Easy efficient and affordable auto care. I came here after getting burnt out at the dealership mechanic. It's is a much easier process to deal with for basic maintenance. They rotate your tires for free with every oil change. The employees are friendly and seem honest. They told me my air filters needed to be changed but didn't try to upsell me on that. I got the filters myself and figured out how to change them. Thankfully in my car it is easy to do. Saved me a bunch of money. read more

I first went Qual Tech last year to fix an AC issue. One of their reps ran over the back of my car, and thanks to some detective work on my part, they promptly fixed it. However, I had a noise in the front suspension back in April, and they replaced the entire front suspension system. That did NOT fix the issue, so in October I took it back to them, and they replaced the entire rear suspension system. That did NOT fix the issue, so I took it to another mechanic. They found and fixed the noise. So now I am out over $2800 from Qual Tech, but at least I found and fixed the issue thanks to another mechanic. Wish I had a better report for Qual Tech. read more

DO NOT USE / DROPPED TRUCK OFF LIFT If I could rate QualTech Automotive on 620 less stars I would. I went in for a routine fluid change, and they dropped my truck off their lift. They then proceed to do unauthorized work to my vehicle to cover up their accident. They refused to release my damaged vehicle so that I could take it to a secondary repair shop without payment. Todd, the General Manager, was incapable of understanding why I would be seeking a refund even though they completed the services. I have been without my truck for 24 days and am waiting on a call from upper leadership. read more

I was requested to email Todd with my concerns. I wrote up that the diagnosis I was given was incorrect and I was still charged. I sent this email on December 23rd, 2024. It is now February 2025 and I have not received a response. After reading other reviews as well, I'd like to weigh in on their diagnosis fees. I was charged $170 for them to inform me that my O2 sensor needed replaced. Upon first contact with this company, I informed them that I ran my OBD for error codes and that I wanted an estimate for resolving the code displayed. However, what I received was a $170 bill for them to tell me what I told them. Many better and truthful shops in Austin. Stay clear from these guys. read more

