The manager and assistant manager were great- they allowed for creativity, but also provided some guidance. We wound up making beautiful wreaths complete with ribbons, pinecones, and several different types of greenery. The manager told me that they were very welcoming of people who didn't know much about plants/plant care and that every so often they offered their customers the ability to exchange cuttings or gardening material (soil, pots, etc). It was clear they were closing up because several rubber plants were heavily discounted. I'm planning to go back since they obviously know what they are doing, and I don't!

Most of the year it's open by appointment only (exceptions exist in that they have periodic open houses), and if you do go, the best signage you can expect en route are a couple very understated "plant sale" yard signs. They do maintain a good website. But clearly most of their effort goes into cultivating native Kentucky plants. In fact, I'm not sure any other nursery in the area can claim the same reputation among the biggest gardening nerds in Louisville. The selection of native plants isn't overwhelming, but it's varied enough to give anyone plenty of options. Lots of sun-loving plants as well as shade-loving, and everything from trees to ground cover. And the grounds are lovely.

This is a small nursery located on a beautiful twisty wooded road in Goshen, KY. It was easy to find and the folks who own and run this nursery are extremely personable and know what they are talking about. Their two big dogs will greet you as you drive onto the property. With the owners help I chose several plants (wish I bought more) for my plot of land. I was told how to plant and how far apart (use a ruler) each plant should be. It was nice to be in such a peaceful atmosphere. If you are looking for "real" Kentucky Native plants you won't go wrong by shopping at Dropseed. This is not your huge BB store, but a small nursery established by people who care about keeping Kentucky's native plants alive.

There's a huge collection of plants, trees and flowers, almost like a botanical garden. There were also some hardy Chicago figs trees and herbs. They had some bulbs, tomatoes and told us more vegetables are coming this week when the weather warms up. I was excited to see munstead lavender and my husband heirloom seeds; we were very pleased to see how affordable they were, not more expensive than anywhere else. This is an absolute hidden gem. I stopped in a week ago for pansies and after seeing how amazing…read moretheir flowers were, I knew this is where I'd be getting the rest of my flowers for the season. There are multiple greenhouses on the property. I came in with a plan of what I needed and of course, ended up leaving with more. From speaking with the owner (Steve) and Mel (who may be the manager?), I learned that they have plans for expansion and they hand grow most, if not all, of their flowers and plants. I haven't seen flowers this beautiful at any of the other big box stores around. All of the employees have been friendly and have had great recommendations for me. I'm trying a few new flowers this year because of these recommendations. I look forward to their expansion/move and will continue to shop here for my landscaping needs.
