Tuna roll (left), Hollywood Roll (right), Spicy Albacore Roll (bottom)

I will caveat this review by saying that I did order off of Uber Eats, and there was a buy one get one deal for the three rolls I chose. I ordered the tuna roll, spicy albacore roll, and the Hollywood roll. The tuna roll is pretty much all rice with a tiny piece of tuna, and the spicy albacore roll was not fresh. The Hollywood roll was the best, however, it was still lacking in quality of the fish and flavor. The Hollywood roll also comes with a chipotle mayo (I think), but the chipotle mayo is so watered down, it's a very interesting consistency with little flavor. Overall, these sushi rolls were not that great, the fish is not that fresh, and the flavors are lacking. However, because of the Uber Eats, buy one get one, the price and value was really good.

12/26/2025 - This is a Sushi restaurant over 4 years. The Sashimi mix and Hamachi Kama are excellent. The yellowtail belly is absolutely 5 stars - it is fatty and butterly. Surprisely, matcha latte is also very good. Don't underestimate this small sushi restaurant. The prices are reasonable in today's standard. A small shared parking lot is available in front of the restaurant.

SO SO SO SOOOO SURPRISED that this place isnt popping!!! Food was amazing!!! at a regular sushi place they give u 8 rolls, but this place gives u TEN !!! like um hi no skinny queens here. Service was great, waitress was super kind & made sure we had everything we needed. The sushi chefs were asking us how our food was. *the ONLY downside is that its in a small plaza with barely any parking but like the food is so good u kinda just have to sacrifice ur legs and park far and walk. other than that, 10/10 would come again thank u

My new favorite spot!!! I've been twice within 2 weeks (so far). Everything we get is always a 10/10. The fish quality is sooo good. We got the salmon belly/yellowtail belly sushi and wow, melted in the mouth. Edamame is always a hit, as well as spicy tuna crispy rice. Interior is nice, clean, and very well thought out. Service is great too, and everyone is super friendly! They always said bye as a team when we left. That shows a lot of care. Will be back for sure!!!

Stumbled upon this place as we were looking for sushi and we were pleasantly surprised by how lucky we got. This place was amazing and the staff was so friendly. We were the only people in the restaurant at the time so we got everything pretty quickly and each roll was so good. I almost forgot my shopping bag and the staff was so kind they saw it and ran after me in the parking lot to give me my bag- which I highly appreciated! Definitely recommend and will keep this place in mind to visit again.

Ordered 4 rolls and they only gave 1 side of ginger, no soy sauce, no chopsticks. They are so cheap. If a place is cheap with that stuff you know they are cheap with fish. Probably why the spicy tuna is so spicy. I won't be eating here anymore.

As a Japanese person, I'm super picky about sushi but this spot is truly amazing. Such great quality fish and ingredients for a reasonable price, and I absolutely love the homey vibes. They also have an extensive menu. I LOVE!

    Crispy Rice

Crispy rice with spicy tuna was as expected and had a nice presentation. However, the miso soup was flavorless and not worth $5 per serving.

the staff here are so friendly, speedy, and enhance the welcoming environment of Kaijin! I'm picky with my sushi and could tell it was very fresh and made with care. the prices are also wallet friendly, and there's even a parking lot?! I want to gatekeep this place, but really want them to succeed! Trust this review and head over to your new favorite sushi stop :)

Service was quick and the server was attentive. Moved the salmón sashimi. It was smooth, fresh and delicious. Don't expect lots of parking or space. Vegan options and sale can be ordered from a neighboring vendor yet brought to you.

It was 6:40 pm on a Sunday and the restaurant seems full. The ambience is cute inside. There are only two Japanese waiters speaking in broken English. Upon sitting, it took 15 min for anyone to come by to take the order. Then it took another 20 min & multiple asks to get the beer that was ordered. No water provided the whole time. The udon came out another 20 min later. Followed by takoyaki in another 5 min. Finished food in 10 min and paid and left. Since there was nothing to do for a good 35 min, I was observing other customers. There was no easy way to quickly input orders. There was no fast way to pay and leave. The two overworked servers had to wait one by one to take orders and pay. There was absolutely no order or ways to keep track who came first or last (the table after me finished eating before I got my beer). Speaking do the food, the #1 spicy niku udon was so salty that there's no way to drink any of the soup. Since there's no complimentary water serves, I dumped an entire bottle of my own water to be able to eat it. There were maybe a few slices of beef at most. Definitely not a yummy udon. Best part was takoyaki - I have to say this is the best thing I've had in the restaurant. Ultimately, I concur with the recent reviews - this is not a real 4-star place.

Definitely a good spot for a date night. I was craving some yakitori, so we ordered a bunch of different ones including Negima, Gizzard, Tsukune, Wings, Chicken Thigh, Liver, Hearts, and Cartilage. All the yakitori was cooked to order and everything came out really good. We also had the Hokkaido Scallops & Sweet Shrimp Crudo, which was delicious. For sushi, I ordered some nigiri including Scallop, Salmon Belly, Bluefin Toro, and Kanpachi, plus the King Tuna Roll. I have to say everything tasted pretty good. I honestly came in thinking it was going to be just okay, but I was pleasantly surprised and ended up really enjoying everything we ordered. Overall, the food was good and the atmosphere was nice and intimate. I'd definitely come back, especially for the yakitori. Great little spot for a date night if you're around The Grove.

Interesting experience to say the least…read more Came on a Saturday night off the whim and was seated right away. There's indoor and outdoor. Outdoor consists of the sidewalk & a sectioned off patio section. I liked the dark ambiance, it felt very romantic. The lighting was very intimate. A waitress came, got our drink orders and we ordered the duck breast as an appetizer. We got our drinks, which the tall glass is very misleading as I felt like I barely sipped anything and it was GONE, lol. I ordered the watermelon drink and it was tasty, I just wanted watermelon water anyways. It came with a watermelon slice which was nice. After the drinks we were WAITING idk how long until a different waitress came and took our order ?? We put in our entree, received them & never got our appetizer. We were waiting a long time for someone else to come by. I ordered the seared kanpachi jalapeño roll, which 10/10!! it was flavorful, had the spice & felt fresh. I didn't have to add anything like soy sauce to it. I just eat all my sushi with ginger and it paired great with it. Finally someone showed up & we said we ordered a duck breast appetizer with the first waitress, which was never put in. So the second waitress went ahead and put it in. The duck breast has an interesting texture. I can't explain it. I did not like the texture. The flavor was fine but the texture really threw me off personally. Kind of reminded me of pâté cat food, it felt like how paté cat food looks if that makes sense. Texture wise. Overall, service was trash. The waitresses were both unfriendly, but I guess that's just LA customer service nowadays. We waited forever. Spent more time waiting rather than eating. Valet or street metered parking. Restrooms in the back, 2 single unisex stalls.
