Went to a 'grand opening' on 3/1/2025. Not sure of why there was a grand opening when the place was open for business before. It did not go smoothly in my opinion. Myself and a couple others wanted to come and have dinner and drinks in the evening. We got there around 8pm (was not crowded), placed drink orders and the drinks came out fast (almost instantly). I got a lemon drop, but it was on the sour side. Our waitress was very nice. However... we did not get any food until an hour after we placed our order and didn't see anyone else around that ordered their food get theirs either. I ordered buffalo wings and fries that came out overcooked/burned. The manager did offer another item/remake and didn't have me pay for it. I opted not to, but it was nice that he offered. The others I was with liked their food, so maybe just the wings and fries were off that day. The atmosphere was ok. Typical south side environment and they had a couple djs for the opening. I think once the kitchen is better organized (and the bartender/s improve their cocktail skills) it will be a better experience. read more

I haven't posted in a while, but the experience I had with my friends last night at Kulcher necessitates a post. I always love trying new restaurants, and based on other reviews I was very excited to try Kulcher. After having gone, however, I have no idea how this restaurant has (as of the time of this post) over 4 stars on Yelp. The bar area actually had a funky dive bar ambiance, with nice lighting & nice wooden tables, but that was about the only positive part of the restaurant. The back seating area was devoid of that same ambiance - with flashy slot machines & tables with nails sticking out of them. I was initially excited by the large draft list, however they were out of over half the beer options. The cocktail list looked good, but being in the mood for a beer, I was very disappointed in the selection. Now for the real reason I would never go back to Kulcher - the food & service. While I acknowledge that we were seated as a large group, there's no reason it should take over an hour to get drinks served (especially when the drinks ordered were mostly draft beer & wine). Over another hour passed before food was served, and half the table received their food 30 minutes before the rest of us. One of my friends was even told two hours into our meal that they couldn't make what he ordered & that he had to reorder! When I FINALLY got my food, I was served a dish that was almost entirely rice. The shrimp curry came with four shrimp, one cut up baby carrot, and raw potatoes on a mountain of rice that cost $22. No explanation or apologies were given regarding the service, so we were left to expect that this was normal. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Kulcher. What's not to love? Outstanding food, great service, chill vibe and atmosphere! Nestled in the heart of the Southside...Kulcher stands out. It is nestled on a corner with outside seating w/umbrellas for warm summer days. The inside host a full service bar & restaurant seating. I'm writing this review after 3 solid visits. Each dish I've had was delightful American cuisine. Chef David and his staff are excellent in every regard. Service is always upbeat & friendly. Stopped in for some lunch chow with a couple buddies. Good stuff here! Very friendly bartender/server seated us outside and took our orders. The food itself was great - very tasty, large portions...and definately try the Gumbo! That stuff was terrific, and my companions enjoyed a smash burger and some sorta taco with a consomme dip. Kulcher has a large menu but they know flavor. I love that they have some much variety that everyone at the table will find their new favorite. I still rave about the New Orleans rice bowl which tastes like New Orleans through and through and then I got even more excited when the wonderful staff informed us that we could request it without pork. This restaurant was so nice that the chef came out to the table to greet us. The drink menu goes on forever and not everyone knows how to make an Old Fashioned but they absolutely nailed it. I wanted to try this place for some time now and finally did today. The place was nice inside, but empty around 3:30 pm. I was really excited to try the smoked wings because I heard they were good. I ordered them with lemon pepper. They were overcooked, burnt and the seasoning was not good at all. The fries were also overcooked. I got the veggie dumplings which were pretty basic. Service was okay, but we were the only customers and she kind of disappeared for a long time, but she was attentive when she was at the bar. My best friend ordered the brisket grilled cheese and she said the brisket was also overcooked. A to go order of buffalo wings were also overcooked. read more

Food excellent, service excellent and ambiance excellent. I went at lunch time so it wasn't a huge crowd. I choose to sit indoors although they have a lovely outdoor space. My fish sandwich was so well seasoned I didn't need to add anything. The chef came out and spoke with our table, which is a huge plus. The lemonade didn't disappoint either. Cute place, good environment. 26th street marg is pretty good ($12). My friend got the loaded gumbo and she said it was really good. I got the stir fry and had lots of veggies but not sure it was worth the cost. The birria tacos (quesabirria) were delicious! The wings were salty and not spicy at all unfortunately. The staff has always been nice! It's a newish place so I think things will continue to improve. So I would give this place a try! read more

Finally got to try the new restaurant and bar on E Carson! They are located across the street from Emiliano's. The staff were all extremely friendly. The chef even came out after our meal and talked to us. He was super nice! He told us about his smoking process with the meats and all the different ones they make there! For apps, we ordered the Birria Fries. YOU MUST ORDER THESE IF YOU COME HERE! Fresh fries packed with the most juicy braised beef, queso chihuahua, cilantro, and onions. So delicious! For my meal, I ordered the California Rice Bowl. This rice bowl was so flavorful. The rice was topped with pulled chicken, guacamole, tomato salsa,, and Troomy sauce. It was HUGE! I would definitely order it again. My mom got the marg and she loved it. My boyfriend got the smash burger with two beef patties and he said it was super good! The vibe is super chill and casual. It's a great just normal dinner spot or a casual spot to grab drinks with your friends. They also have a great patio area!! But please note the food is not typical plain bar food. So the atmosphere was cool and the service was nice the interaction was good but the food was great I had the Oxtails on top of Mac&Cheese and my girl had the Pittsburgh Salad that was just amazing plus the Strawberry Mint drink was so refreshing and good I made it my new drink whenever I'm in Kulcher that's what I'm going with I would advise everyone to check it out once they get a chance thumbs up. read more

I feel conflicted writing this because I can imagine that they are pretty short staffed and that some of their biggest issues could be solved with more cooked/services, but my experience was just so bad. We waited over an hour for drinks, then another hour for our food. Some dishes came out cold, some hot, others came out so long after most of the other dishes were already served. Some of our friends seemed to like their food, but the burger I got was burnt to hell and was cold. The staff wasn't necessarily rude but they weren't welcoming or helpful in any sense. We went to this place after our flight and it filled me up. Very good over all. We went in a little early and it was dead. Food came out quick I got the smash burger definitely worth it was very tasty the bacon was also perfect and the fries were well seasoned. Absolutely delicious, I tried about 4 different things off the menu and everything was good. And it was great service and great atmosphere.

My wife and I were visiting family in Pittsburgh, coming from California, and we stop to get a bite at Kulcher's. Nice place and it was close to where we were going. Terrific food and and the staff was very friendly. Inside was seating to eat with a bar; along with outside patio seating. They said they just recently opened.
