Krispy Kreme's Hot Light is one of the most beautiful sights that you could see walking around DC after a night out with your friends. Knowing that the donuts inside these doors are hot and fresh is about as comforting as I imagine what it's like to take a nap on a cloud as you float through the sky filled with rainbows. Much to my dismay, the hot glazed donuts at this location pale in comparison to hot light donuts at the other locations. I should have known something was up when the conveyor belt wasn't churning out dozens at a time like they do at one in Alexandria. I guess they stop making them late at night but keep the hot light on while they're still "hot"? My friend was ready to house almost a dozen to himself but I helped him reign it in and we ordered a dozen, hot glazed pillows of sugar. We received slightly warm donuts with grainy, stick-to-your-teeth-sugary glaze. But...I'm telling all of you: you can do better than this (at any other location). When the doughnuts come out hot and fresh and gooey it's so good.. But it's extremely sweet. It's hard for me to eat Krispy Kremes without a giant glass of milk. I give it 3 stars because of the hot and fresh doughnuts they make in front of you. Yuck, my shoes were sticking to the floor. Had a glazed donut that was just okay. My friend had a cream filled and couldn't find the cream. Her husbands cream filled had tons of cream. I just wanted out of there. Attitude needs adjusting. They should take pride in their store and be grateful they have a job. My haiku of the experience.... The hot sign is on. My reward is cold stale sad. Krispy Kreme waste of carbs. Seriously, people, joy should come to those drawn to the hot sign exactly that.....a hot, freshly glazed doughnut that melts in your mouth so fast it's like cotton candy almost. I don't know what was going on here today but I left the location feeling annoyed and without any donuts. I arrived at 11am and was told that there wouldn't be any fresh donuts until 2pm. The two women working there weren't very friendly about the situation and seemed annoyed that I asked about the lack of donuts. The shop was out of most flavors so I was confused as to why a donut shop didn't have any.....donuts. Am I being unreasonable to expect donuts in a donut shop? I'm not a big donut person but I love Krispy Kreme. I decided to get the Pumpkin Cheesecake donut was turned out to be a poor choice because it didn't taste like pumpkin :(. I ALWAYS enjoy having a few donuts from Krispy Kremes, which can really put someone in the right mood. Whenever I get Krispy Kremes I always get a dozen. My favorite part of Krispy Kremes is that the donuts NEVER taste old, they always have that delicious taste and the bread tastes freshly made. When I was having trouble accessing my rewards app, the manager did not fail to help me out. The staff is extremely kind when you walk in, even when you want to switch your choice of donut they do not give you an attitude! I highly recommend this location for any doughnut other than the classic glazed. I'm an avid fan of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and my all-time favorite is the classic glazed doughnut. While the service here is fairly consistent, even near closing time, I was disappointed in the classic glazed doughnuts. I placed an order with Krispy Kreme and the order states it was delivered but I did not receive it. I have contact the delivery company Grubhub who were helpful with at least getting my delivery charges returned. Krispy Kreme did absolutely nothing to assist with it. The GM and the staff at the store were rude and did very little to help. I am still awaiting a refund for my purchase. This is poor customer service. read more

I have a hard time passing up this store, dangerously located at the Dupont South Metro Exit. The donuts aren't as rich and sweet as at Fractured Prune, but they're still delicious in that mass-produced junk food style of deliciousness. The donuts aren't actually made here, but they're glazed here. Tip: Ask the staff "What's hot?" to get the warmest, most freshly glazed flavors that literally melt in your mouth. When I visited, I enjoyed the glazed donuts and the orange juice. The best time to arrive is the when the donuts are freshly coming off the conveyor belt. The worst time to arrive is at the end of the day when some of the donuts have started to harden if they sat on the shelf for long. Overall, I give this place a thumbs up. Krispy Kreme really hit a prime location being situated beside the DuPont Circle metro and DuPont Circle proper. Like other Krispy Kremes, this location has the 'Hot, ready now' sign that has people flock to this beloved donut shop. That is the exact thong that drew my boyfriend and myself in when we were walking in the area. We opted for two traditional glazed donuts and an apple juice totaling out to be $4.04. So, you're looking at about a dollar per yummy, warm, melt in your mouth donut. The calories probably total out more the cost of the donut, but well worth the small indulge. When we came here it was early Sunday night with no line or wait. This location is no stranger to being slammed with patrons wanting to get in on the donut goodness any other time during the day. Seriously I was surprised it wasn't like that when we got here. Make like we did, grab your donut and go to DuPont Circle fountain to people watch. This is a perfectly located donut shop. It's a perfect place to meet as it's right on the Metro stop and there's a covered area in front of it. And there's only ONE in Dupont. The donut guy last night was friendly and had a catchy southern twang which seems to suit donut selling. One alien asked why the donuts were hot! I'm so happy there's a Krispy Kreme right in Dupont Circle. Convenient location -- and it doesn't get better than their basic glazed. They have a light consistency, the just the right amount of sweetness, and never feel heavy afterwards. It's hard to get a doughnut come out this perfect -- but Krispy Kreme never fails to impress! They're also VERY reasonably priced. A dollar for a single doughnut, and $8 for a dozen. That's a steal. It's a great dessert item for after you go out to eat in Dupont. The staff is usually very friendly, but they don't take Discover cards -- which I know many places don't, but I feel like more places increasingly do now. I can't help it. I love Krispy Kreme. I'm not as bad as Charles Barkley and I rarely eat them, but that doesn't mean I don't think they're amazing. This is probably one of the worst ones I've ever been to -mostly because they lie about the "hot now" sign (it's always on)- and it's tiny, but it serves F-n' Krispy Kremes. How bad can it be? I've had Krispy Kremes from grocery stores and still loved them. I remember our cafeteria at Tulane sold them. I don't know how far we actually were from a Mothership, but did I care? Amazing customer service from the owner. I came in to get donuts for a work event this morning intending to use the free dozen glazed donuts coupon. I prepaid for the first dozen online but when I got to the store I was informed that corporate policy is to scam the coupon with an in-store purchase only. Obviously this was incredibly annoying and I got nowhere with corporate after being on the phone for half an hour. I'm sorry Fernando, but I care... On top of having a lethargic staff this place is tiny and looks sketch compared to it's Shady Grove location. I stopped in on a Thursday evening just as office workers were getting off and decided to get an original glazed donut. The donuts in the case didn't look very fresh and I assume that's what Fernando was referring to when he said he didn't care that they don't bake em' in the store. The HOT light was on so I thought they would be pumping out HOT donuts on the conveyer, but no I had to wait about 5 minutes for a real HOT one. I've tasted the difference between a HOT one and a cooled one, so I chose to wait. The donut I got was greasy and over glazed. If you've ever had a fresh original glazed donut from a real Krispy Kreme (that is designed to actually fry and glaze its donuts throughout the day within the store) then you will know that what you are getting at this Krispy Kreme is not the real deal. If you think Krispy Kreme in Dupont is good...you seriously need to try the donuts from the one in Shady Grove. One original glazed is not enough when it's HOT from there. The HOT one I got at this location was not appetizing at all. Your kids will love the Kris[y Kreme at Shady Grove. The little girl (boyish/manly looking) at the register on Sunday evening 6/15 around 8PM was not friendly at all, even after I tried having small talk with her; not sure what her problem was. Not expecting you to be super friendly but how about put a smile on your face even if you have to fake it until the customer leaves. Some, and probably most blacks who are in this role seems angry and simply not friendly at all. Not sure what that's all about but when I am spending money, service me with a smile or get put on blast. About the doughnuts we ordered and the man working there said ok then can you bring them by so we can give you a refund. Then we hung up.
