    Rainbow Roll

I was glad to see that a Japanese restaurant had recently come to Reston Town Center. Apart from a ramen place, It had been years without one. When Kusshi opened, we gave it some time to settle in. We were here on a Sunday for an early dinner. Even though we arrived early (around 4 p.m.), a few tables were already occupied. As we entered the place, a party of four was right behind us. So it seems popular. After looking at what was available (the menu is a la carte), we placed our orders. We started with our drink orders. I ordered a hot cup of genmaicha, only to be told they were all out--bad news on such a cold day. The server offered to bring me a hot cup of barley water, which I declined and stuck with tap water. My husband ordered a Kirin Light beer. For an appetizer, we chose shishito peppers, and we both ordered miso soup. The sizable portion of peppers was well-grilled and flavored. Shishitos are tricky. For the most part, they are mild peppers. However, like Anaheim peppers, sometimes a hot pepper shows up. The first two I ate, oh...they were hot. The rest were mild. We ordered miso soup. It arrived steaming hot. It was excellent. It was a larger serving than what most Japanese restaurants provide. It had a generous amount of tofu and green onions. It was almost a meal in itself. For my main course, I chose a "rainbow roll" which consists of: "California roll with tuna, salmon, and yellowtail". It was a very generous-sized roll, well assembled. The wasabi and ginger portion was quite adequate. A bottle of low-sodium soy sauce is placed on the table. I really enjoyed this roll. My husband ordered the "Teriyaki dinner" which consists of "grilled protein, stir-fried seasonal vegetables served with steamed rice and teriyaki sauce. The choice of proteins are chicken, salmon, or shrimp. He chose chicken. It was quite a sizable portion, so we took some home to have for lunch the next day. At one point during the meal, our server brought us each a cup of hot barley water (to make up for not having hot tea). Since barley doesn't agree with me, I passed on it. Overall, the service was very friendly and efficient. The vibe definitely says "Japanese restaurant" with the decor and the requisite sushi bar. One drawback is the sound level. And, yes, we will go again.

Excellent excellent food. We had spicy tuna avocado balls, seared fatty tuna app, and the cherry blossom roll. All were delicious and the fish was fresh. The service was exceptional. Definitely bookmarking this place for when we are in town

I took my cousin here to have a birthday cocktail and I was pleasantly surprised. My waitress Michelle was very knowledgeable and very sweet. I love the dimly lit ambiance of the restaurant and the food was amazing. I especially loved my cocktail and the vast variety of sushi rolls. The wings are also top-tier. I will definitely be back.

Always amazing service. Jordan welcomes you in to dine. Their sushi menu is vast and everything is delicious. Their cocktails are incredible and one of a kind. The banana sake is WOW! I love that their sake menu is so big too- lots of sake to choose from. Their fish is fresh and the vibes are perfect to start off your weekend. We really love coming here. It's truly always a delightful experience. Thanks Kusshi in RTC for being amazing!

We came for a girls lunch and left super full and happy! This restaurant is a great addition to RTC and is located adjacent to the running store. The ambiance is bright and modern and service was exceptional. There were great lunch specials and I ordered the two rolls for $14, getting the spicy tuna and tuna with avocado. My friend said her salmon bento was delish and it looked perfect! The miso soup was flavorful and a nice warm touch on a cold winter day. The menu had a lot of specialty rolls I can't wait to try on another trip. I recommend giving this a try!

Rating 3.5 overall. This is based on a delivery review and taking advantage of some BOGO deals. Overall the food was fine, but no better than getting sushi from Wegmans or Whole Foods IMO.

This was a pretty good sushi experience, inside is really clean and we came at a great time too. Our server took great care of us. This was a light review but jumping straight to the point good food is good food. And I liked this places sushi.

I loved their HH deals here! Super worth it! The Seared Fatty Salmon was definitely my favorite, it seriously just melts in your mouth as soon as you eat it. I also enjoyed the Chicken Karaage, it was very crispy on the outside. The Baltimore Roll was great! It had a decent amount of crab in each piece, though I do wish we had more pieces in general. I'd love to come back and try their cocktails one day! The service was good, and our waiter checked up on us several times. The restaurant is also nice inside and fairly spacious. Great spot for HH in Reston!

