Burgers are juicy, toppings are fresh and varied, and they really don't take long making them - thus fast offerings - burgers, dogs, fries and shakes! Although Five Guys do offer their regular brand menu and special offerings an admirable daring of having a limited menu in a competitive environment - so they specialize well and do good by it. As an occasional junk food-eater I've over the years dutifully tried everything on Five Guys 's menu quite a few times and love their consistency and quality. So as to make it easy to gauge each of these places, when I do try them, I've devised a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being outright down and dirty nasty, and 5 being the best a fast-food joint can be! I gauge: 1) cleanliness; 2) quality service; 3) product quality and consistency; 4) convenience; 5) accessibility; 6) taste; and 7) the personnel's attitude and customer service level. There was a small mix-up about hot tea (she initially thought they only had cold), but once it was clarified, she brought it out with lemon and honey, which was a thoughtful touch. The food came out hot and fresh thanks to Chef Richard, who gave me the classic "you gonna order or what?" kitchen stare--had me smiling. I ordered pancakes, eggs, and a burger patty instead of pork. Everything hit the spot. The only real issue: my friend was never offered a coffee refill during the full hour we were there, even though he left a tip. That aside, the service was warm, the space was clean, and the early morning atmosphere was surprisingly relaxed. Would definitely return for another off-hours breakfast.
