Took both of my vehicles for a routine oil change...on my first car has been leaking oil for the past week, have had to go back to have it looked at to fix the leak. Second car, technician never replaced the oil cap and on my drive home, it spilled oil all over my engine. Had to return same day to have it checked and and refill lost oil. This oversight could have caused major damage if I had to drive for an extended period of time...thankfully I live down the street. How can something so simple become such a problem. The lack of attention on a basic service is horrendous. I wanted to keep my business local...but they has lost my business. Very disappointed! read more

I took my car here a couple months ago because my AC started blowing cool, not cold in the middle of summer. The manager Terry told me that my compressor was going out and it would cost me around $1200. I paid it and dropped my car off for a day (Ubered home and back to get my car) after I picked my car up, my visor was broke and now my AC was intermittently blowing warm air which was worse than before dropping it off. I called and went back and fourth with the manager, he offered for me to bring it back in which I did and paid another couple Uber fees plus spent another day without a vehicle. Apparently they then replaced a whole bunch of other parts "on the house". I pick up my car and now it's blowing HOT air intermittently. I am now getting pissed because this is a giant hassle I'm dealing with. Terry kept insisting my AC WAS FINE EVEN JNOW IT WAS LITERALLY like the heater was on when the AC was supposed to be on. Finally, after spending weeks in a heat death trap of a car trying to line up the master mechanic working, me being off work and the car doing its heat trap, Terry offered me $150 to get a rental car and to drop the car off for a few days and assured he would do whatever it took to get it fixed. My rental car cost me $240 and $60 in Uber fees. I go pick my car up 3 days later and AC is still not working. I'm now pissed and want my money back and my old AC since it worked better prior to my car coming here. He said all sales are final and I could just continue playing this "drop off car and them not fix it" game but won't refund my money so I can go somewhere actually capable of fixing an AC. Total scam and unprofessional manager. Rude and clearly shady business DO NOT RECOMMEND UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SCAMMED and have the manager gaslight you. read more

All of the employees were very kind, however; I made an appointment ahead of time because I was pressed for time and was treated like a walk-in. When I got there at my scheduled appointment time I was told the wait would be 30-45 minutes and asked if that was okay. I said yes, that's fine. My inspection was not finished for an hour and a half! I only had an hour to spare, so it pretty much messed up the rest of my day. Great staff, but unless you have time to spare, I wouldn't use them. read more

OK, so I've done a lot of my own automotive work and know what working on vehicles is like. My complaint about this establishment, however, is about the RIP OFF attempt by the ?manager?, a guy with rings in his earlobes. When I walked in, there was no one at the counter and the guy with the ear rings was in the bathroom. When he came out he asked if he could help me, and I asked for a simple oil change with synthetic oil. I've owned this truck for 20 years and have had many places perform oil changes on her. They were about to take my keys when I happened to ask (which they should have offered up front, and even had me SIGN FOR in advance), "So how much is an oil change with synthetic?". His response was $69.95 with tax about $74. That's more than I have ever paid for most oil changes (I usually use my regular mechanic but he doesn't keep later hours any longer), but I traveled a long way to this place because they were open until 7pm when most places like this close at 6, and I really needed it done, so I said fine, lets do it. So, we move forward with the oil change, took about 15 minutes. When they were done, a different guy called me up to the counter and told me it would be $98 for my oil change.. I'm like, WHOA, that's not right, I didn't ask for nor receive any additional services. So, the ear ring guy, who is helping another customer tells me, "Well, your vehicle took 6.5 quarts of oil and that's 1.5 quarts OVER the "normal" 5 quarts" (that he thinks he quoted me for). I'm like, well, that was not discussed with me prior and I have no intention of taking the hit for your incompetence and mis-quoting me. I'm sure they get away with this crap with many people, but not from me on this night. Tried to tell me the oil was $11.50 A QUART..right... So, when I tell him, you quoted me $69.95 he tells me, "Well I'm 42 years old and I've NEVER been to an oil change place that offers more than 5 quarts of oil for the quoted price" and "This is the way it is ALL ACROSS America, check it out!" I asked, is it because this truck has a really large oil pan, or what? He says, "Hey buddy, I didn't MAKE the vehicle so I have no idea why it's like that". Hmmm.... So he tells the guy checking me out to give me the coupon rate, but I ended up paying $78 for the oil change, $4 more than I was initially quoted. But at least I wasn't ripped off for the extra $20, the way they intended. I recalled that they had to GOOGLE (should know this by their computer systems, before intaking a vehicle and BEFORE they quote you a price) how many qts. of oil my truck takes, because I heard the ear ring guy yelling into the bays how much oil my truck should take. The very first review I read online tonight about the incompetence/thievery of this place summed up my experiences best with this establishment, but what worries me (sorry ladies!) about this situation is that there were several women getting services done and WHO KNOWS how much guys like this rip these women off, on a daily basis. I've heard horror stories about places like this from other people, but have never been personally assaulted financially by one of them until tonight. Find an honest shop and do business with them, this is my recommendation. read more

