reset the computer on the car so that the change oil message went away. My gut feeling is that they never really even drained the oil, and the filler hose was bubbling because there was nothing flowing through it but air. At this point there's no way to know whether I got an oil change or whether they just faked the whole thing. At least I watched them put a new oil filter on. What I do know 100% though is that I am never having one of these places change my oil again. They're very friendly and nice though, so for someone who just goes in and sits in the waiting room oblivious to anything happening I'm sure the place seems great. Stopped in for an inspection sticker and oil change, about 20 min before they close for the day. The manager comes running out 10 min after I pull in to tell me that my drain plug is so loose he doesn't want to touch it since he doesn't think it will go back on. Course he did so with such a "vibe" that I couldn't really believe him and when I prodded that his technician may have caused it, he grabbed the previous sticker off the windshield to blame that place (another Kwik Kar across town). So I stopped the oil change there. Still had them do the state inspection, which was ok. But I'm not sure if I can trust these guys enough to suggest you try them, and that's why the 2 stars. My car was being worked on by the mechanics at Kwik Kar shop on 6916 Independence Pkwy Plano, TX 75023. While Driving my car home, the wiring hardness started on fire underneath the Dash and suffered a third degree burns on my hard while putting the fire out. The Fire Department was called to insure the fire was out. They replaced engine mounts and removed my exhaust system and rigger it with wire Hanger (see picture). The Car was towed back to the shop and the owner and shop manager assured me that they would fix the car correctly to make it right. After picking the car up for the second time, notice that the exhaust pipe was hanging too low to the ground, rigged with wire, and back firing. The Car died a block away from the shop and notice the battery cables were not secured. I return to the shop the following day to inform Kwik Kar shop that that the car was not running right. The Manager on Duty (Owners Brother) refused to fix the car and told to leave the shop. * This shop has told me that I needed a new engine and I bought a new engine. After investigating the root cause, the started was locking up because it needed a washer. * They told me that a task would take 2 hours where it took only 30 minutes. * The mechanics at this shop have told me that I need a new Transmission when the transmission was fine. * These shop charge me to put on Rear engine seal and when I picked it up. The original part was in the trunk. I had to return the vehicle and they told me they replace it. This shop practice unethically business practices and they will scam and lie to your face. Do not bring your business to this shop!!! read more

They are full service now, offer loaner cars for substantial work and...unlike my dealer shop...don't seem to find or invent work (or ways to charge me for things I don't need). The price on the work I had done wasn't a grand savings vs the dealer but unlike the dealer I was sure this was stuff I needed to have done. The work took a couple days longer than expected..but they couldn't have been more friendly and informative about my repair. read more
