I've liked going to Menards since moving here a couple months ago, but the customer service is really spotty. There have been a couple stellar employees (you know, the kind that actually ask if you need help finding something). This last time it was especially bad - whatever help we could find was either no help or smart-mouth answers (e.g., my wife wanted another rug from the spot she got one just a few days ago - they were nowhere to be found, and instead of helping in any way, the employee just said "they're obviously sold out"). There are lots of guys on forklifts, but don't pay attention to questions. There are teen employees in obscure aisles flirting with each other rather than helping anyone. There are lots of guys in the building section, but they don't go out past their counter to help anyone. And inventory arrangement is amazing - "tape" is apparently in four different sections in the store. If you want rain gutter parts, an entire aisle is near the insulation, but then a couple more aisles are on the opposite end of the store in plumbing - yes, outdoor drain lines and adapters are in plumbing. Home Depot at least has aisles and bays on their website for each item, Menard's makes you either wander or try to find help somewhere. The worst of it, though, was when we ordered something from the yard. First, you have to go halfway across the store (again) to the building section to get a "ticket" - for some reason, the cashiers at checkout can't help you. We'd been there about 3 hours by that point, and asked if they could call ahead so we didn't have to wait too long in the yard. The cashier just laughed and said no, we'd have to handle it out there. I had about enough of the lack of help by then - so I told her what I thought of their customer service. She apologized for it, but in the meantime another employee (a relatively tall and sturdy-looking male that had very grudgingly helped earlier) , started walking back and forth behind her, and kept swinging what looked a lot like nunchucks from under his arm and back out - repeatedly! He never asked what the problem was, never added anything to the conversation - just performed his little intimidation ritual. Where I can maybe understand a lack of customer service, I can't understand - or accept - a clearly threatening gesture from an employee. In spite of having substantial "rebates" accumulated, I've vowed to never go back there. read more

Menards is a joke will never go back to buy anything from there. Ordered a item they charge for shipping and some type of handling fee as well. I sent email to cancel my order. Get a email back saying they would send a cancellation to whoever. The shipping label was sitting in Menards for 2 days before it ever shipped. Order the item and it was suppose to be delivered the next day. I emailed them back and someone else replied back with the same email that the first person sent me with the request for cancelation. Saying they could not cancel it because the item has shipped. What a Joke. I have emailed them saying I wanted to have a mgr reply back to me which has never happened. Terrible customer service. This review is for an internet pick up order: I would have given one star but the lady at the pick up desk was nice enough. I ordered online and patiently waited for receive my order is ready for picked up. When that never came, I checked the order online and it says it was picked up 3 hours after I purchased. I never picked it up so I assumed it was an error that they just never did the order. I called to make sure I could actually come pick it up and a gentleman said he'd pull the order and place it aside. I get to Menards only to wait 20 minutes to finally receive my knobs. Kay kept looking for them but never found so she had a lady to pull them. I gave them some slack but these are some of the slowest workers around, glad to see no ones in any hurry. Menard's is one of my favorite places to shop. We make the trip here at least once a month from Louisville and over time we've dubbed it Menard's Weekend. First off, if you're looking for it, chances are you'll find it at Menard's. Electronicals? Check. Dog food? Check. Frozen pizza? Check. Household cleansers? Check. Refrigerators? Check. Lumber? Check. Christmas trees? Check. You get the point. It's ALL there. There are even items we find at Menard's that we can't find elsewhere (our favorite dog treats we can only find here.) (That is to say, our DOG'S favorite dog treats we can only find here. We don't eat them, that would be weird.) We bought our swimming pool at Menard's a couple summers ago. This last weekend we bought some brand new Christmas decorations. This store is massive and it's easy to get turned around in the center aisles. The garden center is outstanding during garden center season, and we bought 6 crepe myrtles there which are thriving in our back yard. The staff has always been helpful and I think everybody that works there knows where just about everything is. More often than not they'll take you to what you're looking for instead of casually waving you in the direction you need to go. They almost always have a 11% rebate offer going on, which is great when you go back. Heck, they even have the rebate forms right there at the checkout to make it easy for you. Fill out the form, mail it in with a copy of your receipt, and in a couple weeks you get a rebate form that you'll turn right around and spend in their store. Speaking of money (which we only marginally were), the prices at Menard's a pretty frikkin' reasonable. Like any merchant, prices can be higher or lower on various items, but we find that the prices here are generally lower than other hardware/building supply/general merchandise locations. My only real complaint is that they can be slow to realize that the need to open more registers. On our last visit there were two registers open and the lines were literally 12 to 15 customers deep (I counted). It made me wonder if I was at Walmart or if I was at Menard's. That tends to be the exception and not the rule, so don't that dissuade you from shopping there. If you haven't been to Menard's it's time to give it a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Made the trip from Louisville to Indiana to Menards this Black Friday as the ads and sales were enticing. We decided to wait until early afternoon to head out so we didn't fight the huge crowds and just see if anything we were interested in was available. Upon arrival it was still very crowded however we were shocked to see everything we wanted was still available. That tells me they have a huge stock and we're properly prepared for Black Friday. The atmosphere and setup there is really neat as it is a hardware type place like a Lowe's or Home Depot but It was also a surprise to see they have a grocery store section. The workers were all kind and seemed to be knowledgeable (that is a plus over Home Depot or Lowe's). Recently there was news Menards was coming to Louisville with a location close to my current home. At first hearing the news and not really knowing what Menards was I had no reaction to them building the location. Now I can honestly say I'm excited to see what they have to offer. read more