I took two cars in there in the past week for inspections. Both cars drove into the bay where they work and first thing we are told is the car wouldn't pass inspection. Therefore, they did not complete the full inspection. I then proceeded to take my cars, a few days later, to another place to get inspected and they both passed with no issues. I have been using this location for over two years and have been very pleased with the entire experience. Brian, the manager, is one of the most honest individuals I've come across in the automotive industry. I worked at a similar business for several years, and up-selling was our bread-and-butter. My experience at that job has always made me overly cautious using shops on my own vehicles. In my experience, Brian has always been accommodating and is never pushy with any of the services. I do most of my own work, but still give them a call if something is beyond my capabilities or on a time crunch. Regardless, they have never tried to up-sell anything and are always honest in their evaluations and recommendations. This has led to several thousand dollars of work for them and no headaches for me. On the rare occasion that my needs has exceeded their ability (transmission rebuild) Brian was able to recommend another shop, contact them for me the next day, and keep me in the loop. I doubt I'd find another shop that would ever be as helpful. I'd highly recommend them to anyone who might be looking for a reputable shop and will continue to use them as long as I am in the Austin metroplex. read more

I took my truck to Kwik Kar to have my oil changed. Having recently moved to Cedar Park I thought I would give this place a try. While at the shop everything was fine and the staff was friendly. However days after getting my oil changed I began to notice small puddles in my drive way. I didn't immediately return to Kwik Kar because I wasn't really sure if it was something they did, I didn't have the time and the leak was small. Months later I finally crawled under my truck to see where the leak was coming from. The bottom of the oil pan on the engine was wet with oil and the oil plug had a drop of oil hanging down. I then called Kwik Kar and spoke with an employee named William and explained my situation. He said bring the truck and they would check it out. He made it sound as if it should be no problem to either replace the gasket on the plug or rethread the oil pan if they messed up the treading or gasket. I took my truck in and the technicians concluded that my rear main seal was leaking (gasket between engine and transmission). They offered to fix it for 4-5 hours labor at $80-90 an hour, plus the part. They also mentioned that out of the 6 quarts my truck holds I still had 5.25 remaining. Meaning the leak wasn't that bad. After returning home I investigated the gasket between the engine and transmission and could find no oil leaking. My oil pan was only wet on the very bottom near the plug and was dry on all 4 sides of the pan. In addition, if the oil was leaking near the transmission it would be nearly impossible for the oil to defy gravity and travel the route to the bottom of the oil pan. I have monitored my truck for two days now and the oil leak has almost completely stopped because while the truck was at Kwik they removed the plug and retightened it. They also may have replaced the plug gasket, but I am not sure since they did not admit any wrong doing. In conclusion I would advise you do not take your car here. Everything seems on the up and up, but I suppose some places get used to advising their customers fix problems that don't exist. read more

