I needed a state inspection, and in Leander, there are many choices. This time, I decided to try Kwik Kar. Positives: 1. They had no line at all. That was huge, because everywhere else doing inspections on this specific day, had lines or were booked up. 2. I was greeted and treated with kindness the moment I pulled up. It is so nice to see a smiling face who is happy to see you there. I was directed to which bay to go into and they asked me to sit in the guest area while they took care of everything. 3. Everyone was professional and on point to all the customers there. This was also nice. I've had other experiences with other mechanic shops and have seen what it's like when every employee is doing whatever they feel is their default. But here, what was nice, everyone was in sync and all equally as professional and kind. 4. The service was fast. I did not have to wait long, and also everyone in front of me, they were in and out quickly as well. 5. The TV isn't on 24-hour news. I know that may not sound like a plus, but it is for me. This year has been rough, and the comfort in the waiting room was like that of family, not to whip anyone up into a lather while they wait for their car to be fixed. 6. My car was brought to the door and ready to go, when the papers were handed to me, making for a seamless goodbye and exiting. 7. The paperwork for the state to register my car was perfectly done and I was happy with the way it read and was processed to make the registration go smoothly. Negatives: I don't really have one here. Took my EV on a Saturday morning for a state inspection - first time after moving to Leander. The shop looked tidy and there were customers waiting both inside and outside for their cars to be done. It took a little bit of time before I was served to get my car in the queue. The staffs were very courteous and asked if I could work my EV for them (driving into the bay, keeping the windows down, telling them the mileage, etc.) I was out very quickly (I guess it's because it doesn't need emission testing). I went in yesterday to get my oil changed in my truck inspected well I was in the waiting room. One of the guys came up to me had a little plug full of grease and told me it was from my rear differential and it was full of metal shavings and it needed to be serviced, I told the guy no I know mechanic I'll have to take a look at it because the rear differential doesn't have grease it uses lubricant so I knew the guy was trying to scam me anyway when they were finished I paid my bill wasn't really paying attention at my mind on other things Didn't notice that they had charge me for a rear differential service of $139. When I was looking at the bill last night I noticed the charge it was too late to call them that evening so I called them the next morning told them I wasn't paying for the rear Service because it was never performed told him about the guy showing me some grease with metal shavings and pointed out. The rear differential doesn't use grease it uses lubricant that service. He tried to tell me that the service was done blah blah blah, and that he had a video of the guy doing the work, I pointed out. How do you have a video when the guy underneath the rack doing the work so I asked him to show me the video of him changing the lubricant in my rear differential of course he could not come up with the video. He asked me if I wanted a refund, even though he claimed to have done the work, I told him I wanna refund because there was no work performed. Needless to say warning warning warning don't go to this place. They will try and rip you off. How do you start out with an inspection and oil change and end up inspecting the rear differential anyway plus they were trying to tell me several things needed to be serviced. I told him no thanks refund because the guy knows the work wasn't completed and he got caught up in the scam so don't go to this place. they might not try to rip you off the first time, they will try and rip you off read more

Absolutely do not go here. We came here for an inspection and Joseph was the employee who 'helped' us. Aside from being generally rude (right off the bat and for no reason!), he did not wear a mask at all, and proceeded to get into our car and touch everything without a mask on. This is at a time where COVID deaths are at an all time high. We are non-confrontative, and given the current political-climate, we didn't want to risk a shouting match with the man or worse. We figured we would just let him do the inspection and we would sanitize the car afterwards. However, he failed our car stating the rear window tint was out of specifications, which we knew was not true. We're smart enough to know when someone is trying to pull one over on us, and he was trying to do just that. Instead we took our car to the Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers on Whitestone near Walmart and passed without issue. The tech there even said there was no reason our car should have failed for the rear tint. Here, they wore masks and let us stay in the car to test the turn signals, lights, etc. We even got a free car wash! Do not go to this Kwik Kar location. They do not care about your health or safety, and will try to take advantage of you. I have submitted a formal complaint with the DPS as well. read more