Look, as a Wisconsinite, I get excited when there are products or stores from my old stomping ground. So, I was quite ecstatic when Menard's opened in Jeffersonville.  Oh, Menard's, I go in with a list of 2 things and come out with 20. A hardware store with food, everything you could possibly need to build a structure, house, a she-shed, remodel a room, etc. I think the paint they carry, Pittsburgh Paint, is one of the best paints I've used second to SW.  I'm not going to lie here - if the prices seem too good to be true, they might be. I've bought some weird stuff here and they didn't work in the slightest.....like a digital HDTV antenna for $5....just no. But I also have a unique sputnik light fixture in my dining room that was a decent price, different, and matched my décor perfect (around $130 I think), and that was a Menard's purchase and it's wonderful! Be smart. Be smart enough to wander into the food isle and treat yourself to some Milwaukee soda aka Sprecher - it's sold in 4 packs, and yes, its $4/pack but it's worth it for the little treat. There's multitudes of flavors and I highly recommend visiting Sprecher if you are ever in Milwaukee; but until then - just grab your soda/pop/fizzy drink with sugar at Menard's.   So today, I visited my grand old Menard's to return a garage light fixture that didn't work. (Spend the extra dough for a better-quality fixture at Menard's and it'll work.) Of course, I went with the cheapest light and I ended up returning it. Live and learn. The employees were helpful and accommodating with the return. Today, by my stroke of luck, I followed my list more or less, & walked to the check-out to pay.  So, their check out is cool because your items hit a conveyer belt after scanning, pay, bag your own stuff - Bing, bang, boom.  My cashier today, pulled one thing out of the cart (you're not really supposed to line up the items on the tiny counter top; but rather pull directly from the cart, scan, conveyer belt)...okay. She pulls another item out, looks at me sighs and rolls her eyes.  Confused and a little offended, I hurried up and lined my items on the counter which is not really Kosher.  I hand her an in-store credit check from my light return (even with receipt, it was past 90 days....c'est la vie).  She scans it and says, "you can't leave, you still owe $12." Right, I understand, I had already put my credit card in the machine.  Grabbed my bags and boogied.  I pulled over (my cart) near the service desk because I realized I had misplaced my Menard's Credit Card in all the commotion. Another customer says, "ma'am" in my direction, I thought maybe I left my card at the pay podium - no. It got weirder. The cashier was yelling "thank you" at me, over and over and over. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. I waved and mentioned this strange ordeal to the customer service person and hurried the h*ll out of there. I like Menard's. Today was one of the stranger visits, but typically it's good. They have 11% off about once a month - they'll send you rebates in Menard's money that never expires, they have good deals, they sell lots of name brand items and lots of Made in the USA items.  Their pet supply selection is very extensive.  Go for a visit when you have some time to peruse. read more