I've been going to various Kwik Kar's for years now, but this one is by far the shadiest. Here are the three strikes that lead me to never go back and leave this review. 1. Watch out for the upsell. It's ridiculous how hard they try to upsell you. Every single time I go in there, I get the exact same pitch, from the exact same guy. "Mind if I show you something.. Some food for thought, mind you." One time when trying to tell me I needed a new air filter, the guy literally put a leaf on top of it to really drive home the point that I needed to change my filter. I get it, though. They make money on the upsell's, so of course they are going to push it on me. While annoying, I can deal with this. 2. Recommend unnecessary repairs. I went to get my inspection done. They told me it failed due to a leak in one of the hoses. They gave me a quote on how much it would cost to fix, and I told them I would think about it. Went to my mechanic neighbor and he said there was no leak, or anything he could "visually see" that would cause it to fail inspection. So, I took it to another place and it passed inspection with no issues. This really rubbed me the wrong way. It felt like they were trying to scam me into services I didn't necessarily need. 3. They screwed my oil pan nut in too tight and de-threaded the pan. This was the final straw for me. And it nearly cost me my car. Went to take my wife's car for oil change. In the days immediately following, I see oil stains on my driveway. Asked my same mechanic neighbor to take a look at it and he said that the oil pan but was screwed in too tight, and that it dethreaded the pan. I would likely have to replace the whole oil pan. Was driving it to his shop for repairs the next day, and the nut fell out while I was driving and oil started pouring out of my car while I was on the highway. Pulled over quickly, turned off the engine and watched the oil drain out. (Photo attached) had to then get it towed to the shop. If I continued to drive the car for another couple of minutes, it would've locked up my engine due to lack of oil. The Good Things This place ain't all bad, however. They do offer free Wi-Fi in the lobby and sometimes water bottles in their beverage fridge. I've been there probably seven or eight times, and had two major instances where I felt burned. Other times, the service was fine. I always got a free car wash coupon. If you do go there. Be careful for the things listed above. read more

Some of the reviews have helped me see that there is a Quality Control issue and that my tire being put on improperly , causing air stem to be covered , was not a one off issue, will only take my junker car here, won't take the nicer family sedan. I used this location for over a year of oil changes. Every other time, I had them grease the joints of my front end (5 on each side) of my truck. The manager was always helpful and allowed me to top off my fluids for free, like most locations. Two weeks ago, the owner waited on me as I again asked to top off my fluids and check the grease in the front end, mentioning I was hearing a noise. He later presented me with a $12 bill to top off fluids and check the fittings, then presented an estimation to replace my ball joints, tie rods, shocks and struts, telling me he won't charge me to $12 this time. The total was for $2000 which is an outrageous price. He went on to say the brakes are okay, and to tell me a story about another expensive repair he performed because the person did not take care of his vehicle, suggesting I have not been taking care of mine. How am I not take care of it when I bring it to them monthly for service? Doesn't that mean they're not taking care of it? I took my truck to my friend, a GMAC master mechanic. After inspecting the front end, he said I needed front hubs only which I bought for $93 and replaced myself considering how easy it is. I would have spent $2000 replacing part unnecessarily when hubs were not even on his list of repairs. When the estimate was presented to me, he mentioned that he was the finance manager for a car dealership for 15 years prior to this. I should have known by that, honesty is an issue. read more

I took my car here this afternoon on a whim because it was convenient. I was pleasantly surprised. I went in for a quick oil change & they promptly pulled my car in & started checking it out. The mechanic had me out to look at the things they simply recommended & he even prioritized the list & told me what could wait a little while. He complimented me on the way I had maintained my vehicle as well. After thinking it over & price comparing, I asked him to go ahead & do the services he recommended as highest priority and am glad I did. He never once made me feel pressured and simply stated facts. He also showed my the colors of my fluid versus what they recommend. It gets better, I casually mention that I need a timing belt replaced soon and they said they would price match & possibly even beat it. Also, when I went to check out I casually mentioned I was a teacher & he gave me a teacher discount after verifying with my teacher ID. He also mentioned they give discounts to police, firemen, & military as well. On top of getting a punch on my "buy 6, get the 7th free" card, I got a free carwash (value $6) at the place across the street. I was impressed. This was the best car service experience I've ever had, I typically dread it. I will definitely be back & will make sure those close to me know to go here as well. read more

I had planned on taking my minivan to the 1431/Parmer location, but I had my daughter with me, so I took it here. It's close to Dunkin' Donuts, with is the only reason this place has two stars. They seemed more focused on trying to up-sell. I was offered a full transmission flush, and brake pad check/replacement. Yet, my brake fluid was not topped off, and my tires were not filled (they were a little low at the time). No sticker was slapped up in my windshield either. I did notice a sign on my way out saying they were under new management. It seems that new management is more focused on up-selling preventative maintenance, which explains the craptastic service. They were fast, which is a plus...but if you really think about it, they were only fast because they were cutting corners. Go the the 1431/Parmer location instead. I know I will. read more