I had my oil changed here. About a week later liquid leaked from under my vehicle. I had a friend help me figure out what was leaking. He opened hood and shined a flashlight in there and realized that it was coming from under the oil filter area . No attempt was made to do any repairs. I contacted Kwik lube asking about their warranty . They asked if I had towed the vehicle into a shop. I said no. I drove over to my friends place . He is a mechanic. He helped me find leak. Kwik Kar replied to me saying that I towed my car to a shop and they worked on it voiding warranty. I again told the owner that I did not tow and did not work on vehicle. I found the problem called Kwik Kar. they refused to honor their warranty. They told me I had called their people liars and did not appreciate that. No matter how many times I told the owner that all that was done was find leak with a flashlight. He hung up on me . I called back and again he told me I towed my car to a shop. I did not . In fact I believe he implied that I am a liar. He refused to honor warranty . I have learned not to take any vehicles to this shop. They will not cover damages that they cause to your vehicle. They will void your warranty for shinning a flashlight into engine area to find out where it is leaking. They over tightened oil filter causing damage. The owner is extremely rude and even threatened to have me arrested if I came to his shop. He acted like a child and hung up on me 3 or 4 times while I was trying to tell him over and over again that the vehicle was not at another shop. The vehicle was not towed. The hood was opened a flashlight was shined a leak was found . Apparently that voids your warranty with this guy. I will never take another vehicle there again. I've gone into this business multiple times for a state inspection because they advertise state inspections very prominently on their bill board. Each time going in I'm being told by the same individual ie. manager things that are untrue about the State of Texas laws concerning automobile inspections. I think his dishonesty is due to fact that inspections are not a money maker like auto repairs so he is shewing inspection customers away because it effects his stores bottom line. The old adage of being dishonest in one thing means dishonesty in all things I think applies to this individual not to mention horrible customer service. In response to the "owner's" response: So again, Kwik Kar is calling me a liar. The different colored torque seal probably means who ever performed my last oil change at Kwik Kar at 150,406 miles used the wrong color torque seal. NO ONE has touched my drain plug but Kwik Kar since August of 2016. My last oil change was 4,817 miles ago (less than 5000 miles) and done by Kwik Kar on 09 JULY 2019. You are correct in the fact that I did become irate and began to cuss loudly. I had just found out that the shop I had trusted for years had damaged my truck and then tried to blame someone else and accused me of lying about it. I was (and still am) VERY pissed. Nothing was documented in a work order. I specifically asked for documentation but was told that since there was no charge, Kwik Kar could not provide a receipt and blamed the system. Ask the older gentleman who returned my truck to me. He seemed to be the only one with any clue about customer service. The oil filter WAS NOT REPLACED. See the photo. If it was replaced, it was then very carefully coated with about 7 months of road dirt. I find it very telling that the manager is so sure that it is much more likely that I am attempting some scam rather than a mechanic seven months ago used a different color torque seal. Does Kwik Kar have a patent or some other exclusive torque seal color that no one else has access to? Are any of the mechanics who were there seven months ago still there? According to my receipt "RG" was the pittech. Or maybe it was "JG" in December of 2018. Or maybe "ER" in April of 2018... How long has that manager been there? read more

I went by today to get my state inspection done and this one guy just moseyed on up to my car like he didn't have any motivation in life and stated "uh, we dont do state inspections in the rain. Company policy." Ive never heard anything so idiotic in my life. Its RAIN. if your boys dont know how to drive in the rain, you have bigger problems. Thanks for assuring I wont be coming back to this place again. UPDATE - guess I can't respond to the rebuttal from "Kwik K." So Ill put my response on my updated review: Yeah no. There was no 'heavy rain.' Please don't lie. I showed up about 930 or so this morning while it was *not* raining. A. There were no 'recommendations' from the person I spoke with, B. It wasn't raining, backed up by the fact that the guy who moseyed up to my car wasn't holding an umbrella. He literally walked up, said "we dont do inspections in the rain, company policy." and turned to walk away. I think the only 'best interest' that was being looked after was the dingus who didnt want to do any work that would take about 10 minutes. The bad review stays, and you will not be of any service whatsoever. Check with your lumbering employee. There was no heavy rain, he was just lazy. So....my car breaks down and I pull into KwikKar on a Saturday evening at 7:30PM. It doesn't move as it's smoking and lost all power steering, etc. I don't have the option to take to my own mechanic at that hour or on Sunday so I leave a note on the dash explaining it's broken down and I'll get a tow out there Monday morning. So at 7:20AM in Monday I awaken to a call from KwikKar asking if I'm the owner which I reply yes sleepily because I'd not yet gotten up for the day. Immediately the person at the other end of the Line rattled off some sort of ordinance code that says they will and can tow my car if I don't remove it in the next 30 minutes. So, instead of asking if it's something they can quote because they are in e automotive repair industry they immediately threaten to tow my car if I didn't get it off their Property. With a household of 5 cars they have no interest in gaining new customers or providing any form of customer service. Hmmmm read more

This was my first visit to this Kwik Kar location and had taken my car to Kwik Kar on Wm. Cannon in Austin for many years with only great things to say. Thinking it would be standing room only if I didn't get there super early, I pulled up at 7:45 a.m. and was the only customer there. The Kwik Kar employee or manager greeted me and let me know they didn't open until 8:00 a.m., though started the oil change, tire rotation, etc., anyway. Avoid at all costs! Dangerous incompetance! My wife took her vehicle in to get a state inspection and they told her she needed new front brakes for $289. I knew that was steep, (nearly double getting it done at the dealership) but I knew it needed brakes. Fast forward to today my wife's brakes nearly failed at an intersection, requiring both feet and pulling on the steering wheel to barely stop and was pumping smoke into the cabin of the vehicle. She went to the shop and was told it was normal, and was operating fine. When I came in he became immediately defensive again saying that everything was normal. Obviously not because of billowing smoke and a near complete brake failure. He again tried to claim that everything was normal. We limped the vehicle home and I will be taking it in to the dealership tomorrow to fix their "work" read more
