I've really wrestled with writing this review. So much to love. And yet, so much unfulfilled potential. The "store" section is very limited. No real perishables like fruits or vegetables. An oriental store without fresh bok choy or bean sprouts, etc? Many items available were standard canned water chestnuts, baby corn and various rice vinegars, chili oils, hoisin sauces and the like. Most of which you could find in a standard grocery. I should acknowledge the incredible help from the store "clerk" who patiently explained items and helped us find things that were already staring us in the face, but with non-English labels. Be sure to ask for the homemade kimchi. Outstanding. Now, slide over to the other side of this little store to the restaurant section where you'll find an extremely limited menu. Anna works the kitchen, making everything from scratch. Don't be in a hurry, because Anna doesn't take any shortcuts. Also, it's important to note Anna's Asian isn't your standard "Americanized" Chinese food. It's made Filipino style. I figured LoMein was a good starter-and it was very tasty. But unlike any LoMein I've ever tasted. Different noodles. Different flavoring. Lots of chicken chunks. Tasty. But different. My wife ordered Chop Suey with Shrimp served with a side of steamed rice. Large shrimp, cabbage, carrots & celery in a light sauce. Again, unexpected flavors. My wife loved it. Then another diner suggested something called Lumpia. Huge chunks of pork. Some vegetables in an absolutely delicious broth. I wasn't sure if Lumpia is a soup or a stew. And I didn't care. It was that good. We got our food to go...and we made 3 meals out of our order. So, here's the deal-if you're feeling adventurous and want to try a different style of Asian cooking, hit up Anna's. It's fresh. It's flavorful. And it's "different". If Asian/Chinese is a comfort food and you prefer the traditional style, Anna's might not be for you. But since most items are under $8, take a leap of faith and support this unique small business. read more

While it might be a little hard to find the store based on Google maps it is an absolute pleasure to go here. It's just like any type of family run grocery store! It had absolutely everything I needed and in extremely large quantities as well! An extremely large bottle of oyster sauce for the same price at what a small bottle would be at Krogers! Everything was extremely well priced and the selection was great! It's such a small cute store to have such a great selection! And Anna is such a sweat lady who is extremely welcoming and is just a joy to be around! Im coming back 100% when I need anything from eastern Asia as not only is the atmosphere completely welcoming but the prices are great too! 10/10 recommend! read more

Go to Anna's and get Asian or Pacific Islander food and be happy. This store has Asian food made to order, such as "lumpia" the Filipino egg rolls and "pansit" the stir fried noodles that Asians are craving for. I forgot to take pictures, but this little store will suffice for something close.We moved from a big city, so we are used to large Filipino grocery stores with many options.We didn't try the food here but got some snacks and pancit canton stove top noodles(better than ramen). There are only 3 aisles, and a small freezer section.We got chips, a few treats, and vina cafe coffee which was $7.There was a large pack of Kopiko coffee for $17, and it was almost as big as a sky flakes box.Service was good.The Lola in there was very nice and sweet.I didn't see any other staff while I was there.The ambiance was a standard small grocery store look.No special decor or style. I'll be back to get Filipino snacks and coffee when we just want to get something quick and close. read more

We just discovered Anna's, but we will be regular customers. The food is delicious! We ordered lumpia, pancit, pork fried rice and beef and broccoli to go. For starters, the lumpia was crisp and tasty. The pancit and pork fried rice was flavorful and the pork was tender. The helpings are very generous, so I would recommend splitting a dish or being prepared for leftovers. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We're thrilled to have found authentic Filipino food in this area! read more

This small Asian grocery run by two adorable Filipino women is a treat. It is like literally eating in their kitchen. There is only 4 things on the menu so ordering is pretty easy. They both started grabbing things off the shelf and out of the refrigerator and began cooking my lunch. I had noodles with pork and a beef egg roll. I was asked white or yellow noodles. Um... yellow? They ended up being very thin noodles with a nice chew to them. Cabbage carrots and onions with a side of siracha because I asked if they would make it spicy. They were very interested in how I liked everything, if it was spicy enough... I don't make it over the bridge very often but if I do, Anna's is on the list. read more

