My usual location is Goss Avenue in Louisville, because that's the one that's closest to my house, and I love it! But, recently while having lunch in the area with a friend I decided to run into this Kroger to grab a few items, and y'all! I was blown away! I know, I know.. it's a Kroger. But, I'm a huge food nerd and the grocery is one of my happy places! And this location is super happy! It's really large, the layout is fantastic, they have everything, it's super clean... it was just wonderful! Kroger Pharmacy on State Street, New Albany, is THE ABSOLUTE WORST PHARMACY IN THE WORLD!!! They NEVER have the prescription ready!!! The doctor called in the medication and it STILL wasn't ready over 24 hours later!!! Even though they CALLED saying it was ready, after driving over 45 minutes, it WASN"T!!!!! I am normally very pleased with my experiences at Kroger on State Street in New Albany. Actually, I often leave compliments for extra special service. This afternoon, however, is the second time I've had this exact situation occur, and I'm not laughing. They have instituted a liquor store inside the store. I can list on ten fingers why this is not a good idea in my book, but I'm not making their decisions. My number one reason is the reason for my bad reviews. I would give the clerk in the department five stars, but this is not about anything that happened IN the liquor department. She was friendly and efficient, and handed us bright yellow PAID stickers, which we affixed top center on each box. Rather, it's what happened when I attempted to leave the store. The cart stopped hard and fast on the exit door's threshold. When I say "hard and fast", I mean whiplash-hard. It practically pulls an unsuspecting person backward. On top of that, it is embarrassing. I wouldn't steal a loose grape in the bin, but I was made to look like a felon. I went back in, but couldn't find the manager, so I called the store (hands-free) from my car. Another irritation - they build, don't they, when you're already aggravated? - I was on hold for twelve minutes. Finally spoke to the store manager, who did apologize, but his solution was not the greatest. Why should I have to be in charge of exiting the store without anti-theft measures ruining an otherwise wonderful day? It's not the best, but it is a solution: from now on if I return, I must stop at any cash register and ask the clerk to turn off the brake, which is activated automatically at the exit if you don't stop at a register before you leave. Heed my warning review to avoid possible injury if you find yourself just popping in for a bottle of something. read more

The slowest moving people I've ever seen for medication there's been times when it's taking them days like three or four days to fill a medication after it's been called in. Reading other's reviews I wonder if we were in the same store. We are regular Kroger shoppers, but this store is not our regular location to shop. We happened to be in the area for other business so decided to do our shopping at this location. I'm a little upset with my self for not taking more pictures which would give my review unrefutable evidence! We shopped on a Wednesday late morning. The first thing that struck me was the dingy, dark lighting throughout the store. Next thing, while shopping in the produce department, many items had absolutely no pricing signage. There was a huge display of cantaloupes with no price. I asked a young lady working in produce how much the cantaloupes cost. Her answer: $1.99 honey! When I checked out I was charged $2.99 for the cantaloupe. Next, there was an end cap of Private Selection Cherry Tomatoes. A gentleman working produce was right next to the display. There were two different prices over the tomatoes. I asked which was the correct price. He hollered to another woman working in produce and asked which was the correct price. She stated the 2 for $5 was correct. I took a picture of the 2 for $5 sign. When I checked out I was charged $2.99 for the tomatoes! In the general grocery aisles, there were numerous stretches of empty shelves. I told my wife, the store actually looked like it was closing and Kroger was liquidating their stock. In general, I try to avoid going into this Kroger location, however, I needed to make a grocery run closer to home last week. Set aside the fact that the company decided to cut employee hours and have fewer workers which meant stock blocking aisles, not enough cashiers, etc. What disturbed me the most was the filth, rotting odors and inoperable carts. Smelly trash bags were piled up in the lobby, no sanitizing wipes were available and the majority of the carts were broken. Inside, the lighting was dim and the floors were filthy along with the shelves. Spoiled product was obvious in the meat department. Frankly, I didn't want to touch anything in the store and couldn't get out of there fast enough! read more

