I'm always looking for a good Thai spot but I've found that it's harder when you're not in the city. This spot completely changed my perception and provided an amazing takeout experience. Don't waste your time or money at this awful establishment. Waitress was rude and intoxicated bartender constantly came over to our table annoying us with his sensless rambling. He was so irritating and inappropriate. The food was decent, nothing special but the portions were miniscule. We has appetizers, soup and entrees and then went home and cooked dinner. shocking that this place manages to stay in business read more

Where do I begin... I was told by a friend that the food here was really good. So, I decided to go. I ordered shrimp tempura for an appetizer and my main dish was Pad Woon Sen with shrimp minus the chicken. For my drink I had a Thai ice tea (which was extremely sweet). The shrimp tempura was horrible it tasted like breaded shrimp. Usually shrimp tempura flaky as crunch and you can actually see the shrimp. That was not the case here. The Pad Woon Sen was also very sweet and the shrimp tasted like it was boiled first and then thrown into the dish. The meal totaled up to $40.00. I did not finish my food because it was so bad. I personally would not refer anyone to this restaurant. If you like real Thai food take a trip down to Brooklyn and check out Born Thai. They aim to please and the food is delicious. read more

For a place outside of New York City (Manhattan) it was pretty good. Really enjoyed the Tom yum soup (lemongrass one). I got the drunken man noddle with tofu. This restaurant isn't very non meat friendly, the tofu was okay. The dish don't have enough sauce. I ordered broccoli to be added, they put about 5 tiny pieces :( But overall it was yummy. Good not great. My meat eating friends definitely loved their dishes. The calamari we shared for the whole table were yummy, with a delicious sauce, but I've seen better serving size in Manhattan. Sea in Williamsburg and Spice on Union Square are definitely 5 star worthy. read more

This is my go-to Thai restaurant. Love the food and the owners are awesome. My only wish is that they opened earlier.

This is the best Thai Food I have had, Super Friendly staff and good prices. The spice chart is for real, and if you order it "thai" hot, your in for an authentic level of spice you may not be ready for. Their "Spicy" is about perfect with that brow sweating burn and great flavor one would expect. The masaman dishes and the noodle dishes are my favorites, along with the dishes with duck. This is definitely a solid place to get Thai food. I got takeout from here earlier this month and I got the chicken pad Thai. Other members of my party got the fried rice and a dish with glass noodles that I tasted, and were also very good. It is not the best Thai food I've ever had, but it is flavorful and it is a reasonable price. The portion size is also pretty impressive. Decided to give Kwan Thai a second chance. That was a mistake. Ordered brown rice with our meals. They brought out the main dishes and had to wait 15 minutes for the brown rice. When we questioned Peter, he shrugged his shoulders and said the brown rice was frozen and had to be cooked. We asked why the meals were brought out if the rice wasn't ready, and he again shrugged. Although the meals were good, the service was terrible. They will treat you nicely if you don't question them, otherwise they have a very bad attitude especially when you drop $200 on a meal. read more

I really wanna like this place, but this is the second time they mess up my lunch order....I ordered Pad Kii Mao with Spicy. I even opened it when I picked up the order and the noodle seemed plain. I asked the waiter to confirm if it's spicy, he confirmed yes. 4 stars for the food, 2 stars for the slow, SLOW service! But the food was really pretty good considering the lack of ethnic foods in the area. Also very authenticly spicy. Salads came really fast. Appetizers took another 10, 15 minutes. And they were staggered - we'd demolished two by the time our third one came. Then it was.. at least 30-40 minutes before we got our entrees. The first three. Two more came out in a few minutes. And the last one.. about 5 minutes later. Yes we were there during the lunch rush, but we got there early on purpose (11:45am) and definitely got our food way later than some tables who'd arrived after us. Appetizers: Chicken Sate - Chicken had decent texture, could've been more tender. Peanut sauce had almost no peanut flavor, and that was the whole reason I got this dish! Fried Wonton - Nice crunch. Good stuff. Chicken Puffs - Literally a puff - potsticker shaped, but much softer with a slight crunch, full of warm steamy gooeyness inside. Entrees (the ones that I remember): Pad Thai - Looked like it was on the heavier side for pad thai, with less peanut. My co-worker really liked it. L11 Kaw Keang Gai - This looked really really good. Soft rice noodles, with lots of beef and veggies. I'd get this next time I come. The person who got this also said it was really good. L12 Kaw Soy - I got this one. REALLY good. Crunchy dried noodle sprinkled on top + noodles in the curry meant there was that added crunch texture. The sauce itself was delicious - I was scraping my plate clean. Chicken was good.. once again, could've been more tender. I asked for medium spicy and it was perfect for me - just enough for flavor, not too much that I was dying (I can stand pretty spicy stuff). Red Curry Sauce & Coconut milk - Didn't look like as substantial of a meal as the specials - lots of curry, meat, some veggies. The guy who got this liked it, said it could've been more spicy though. Dessert: Pumpkin Custard - this was a special. It was DELICIOUS. Soft warm custard with pumpkin chunks on the bottom and some sort of cream poured on top. Great texture, nice and sweet and filling. One person ordered thai iced tea and they only had unsweetened - which basically makes it plain tea. You'd think the one thing that all Thai restaurants have is Thai iced tea.. Overall everyone really enjoyed their food! We'd come back, but we just hope that the service is faster next time. read more