I've got to hand it to Kwik Kar, they fix what they say they're going to fix, and they do it with integrity and completion. I brought my 2005 Scion Xa in to have the brakes looked at. There was a definite grinding noise going on, and I've gotta keep this car rolling until we pay off the new car we had to buy when we had kids. So in we go, as Kwik Kar is walking distance from my place of employment. They got the car opened up, and found that the front brakes were fine, but the drum brakes on the rear were going to need some work. I authorized the work, and waited for a callback. Toward the end of the day I got an apologetic call that my car was not ready, for the reason that the 3rd party parts that arrived for my car did not fit precisley. So I was without a car for an evening, but the manager had OEM parts purchased and waived the additional cost. That was what I felt was integrity move 1. Move two came the next day, when they got my car all buttoned up and ready to get back on the road- only to find that the cylinders were evidencing leaks. The manager once again called me "hat in hand" to apologize that the car needed to be further worked on- but this time waived the parts AND the labor of pulling the rear end back apart on what he said he should have caught earlier. Integrity move 2. You hear a lot about mechanics that will find things to push up the price of a repair. These mechanics ate into their own bottom line to make sure the repair was done right, and make up for an item they did not catch on the first estimate. That, to me, is a reason to keep patronizing an establishment. If they're going to be on the level even when it means eating some of the cost, that's the kind of people I want to do business with. While IN the car wash, my engine overheated, warning message came on and the temp gauge spiked. I saw the Krik Kar building across the street and drove there immediately. The guys were very quick to check me in and said the Suburban would need to cool down before they could inspect it further. Later, they called to say there was a plastic connector that broke and needed replacing - requiring a flush of the entire system. They said this was very common and an easy repair. I approved, then picked it up later the next day. A few days later at church, I noticed fluid behind the right front tire. The next morning, back to Kwik Kar.... They checked it out again and found coolant tubes rubbing together. No replacement parts were available from local parts stores or even the dealerships. These were VERY long tubes bent at the factory to connect the front cooling system to the Suburban's rear heater. It took several days for them to locate and order parts on line. Once received, they were not a complete kit as marketed, not Kwik Kar's fault. At that point, the options to fix the leaking lines (that go back to the rear heater) were not cheap. Once they got in to the work, they determined it needed to go to a dealership with the proper tools to finish the coolant tube routing. This took several more days but at least I knew it would be fixed right. To make matters worse, the deadlership "lost" my Suburban because the tow truck hired to deliver it did not check in with the dealership when they dropped it off. At least it was not drivable, but it was left unlocked for several days with personal affects still inside (I did not know it would take this long). Again, not really Kwik Kar's fault. Kwik Kar was very apologetic about the time it took to complete the job. They did give me a discount for the delay and delivered the vehicle to me clean. It has been a few months since the repair as I wanted to make sure it was working properly before my review. Kwik Kar had never seen this particular issue before and did a great job. I would have given FIVE stars had they diagnosed the issue the first time - even with the delays and tow truck issue described above. They were very polite and kept me informed with numerous phone calls. I would use them again if they were closer to my house. Growing up at a family-owned service station as a child through college, I can appreciate their professionalism and mechanical knowhow. read more

This place took us in right away on the same day in less than an hour. We got there and spent maybe less than 10-15m for the whole oil change! It was by far the fastest service I've ever experienced. There was no hassle, no sitting us down talking about each service and there was no up-selling. The guys were very cool and accommodating. The place is clean and waiting room is comfortable and cool. It wasn't a cheap place but I'd pay the price for the not having to wait hours for an oil change especially since I have kids with me all the time. read more

