I was pleased to see that Cash Saver had opened until I found out that I would have to do math while shopping. I don't mean that I would have to keep a running total (rounded up for good measure) in my head in order to stay within the budget but that I would have to remember to add ten percent to all of the marked prices. That's the schtick here. By presenting you with the "cost" price and boasting that they "add 10% at checkout", they give the impression that they are barely eking out a profit and that you are saving a bundle. It's a great tactic. Everyone wants to save a few dollars these days. But, really, the prices here are no better than anywhere else and the selection is fairly limited (almost no organic stock) and I am pretty sure that I don't have to do any extra math while trying to avoid a shopping cart collision over at Jay-C. Cash Saver is fine for running in to grab a few things that I might need right away but I still need to make a longer journey to do the serious shopping.

That said, their meat sales are amazing when you can catch them! I can get whole boston butt for $0.99/lb. And whole pork loin for $1.69/lb. I also got a few grade A quality ducks for $2.48/lb. I had never tried cooking duck but for the price, I figured it was worth trying! Their Caro syrup tends to be a great buy. Produce is hit or miss. Sometimes great prices (Kale on sale can be 3 bunches for $1, or 10lb of potatoes for $3) but you have to look over the produce to make sure that you're not getting rotten/wilted. They have a small selection of organic foods and smaller local-taste products and they are oddly placed, like the back aisle by the pizza. The deli food is excellent. Their chicken tenders are some of the best we have had anywhere. The catfish filets can be made fresh and excellent too. Sometimes the customer service in the deli isn't great but I think that they are understaffed and overwhelmed at times. Overall, we do not do the majority of our grocery shopping here, but it's not so limited in selection or overpriced that we skip it for the larger store 7 minutes down the road.

I literally got up to the front cash registers before it even switched from midnight to 1201 and I was refused to even get anything and I'm just overall really disappointed. Like I understand policy is policy, but there was still someone checking out at the self check out, and both of the workers had logged out of their personal registers before that person was even done checking out. I just feel like that is irresponsible. What if there was an issue with the order and from a company perspective that is just really not customer service friendly. I would understand if I got up to the front after closing, but I literally got up there when I was supposed to and I still was not allowed to check out and I was really excited to get those treats for my cat and my dog because I've been working all day and there's literally nowhere else to go. I usually only go to Meijer for doing orders or because it's the only place open late. That's a full grocery store. It is very pricey. I don't feel like it's as cheap as other grocery stores and now that other stores are open till 11. I will just go there because the way that I felt tonight there wasn't even an apology from any of the workers or anything so I don't want to put any more money in this business.

This afternoon, however, is the second time I've had this exact situation occur, and I'm not laughing. They have instituted a liquor store inside the store. I can list on ten fingers why this is not a good idea in my book, but I'm not making their decisions. My number one reason is the reason for my bad reviews. I would give the clerk in the department five stars, but this is not about anything that happened IN the liquor department. She was friendly and efficient, and handed us bright yellow PAID stickers, which we affixed top center on each box. Rather, it's what happened when I attempted to leave the store. The cart stopped hard and fast on the exit door's threshold. When I say "hard and fast", I mean whiplash-hard. It practically pulls an unsuspecting person backward. On top of that, it is embarrassing. I wouldn't steal a loose grape in the bin, but I was made to look like a felon. I went back in, but couldn't find the manager, so I called the store (hands-free) from my car. Another irritation - they build, don't they, when you're already aggravated? - I was on hold for twelve minutes. Finally spoke to the store manager, who did apologize, but his solution was not the greatest. Why should I have to be in charge of exiting the store without anti-theft measures ruining an otherwise wonderful day? It's not the best, but it is a solution: from now on if I return, I must stop at any cash register and ask the clerk to turn off the brake, which is activated automatically at the exit if you don't stop at a register before you leave. Heed my warning review to avoid possible injury if you find yourself just popping in for a bottle of something.

I was impressed by the wide array of meats, frozen and packaged foods, as well as the many gluten-free and no sugar added choices. The wide aisle made getting around other shoppers a breeze. I'm less impressed with their produce department that doesn't seem as well-handled (bruised and broken veggies) or the fact that most of them are required to be purchased in bulk. I don't need 10 onions. Some of the more exciting choices are around for only a limited time, so you can't depend on adding them to your regular menu. Finally, I don't think I've been where there are more than one check out lane open, so busy hours can mean decent lines. The cashiers do their best and its appreciated. I can't believe that I waited nearly a decade when it was right here!

Stopped by the store while I was out doing errands and parked in the designated spot for pickup orders. Voila! My items were brought out in less than 5 minutes. Signage was clearly posted. Online directions and app were easy to understand. Employee was polite and efficient. Nice to know this option is available, especially when I happen to have a time crunch.
