Lobster Pad Thai

Sometimes you just have to have your Thai fix and there's no one better than Kwan. Omg always hits the spot.

Tempura Shrimp
Emma K.

Cute little Thai spot in Pearl River. Service was good, and food came out faster than I expected. We ordered tempura shrimp and vegetable dumplings for the table for appetizers. For an entree I ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp. The pad Thai had a different flavor than I am used to, a little more spicy, but it was still good. Overall I would come here again if I was in the area. Our friends also mentioned that they have a good take out.

Thai Iced Tea

The thai iced tea was one of the best I've had. The service was quick and attentive. The pancake duck wasn't for my particular taste, but the chicken pad see ew was amazing.

Spicy Papaya salad. Nice blend of heat and citrus.

This place has so much character. Friendly staff and really authentic food. I walked in and the place was bustling with takeout traffic at level I have not seen as of late during these times. The establishment is Covid compliant and offer optional patron screening. Patrons are appropriately distanced and the place is impeccably clean. The staff is gracious, professional and attentive. The menu can be made gluten free/vegan. The medley of savory spices and flavors have me wondering where this establishment as been all my life! I had drunken noodles with vegetables and it hit the palatable spot! They do serve alcohol. They can also accommodate larger parties without anyone feeling uncomfortable in today's times. I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning in the near future to try some of the other entrees like the new Grilled Sesame Tuna over salad with ginger dressing. This hidden gem is a gem indeed. Definitely check it out!

Their homemade sauces, it's not crazy spicy but a real nice unique taste.

Came here earlier today for family date night when they just opened 5pm. We were the first to get seated and boy did it get busy quick. I believe it was the owner, owners husband and another worker. All Handling tables, the bar and pick up/take out orders in person and phone. I must say they are def on point with service just as much as they are with their food! Wish I took pics of the menu, not realizing there wasn't any on here. But there is a menu on their site which seems pretty accurate to me. Let's just say I'm Cambodian and Chinese aka our food is very similar to Thai cooking. It felt like my mom cooked for me. Hats off to the chef! I only wish I wasn't vegetarian and could of tried everything we ordered! Appetizers we had MEE GROB and TAO HOO TOD. Super jealous I didn't taste the mee grob cz it looks so tasty! The boys loved it and saved some of the noodle to top off their entrees for a extra crunch. The Tao hoo tod was great, it was like a puffed tofu but juicy. Which I've used puffed tofu many times and it was always dried so hey whatever you guys do to them? Keep it up cz it works! I had the MIXED VEGETABLE PAD PHED and it def has a kick of heat but with the rice mixed in? It calmed it down plus sips of beer always helps haha Husband had the pad Thai and said the flavor was great. It wasn't over powering as usually other places put way too much fish sauce and sugar that everything else cancels out. So it was a good balance. Our son had the drunken noodle and said it was good but I saw him pushing away too much aka less noodle than he expected. Can't actually comment on the taste tho. It was our first time coming and def won't be our last. We live only 7 mins away and yet never seen this place. It's In a cute lil town on the border line of ny and nj. Parking meters are everywhere, everyone wore a mask, social distancing and no overcrowded seatings. Portions were pretty big as well and decent price. I believe there was a cc charge which I didn't bother reading to see why. I mean come on we're in a pandemic... I'll gladly give a few extra bucks to support the locals. Overall I had a great experience and I just couldn't resist to write a review. Hopefully y'all give this place a shot and enjoy it as much as we did.

Summer rolls- perfect!
Su C.

The owners and the servers are extremely fun to talk to. The servers will never allow a cup of water to be empty - extremely important for us on these hot summer days! Lol They have a decent bar and great service. The food is authentic and delicious, and you get to order your preferred spicy level! My favorites were the summer rolls and the chicken drunken noodle. These Thai dishes are packed with flavor--not too sweet, not too fishy and not too spicy. Definitely check this place out; you won't regret it!

Kwan's Bang Bang Shrimp
Michelle S.

This is the best Thai food I've ever had! I always get the bang bang shrimp and the chicken pad Thai (spicy). They're delicious! Tonight I got the keanh kiew wan which is green curry with coconut milk, eggplant, chili and sweet basil leaves. I got it with chicken. It comes with rice. It was out of this world! It's great if you're gluten-free as well they offer a lot of options. I know my presentation doesn't do it justice but I got my food to-go tonight. I will continue going to this spot and making others come with me as well. Definitely my favorite Thai spot around!

This Asian fusion spot in a nondescript plaza has a large menu with a lot of small plates/street food, baos (with varying fillings), tacos/quesadillas/tostadas, curry, traditional Asian dishes, poutine, burgers, noodles like pad thai and plenty of veg-friendly items. We most enjoyed the chicken empanadas (generous filling, good flavor), cod tacos, and vegetarian spring rolls. The tofu lettuce wrap didn't have a strong flavor even though it seemed to have a lot of sauce. The beef Jerky (a bit tough and chewy) and vegetarian dumplings were okay, but not favorite items. We didn't order any items that were larger portion and it's very easy to rack up the bill with $9-12 small bites. Inside, you could forget that you're in suburbia because this place is pretty trendy. There's artwork and words on the wall and the menu tries to be clever (succeeds in some ways but not necessarily to grammar snobs). There's a 3% surcharge for credit card purchases. There's a Chinese food restaurant and Taimoca coffee place in the plaza as well.