Love these guys. I've been going to this establishment for 3 years, and not once did I feel like I was being disrespected or mishandled. I don't remember his name, but the jacked dude who looks like he could be Jean Claude Van Damme's stunt double always was a chill bro and gave me realistic expectations about the job on my vehicle. He's sharp as a tack, and answers all my questions about the work being done without a problem. They aren't perfect, but having similar experience in this kind of work myself, I can try and understand mistakes. Though, working with the staff at Kwik Kar I can't ever recall having a bad experience. Like all mechanics, it's best to arrive bright and early for the best and quickest experience. Love the lobby atmosphere, and always find the "Framed TV" pretty amusing. Who frames a TV? The bathroom is always pretty clean for the most part, and the availability of free coffee and water is a plus for me since I live so close and I can hang and wait for the work to be done. They have very poor customer service. I took my van into to be diagnosed as it was running differently. I sat up there and watched them look at it for a few minutes, then they pulled it around and parked it in a different bay. There were NO other customers except me. They all then proceeded to have a meeting in the office behind closed doors while the others took a smoke break by the dumpsters. The meeting seemed to move upstairs to the supply room and still NO communication from anyone while I sat there in the waiting room puzzled as to why no one was working on my car. Finally, I offered that if no one was willing to look at my car that I would take it elsewhere. At that point, he went up to talk to the 'master tech' and then offered me a car to drive. I asked him how long and he said they needed a hour because they were going to run some more tests on it. I took the car they offered me and when I got home I noticed that the gas tank was below the empty line. I was so glad I only lived across the street. Over an hour went by and I did not receive a call from anyone, so I called them. They told me that Kory was gone and they would have him call me back. He called me just a few minutes later. He informed me that he drove my van around for 30 minutes and was able to see all the problems I described, but could not find anything wrong with it. Now, my argument is that I do not believe he drove my van for 30 minutes because my odometer nor my gas gauge reflected his statement. He then had someone else call me back a few minutes later to tell me that I could keep my van there a couple of days (yes, days) and I could continue to drive the car they had already given me or I would need to come pick up my van. If I chose to leave the van, then I would need to pay a diagnostic fee. Now, two days later after not driving my car yesterday and being hopeful today after their claims of not being able to find anything wrong I got in my car. It died every few minutes. Delaying my business meeting, I turned around and drove it straight to their shop and they refused to help me even though the symptoms had worsened. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I FEEL THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WOMEN. SAD! read more

To update my previous review: After getting my car back from Kwik Kar and spending $1200 on what should've been an easy repair, I filed a complaint with BBB and was told that I would be refunded the $99 for the damaged radiator. When my battery died a week after getting my Honda back, I noticed that 5 of the 8 pins needed to secure the top cover to the upper radiator core support and front upper grill were missing! Complete negligence! Upon having another, and much more reputable mechanic, look through everything they also noticed that the lower shield was not tucked up under the bumper correctly as well as a loose bolt on the front lower engine mount (by the radiator). Had that gone undetected, I could've had damage to my engine! SERIOUSLY think twice before letting these thieves/sneaky manipulators touch your vehicle. On a positive note, the guy that processed my refund because the store director (who had caused the damage to my radiator, performed the shoddy work and shamelessly lied to cover it all up) wanted to avoid me. So thank you to the helpful mechanic who politely processed my refund. read more

I took my car quickly over to Kwik Kar, and a young man named Benjamin help me out by doing a whole check up on my car for me. He was probably the nicest and most sincere mechanic I had ever met. I went in today for an oil change and a vehicle inspection. They were super quick and polite and made sure to reset the car's computer (which they forgot during my previous oil change). I got home and went online to pay my registration and it said that there was no record of my inspection. Look on my receipt. Sure enough, they hadn't charged me for it! So, I went back a second time, they apologized, it took them about 30 minutes and they kept getting my vehicle confused with another customer's but they gave me the inspection form and waived the fee. Got home, went online to pay for my vehicle registration. It still said I didn't have a valid inspection. Call the registration office and hold for 30 minutes. They tell me to check my VIN on the inspection report. Sure enough, it's wrong. Go BACK for the third freaking time today and they tell me it will take two minutes. 20 minutes later they are done. And they've left my car's insurance tracker plug-in on the floor boards where I have to kneel in the parking lot and reinstall it myself. I explain to the man I'm dealing with that I've been there three times for something that should have taken one trip and he just blinks at me. Doesn't offer any compensation beyond a shrug and an insincere apology. I think maybe the location convenience is no longer using this place regularly like I have been for the past few years. read more

