There is better hotpot elsewhere. This place doesn't really stand out to me hotpot wise, there are other contenders with higher quality and consistent food quality. I love that it's a ma and pop but as an Asian person who eats this often I'm just a bit disappointed. Most of the stuff here is Ala carte and that can easily add up quickly. They do have combos for 2 at $30-39 but you're limited to certain cuts of meat. For most AYCE places you can spend $30 and have an abundance of food and options. I spent $53 here and was super limited to meat and a few basic veggies. Even with other places offering higher cut meat the prices here fall in comparison. Portions are also very small even at Ala Carte. Veggies add up quickly at $7 for an order. Another big gripe is that the broth here is super under seasoned and just lack luster for what hotpot actually is. I found myself having to use more sauce, also not happy having to pay for more. Ventilation is poor here so expect to leave sweating a bit. I likely will stick to other places but at least I tried this place out. read more

Came on a Sunday around 3:30pm, super busy. We weren't acknowledged for 15 mins. We were sat & it took another 10 mins before our order was taken. Seems to be just 2 younger girls that I assume are family to the owner, waitressing so we were patient. Pretty small space, it was very humid inside since it every table was full & cooking. Doesn't seem to be the best ventilation in the building to help suck all the steam from the boiling hot pot. Food was good, well priced. We did the hot pot for two and added an order of lamb. Only note I have is the broth is a little underwhelming & could use some salt. Overall, OK service, be patient, staff is nice, just seem a little slow. Space is clean looking for the most part. Quality ingredients but sup par broth made me wanting more. & everything is priced à la carte so if u want a big variety of meats/veggies it can get pricey fast. I'd recommend groups of 3-4 so you can get a good mix. I'll start w/ the good: - Homemade shrimp balls: probly my favorite thing we ate. Fresh & plump - Meat was very good quality nicely thin sliced (we got ribeye/lamb) & tender. - king oyster mushrooms good Now not so good: - Broth was the biggest disappointment, very thin & 1 note. We got half n half spicy/regular and they didn't have much flavor. The spicy one was just filled with pepper flakes w/ no other discernible taste. Without good broth even quality ingredients make for a subpar hotpot. Basically I felt every bite no matter the combination of sauces/broths was lacking in flavor. - Taro root: I hadn't tried this but it came out big slabs tasting like less flavorful yams but more chalky/crumbly texture. Food was delicious. I'm gluten free so I just ate the rice noodles, and my friend waited until the end to have the glutinous noodles. Everything was fresh and tasty. You mark off what you want with a dry erase pen. Service was attentive. I would probably do a veggie only next time just because I really enjoyed the mushrooms and such more than the meat, but the meat was good. $55 with tip for 2 people and all of this food we could barely finish. read more

There are not many hotpot places in Portland (or if there are, someone let meh know), but this place is wonderful. Intimate, casual and fun. It's pretty bare bones as far as decor, but we're here for the food! Staff is so gracious and happy to see you--but it is again, small and not a big staff, so if here at a peak time, just relax and it may take a moment, but there are great at scanning and they will be there, don't you worry. Small beverage selection, but they do offer non and alcohol beverages. Beer and sake as well as tea and sodas. The combo for 2 is a great deal at $38.95 and is plenty for 2 people, without extras, but adding a few things is always fun, especially seafood, potatoes and their other noodle selections (prices range but all reasonable). We were 3 and got the combo, lamb, seafood combo, potatoes, potato noodles, mushroom combo, fried rice and calamari. Way too much! But, I make hot pot at home and it was enough to take home raw and have a whole other meal for 2. So for around $140 (with 2 drinks per person) was a great deal. Especially because of the extra food. Broths are great, both meat based and veggie. There really is something for everyone here, and again, not maybe what you might expect if you live in a hot pot forward city, (no sauce bar or AYCE), this little gem is a great place for a weeknight, celebration meal or date. read more