I have been a Kroger delivery customer for quite a long while now and I am a Boost member. They just delivered my groceries to the wrong home and they will not re-dispatch my groceries, will only give a refund and a 30-dollar credit. The problem is I am disabled and do not get out of my home so I get my groceries delivered. I get a government check and have paid all my bills, what was left was for the whole month's groceries, and always buy what I need for the month at the first of the month. They will not give my money back for 3-5 days. It is all I had and I am out of groceries. No matter what I said to them they would not transfer me to someone in the US. They said sorry, but in the end, they did not even give me the store credit on my account that they said they would, I have to wait three to five days for the refund and another day for delivery. I am very upset this morning. I will be posting this review to every app I find online line as well as sharing it with my 403 local friends on Facebook and more on Twitter/X, here, and as many more as I can find. read more

For the past three days I've tried calling the pharmacy to correct issues with refills on my pets' medications and NO ONE WILL ANSWER THE PHONE. I've even allowed the phone to ring for 20 minutes straight without an answer. Voicemail isn't an option and this Kroger location at this time is doing a mis-service to people. I've never thought this was the best way to tell a firm that they have severe issues but the pharmacy is pure SHIT. A HELL hole. I was told my meds would be ready on Monday and its now Wednesday and guess what, its still not ready. I will make this review short and sweet: this location is simply epic. The staff are so well trained and professional, even personable, and the design of the store has an old school flair but new school selections. Shopping here is easy, but just walking around to get inside a temperature controlled facility for some exercise on a cold Winter day or a scorching hot Summer day is time well spent as well. This if my favorite of the Kroger locations in Southern Indiana, by far. Parking can be a bit congested during busy hours so consider that when planning your trip. read more

Each day passes with a fainter recollection of fruits and vegetables as far as the eye could see. Even the fields of "organics" were plentiful, though somehow they still lacked broccoli, though I know not how. Massive rows of nuts and beans were available, as the natives say, "In Bulk" through odd dispensing mechanisms. The exhilaration of being showered in dried goods is not to be underestimated, though is apparently highly frowned upon. Early on, we kept ourselves alert with special concoctions from a "Starbucks" and put ourselves to rest with our choice of many an ale or wine. Oh, Elizabeth, if only you could have seen those early days! The horizon was nothing but delightful cheeses, freshly baked breads, meats, and deli selections! Each of us smiled at the thought of our journey as paved with good fortunes! Lo, those days seem as distant as the warmth of your smile. I pray that this letter finds you well and that I may soon be back in your arms. But know that if I do not return, that we availed as best as any could on this day and that misfortune has taken us. I would NOT suggest using this locations Clicklist. I was doing weekly Clicklist orders here for the past year +. Within the last 6 months, I cannot remember a single order that was completed on time, which has caused me to take my business to other grocery chains. Well I made the mistake of placing another order with them. My order was once again not completed ontime (8 am scheduled time, not completed until 3 pm). They were also at least 8+ items they didn't have. I can handle all of that but then I was given obviously rotten and moldy produce. (See pictures). This is gross lack of care and attention, and why is this obviously rotten produce on the shelf to begin with. Unexceptable. Lastly when I called to report this and speak to a manager, I was told there were NO managers at the store and to call back tomorrow. My recommendation to anyone is go somewhere else for your online orders. read more

I've used Kroger's online shopping and delivery a few times since the pandemic. The online shopping experience has been user friendly and with the exception of one time my groceries were delivered as scheduled. The one time they were late it was by an hour, which was understanding and not bad in my opinion. The drivers has been friendly and I felt handled my bags of groceries with care. I thank the employees who handled my groceries at each point in the process. And I thank them for being on the frontlines. read more

Kroger is your typical giant supermarket. This one I must admit is even bigger than most. It's a great place if you want to get everything possible all in one stop. The prices are fine. You'll find some items cheaper at other places and some you won't. For me, a grocery store is all about location. This store is not the one closest to me, so it's not my primary grocery store. If it were, it would be. But unless I move, it's just not going to snag the gold medal. read more

