    Crispy Rice and Yellowtail Serrano
    Joe S.

What a nice surprise! We were attending a performance nearby and I saw a decent review on Yelp so I thought we'd give them a shot. Upon entering, we were greeted immediately and told to order at the kiosk and then to sit anywhere. By anywhere, that meant one of two or three tables next to the window. I was a bit taken aback by the sparseness of the place and the fact that one of the refrigerated cases was completely empty. But the server, who seemed to also be the owner, quickly updated us tray it was only the second day they had been open following a remodel. We placed our order and grabbed the only available table. It was explained to us that the menu isn't very large so that they can focus on quality over quantity, something I appreciate. The food came out quite fast and was in a bag ready for us to take home. Except we were dining in. When I mentioned that, he shrugged. Okay, I'm thinking. Maybe it was a simple mistake, so we took everything out of the bag and arranged it on the table. Over the course of the meal, I noticed that all orders were prepared that way, whether dine in or take out. We ordered the Crispy Rice, Yellowtail Serrano, Ponzu Albacore, the Spicy Tuna Avocado Crunch roll (I believe) and two orders of the Tuna Lovers sushi. After fidgeting around with all of the individual containers and setting up some wasabi and soy sauce in one of the lids, we indulged. By this point, I am slightly annoyed that we are essentially serving ourselves, and no dipping bowls or other items were offered. But my annoyances were quickly overcome at the first bite. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was incredibly fresh and delicious. The assorted Tuna Lovers sushi featured 4 different preparations, each one better than the last. The sashimi slices were amply cut and the toppings perfectly complemented the fish. The crispy rice was fairly standard and the roll was nice and flavorful. The bottom line is that I wish this place were closer to me. I'd be eating there frequently. My inclination was to give them 5 stars due to the freshness of the food, but I need to knock off a star due to the ambiance and service. For the price, I really expect to be served and not have to order at a kiosk. I also expect food to comer out on actual dishes, not in a take out bag with disposable containers. So...4 stars it is. But I look forward to returning at some point and if they correct those things, and the food is just as good, I'll write a new 5 star review!

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon when craving some sushi. I was at the SAG building and this place was near by. The plaza is small and shares it with several other businesses. Parking is very limited. I had to park at the nearby residential area and then moved my car once a spot opened up. Couldn't find any meter parking as they were all taken. I got 3 Kumo sets. I ate 2 and my kid ate 1. It was fresh and great quality sushi. We enjoyed everything and we will be back next time we are in the area. You order from a tablet and pay on your own. It was quick and easy. Check their hours. They are open from 4pm. Definitely recommend.

Came here after my friend told me about their $20 Kumo sushi set, and it was totally worth it. FOOD: 5/5 The set included crispy rice tuna, a tuna roll, and four pieces of sushi. Everything tasted super fresh, and one of the sushi pieces was toro, which melted in my mouth. Amazing quality for the price. Would definitely come back and recommend supporting this spot. SERVICE: 5/5 You order at a kiosk when you walk in. Seating is limited (only two tables for now), so it's more of a quick bite place, but service was fast. The girl who gave me my order was really nice, and the sushi was made fresh without a long wait. ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 Small, casual sushi spot with minimal parking, but there's street parking nearby. It wasn't crowded when I went, which made it a chill experience.

DISGUSTING! DISGUSTING!! DISGUSTING!!! I will never return nor recommend them! Ever! Their "fish" looked and tasted fake and nasty. Made me feel sick instantly! Can't believe they took over the space once 2 Cents closed.

Heard so many good things about this new sushi restaurant and was so excited to try. I got their set that came with crispy rice tuna, two pieces sashimi, nigiri, spicy tuna roll and edamame seaweed salad and miso soup on the side. Price came out to be 37$ but I wanted to try a little bit of everything and was down for this little sampler menu. Really wanted to like this place but the sashimi was thrown around randomly, every time I picked a nigiri piece the rice just fell off and I thought the texture on the crispy rice tuna was stale. Side dishes and miso soup were fine but was genuinely not impressed.

Always a good meal here. I'm excited to see the market open up! Can't wait to see it. Service is fast considering how many orders pile up. Such an easy place to drop by and pick up sushi on the way home

I came across this place online and decided to check it out. If you do, please note they are still in their soft opening so there is limited seating, etc. all employees were super friendly and the quality of the fish was great. Super excited for when they open!

    $20 special
    Fiona W.

The $20 special is so good and such a great deal. The quality of fish was amazing and so fatty! There are only 2 small tables inside but they offer takeout! I will 100% be coming back.

The sushi set and salmon plate. Missing our other orders.