I've taken my car there twice now and both times I felt like they gave me honest recommendations. All of their recommendations were in line with the manufacturer's recommendations. BEWARE!!!! I would never trust these people with another car, even if it broke down right in front of their shop! First visit - Our family's truck needed new brakes, and the cost was about $900. Around a week later, each time the brakes were applied it sounded like metal grinding on metal. Second visit - The truck was taken back, and they made us wait an entire day while they repaired other vehicles, but supposedly they fixed it. A week later you could feel a severe wobble each time the brakes were applied. A friend took a look to see if we could specifically tell them what was wrong, only to discover that this place over torqued the lug nuts making it nearly impossible to even get the tires off. Third visit - We took the truck back to get it "fixed" again. The manager said he would replace the drums "for free" to correct the problem. In exchange, he asked that we take down the bad Yelp review. Here we are just a few weeks later, and the brakes started making grinding sounds and smelling like they were burning yet again. Since we will NOT ever be going back to this place again, we went ahead and bought new brake pads and found someone else to install them. This place had great customer service and was on top of things. I had an issue with my drain plug that another company had messed up and they called me first to see what I wanted to do about the issue instead of assuming or not informing me. I'll always come back if I'm in the area. read more

This place is fabulous. Nice, big, clean shop and a polite crew of honest mechanics. Got my state inspection done is less than 10 minutes, PLUS a free car wash! They take credit cards, checks and cash. Free wifi and a big screen television to watch while I waited. Very nice experience! read more

Kwik Kar costs a little more, and their spelling is atrocious, but they are fast and efficient. Each time I've gotten work done there, they've interrupted my coffee break at the coffee place that's within walking distance--repairs were done well before I expected. Plus they always give you a free car wash card for the place across the way (the one with the tread mill that pulls your car through) and so that's like saving another $15 each time. Beware , beware , beware . They try to fool me as I didn't know anything , I went for the inspection of my car for the registration purpose , and you know what they told me , "ohh your car has major safety issues , the power steering fluid is low it must be leaking and they failed my car and told me to go back the next day so they can check it properly, when I went there the next day they told me that my power steering pump is not working it needs replacement and the told me that it will cost 600$ just for the replacement of pump and labor , for the parts they asked me for $230which is in auto zone for 107$ and if you change the pump and take the old pump to Auto zone the will refund you $40so hardly the pump cost 60 & which the try to Bill me for $230 plus flushing the whole oil which the bill for $146 and extra labor for $180 and then what, they told me ohh your coolant pump is not working need to replace it and the estimated it for $230 , altogether they gave me an estimation for the $825. I went to different auto shop and they told me that everything is working properly only the coolant was leaking which the fixed it for free and passed my car for inspection , so be careful with these people and before going for the major repair with these guys cross check with a different auto shop to avoid Being fooled by these guys read more

I have been going to Kwik Kar for many years and have always gotten a good price and good service. I visited this Kwik Kar location a week ago and I was less than impressed. I was greeted by a man who was nice but lacked customer service. The men that worked on my car could care less to work with me or communicate with me as a customer. I sat in the waiting room for probably 20 minutes with my car finished out front (after being at the location for ~30 mins) before one of the guys said "oh uh are you ready to go" and handed me a receipt. They didn't care to tell me if things were good or anything. Terrible customer service and less than friendly or helpful. I hopped in my car and drove a mile and a half down the road to H-E-B. When I got out of my car I realized my car had been damaged. I immediately drove back to the Kwik Kar to discuss the new damage. I was nice and professional about it. The same front desk employee got the manager and man that worked on my car and explained that they would look at some cameras. There seemed to be scrambling happening. They conveniently left me in the lobby for 20 minutes while they "pulled up the footage". When they finally let me look at the footage the angles were terrible and proved nothing either way. The manger proceeded to be rude and hateful toward me telling me that "it wasn't detective footage" and after asking if I could bring someone back to look at the footage he said that "he would not tolerate me bringing someone in to yell at him". I had given this man no reason to be unkind to me. I told them I would be back before they closed with my dad or boyfriend to look at the footage. When we came back the men were rude, and less than helpful. The manager was in the area where cars are worked on smoking and doing nothing. There was one customer in the lobby. After waiting in the lobby again for 30 minutes to look at footage they asked us to come back in 5 days because the manager didn't have time to help us today. A bunch of dishonest and unfriendly people working here and I would not even suggest it to my enemy. I now have to pay a lot to fix a car I didn't damage. read more