I avoid it like the plague, literally. Only going when I absolutely have to and cannot find what I need at another grocery or smaller Kroger with more employ. The bad - The solo open self-checkout usually has a line extending down the aisle toward the back of the store. The poor, exhausted workers are at wits end. The management and corporate don't seem to want to hire enough people to open additional checkout lanes or even the second or third set of self-checkout that is available. Also- the aisles are full of large carts of Kroger contracted shoppers for pickups and deliveries. Their carts block the aisles. The good - Thankfully the Kroger app works well and you can find location for items without help from a person you. There is always time and someone to commiserate while waiting to check out. I have met many people in the checkout line. The other locations don't seem to have the same management and employee issues of this location. read more

Every time I go to this store there is only 1 cashier lane open. The line to check out has like 20 people in line that zigzags thru the aisles. The self check out lines are the same. It takes so long to check out I will admit that I abandoned my cart once. read more

They are open 24 hours. That's all they really have going for them. It never fails to be crowded and disorganized. I find myself avoiding most of the aisles and making a mental list of things to pick up elsewhere. Prices are average. Produce quality is mediocre. The meat department is fairly decent but it's difficult to get service for specialty cuts. The checkout "experience" defies the laws of physics. It manages to be frantic and slow at the same time and makes me want to pull my hair out. read more

One of the worst shopping experiences of my life. This Kroger quite literally employs crack heads, they are missing teeth, look filthy, and can barely mutter a cohesive sentence. They cannot answer questions, cannot do their jobs, and cannot function. The chagrin one feels when the U-Scan stops working and you turn to see one of them lurking towards you is unmatched. Besides this the shelves are never stocked, you can get some items you're looking for but you will most likely have to make a second trip to Target to get the rest. The shelves are also filthy, the store itself is filthy. The U-Scan lines are always incredibly long, as the store does not have the staff to staff the scanners or the resources to make their U-scans work as expected. The best part is that management has known about these issues for years yet refuses to make changes. Go to other nearby Krogers. read more

Pay close attention to your receipt! We bought coke 6pk because 3 for $12, and we bought 3, but when checked out, it is $5.49/6pk. I thought I could get my money back at customer service, but no, it's closed. I was told to comeback next day, I did. It's closed again! I really don't think it's worth it to drive back to Kroger again and again for less than $5, and then get disappointed and frustrated again! Quite possibly the best grocery experience we've EVER had. My wife and I were visiting New Albany for our son's wedding this past weekend. The first time we went shopping there I thought it was a fluke, no store could have this many wonderful employees in once place. There was a "conductor" (his name is Gus Cunningham) in the middle of the store who knows what that LOST look, looks like. "Hey, what can I help you find?" he asked. We used him as our guide and really thanked him for helping us. Each and every time we encountered someone working in the store they were quick to greet us or ask if they could help. We're shopping for food for a wedding so of course we needed EVERYHING and at one point my wife was in the cheese sectioned and asked a young man with dreadlocks where the summer sausage was. Did he point it out and say over there, did he shrug his shoulder and Isle 2? No, he stopped what he was doing and took her over to where they were. Even while checking out I said thank you "gentlemen" to the two baggers (who were older men). One snickered "gentlemen, you don't really know us, do you" and I responded with an " I just made an assumption" which mad them laugh even more. At the end of one shopping trip I purchased a magazine for my wife only to discover that she already had it. I returned it to the service counter (it was $6) and a nice lady jokingly asked "are you sure you haven't read it" I replied "no, but if the crossword puzzle is filled in I had nothing to do with it!" We both laughed and she gave me a refund without hesitation. Not too many people enjoy grocery shopping but I for one can tell you that I looked forward to shopping there each and every time. NO it wasn't a fluke, we hit that grocery store up at least 5 times while we were there and it was the same experience. We will return again for Thanksgiving and without hesitation we will do our grocery shopping there because I don't want to "check in" a turkey on Southwest airlines. Great employees mean everything to us customers. P.S. we didn't have a loyalty card but that didn't stop them from reaching into a drawer and giving us a discount. read more