Go for the fusion dishes, skip the Italian specials. We…read moreloved the bao buns and korean tacos. The specials that day (we got frutti di mare and another pasta a la vodka?) were disasters. Not sure if they used a fusilli, gemelli, or cavatappi, but it tasted like microwaved overcooked pasta. I was expecting a spaghetti, linguini, or bucatini for the frutti di mare and penne, ziti or rigatoni for the a la vodka, so just the choice of pasta was a surpenned, the fact that we got the same for 2 very different dishes indicated that that was the only pasta they had in the kitchen. All said, it would've been totally fine if both dishes didn't taste like mush. And both sauces tasted nearly identical. Sad, because service was great and the other dishes were absolutely phenomenal. They ran out of the ramen that day so I suspect that's a popular dish as well. I would just stick with the fusion style dishes. If my rating was based on the two fusion plates I had, would definitely be 4 stars!

Asian Fusion Meets Pub Food: A Delightful Dilemma…read more The biggest challenge at this restaurant is deciding what to choose! With an array of intriguing options alongside classic pub fare, the menu is an adventure! It's small but comfortable and well decorated. The service was quick and friendly. I started with a lychee martini, perfectly paired with Korean Short Rib Tacos. The balance of flavors was impeccable--neither too sweet nor too stiff, with a texture that was just right. The tacos delivered a burst of flavor that did not disappoint. We also tried the Bahn Mi, which had great flavor, though it might not make our reorder list. A favorite from the pub menu was fried pickles. A must-have at every restaurant I visit, served as coins--the only proper way, in my opinion. The breading was thick, crispy, and well-seasoned, reminiscent of a chicken nugget. In the most delicious way. I can't wait to return and explore more of the menu. This place is definitely on our list of regular haunts.

4.5 stars We had…read moretried several Thai restaurants in Bergen and Rockland county and had continually been disappointed. However, that changed with our discovery of SOD. First off, the staff was extremely nice, both on the phone while placing our order and during our seamless pickup. Though we took the food to-go, their dining room was certainly cozy and comfortable enough for dining in on another occasion. When we got home and unpacked the food, we saw that the portions were generous and that everything was well-packed. We started by sharing the unique, Handmade Thai Crepe Dumplings. The beautiful dark purple noodle wraps had been stuffed with peanuts and turnips, a spectacular flavor combination covering salty, nutty, and sweet profiles. I then had my Tom-Yum Soup, which had been served in a quart container that was about 2/3 full, so a bit more than a pint. The spicy, sour lemongrass broth was packed with mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, lemongrass, Kaffir lime leaves, and tender white meat chicken, which we had asked to be added. The soup had been prepared with a medium spice level that was ideal for the dish. However, the restaurant was not shy with their spices on the main courses! I went with my standard Pad Se-Ew with Chicken, for which I do not typically specify a heat level. However, the restaurant's menu mentioned that spice could be added between mild and extra hot. I asked for medium, but it was definitely more fiery than I had expected! However, the noodles were delicate and the Chinese broccoli was fresh and crisp. My mouth might have been a bit numb, but I could still tell that the dish was tasty! Everyone else loved their individual plates, though we all took note that we should be more careful with our requested spice levels going forward. In addition to our own meals, we shared an order of the Garlic Noodles with Chicken, since it was an unusual dish for a Thai restaurant. It contained sautéed, flat rice noodles with egg, bean sprouts, scallions, garlic, sesame oil, and tender chicken. A mild heat level was perfect for this, as the lack of fire allowed the robust sesame and garlic notes to make an impact. Each piece of chicken was lean, moist, and tender. SOD Thai really exceeded my expectations and was definitely a local gem that we would order from again!

Homey, family run, authentic eatery that brings in the hospitality of the Land Of Smiles. I was there for dinner recently for a family event and we ordered 7 entrees and some appetizers and had it family style. Most notable dishes were the Chive Pancake appetizers - light and fluffy, crusty on the outside with a tangy tamarind sauce to accompany. For the main entrees: the Shriracha Fried Rice was outstanding. Well balanced and tangy with just enough heat and crunch. The Pad See Noodles and Garlic Noodles were both heavenly. You could taste that the rice noodles were made fresh, each day. You won't want to miss the Tamarind Shrimp either. A most unique dish. The other remarkable dishes was the Green Curry with papaya and bamboo shoots. Simply divine. For each entree, you decide what kind of protein you'd like or go vegan. Reasonably priced with attentive and friendly service. Don't let the strip mall vibes put you off. Park the car, pull up a chair and get ready to feast. You won't be disappointed.
