It was a special occasion, and I wanted a special place. I found Kumi, and I had a fantastic meal! Ah Yeong, my server, was fantastic as well, giving me attentive service, helpful suggestions and much charm. Plus she and the chef did me a favor. She could tell by my choices and our discussion that I love Hamachi. She and the chef kindly made a substitution on one of the items for me.
And that was, from the Moriwasi menu, assorted sashimi: this was divine. I was shocked and delighted to see huge slabs of sashimi on my platter: two kinds of salmon, squid, tuna and, for me, Hamachi. It was served with shiso leaves, which I love, thereby giving me a chance for different flavor experiences with my wonderful fish.
I started with the miso soup. This soup was unsurpassed (and the miso magically made a heart while I was eating it...) My next choice was the gomae: blanched spinach with black sesame sauce--I've never had this before and loved it. It was perfect. I next enjoyed my sashimi, and my "dessert" was a completely delightful Yuzu Hamachi Crudo (6pcs): yellowtail crudo, avocado, and red radish, ponzu, drizzled with mango-yuzu sauce and truffle mayo, green oil, tobiko and parsley.
Very nice sake and a pinot grigio paired very nicely with my selections. All wonderful! read more