Thursday, 7/18/2024 around 7pm, my boyfriend and I came in to get paint. We went to the paint counter to get help and were greeted by a very disgruntled employee. He was 1, not very helpful, only pointing out "the good vs best" paint options they had and obviously not listening to any direction I was giving. I told him 2 times I wanted egg shell and told him I needed 2 gallons of each of the colors I had picked. He proceeded to mix our colors, but only gave me 1 gallon of each. When I explained I asked for 2 gallons of each color, he told me I didn't say I needed 2, then went on to make the other 2 gallons I asked for with a very terrible attitude. When I got my supplies and paint, I told him thank you, he turned away from me and began to shake his head as if I was a burden to his day. Very disappointed in the customer service. read more

I Had made Menard's my go to store for home supplies until..June 2024. Upon arriving to refill my 20# propane cylinders I was informed that they now charge a $5 per tank fee for refills! I was kind of shocked by this. Guy was nice enough and apologized saying they are trying to end the refills and just do tank swaps. Tractor supply is less than a mile away though and they are happy to fill them at a normal rate as well and U-haul is closer for me anyway. My trips to Menard's will be way less frequent just because of this. read more

On my travels to Ohio to visit family, I have spotted Menards and wondered, "what is that?" My uncle told me it was basically like a Lowes and said they had good deals. When we finally got one close to Louisville, I had to go check it out. My uncle was right it like Lowes, but not all at the same time. It has all the things you would expect at Lowes: Lighting options, plumbing equipment, carpet, windows, gardening center supplies, you get the idea. Then there's the other stuff: groceries, cleaning supplies, linens, organizing units, toys, office supplies. It's all well situated in the store, it's not overwhelming, and somehow it just works. Go through the main door and work your way around. You'll be surprised at what you find and how decent the prices are. When you go to check out, the cashier will take care of things in your cart/basket and ring them up for you.You end up at the other end of the lane bagging your items and then paying at the end of the lane as well. I'll have to go back sometime to see what other interesting things I can find. Definitely check it out. read more

I was super excited for Menards when it first came- it's such a staple of the Midwest. It took several years to complete, and is placed in a little crook of upcoming businesses (right across from Wild Eggs!). The staff, though they don't have the same knowledge that the Home Depot and Lowe's staff do, are very helpful in planning your home improvement right along side you. Menards isn't just a home improvement store, either! Alongside the treated wood and hardware section you can find the grocery and electronics department, it's easy to get lost in here- Menards truly is 'the one stop store'! read more

I get lost here, literally. The place has everything you need. Customer service is great, especially the customer service desk. The store is very clean and organized. You will find whatever you are looking for in this building. I could list a thousand items and there's more. I especially like the lawn and garden section of the store. It's located two football fields on the right side. They have a great selection of plants, shrubs trees and landscaping greenery. Whatever you need for your yard is available. Love the outdoor fountains however they sell out quick. Menards has a great outdoor living section in the store with some really clever outdoor accessories. My only complaint is trying to find something I looked at earlier and decided I'd get it...but where was it? If you make a purchase that's heavy they'll have someone assist you in loading it. Menards is a great store with something for everyone....it's so big! I'd hate to do inventory there! I do recommend you stop by. read more

My husband and I have been to Menards a few times over the past 6-8 months including this past weekend. There's something that just doesn't tickle my fancy about the store. Maybe it's the selection or lack of stock for many of their items. (We needed to purchase additional matching door locks and they only had 3 left. They had some nice terracotta or concrete hollowed out Halloween characters, but only a limited supply and what was left were all damaged.) Maybe it's the silly business of having to deal with rebates rather than simply giving customers the sale prices. I drove an hour to get to this store and was told very rudely that my 10 year old daughter wasn't allowed in the store due to "corporate policy". When I asked about exceptions for single parents, they very rudely told me that it's private property and they could do what they wanted. My money will never go to this company. I was planning on buying a lot of merchandise and spending a lot of money, but I'll shop locally now on. The store was pretty empty and there was no reason to deny anyone to shop there. The website doesn't say anything about the policy until you click on the link, scroll down and read the "pets and children" policy area. I guess they are the same in Menards eyes. Indiana is now in Phase 3 of the reopening plan to allow 75% of retail capacity. Why is this discrimination still happening? read more