New Japanese spot in the town center! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. We tried several dishes: * Chicken Karaage - 8/10: Crispy and flavorful. * Wagyu Fried Rice - 6/10: The meat was a bit tough and lacked the fatty richness you'd expect; the rice itself could use more flavor. * Kusshi Oysters - 10/10: Super fresh and straight from Japan--definitely a highlight. * Salmon Roll - 6/10: Decent but pretty plain. * Ramen - 8/10: The broth was delicious, though the noodles absorbed it quickly after a few minutes. Overall, a welcoming spot with some standout items and a few dishes that could use a little improvement.

Amazing rolls! I don't think you can go wrong with anything that sounds good.

Kusshi is amazing! I came here for happy hour last week with a friend who lives nearby. It was amazing! We tried the shumai, the dumplings, shishito peppers, and an embarrassing amount of rolls, including the soft shell crab roll which is one of my favorites. Our sever was fantastic! I wish I had his name, but he was sweet, helpful and focused. It's not a huge place, but it is very nicely decorated and very comfortable. I'm so jealous that I can't just pop in once or twice a week!. But if you can, you definitely should!

Congrats Kusshi on expanding another location in VA! What a beautiful space and vibes! As always, their sushi does not disappoint! My favorite is the seared fatty tuna. Droools! Love sharing a boat with friends so you can get an assortment! They've just opened so give the servers some slack! But visit and their food does not disappoint!

Very popular and heavily trafficked place so obviously quality has to give. Sequence of food coming in was off putting-they brought the hot sushi before the dozen chilled shucked oysters appetizers. Sashimi looks ok but i probably will not be coming back anytime soon. Something or some are missed for sure... Not bad for a casual or quick lunch spot.

Jinya Ramen Bar offers a trendy, modern, metropolitan atmosphere. The space has a lively energy, with techno/disco-style music playing in the background, a full bar, and televisions featuring sports programming. The crowd appeared to include a number of younger couples, which added to the overall vibrant feel. I ordered the Chicken Yuzu Shio Delight and customized it with spicy bean sprouts, fresh garlic, and chicken wontons (each an additional charge). The dish arrived hot--which I always appreciate--and was exactly what I was looking for: flavorful, well-balanced, and satisfying without being too heavy. My kids ordered from the children's menu and clearly enjoyed their meals--they liked it so much that they asked for more noodles. I ended up sharing some of mine and ultimately ordered an additional bowl. The staff was very accommodating throughout, which made the experience even better. The restaurant is family-friendly, even with a bar as a central feature (which we did not utilize). The host was welcoming, and the staff presented a cohesive, modern look with all-black attire. While the style is clearly part of the restaurant's trendy aesthetic, some aspects of the dress may be a matter of personal preference (too short in my opinion, I would not like my daughters wearing such short attire). Overall, this was a great experience. The food was satisfying without being overly heavy, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere was engaging. I would certainly recommend Jinya Ramen Bar to anyone in the mood for quality ramen in a lively setting.

I've only ever ordered takeout from Kindi Chicken Rice but I liked that the fried chicken was still crispy and juicy when I brought it back home. Would I order again? : I would order again if I'm in the mood. When I was living in Philly, I used to love frequenting Cily Chicken Rice, which was also a Thai-style hainanese chicken rice spot. So, when I moved to NOVA, I was excited to find a similar restaurant nearby. Unfortunately, Kindi Chicken Rice isn't quite as good but it's still pretty decent. The ginger-garlic rice doesn't have enough garlic flavor and was a little dry. Also, I didn't like the ratio of chicken to rice; there was only six pieces of chicken for all the rice that was given. Lastly, the daikon soup had the classic peppery taste but lacked salt/umami flavor. But I did like that the daikon was sliced whereas the daikon in the Cily Chicken Rice soup is just one hunk of daikon.

I've had the chicken parm, the Cuban sandwich, burgers, and salads and everything had been tasty and freshly prepared. I love a good Cuban sandwich and NYAJ's is a good one, and they are one of the few restaurants with a Waldorf salad on the menu, so I have ordered that several times. My only critique of that would be, I wish it had the candied pecans that are listed as an ingredient on the menu, but the last 3 times I have had that salad, they have been missing. I also love the French onion soup there, as well as many of the appetizers. You really do not have to worry about getting a bad meal at Not Your Average Joe's, it's very reliable.
