I literally got up to the front cash registers before it even switched from midnight to 1201 and I was refused to even get anything and I'm just overall really disappointed. Like I understand policy is policy, but there was still someone checking out at the self check out, and both of the workers had logged out of their personal registers before that person was even done checking out. I just feel like that is irresponsible. What if there was an issue with the order and from a company perspective that is just really not customer service friendly. I would understand if I got up to the front after closing, but I literally got up there when I was supposed to and I still was not allowed to check out and I was really excited to get those treats for my cat and my dog because I've been working all day and there's literally nowhere else to go. I usually only go to Meijer for doing orders or because it's the only place open late. That's a full grocery store. It is very pricey. I don't feel like it's as cheap as other grocery stores and now that other stores are open till 11. I will just go there because the way that I felt tonight there wasn't even an apology from any of the workers or anything so I don't want to put any more money in this business.

I ordered 3 assorted sandwich platters for pickup at 2pm on October 10th. I called at 12:14pm on October 10th, spoke with the same lady, who confirmed my sandwiches would be ready by 2pm. When i arrived at 2pm, the same lady, who confirmed they would be ready, told me my sandwiches weren't available. No apology, no rushing to make them, no offer to start them, nothing. I convinced them to start the sandwiches while I spoke to a manager. As I was talking to the manager the two girls in the deli were just standing there listening to us. I politely turned around and asked if they could start my sandwiches. One girl went to get to get the bread and the other continued to stand there. Admitting that she confirmed the order and didn't make it with no explanation as to why. The manager was as shocked as i was, she went to the back and came out with 3 sandwich platters. The deli lady said they were for a door dash and they weren't the same sandwiches I ordered. Noticing that my sandwiches weren't going to be made in time, I told the manager I would take them. I'm very disappointed in the customer service I received from the deli. They were in no way busy, when I walked up they were so busy talking they didn't even acknowledge i was standing there. And then to not apologize and rush to make the sandwiches. I was stunned. I left that day with 3 platters of ham, turkey and cheese on a butter roll instead of the assorted sandwiches I ordered. No apology, no discount, not even a have a great day.

After a recent Creative Mornings downtown, I decided to run to Aldi across the bridge. I'd been here over before and recalled that it was large, clean, and fairly well organized (which isn't always the case). I popped over the 2nd St bridge & was there in a flash. Aldi has a ton of organic, whole foods for folks like me who are trying to live a healthier, plant- based life. Almost everything is their brand, like Trader Joe's. They have a commitment to providing loads of non-GMO and organic options. Did I mention I also love their weekly specials? They often have housewares at an amazing price. In the past month, I've snagged a small mandolin cutter, a silicone bento box, a refrigerator organizer .... If you like a deal and are watching you health, check this Aldi out! I may start a pilgrimage to southern Indiana for my Aldi fix as this store and the one in New Albany are some of the best around Louisville.

That may be weird, but I fondly remember my family and I regularly going to a drive-up convenience store in my home town whenever we were on the way to go to a family member's pool. My dad would load up on ice for the coolers, and we would get potato chips or other snacks to munch on in the back seat in the summer heat. So yesterday, I had a few minutes to spare, and I thought I would check out the Farm Store, which just opened, after seeing some segments about it on the news. It's part of a national chain but the first of its kind in Kentucky. Along with the drive-thru, you can walk up to grab convenience items or order ahead via its app. The manager was quick to greet me when I pulled up. The small building is stocked with grocery staples, like milk, bread, pantry items, candy and more. I opted, though, for a breakfast sandwich and a coffee. The breakfast sandwich, which had sausage, egg and cheese on it, reminded me of an Arby's croissant sandwich. The biscuit was flaky, and the sandwich was warm. The coffee also hit the spot. This will such a great option when I'm in need of grocery items but don't want to go into Kroger, like when I have my son and pup in the car. It's a bit dangerous that it's just down the street from my house. I will be back.

No real perishables like fruits or vegetables. An oriental store without fresh bok choy or bean sprouts, etc? Many items available were standard canned water chestnuts, baby corn and various rice vinegars, chili oils, hoisin sauces and the like. Most of which you could find in a standard grocery. I should acknowledge the incredible help from the store "clerk" who patiently explained items and helped us find things that were already staring us in the face, but with non-English labels. Be sure to ask for the homemade kimchi. Outstanding. Now, slide over to the other side of this little store to the restaurant section where you'll find an extremely limited menu. Anna works the kitchen, making everything from scratch. Don't be in a hurry, because Anna doesn't take any shortcuts. Also, it's important to note Anna's Asian isn't your standard "Americanized" Chinese food. It's made Filipino style. I figured LoMein was a good starter-and it was very tasty. But unlike any LoMein I've ever tasted. Different noodles. Different flavoring. Lots of chicken chunks. Tasty. But different. My wife ordered Chop Suey with Shrimp served with a side of steamed rice. Large shrimp, cabbage, carrots & celery in a light sauce. Again, unexpected flavors. My wife loved it. Then another diner suggested something called Lumpia. Huge chunks of pork. Some vegetables in an absolutely delicious broth. I wasn't sure if Lumpia is a soup or a stew. And I didn't care. It was that good. We got our food to go...and we made 3 meals out of our order. So, here's the deal-if you're feeling adventurous and want to try a different style of Asian cooking, hit up Anna's. It's fresh. It's flavorful. And it's "different". If Asian/Chinese is a comfort food and you prefer the traditional style, Anna's might not be for you. But since most items are under $8, take a leap of faith and support this unique small business.