"Sweet mystery of life I've finally found youuuuu!!" Ok, maybe breaking out a la Madeline Kahn from Young Frankenstein is a bit over the top but I've been looking for authentic Filipino food in Louisville for quite some time. Sari Sari closed as did a couple other Filipino-style food spots about town and it's really a difficult type of ethnic cuisine to find around Louisville. You may see touches of it in Edward Lee's cuisine or even at places like YangKee Noodle or at Joy Luck but unless there's another place I just don't know about, you're simply not going to find anything more authentic than the Filipino food at Anna's. It is straight up as close to showing up at mom's as I'm likely to find. Anna's is set up as an Oriental grocery, which seems to specialize in Filipino-style foods, however, the grocery isn't the draw. It's the little deli kitchen attached. I now know where I can get chicken or pork adobo with white rice, pancit bihon and lumpia Shanghai without driving the 3 hours to Mom & Dad's. And while I can make most of these dishes myself, I'm a bit too impatient to do it regularly. Plus, if you know anything about Filipino food, you rarely make a dish for one, you make it for 10. Food is cooked by Anna fresh to order, and portion sizes run large with nothing on the menu board over $8. The grocery side is sparse and I'll likely still use Lanceta Trading as my go-to Filipino grocery, but I can still pickup a good soy sauce here. There are a couple tables for seating & a slightly pervasive fish smell but nothing I'm not accustomed to. read more

I recently made a trip to Seattle where there is an abundance of Filipino food, however I didn't have time to satisfy my craving so when I got back I desperately needed some Filipino food. This place makes authentic food and I have absolutely nothing to complain about. There is NOWHERE in Louisville to get Filipino food so I'm glad this is just across the river. The pork Adobo was 20 stars, just the right amount of apple vinegar and the pork was so frick'n tender and juicy. The pancit was amazing and the portion was so big! This got 50 stars lol. I would drive a few hours for this place if I had to. The owner there is the chef, my food took 20 minutes to cook but it's fresh and it's just as if your mom went back there and whipped up a home made meal. The patience will pay off I promise! I'll be back to try the lumpia, you can also get a whole lechon for $325. I love that you can fulfill your appetite and shop for spices and herbs here. They have a descent amount of oriental merchandise but come here for the food. read more

I met Anna, the owner, very nice lady. Food was cooked to order, worth the wait. They have little groceries for your basic cooking needs. I also bought homemade frozen lumpia, they sell it by pieces, so worth it compare to prepackaged commercial lumpia. read more

I absolutely loved this place. It's great home-cooked Filipino food that truly reminds me of home. It's so difficult to find a Filipino restaurant, and this one is a true gem. I recommend Anna's Oriental Store for their "HOMEMADE" Filipino cuisine. Loved their Lumpia (egg roll), Chicken Adobo (chicken soy, vinegar,etc.stew) and yes their Halo-Halo(smoothie). I'll start off by saying my dad is from the Philippines and is a fantastic chef. However, I think Anna has him beat. I got the adobo and rice and it was the best I've ever had. It's a small restaurant inside a Filipino grocery store and has very reasonable prices. I had the chicken adobo and the lumpia. The adobo was pretty simple. Not too flavorful but not too bland. The lumpia was delicious and the dipping sauce it comes with is sweet and vinegary. The selection is okay if you're wanting basic Asian ingredients. Don't forget to look inside all of her refrigerators. read more

Food was great just remember to call ahead of time to order and if you don't know what they have then just go up there and order of the menu and they will cook it. People are very nice. The store is lacking somewhat but i don't think that there is a big enough market for them to stock all the stuff you typically see in asian markets. I will be returning there at least one more time before i move to california. read more