This store off Veterans Parkway is a woke joke. They are more obsessed about masks than customer service. I have an idea, be at least knowledgeable and helpful about the products you sell and you might not lose so much business to your competitors, which are right down the street. Try greeting a customer with a "hello" rather than worrying about someone's mask not covering a nasal hair. I always spend to much lol I never heard of Menards until they opened up here in Jeffersonville. I've been a fan of them since they opened up, my husband not so much, he so use to going to HD but he is starting liking them, especially when they were a huge help with us having to redo our roof, part of a wall and siding. They folks in the back of the store where you have to order many things we needed were so helpful and friendly. Almost everything you need can get there, from home improvement to camping. I like to get our Pet food and wild bird seed here also, they are pretty decent on prices plus how can you not love their promotion that is going on most the time 11% cash back. The do also sell many food items which have bought few times, like old fashion soda, to precooked BBQ baby back ribs. I even love their customer support on their CC, anytime we have a issue always greeted nicely and helpful. read more

Lowe's used to be my go to store for home projects. When Menards first opened I was a little put off by it's size and lack of help when looking for something. However over the months I've become more comfortable shopping there, and customer service seems to have improved considerably. As an example, recently I was looking for venting materials to hook up our new range hood. I shopped Lowe's and Home Depot first. Each of the aforementioned had a very minimal selection of vent pipes and accessories. In fact Lowe's only had about 8 feet of product. I went to Menards and they have several aisles of various venting options for multiple applications. Being a novice at venting, I asked a Menards employee for help. He spent at least 30 minutes with me going over all the options for what I was trying to accomplish. I left the store with exactly what I needed which made the installation very easy. Menard's selection of products is unmatched by their competitors. Additionally we like their garden area. For the last several years, every Spring we buy hanging baskets of flowers to hang around our patio. With minimal care, regular watering, the flowers last well in to Fall. Previous years we would buy baskets from Menard's competitors and they would die or look terrible by mid-summer. We occasionally find deals on flavored water and groceries too! read more

The customer service up front is always pleasant, its the getting assistance in the other departments that is bad. If I had to rate the local stores for service in Appliances, its Best Buy first, Lowes, Menard and last is Home Depot. That said, tonight was a major buzzkill-this after having good experience before and talking with their online service people before going in. I would like to let you know what happened tonight when we went in... Not because I had to find someone to even let me order, a kiddo named Pierson who was on his mobile in the cabinet area, one aisle away and not actively engaged with customers and trust me there were several looking- (Now I cant fault a person for being young, he will with time get better but not having a good sales role model to advise that if you don't give the customer good service, someone else will and can... Although I can say I found it ironic that there was a note pad sitting with Notes on it from a training guide that said "The Customer Came Into the Store for A Reason.." A point clearly not driven home here in Appliances.) Not because he said there would be one shipping charge but there were two when he looked and he at least told us that; not because only one item was in the store and the other would have to be ordered 14 days later, and that was ok too we could wait; but because after he walked us back to the delivery area, there was no one working. Now the screen said there were three, but no one was around for quite a while and a customer even went back behind the counter area being nosy..And there was a line. And no one showed up for fifteen minutes...on a Friday. Mind you, I don't wait anywhere if its longer than 15 minutes except at the DMV. However tonight, the Jeff store and Menards company did not get money from us and probably wont for any appliances again. That's about two grand with taxes, delivery and fees, all said and done that the store in Jeffersonville did not get. Go ahead and check it, it was sold by 1688583 but since the kiddo cant check us out, and no one can set it up for delivery and I shouldn't have to chase down a manager to get service, I left because my time appears to be worth more than the discount. read more

