Ok, this is a local grocery store here in Jeff, off Wall Street. Ok, it's a little bit of a hit or miss on this grocery store. We have wandered in here for many things that we lacked. It's 2 blocks away from the house. They have a small selection of salad offerings but usually it will do the trick. They have organic and fresh veggies. Apples, oranges and bananas. It's the time of Fall lots of pumpkins! The frozen department is the missing out part. They have meat but it concerns me if it's safe. Usually the cheese is good and the milk . But it's still a hit or miss. Now this is as local as it gets. The store is run by a small town family. All of your grocery needs can be found here. The customer service here is always great. No matter what you can always expect to find what you need from here. read more

With tempered expectations, Olde Towne Grocery serves a part of town with little other grocery shopping. I went specifically for a sale on beef they had promoted on FB. I was concerned the ads might be a bit and switch, but there was plenty of product available. I snared quite a few bargains. And I grilled one of the porterhouse steaks tonight and the quality of the beef was excellent. As for the rest of the store, inventory is limited. Some empty shelves, limited selection, and most items are roughly 50¢ to 1$ more than a chain store. The locals have to pay for the convenience. I found it frustrating that many items weren't clearly priced. Particularly in produce. Also, OTG has its own off street parking lot for convenience. Is this an every day shopper? No. But sale prices provide a great reason to shop. read more

Oh boy. I thought maybe I had walked into a grocery store that was in the process of packing up and moving. Many of the shelves were bare, and what was left on the shelves looked dusty. You know that scene from The Simpsons where Grandpa Simpson walks into a brothel, sees his grandson Bart, turns around and walks back out of the door? I kind of wanted to do one of those numbers upon entering Olde Towne Grocery. But I persisted, because I do love checking out local grocery stores when I'm visiting a new area. This one looked like it could have been so much better, but instead it was sad. Empty grocery shelves just give off a depressing feeling, you know? That said, the items that were on the shelves were arranged neatly, so there's that. There was very little produce, and what was there was just the hardy stuff that lasts a long time, like potatoes and onions. The meat counter did not look like it was in commission anymore. I guess a sparse grocery store in a neighborhood is better than no grocery store, right? read more

No longer has a produce section. Shelves are sparsely stocked. The meat is really good.....when they have any selection. Now offering a 10% discount if you give them 5 stars, but I give 5 stars to businesses that earn them. Opening a second store in Elizabethtown KY but only wish they could take care of this store first. A shame what it has become. WAS a great place to shop and is the only grocer in downtown Jeffersonville. Used to do all my shopping there but now it's impossible to do. Can NEVER find all we need there. They do have expired Little Debbies for cheap.... read more

Oh Olde Towne Grocery...I have lived in Jeffersonville for quite some time and Olde Towne has been a neighborhood staple for grocery stores, unfortunately. Olde Towne is old and it shows, the building has not withstood father time. The floors are cracked and it has a uniquely unpleasant smell. The service is hit or miss. Either, you will receive an extremely enthusiastic cashier or the one I received today, who did not say one word or make eye contact. Listen, this place is extremely convenient because it is the ONLY grocery store in downtown Jeffersonville. It is also on my way home from work, so if I need to pick up something real quick, I can just pop in and back out. However, Olde Towne is not EVER my first choice for groceries. read more

I have been going to this SMALL grocery for years. I often ditch the car and shop in the Jeffersonville downtown area on foot, making this establishment convenient. I have watched this little gem spiral downwards for the last 3-4 years. Formerly this grocery had excellent deli meats and butcher. It was so good the local river barges would stop to replenish. They do not stop anymore. In fact they no longer have a viable deli counter. Understandably over the past few years supply chain difficulties added problems to keep stock for independent groceries. Time has passed - that shelves should no longer be completely empty. That was the case today in their factory deli meats area. It was completely empty. That is a sign this business does not pay their suppliers or their limited cold cases are not maintained. Either way it's a sign of under capitalization and usually short cuts in sanitary conditions. I spend probably a couple hundred dollars on average monthly at this place. Today's experience was my final visit. As mentioned, I walk to shop. Today was no different than many times in the past. I was carrying a small Walgreens bag with merchandise. Like shops in dirty urban areas or near schools that fear multiple thieves, this place has had policy of no back packs or duffel bags in the store. Hadji told me I could not bring my grocery bag with $50 in merchandise into the store. I would have to leave it up front where I suppose the thieves they fear could have their way with my belongings. Sorry, never before and never again! I am done with this place. If their security is so poor, then it's probably not the place I should be shopping anyway. Good luck Hadji. read more