First time there. Last time ever. We ordered take out for the dinner. The person working the counter was giving half an effort in helping us. It is pretty pricey for a very small amount of food. Their set is $30 but feeds one person. We ordered and got home and were missing food items. Over-priced, lousy help, and missing food. No thanks.

Highly recommend. Always friendly, fairly priced, good quality and fast! The neighborhood needed this!

This is personally my favorite sushi spot in Los Angeles. I've tried a lot of different places in LA, but this one hits the nail for me because of how they season their rice and emphasize good quality fish. I've been trying to look for a go-to for a while now, but this one for sure is it for me. Chef Roy, George, and the staff are so welcoming and kind. They're funny too, I heard them re-enacting "Yes Chef" from The Bear TV show. It made me laugh as they definitely know how to have fun while serving their customers. Small spot with limited parking inside the plaza, but there's never any issues with street parking. Seats are also limited too, so order to-go if anything. Will come back (again) for my next sushi fix. I've come here twice in two days... the Kumo Set is too good. The tuna is the BEST & melts in your mouth.

    Nigiri omakase
    Tania C.

This is the best sushi I have eaten in a long time! The fish quality is unbelievable, the tuna sashimi melted in my mouth. Chefs are super friendly, and prices are affordable. I hope them the best of luck in their new restaurant! I had the Kumo Combo (so delicious I forgot to take a picture) and a Nigiri Omakase. BOMB!!

Cool variety of rolls, Spicy Tuna, Salmon Avocado, California, and Seared Salmon. Delicious.
    Raven W.

I finally found a local sushi place that tastes great and was fast! My only complaint is that the Miso Soup was lukewarm, still had a good flavor.

Delicious salmon avocado rolls with soy paper!

My review is for take out only…read more Food: Hot, fresh, cooked to order (judging by the wait time), which was still reasonable, and delicious. I got a chicken bowl with teriyaki sauce on the side, and unless you upgrade to white meat for extra it comes with thigh and leg meat (dark meat). I like that though since it's juicy. The portion size is good for the price and I felt the amount of meat included was just right without needing to add extra. Also subbed out for fried rice, which is yummy as well. Ambiance: it's cute fast casual imo. You can order at a table from a kiosk and enjoy the food there or take it to go like I did. If I had more time I wouldn't mind sitting there. It was peaceful for a Friday.

It's not the best, but it's consistent and tasty. However, to not keep paying delivery fees, we decided to go in person since the restaurant is close by, and that was a mistake. It's a cute, clean restaurant in a weird location, tucked into a corner by the target. They have tablets at the tables, which is fun, and they still brought paper menus, but we ordered off the tablet. It is odd because while my husband was deciding what to order, the tablet told us to order or it would time out. So I ordered my food and sent it in and then a few seconds later, my husband put in his order. Mine came out quickly and was the quality I'd come to expect. And then...we waited. And waited. Other parties slowly trickled in (prior it had been mostly empty). When I saw they got their food long before my husband received his, I flagged one of the two waitresses and she assured us they were working on it. Like me, my husband got two sushi rolls. It took another 15 minutes (during which time soups and plates had been handily delivered to other tables) before my husband finally got his food. There was no apology, and no acknowledgment that two rolls took over a half hour. If they had forgotten the order or something had gone awry, that's fine! I understand the chaos of a busy kitchen. But to not acknowledge or check on us in a near empty restaurant is just poor service. I will stick to ordering online.

It felt like one of those slow, cozy days where time doesn't rush you…read more I met up with my college friend after what felt like forever, and somehow we both landed on the same craving--ramen. No debate, no hesitation. Just ramen. I had tried this spot at another location before and remembered liking it, so it felt like a safe, comforting choice for a long overdue catch-up. We got there at that in-between hour... not quite lunch, not quite dinner. The kind of time where the restaurant feels like it's just exhaling. It was completely empty except for us, which honestly made everything feel a little more intimate--like the space was ours for the afternoon. We sat down and immediately slipped into conversation, picking up right where we left off after graduation. Life updates, little wins, quiet struggles... the kind of conversation that only comes easy with people who've known you for years. And in between all that, our mouths were busy. The ramen came out hot, comforting, and exactly what we needed. Rich broth, satisfying noodles--one of those meals where you don't even realize how hungry you were until you take the first bite. We kept pausing mid-sentence just to take another bite, then laughing because we couldn't decide what deserved more attention: the food or the conversation. Service was really attentive without being intrusive. They somehow knew when to check in and when to let us just exist in our little bubble. The music was soft, not overpowering, so we never had to raise our voices or repeat ourselves--something I appreciate more and more these days. We stayed longer than we probably planned, but it didn't feel rushed at all. Just two old friends, warm bowls of ramen, and a space that let us slow down for a bit. Definitely one of those simple meals that turns into a really good memory.