I hate to write this about a small business, but this place was downright awful. As a Chinese person, I have no clue how they missed the mark so badly. There was no waitlist for the first 45min I waited and everyone was going by honor code to be seated, then they finally brought out a notepad to take names. While waiting, I noticed the ceiling vents had a lot of condensation gathered on them. This place had no legit ventilation system. Think of it as a restaurant ran out of someone's living room- I'm not sure if this building is up to code. My standards were very low by the time I was seated, and yet this place failed to meet the bar. My seat was under another vent, and of course, I got rained on the whole time. Several cups and bowls were dirty. The food was sadly another disappointment. The ribeye beef was so tough to chew, including the red meat part. The lamb was alright and had a better texture but gamey flavor. The broth is not rich nor flavorful at all. I couldn't even mess hotpot up this badly at home. I went here for my first time last night and had a good experience. I have only been to a few hot pots restaurants but thought this place is pretty solid. We got the hot pot for 2 and added some additional items, like emoji mushrooms and dumplings. The spicy broth was good and though it wasn't very spicy, it had good flavor. I liked the dipping sauces it came with, there was a garlic soy, a peanut and of course my favorite which was hot chili oil. The price was worth it for how much food we got, we didn't finish it all so we took it home. Decided to take it raw instead of cook it then bag it up. Not sure if that's what most people do or not? Like I said earlier, I've only been to hot pot restaurants a few times, so I still feel like a newbie. read more

came here after seeing glowing reviews on yelp and a video from the koreanmama. unfortunately, this place was horrible. when I walked in, I noticed a dank smell probably due to the poor ventilation. water was dripping off the vents onto my friends and into their food which was a major concern. when we got seated the chairs were awfully uncomfortable. usually I wouldn't complain about chairs but the chairs were unbelievably stiff. cups and plates were still dirty. selection of ingredients was adequate. we ordered half spicy and half normal broth and both were not good. neither of the two had flavor and had a weird off putting after taste. the spicy one just tasted like spicy floating around in water. the meat was cheap but you get what you pay for. the lamb was actually the best and pretty good. the pork had a weird taste and the beef was tough and didn't look appetizing. veggies however were fresh and were good. Normally when I got to hot pot places the broth is just too salty or heavy but this broth was really lite and palatable. After the meal I didn't feel heavy or bloated. I liked the bean curd sheet, quail egg, oyster mushroom, enoki mushrooms, vermicelli noodles. The chicken meatball was okay, but I could've gone without it. I also really liked the dipping sauces they gave us, if I remember correctly it was black vinegar, sesame sauce, and chili oil. Ambience: - This place is kind of a hidden gem tucked away in the back of a parking lot off Division - The décor gives off a small family business vibe - Lots of red furniture covers and old ancient antique style wooden panes Overall: I liked this place. Great dining experience! We came in on a Thursday night and was sat immediately with only one other table occupied. There seemed to be only one waitress busting her butt to keep us happy and fed but she did a great job! We explained it was our first time trying hot pot and she explained everything to us expertly. We ordered the combination for 2 for $35 with the half and half broth. Many people on here complained of small portions but we personally couldn't finish it! The handmade noodles were delicious. The spicy broth is REALLY spicy (trust me I can handle spice and this had me sweating) other than that, a fantastic experience. I also ordered a cucumber salad which was delicious and refreshing. The only thing I wish was different about the experience was maybe more differing flavors. It would be great to have a few different types of sauces. Other than that, a great time! read more