This was wonderful. We were looking for something we had not had in a while and Thai food was the winner. The service was super friendly. They were enthusiastic, even though we were those people that no one likes that showed up shortly before closing. They were enthusiastic, energetic, and extremely helpful. It had the atmosphere of going over a friends house after long day and need to relax and have good food. We started with the thai iced tea and the Thai calamari, that was wonderfully crispy and hot. No sitting time under a food warmer for these squid. I enjoy thai ice tea it's always a good start. The tom yum gai at medium spice was delicious and luckily for me had mushrooms so I got to eat those. My boyfriend doesn't enjoy them for some reason. I had b10 on the menu. I love glass noodles and the vegetables were fresh and well cooked. The addition of their homemade green curry sauce made it a party in your mouth. We also had the fried wontons that were crispy and had a wonderful fresh flavor. We got the green tea ice cream and purple rice for desert. The flavors were wonderful. The pudding had the nice warmth and sweetness. Where the green tea was a perfect ender to the meal. The other patrons in the bar were clear to be regulars. Even for nearly closing there was a good bunch of folks. It definitely has the feel of a place you want to bring your friends to. Definitely intend to go back and try more of the menu. read more

The first time I ever ate Thai food I had Mee Grob (sometimes Krob) and I fell in love. I have never been able to find anything even remotely as good more locally, and I've tried! We were traveling for a semi-local getaway and decided to try this place as we try to support family-owned authentic restaurants. This place has an eclectic staff (our primary waitress had a thick Irish accent!) but it is not unusual to see Chef Kwan herself (we did on one occasion). EVERYONE here is very friendly and helpful! Kwan had me at the Mee Grob! Order this!!! It is delicious. We've eaten here twice and ordered heavy on the appetizers and split an entree. They have these Chicken Puffs (just don't expect chicken, it's pulverized so you aren't biting into some meat stuffed pastry) that were delicious. Fried Wontons stuffed with pork are very good too. We've had both the Kwan Rolls and the Summer Rolls that are both good with nice sauces. I hate when reviewers claim everything is "amazing" because that's just really not the case. These items were good. You won't be disappointed! Don't forget to use the green bottled sauce (Kwan's special!) with your appetizers! For dinner we got beef drunken noodles both times. We were quite full on our first visit, so that there was a lot more beef than noodles didn't bother us. On the second visit we asked for extra noodles. That made this dish perfect :-) I would highly recommend this place, and we'll be coming back here even when not traveling as it is close enough for a dinner out! read more

We were in town for a wedding and stopped for dinner on a blustery night. It was warm and inviting. Hot tea was plentiful. We shared GRILLED vegetable dumplings with a light dipping sauce (yum). Hubby truly enjoyed a mildly spiced wonton soup followed by chicken fried rice. Portions weren't huge, but just right. I had the chicken lettuce wraps for my meal. Again, not huge, but delicious. Just not good. The service was terrible. Dirty glasses. Poor service with no follow through. The food was consistently bland. The meats were flavorless and the vegetables were poorly matched. I have been going to Kwan Thai for over a decade. The food is outstanding, the service excellent. Peter and Kwan are friendly and will personally attend to your needs as well as ask you how you are enjoying the evening. My favorites are the Wings Kratiem, Spring Rolls, and the soups. Duck Pad Ka Prow isn't officially on the menu but ask them and they'll make it for you. Oh yeah, ask them for "Frank's Sauces" if you want a couple of dipping choices that will have you reaching for the Kleenex. Yeah, I've been using those sauces for a LONG time. A new appetizer is the Lemongras Chicken which is outstanding. Large enough for an entree if you order some other items. One of my favorite Thai restaurants on the East Coast. I don't know what everyone is raving about but this restaurant is disgustingly gross. Walked in here for a quick meal and found out they serve rice noodles instead of the broad noodle which is typically served for Pad se ew or whatever the hell its called. Then the waitress tells me it's $2/- extra if I want the thick noodle! Wait that's not all....I asked for spicy and I got a bunch of red pepper sprinkled all over my plate.