Just like the other reviews, I've lived in Jeff for decades and depended on this store. Not a problem until it became "Cash Saver". Straight to hell. 2 or 3 years without a frozen food section because nobody seemed to have the mental/ethical fortitude to repair broken freezers. Finally got that fixed and now they've found a new way to suck. Over half of the shelves are bare. Been that way for weeks. When I asked was told it's because it's the holiday season. I can't believe she could even say that with a straight face. Not only are they out of 60% of the products they regularly carried for 20 years but they have the world's slowest cashier. The new crack management teams sits in the office, clicking on their phones while 10 or 12 people pile up at the register. Don't. Give. A. Damn. It's a crime these people even get a paycheck. Screwing everybody over by not doing a damn thing. Where can I get a job like that? I hope karma catches up to them some day but mostley I hope downtown Jeff can someday have a competent, functioning grocery store again. read more

Great store. Best meet prices in town. They do add 10% to you final bill at check out so be sure the price reflects the best price you can get. This store has been around forever in Jeffersonville and is a local staple. That staff gets to know you and knows what you like. Some of the staff is friendly. But some of the new staff needs to stay off their cell phones...but that is a younger generation. Music is the best too! You will find yourself singing in the aisles. read more

I have lived in the area under a month, but I have sent my children there with a list numerous times so far. They've been able to find just about everything I've asked them to get and the final bill is always better than I expected once they give me the receipt. This place is walking distance so I love it. I would love it more if there was more choices in the produce section, but I'll deal with that based on the convenience of it alone. There seemed to be plenty of meat selections though. read more

I usually have a pretty good experience here at this little, convenient neighborhood grocery. That was definitely not the case this Sunday! I should have known Something was out of the ordinary when I pulled into the parking lot I'm going to see a homeless man digging in the dumpster with his pants around his ankles and no underwear!!! Then half of the stuff there was about to expire! Then I over hear the gentleman in the meat department telling a customer that the meat wasn't USDA, it was from Mexico and it wasn't a good price. Whether or not those statements are true, that is not how you present your product to the customer. Between that and all the things that were going to expire still on the shelf in one week, I don't think this place is going to be here much longer! And then to top it all off I am standing in line at checkout and the cashier "James" spits in the trash can right in front of a couple paying for their groceries! Both of them saw it and looked at each other quickly in disgust, as if they both said to one another, "We won't shop here again!" Then he messed something up with their receipt, had to call a manager and fix it and then proceeded to be very rude everyone else while I was there! I really hate to give them one star because I liked the store, but unfortunately, I can never shop here again!! read more

Old Town has the best selections of fresh meat and I can buy fresh greens buy the case. They will special order meat if requested.

I live right down the road from this grocery, so it's my go to place when I have to grab a couple things. There's no way I could could get my full grocery list here. The selection is really spotty, they have most necessities, but I am always surprised by what they don't have. FYI they have no seafood, nothing frozen, fresh or otherwise- not even fish sticks. The frozen section and produce sections are the worst as far as selection and quality. Also, the prices aren't very good. They do have plenty of cheap staples, but if it's not store brand it's overpriced. My number one pet peeve with the store is the service- the cashiers always act miserable and will not speak to you, and they are sloooooooooooooooooooow as all get out. There has never been a time when I stopped in and the lines weren't extending back into the aisles. Oh, the meat section is decent. That's kinda the only saving grace. I'm glad that this place is there when I'm in a bind, but I always dread going, mainly because I know that I'll be spending 20+ minutes buying one or two small items. read more

The staff members are friendly. The prices are great. You will not find fancy things, for the most part, but sometimes I am surprised. Certainly, it is very convenient to those living downtown and great for the staples. I like that they expanded their hours recently. read more

I went here today because I've been here once or twice and noticed how cheap the meat is. I would usually go to Walmart but Im trying to shop at smaller stores. First thing I noticed was how everything in the store is a little more expensive than I would pay at Walmart. Thats fine. The meat is cheap like I said, I got 4 different meats and spent less than $100. What I didn't appreciate was the attitude my cashier had. She did not talk to me the whole time she rang me up, at one point my son spit out a grape on the floor so I asked if she had a trash can and she pointed to one on the floor. Next to her. So now I gotta move my cart and squeeze around this lane so I can throw 1 grape away instead of you holding up the trash can for 0.125 seconds. The only word she said to me was to tell me my total. The other cashier talked to me more than her. I probably won't come back here for my primary shopping needs read more