This is by far the best Kroger in New Albany (probably all of Southern Indiana). They have a huge section dedicated to organics, a cheese display, lots of fresh produce, a salad bar, and a Starbucks. Throughout the store there are options for whole wheat, gluten free, organic, etc that don't exist in other local Kroger stores. I drive past another Kroger to do my shopping here. My only complaint is the parking lot which is shared with a medium sized shopping center. I've seen several accidents in the lot and always dread that aspect of my shopping trip. read more

24 hours - a definite plus as far as Grocery Stores. Starbucks - considered a plus by many, and the service there is actually pretty top notch. Service elsewhere in the store - nothing spectacular. Real good selection (Their Ice Cream Isle actually .. was impressive). I found the produce when I went above par for a lot of the stores in the area "winter time". It is CROWDED though. Seems to be at anytime I've gone, and the parking lot in this 'mall' as a whole really bites and is downright dangerous at times. read more

The bakery staff are a hot mess! When I asked for U of L colors, she looked at me like I had 3 heads. Worst customer service ever!!!!

A woman had a therapy dog (?) in the natural and organics section (?), the place where you scoop stuff out of containers, and that dog was sniffing the containers every place she stopped. I will never buy anything that a dog has access to, probably 3 feet or lower. It was disgusting. I told a worker in produce, then he told another person, and I think they were laughing about it. Then I told a manager in customer service, none of them did anything! Sad they let people bring dogs in the grocery/produce section, very unsanitary. read more

Just had the absolute worst experience ever at this kroger! The older white security guard is horrible! I'm here almost every day to get Starbucks and lunch for work and the last 2 days there has been this older couple sitting at the Starbucks eating McDonald's but not buying anything and complaining about the homeless people sitting at a completely different area than them (the homeless people have been buying stuff!) the older couple that buy nothing complained to the security guard I mentioned earlier and kicked the very respectful, quiet, paying homeless people! I use to work for a company that took care of the plants outside. They let me go due to this store. The ladies over floral apparently didn't like being there at the store because once I got there and got my list of things to do they would leave not telling me that they were leaving and who I could get to sign my paper, so I emailed my boss told him in detail what had happened and I guess something was said to them about it. The next time these ladies left early I was outside watering the plants waiting for the portable container of water to water the plants by the door. Well over the weekend my boss called me and told me that the management told him that I was being snippy with her floral department. Which I was not. Well the snitch lying happened yet again by these floral ladies. For starters it was quite cold outside and while watering the plants my hands and mostly my fingertips were so cold that they hurt and I had some difficulties watering and moving stuff. I was practically in tears because my hands hurt so bad. But I still pushed on. One of the floral ladies asked me to take these 2 big boxes stacked on top of each outside to put the ferns away. I asked her if there was anyway they could unstack them and while they did that I went out to my car for a break so I told her I was going to my car for a bit while he's unstacking the boxes. Apparently I wasn't supposed to take a break according to the management of Kroger. I went back in and was told that there were 4 boxes to put away all well and good. I asked her if it was while ok if I went and took care of the Jeff Kroger then come back later that day to put ferns out she said ok. Well I get a call from my boss because the management messaged him told him that I left and told them that I was going to Jeff Kroger and would take care of the ferns tomorrow which if you look back I never said anything like that. So I get there and there was no one to be found in floral when I got there. I went on outside to get some benching for the plants which was not put together very well. Long story short I get the ferns all out and left little after 5. These 2 ladies couldn't get past their problems there so they figured they would lie and get me into trouble. My boss told me that he was talking with the management and that there were too many inconsistencies. I was honest with him but he didn't believe that. From the looks of things I don't think they really wanted to hire me to begin with and he was scared of the big manager. He was kissing her ass. Im sorry but I don't kiss ass for no one. If an employer doesn't like it well they apparently get what they want and they will never be happy with anything anyone does. read more
