This company is the model the Walton's used to create Walmart. Think of it as Walmart with less Satan. They have a good selection of groceries, decent values, and their non-food merchandise is pretty okay. I don't have a need for much beyond food so I don't venture outside the grocery department often. I have rarely needed something and not found it there, though, and their prices aren't that bad for every day items. They do have a rewards program that evades my comprehension. What I like most about Meijer is that they have wide, wide aisles so you don't have to wait for someone to move so you can move. I can think of an Ohio based grocery chain where this is a consistent issue for me. They also have a decent deli and butcher. It will never, ever be as exciting to me as a small local place but most of the people I cook for (just me) aren't worth the trip across town for every day stuff. For transparency's sake: I worked here during the summer when I was at University and for two years after I graduated. I was at this store when it opened one million years ago BUT I know one person who still works here.

This is my primary grocery store. It is typically mostly clean. The staff are always friendly. The produce is normally the best quality that I find in this area for pretty competitive prices. The only places I normally find with better quality are specialty produce shops that have significantly higher prices. If you have mperks they have coupons for lots of items, occasionally including their precut fruits and veggies. Their meat department is always well stocked and staffed as well

Can't beat that. Got my turkey.

The only reason I am writing a review on Meijer's is because I love the fact that not only are they minutes away from me, but they have eggs for .49 cents. To me that is a serious bargain since I eat alot of egg whites through the week.

Ordered a cake here about two years ago. After a horrible experience with a local bakery this past weekend. I felt I needed to leave a review about Meijer Bakery. I've ordered cakes from another bakery several years in a row, went to Meijer for this cake and regret not going this time. I had a very specific request and went to talk to the bakery. They, without hesitation, said absolutely not a problem. My son is a scuba diver and he wanted a cake with a scuba diver on it. Jason, who works in the bakery department, is very talented and did a wonderful job on my sons cake. I gave him a picture to go by and it was exactly like the pic. I was in awe on how wonderful it looked. Highly recommend and will use him and Meijer for all future cake orders.

    Floral department.

Lots of out of date groceries at the Preston store. Have had to take things back or throw away.

Great curbside. Better than average produce selection. Nice and spacious inside if you absolutely must go in.

If it wasn't for the store manager, I'd give a higher rating. Not a customer service oriented person.

Usually good customer service. Once in a blue moon you'll get someone that's not as helpful as you'd like. Prices are are about average.

At Webb's you can get your dry goods, but otherwise it's a very pleasant departure from that model. First and foremost, there is the deli counter in back and the lunch patio. They serve both breakfast sandwiches as well as deli sandwiches. If you pick up your breakfast or lunch to-go, they make everything to order and it's always very quick. Deli smoked sausage sandwich? $2. Country fried steak sandwich? $3. Biscuits 69 cents. Hot wings, beans, chili, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, cornbread. Want a can of beer with your lunch? That's $1. Webb's is also reasonably stocked with decent produce, which is great since there is no supermarket in Phoenix Hill. So if you want to pick up a couple of tomatoes or onions or bell peppers, you generally can count on getting them here. Webb's received a federal grant to provide equipment and support to carrying healthy items as part of the city's "Healthy in a Hurry" program, and this is the result. (The last time I looked in the produce section, they did have a bunch of girl scout cookies stuffed in there as well, but hey, you need to wash down that lettuce with something, no?)

For TWO DOLLARS (yes kids, not a typo) you can get yourself lunch. You will want to pony up an extra dollar though, for cheese (50 cents) and "dressing" i.e. lettuce, tomato, mayo, etc (50 cents). Still, even with chips and a drink, that's a five buck lunch. And where can you get that kind of a deal anymore?? I got a turkey sandwich, with american cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mustard on wheat bread. And I'll tell ya, its nothing sophisticated but it was pretty darn good. I would definitely come back - they had fried chicken and fried cod that looked delicious! Oh one other thing - Webb's does accept credit cards, but you need to have at least a ten dollar purchase, otherwise they add 25 cents onto your bill. Maybe you care about that, maybe not. Just thought I would put it out there.

I was concerned the ads might be a bit and switch, but there was plenty of product available. I snared quite a few bargains. And I grilled one of the porterhouse steaks tonight and the quality of the beef was excellent. As for the rest of the store, inventory is limited. Some empty shelves, limited selection, and most items are roughly 50¢ to 1$ more than a chain store. The locals have to pay for the convenience. I found it frustrating that many items weren't clearly priced. Particularly in produce. Also, OTG has its own off street parking lot for convenience. Is this an every day shopper? No. But sale prices provide a great reason to shop.

You know that scene from The Simpsons where Grandpa Simpson walks into a brothel, sees his grandson Bart, turns around and walks back out of the door? I kind of wanted to do one of those numbers upon entering Olde Towne Grocery. But I persisted, because I do love checking out local grocery stores when I'm visiting a new area. This one looked like it could have been so much better, but instead it was sad. Empty grocery shelves just give off a depressing feeling, you know? That said, the items that were on the shelves were arranged neatly, so there's that. There was very little produce, and what was there was just the hardy stuff that lasts a long time, like potatoes and onions. The meat counter did not look like it was in commission anymore. I guess a sparse grocery store in a neighborhood is better than no grocery store, right?