I want to start this review by saying this was probably the worst dining experience of my life. The moment you step foot into the restaurant it feels like you're in a steam room. It's super humid and there's just tons of condensation everywhere, including the floors so be careful! Server said it would take 20 minutes to seat us, no big deal for a Friday night. Then I overhear the group next to us complaining that they'd already been waiting for over an hour when the server originally told them 5 minutes. Yikes! Should have probably walked out the door when I heard that, but my uncle had been wanting to try this place so we waited. Poor server was working the entire restaurant by herself so we tried to be mindful. She sat us within the 20 minute time frame so we were pretty hopeful it would be a good dinner! Boy were we wrong.. She started taking care of the bigger group ahead of us and kind of just left us sitting for 20 minutes before finally taking our order. From there we waited an additional 53 minutes for our first dish to be brought out and 1 hour 17 minutes total for our last dish. There were only 3 tables in the restaurant by then so the wait for food seemed a bit excessive, especially given the fact that none of it is actually cooked beforehand. For 3 people we ordered: Half and Half nourishing and spicy broth: Broths were just okay tasting. Nothing special. Spicy had a good amount of spice but no actual flavor. They charge $3/person for broth. Rib Eye Beef 8oz: There's NO WAY this was 8 ounces.. the beef was super tough and chewy. Definitely not worth $20 for 8oz. Lamb 5oz: Because the lamb slices were on the bigger side, it felt like we got more lamb in our 5oz order than beef in our 8oz order. Lamb was definitely the winner of the night - tender and tasty. Handmade dumplings: These were definitely NOT handmade. They were frozen dumplings from the market. Nothing special about these at all and definitely not worth $11 when I could get a whole bag of these for $5. Handmade noodles: These were also noodles bought from the market. If they're going to charge $6 for "handmade" noodles at least get the better quality ones. Vegetable basket: Very small amount of cabbage, bok choy, and romaine lettuce for $7. Mushroom Basket: also a very minimal amount of mushrooms for $9. Definitely not worth the price. Handmade shrimp balls: These looked and tasted handmade but were made with too much baking soda leaving a very squeaky after thought. Sauces: It says sauces include a sesame sauce, beijing sauce, and spicy sauce (first serving free). We asked for all 3 and it came pre mixed with all 3. Sauce didn't taste like it had sesame or spice in it at all. Asked the server for some chili oil or chili sauce on the side but that never made an appearance. It did, however, make an appearance on our bill. The bill came out to just under $90 because we didn't want to make a second order and be subjected to another hour plus wait. We came in hungry and left hangry. Ended up going down a few blocks to a local brewery to satiate our hunger. Will most definitely never be back for hot pot! read more

This place is full of surprises but not in a good way. It's possibly one of the worst hotpot place in Portland. I can't believe this place would get anything higher than a 2 star. Its humid and muggy inside with average tasting broth. The bone broth were bland and the hot broth were overly spicy. We ordered "hotpot combination for two" but the amount that came out was not enough for two adults. We left the place still searching for the next meal. $34.95 was the price we expected to pay. Price came out to be $40.95. When we asked about it, they said there is a 6 dollar charge for broths. We were not informed nor written on the combination price that there is a extra charge. I would give this place a 3.5/5. Soup base- the spicy one is just spicy not too flavorful. The non spicy is also not very flavorful. The hot pot is not the super authentic kind since they didn't use coal to heat. The pork dumpling- the pork is too salty but otherwise tasty. The vegetable is ok. Noodles is ok The meat is nice, I like the lamb because it didn't have a lot of lamb game taste. The shrimp balls were good, very fresh. In general, the ingredients are really fresh and good. Truly a hole-in-the-wall kind of place because it's definitely hidden in there. A friend has been raving about this place and been pushing me to try it out, so I finally did. Location is "eh". Tight and limited parking spaces. Visually, the place is like your typical cheaper Chinese restaurant, minus the broken door that they were fixing. Don't expect anything unique here. The food however was good. We came for the hot pot. We split it in half for base and spicy broth. The spicy broth wasn't actually spicy, but tasted better than the non-spicy one. The meats (we ordered all of them) was all great! Vegetables were fresh and paired well with the meats. Dumplings were another star. We had the vermicelli noodles, which also was great for what we had. Service was a bit rushed, but slow, as conflicting as that sounds. Our server (who was also the only one working that night), was in a rush with everyone as expected, but delivery of food was on the slower side (also expected). Not sure how often this is the case for the restaurant, but it was for our case. It's not the best hot pot we've had, but definitely good for the money and we felt like we had an authentic Chinese hot pot taste. I wouldn't mind coming back again if in the area. read more

We went in for lunch and got the 1/2 & 1/2 hot pot for two, with spring rolls and it filled us up. The spicy broth didn't set my miuth on fire, and I was grateful for that. The regular broth could have used a touch more salt, but I blended it with the spicy and got a side of the garlic soy dipping sauce, so it improved the taste quite tremendously.