During Covid-19 outbreak on 3/25/20 At first I was grateful they were open so I could get dog food and a few other items. The cashier at Menard's rushed me through, trying to make me step up next to the guy in front of me who hadn't cleared out his items yet. Then when I was at the end of the belt where the pay location is, and doing my best to get my stuff to self bag (that's how Menard's is set up - you pay and bag yourself down at the end away from the cashier which is a ridiculous system), he stopped the belt before my items got to me. Then he rushed me to pay, so I did, and he sent three customers down to pay while I was still bagging RIGHT there, and couldn't get around them to grab what was left on the belt so I could get out of there. Was I nice? No. I let him have it while I walked three feet closer to him to grab my stuff that was laying on the idle belt, between two people he was pushing down toward me. I tried to call later to tell the manager what happened and to encourage them to practice physical distance in the store, but they didn't answer the phone. I loathe Menard's and their horrible customer service. One star only because I can't choose zero. read more

Lowes in Louisvile, KY has always been my go-to store. I decided to give Menards a try for the first time just this past weekend. It takes me 15 minutes longer to go to Menards than Lowes. Menards is spot on! I placed an order for a shower, toilet system, and doors at midnight Friday. They sent an email at 8am stating the order was ready for pick-up. I pulled around back and the order was, in fact, ready. The Menards associate helped load it and I was on my way. The store is very clean and well put together inside. It is worth the extra bit of a drive to get good customer service at an organized facility. read more

Alright I've gotta rate 5 stars for my customer service experience I had tonight. I had to return some big items that I was unfamiliar with for my dad. He had a receipt for some stuff, and he didn't for others. The receipt look up machine (?) makes this whole process so easy and simple. And Cindy who was working the return counter also helped to make this process go quickly and smoothly. What seemed like a headache was made so easy and fast with Cindy's help. I was grateful. There were also a few guys who helped load the big items up for me which I appreciated. Thanks to the Menards team for having great attitudes and work ethics. I would definitely recommend shopping at Menards for just about anything Home related. And if you have to return anything it should go just as smoothly for you :) read more

I being a single grandparent with 2 grandkids!!! I was needing supplies so I went to the Jeffersonville, IN location. As I started in to get what I needed to repair things at my house, I was told I could not bring my grandkids with me. I have no one to care for them due to the COVID-19. So when something breaks I have to take them with me. So as I turn around and walk outside, a man with a young boy is leaving Menards with supplies purchased. How can you tell me no, but allow others in there with children. How do you think my grandchildren are going to take this now. They are already in therapy because of abuse. So I can't just leave them with anyone. Now they want answers to why can other children go in but not them. That is discriminating to me. Because he was a man with a boy and I was a female with a girl. If this is the case then you need to police the front door at all times during open hours. Obviously this is not a family business. Because if it was then they would understand single parents with no family around. We can't leave the children with just anyone and we would go to jail for leaving them in a car. I will never shop there again and I will pass this along. This is the worst so called family company I have ever been to. I will take my personal business and my company somewhere else. read more

After today's piss poor experience, we will be choosing to go to Lowe's or Home Depot instead. We had an online order that we placed yesterday. We get to the store, pull around back to the pick up and go in only to be told they couldn't give us a date our order would be ready and could be SEVERAL days. All while multiple employees were standing around doing nothing. They said my husband could go up front and cancel the online order to get it himself. He goes up front and waits in line to cancel the online order. Then gets the items himself, comes back to the back (where we are parked) to be told oh no, you can't check out here, you can pick up your lumber then you'll have to go upfront to check out...(here's the best)..."but we can get your online order for you". No. You can't because you had us cancel it. So now our cart full is in the back of the store, we got our lumber, drove around front. He had to walk to the back of the store to pick up his full cart and go BACK up front to wait in line... yet again. This is completely unacceptable. read more

I have been to menards up in illinois often. This location put those to shame. Always so clean and kept up. From the exterior of the building to the displays. I love sll the displays. Thats what sets it apart from other large hardware stores. You can actually see the items out of the box put together in a nice surrounding.