I went on our neighborhood mom group and searched for the most reliable, reputable place to get regular maintenance, a place with knowledgable professionals but won't rip you off. This was important to me as I have a hard time saying no on the spot. I heard other moms saying appointments were hard to get and normally QualTech would have at least a one-week wait but someone canceled so I was lucky to be able to go in much sooner than expected. I went in on the day of appointment, they quickly checked me in, on Google there was a review that said it'd take 3-5 hours depending on how busy they are that day, so I actually brought in my computer and was ready to get some work done. I asked how long it'd take and they said 1.5 hour or less! This was for my regular oil change and state inspection. The end? Wow, didn't even get to order and finish my lunch and they were already done. Also, no surprises when checking out, no hidden fee for labor or parts that I did not consent doing. No surprise is great for my wallet and for my mental health. I was a little unsure if I wanted to share this neighborhood gem but Yelp Elites don't do that right? I am really disappointed with QualTech. Have been taking my vehicles here for sometime and this last time will be the last. As I went it for a check engine light and the person I used to go to (Brandon) is no longer with the company. Todd the manager said I should use Robert because Robert has been there the longest. Well I went in and Robert said that it was the Catalytic converter sensor. The price came out to around $2000+-. I was hesitant and even called a couple other shops. Another one that had a lot of reviews and all 5 stars said they think they could fix it with lubricating them for about $250. I should have listened to them. But because Brandon took care of me for so long I decided to stay with Qual-Tech. (BIG MISTAKE)! So they supposedly fix it and less than 24 hours later my check engine light comes back on. I take it back to Robert and and he calls me to tell me that I need to replace the catalytic converters now. I told him I was not happy that less than 24 hours and pretty much the same thing is going on with it. I asked to speak to Todd the manager. Todd tells me he will do it for the costs of the parts. (around $1500). I had asked to speak to the owner (Bill Leavings) but he refused to speak to me per Todd. He was too busy is what Todd told me. So I decided to call around again and I talk to another mechanic and he said he would do it for $200 if I bought the parts. I looked into the parts and total it came to a little over $1400 parts anc labor. So I thought well Let me check with Qual-Tech one more time. When I called Todd I asked him if he remembered me he said no. I told him the story and he still didn't remember. I asked him to confirm that Bill (the owner) still didn't want to speak to me about this. He said no he is too busy. So I knew his price from before but I wanted to see what it was now. (maybe it would get better and I would probably have went with Qual Tech. But he didn't have any of the information on the computer and asked me to come back up to the shop to run the codes again. I told him that the last time we talked that he and Robert both said that if they run codes they would always have them in the computer. Well they must have been lying! So next time we talk he says that it will now be over $1900 to fix and he is only charging me for parts. Are you serious? You told me less than a month ago that it was $1500 (The price of parts) now you are telling me that parts went up to $1900 but yet I can get them at $1200? Now I know he is lying to me. So I confront him about it and he denies it. says that it is because he is quoting me both sides, etc etc. Well I got both sides, etc etc. Todd if you are reading this Stop lying to customers and be honest with them. Never again will I take my vehicles up to Qual tech ever again! If you think they are lying. They probably are stay away and spend your money with a reputable company that is honest with their clients and not stealing from them. Because that is exactly what they did to me. Once I take my truck in to the new mechanic I will see if they even replaced the sensors like they said they did. (it doesn't sound like it though). The difference in price is over $500 and that is with the new mechanic making money and qual tech saying they are not making money. I call BS on Qual tech that is More than $500 difference that Qual tech is making on top of what they made off of me for doing the sensors. I am not one to leave negative reviews lightly, but as this is my second time having a frustrating experience with this shop I feel like I need to say my piece. In 2019 my dad and I took my Honda Accord to have some repair work done by this Qualtech. They replaced both the camshaft sprocket and solenoid valve, both parts relating to the timing system of the car. About 2 weeks later, my timing chain snapped leaving me stalled in the middle of 620 rush hour traffic. This is not a common issue on a generally reliable car like an Accord. My father went back and forth with the management, attempting to have them take responsibility for this happening. Eventually, after fighting tooth and nail for the better part of a week, Qualtech decided to fully replace the engine free of charge. They never outright took responsibility for the timing chain, but the fact that they decided to replace the engine for free, instead of going the legal route my dad threatened them with, speaks for itself. Now 2022, wary of my first experience with this shop I take my 2001 Mustang to diagnose some issues, as this is the closest shop to my apartment. I was already aware of an oil leak issue, but also had my check engine light come on periodically and had rough idle, engine slipping and a clicking noise coming from the right side of the car. I primarily was speaking with Bill, who I presume is the GM. He told me I needed to have my oil pan replaced as well as another major repair to get my oil issues fixed, each running me $800. A lot more expensive than I was expecting to fix oil pressure/leak but fair enough... He told me other than that the engine seemed to be running fine and that nothing was coming up on the OBD. I told Bill that, me being in my early 20's and still learning cars, had replaced the 5/6 spark plugs myself recently and that last one may be the cause of my issue. He agreed and offered to replace them for $160. He told me the clicking noise likely was my wheel bearings had gone bad, and this could have been initiated by a recent wheel swap I had done at the new Discount Tire on 620 (review on them coming soon...) I payed the $150 diagnostic fee, but was surprised when the only paper I received when picking up my car was a receipt that said they looked at the car. No service punch list, nothing... I changed all 6 spark plugs myself that night to see if that would solve the engine trouble, but later the next day (today) the same issues arose. I called Bill early this morning to see how much it'd be for them to swap out my front 2 bearings. He told me around $160 for labor and that he'd give me a call back about the parts. Total he told me $500 to for them to replace them. I decided to look into replacing the bearings myself and was surprised when Autozone only ran me $60 each for new hub assemblies. Did not seem to add up with QT pricing. I cannot help but feel like I am being overcharged and taken advantage of by both QT and DT because I am young and have a cheap car. I paid $150 for a piece of paper telling me they looked at the car, got no real answers except for on an issue I was already aware of. The prices they offered over the phone do not seem to match up with the actual cost of the parts + labor. This, on top of my experience in 2019, lead me to question their many good reviews. Bill was very nice and courteous, which I appreciate. However, I will be limping my car to a different shop to get a 2nd opinion. read more

