Two Stars Kumi's Restaurant I'm honestly disappointed. The last time I came here, the food was mediocre, but at least it was warm. This time? Not one hot bite on the entire buffet line. I tried ten different things, waited for fresh trays, even thought maybe the teriyaki chicken would save the day nope. Cold. Everything was cold. When I go out to eat, I expect hot food. This stuff tasted like it had been sitting out long enough that you'd have to microwave it just to bring it back to life. Under real heat lamps or proper steam tables, this food could've been great. Instead, it felt like they were cutting corners on the very basics. I've been to buffets where the food is actually hot 90+ degrees, no guessing games. Here, I was honestly wondering if the temperature even met health standards. And that's a problem. The only hot thing I ate was a bowl of pho, and that's because the broth sits on an actual heater. Everything else? Cold chicken, cold sides, cold entrées. Charging people full price for cold food is ridiculous, and in my opinion, borderline theft. Then there's the cleanliness. I walked down a hallway full of dust and dirt clinging to the walls. In the men's bathroom, there's graffiti, cleaning supplies sitting out, buckets and brooms in plain sight. Even the main hallway had rolled-up carpet just sitting there. It all screams cheap and neglected, like nobody wants to clean and nobody wants to invest in basic upkeep. This isn't a one-off complaint from a first-time visitor. I came back hoping it would be better and walked out wishing I had gone somewhere else. Cold food and poor cleanliness don't just disappoint customers, they drive them away and cost the business money in the long run. Cutting corners isn't saving you anything. I hope someone reads this and avoids the same letdown. And I hope management reads it and realizes people will gladly come back for hot food and a clean restaurant but not for this. Honestly, it should've been a one-star visit, but the pho saved you from that. read more

Five for one of the best buffets I have been to. The food is plentiful, looks good, it taste good and has many many selections. With all of the choices of food, there is also a sushi buffet up the center of the area. Everything tastes so good highly recommend. read more

They don't have a lot of varieties of food like Mizumi does. Some of the dishes are really good and some are so so. They do have lots of soup choices. They got some Chinese herbal soup, hot and sour, egg flower and seafood soup (it's really good). They also have 2 Chinese dessert soup (taro with tapioca and white fungus with goji berries). Food wise, my favorite is the frog legs( it's slightly spicy), chicken wings and bacon linguini. The linguini is surprisingly good and even better than some pasta restaurants. They also have about 6 dim sum there but most of them are some kind of buns. There's a noodle station that they can make a bowl of soup noodles for you. Sushi on the other hand they have lots of choices. But I'm so full I couldn't eat any. They also got sashimi. But they cut them so thin and small that affected the texture a bit. I give Kumi a "basic" 3 stars. It wasn't terrible, but I don't see myself going back. Pros: I think $27 per person is a pretty good price if you're going hungry & get to enjoy a large variety of options they have. Service was good, even when it was super busy. They seem to have a very good system & people taking the organization of things seriously. Chow mien was good, egg drop soup was good Cons: The quality of the food, for me, just isn't something I am itching to come back for. But it's a pretty low price for what you get, so it should be expected. It's not my thing & that's okay. It's busy. There's people everywhere..tons of customers, lots of kids, & staff pushing carts everywhere. Tables are completely full. Good for them, but something to note if you're looking for something calm. The cake offerings were all extremely dry & the mashed potatoes were shockingly bad. Overall: I pretty much knew what to expect but my husband wanted to go. Unsurprisingly it's exactly what I imagined. Again, just not my thing, BUT they're doing it pretty well & it's a good choice if you want variety. read more

I seem to remember this being a janky buffet In the 90's but no longer. It's a really nice Asian buffet with an incredible array of food choices like Sushi, variety of soups, dim sum items, hot foods, salad bar, dessert items, etc. i was very impressed with the quality. While the price is steep for lunch, it ended up being my breakfast and lunch! This is not your crappy buffet with wilting unappetizing items. Don't freak out by the signs. They don't like food waste and will charge you for it. Good for them! And, don't stay all day either. Two hour time limit. Move on! read more

Have been going to kumis for years, but the last two times have been awful. There are a couple good dishes that tasted good because they were fresh, but most of the foods were old, cold, covered in gelatinous "gravy," the sushi was mostly a slurry of ground fish mash in 85% of the choices. The pizza crust was hard, the fries dried out. The desserts were ok. Definitely not worth $30 per person. My daughter could only stomach the jello, and my son couldn't eat he thought it looked gross. We had the worst buffet in this Chinese with Japanese name buffet. If you consider quantity is your focus on foods, then are ok for food junkies. If you can't do it right, don't do it at all. Greeted by a begging woman with her child at the front door. Not very much in the way of variety for food. $26.99 buffet fried rice was very bland, decent pot stickers and General Tso's Chicken other food not so good. Please leave before 2 hours or they will charge more. They will also charge more if you "waste" food. It's kinda difficult to tip when you do buffet because you don't order and you bump elbows with other patrons to get your food. First off, do not go here if you are not Asian - more so if you are black and are young (high schoolers). They discriminate and scam. My little sister and her friend (who is black) went into eat. When it was time to pay her friend paid, however they came back and was like: "your card got denied and it didn't go through. your missing .24 cents." However she checked and she has sufficient funds and the transaction was pending on her end. They then asked why is it showing as pending if it is declined, they said they don't know but they need to pay the bill before they can leave. They tried explaining to the workers that the transaction is pending on their end when they check but they refused to listen. They could pay the .24 cents with another card but they don't have cash but it seemed like they only wanted cash. They only have two cards, my sister's card and her friends card that "declined". At this point her friend feels discriminated and embarrassed and is crying because she felt like they aren't listening. When my sister realizes there isn't else they can do so she got up to go to the front to pay instead of her friend paying for her since it was her bday dinner. When she got up, she heard them talking amongst each other saying to watch out for them in case they dine and dash. When they saw her, they were surprised and started moving towards the door but stopped when they realized she is paying. She ended up paying, which another pending charge on her card right now, and they left. No apologies or anything from them. Now we have two pending charges, one which is suppose to be "declined". Going to give it a few more business days to see if the initial transaction clears. It was suppose to be a bday dinner for my sister but instead they left feeling embarrassed and ashamed of how they were treated. read more

Restaurants is dirty. Uncomfortable. Especially with signs sayings you have 2 hours to get and get our get charged a fee, then an excessive food fee as well. Further, you cannot eat in peace or enjoy visit as the Asian people are having feet up at front counter relaxing or they hover around d your table glaring at you. What sets this place apart from other Chinese buffet places is Kumi has a noodle section (pho and udon) and a steak section. This place is also slightly more expensive than Super King but Kumi also has stuff that Super King doesn't. Seafood is always gone very fast and replenishment takes some time. I am not a fan of their seafood but everyone seems to go crazy about it. Yea seafood can be expensive and if you want to get your money back you will have to eat lots of seafood. But what's the point if those seafood don't taste good? I prefer their steaks. For their noodle, you can also customize it by putting udon in pho broth and so on. read more

Our family frequents local buffets in the area. I will critique each of them. Kumi's is a convenient stop because we live close by. We enjoy all of the buffets because they all serve similar dishes and are different in minimal ways. But there are specific reasons we like each. Kumi's has an excellent dessert station. I also enjoy the meat station where they have prime rib, lamb and turkey. Their fruits selections are good too in the salad bar. The food is 4 stars, the service is 3 stars. They had the nerve to sit 8 of us in a booth for 4 people. I found that offensive, but once we got seated in a more comfortable area, the food was fine.