BEWARE!! This place will overcharge the crap out of you. I took my car here to get fixed because they had stellar reviews. I recently got new tires at discount tire and noticed some shaking at high speeds afterwards. Took my car back to discount tire and they said tires look great but I should probably get my rotors checked. So I called qualtech to see if they could get me in, they said sure come on in. I left my car there at 1pm and called them around 5 to see the status because I needed my car to get to work the next day. They told me they will be giving me a call when they were done but never did, then at 6 when they were closing nobody answered the phones. So that was annoying but something I could look past. They call me the next morning and tell me my shocks and struts need replacing and that it will be around $2900. They told me that the tires placed on my vehicle were too heavy for it (Honda crv) causing the shocks to fail more quickly than a normal vehicle would. They recommended I go back to discount tire and get different tires for my vehicle as well as getting the shocks and struts replaced. I called discount tire and they were baffled, saying that is literally the size of tire the manufacture calls for and that they place those tires on my vehicle all the time with no problems. They even said , "I don't know what that guy is smoking over there but I wouldn't trust them to do any work on your vehicle after telling you something so ridiculous". I told qualtech I couldn't afford the work at this time, and they offered to give me the "bare minimum pricing" and applied any discounts they could to get my total down to 2657. A tactic to make you think you're getting a good deal when the initial price was so massively inflated to begin with. I go pick up my vehicle and decline the work, they charge me a $90 diagnostic fee!!! I went and asked for quotes from other mechanic shops for the same work done and got quotes under 2k across the board. I almost paid 1k extra because they saw a woman and thought they could take advantage! I got the work done elsewhere and ended up paying $1900. Thanks for your honest work, Rob. read more

These guys are really amazing!!! Best experience I have ever had with an auto repair shop - ever! I brought in my plug-in hybrid because the check engine light came on. When I picked up the car, they said that they probably fixed the problem (the engine light no longer on), but could not be 100% sure that the fix would be permanent. The amazing part is that they didn't charge me anything because of this. I marked my calendar on the day three months from the day I picked it up. If the light is still on, I will go back and pay them for their time. When was the last time you experienced such honesty and customer service! My car was hit and sent to them for suspension alignment/repair. They didn't replace anything and told me that my wheel was "within acceptable limits. " I told them I didn't understand why it looked like a kickstand on the side that got hit and not on the other side. He said my car was made that way and it's good to go. Thankfully, my adjuster took one look at it and sent it to another shop that said it was not acceptable and fixed it. My question is "who's limits?" I wouldn't bring my car back here again. I made an appt for Monday morning the week prior and was told I would have it back by Tuesday if I brought it in Monday instead of mid week the week before which would be 48 hours instead of 24. It still took 48. I made the appt and explained in detail the appt was to check the suspension on the car. I was told there was a $87.50 diagnostic fee. I agreed. I said while the car was there I needed the O2 sensor repaired. They said fine. My daughter dropped the car off Monday morning and they called me later that morning to get the details again on the suspension and what they were looking at. I explained again and mentioned the O2 sensor again as well. Wednesday afternoon someone calls me and said they looked at the car and the O2 sensor needs repair. It was $420 which included a $175 diagnostic fee. I asked why the fee if I already had that piece diagnosed and asked for that repair. He said it's standard to check themselves. No other conversations mentioned $175 fee!!!! I asked why $175 instead of the $87.50. He said the diagnostic fee changes by type of repair. I asked about the suspension. He said he had no idea they were checking suspension and he would call me back. About 10 mins later said the suspension was fine, no issues. I guess it's that quick to check?!? I don't feel sure it was thoroughly checked and that my son will be safe driving it. So hidden fees, no communication and wasted time and money. Unfortunate experience overall. I should have stuck with the dealer like I usually do. You pay more but you get thorough service done! Never again!! read more

Been coming here for years after our last shop closed down. Since the first experience it's always been great. I have a 2011 Honda CRV that has nearly 200,000 miles on it, so with that being said you know it's needed work many times. They are always up front with what to expect in terms of pricing, wait times, and work being needed. From the alternator, to catalytic converter (3x not their fault), oil changes, oil leaks, breaks and so much more they've always been able to get it done in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost. Brandon is always fantastic and has such a fun personality in person! Everyone there is so welcoming. Had the shield underneath the engine compartment sheered loose by a stretch of bad road on I35. Dealer wanted $100.00 just to look at it. Drove it in to QualTech. Up on the hoist it went. A screw here a screw there and off I went. When I asked what I owed the reply was "No charge." Now I realize this was not a major repair.
