I don't need to say that Krispy Kreme donuts are delicious, everyone knows that. However during the crisis, this store has really upped their game on friendliness and customer service. I felt very much welcomed there and just because of that the likelihood of me visiting again soon. The only critique I have is a corporate issue: redesign your coffee cup lids! I'm not a big donut person but I love Krispy Kreme. I decided to get the Pumpkin Cheesecake donut was turned out to be a poor choice because it didn't taste like pumpkin :(. One of my favorite places for donuts in the USA! I love because they are right off the metro stop and so easy to get to! The freshness is always amazing. My favorite is the classic chocolate glazed. I don't know what was going on here today but I left the location feeling annoyed and without any donuts. I arrived at 11am and was told that there wouldn't be any fresh donuts until 2pm. The two women working there weren't very friendly about the situation and seemed annoyed that I asked about the lack of donuts. The shop was out of most flavors so I was confused as to why a donut shop didn't have any.....donuts. Am I being unreasonable to expect donuts in a donut shop? My haiku of the experience.... The hot sign is on. My reward is cold stale sad. Krispy Kreme waste of carbs. Seriously, people, joy should come to those drawn to the hot sign exactly that.....a hot, freshly glazed doughnut that melts in your mouth so fast it's like cotton candy almost. I ALWAYS enjoy having a few donuts from Krispy Kremes, which can really put someone in the right mood. Whenever I get Krispy Kremes I always get a dozen. My favorite part of Krispy Kremes is that the donuts NEVER taste old, they always have that delicious taste and the bread tastes freshly made. When I was having trouble accessing my rewards app, the manager did not fail to help me out. The staff is extremely kind when you walk in, even when you want to switch your choice of donut they do not give you an attitude! Now understand, I loooove Krispy Kreme doughnuts. A KK glazed doughnut right off the line is the closest thing I think any of us will taste to heaven until we're there. Sweet, warm, and each bite melting into delicious clouds of happiness unlike anything you'll experience anywhere else. But not at this location. I don't care about the homeless guy moldering away in a wheelchair and his own filth just outside the door. I have a hard time passing up this store, dangerously located at the Dupont South Metro Exit. The donuts aren't as rich and sweet as at Fractured Prune, but they're still delicious in that mass-produced junk food style of deliciousness. The donuts aren't actually made here, but they're glazed here. Tip: Ask the staff "What's hot?" to get the warmest, most freshly glazed flavors that literally melt in your mouth. Only downside is that it can get sticky, and it's easy to get sugar flakes all over your clothes and face (esp. if you grab the donuts to go and eat as you walk. Like other Krispy Kremes, this location has the 'Hot, ready now' sign that has people flock to this beloved donut shop. That is the exact thong that drew my boyfriend and myself in when we were walking in the area. We opted for two traditional glazed donuts and an apple juice totaling out to be $4.04. So, you're looking at about a dollar per yummy, warm, melt in your mouth donut. The calories probably total out more the cost of the donut, but well worth the small indulge. When we came here it was early Sunday night with no line or wait. This location is no stranger to being slammed with patrons wanting to get in on the donut goodness any other time during the day. Seriously I was surprised it wasn't like that when we got here. Make like we did, grab your donut and go to DuPont Circle fountain to people watch. This is a perfectly located donut shop. It's a perfect place to meet as it's right on the Metro stop and there's a covered area in front of it. And there's only ONE in Dupont. The donut guy last night was friendly and had a catchy southern twang which seems to suit donut selling. One alien asked why the donuts were hot! The reply (in drawl) was, "'Cause we bake 'em fresh, honey." I'm fairly convinced that the hot glazed donut from Krispy Kreme is carbohydrate drug in pure form. I'm so happy there's a Krispy Kreme right in Dupont Circle. Convenient location -- and it doesn't get better than their basic glazed. They have a light consistency, the just the right amount of sweetness, and never feel heavy afterwards. It's hard to get a doughnut come out this perfect -- but Krispy Kreme never fails to impress! They're also VERY reasonably priced. A dollar for a single doughnut, and $8 for a dozen. That's a steal. It's a great dessert item for after you go out to eat in Dupont. The staff is usually very friendly, but they don't take Discover cards -- which I know many places don't, but I feel like more places increasingly do now. I can't help it. I love Krispy Kreme. I'm not as bad as Charles Barkley and I rarely eat them, but that doesn't mean I don't think they're amazing. This is probably one of the worst ones I've ever been to -mostly because they lie about the "hot now" sign (it's always on)- and it's tiny, but it serves F-n' Krispy Kremes. How bad can it be? I've had Krispy Kremes from grocery stores and still loved them. I remember our cafeteria at Tulane sold them. I don't know how far we actually were from a Mothership, but did I care? No. Even microwaved or cold Krispy Kremes taste delicious. Now, it could be classified as an otherworldly religious experience to actually have an original "hot now" from a big mama suburban Krispy Kreme, so I won't lie and say this is as good. It's not. Located right next to the Dupont Circle Metro station, those lacking in willpower will be as helpless as a fly being drawn towards a bright light. Interestingly enough, this is not far from reality considering how the glaring light of the "Hot Now" sign is reminiscent of bug zappers. I'm sorry Fernando, but I care... On top of having a lethargic staff this place is tiny and looks sketch compared to it's Shady Grove location. I stopped in on a Thursday evening just as office workers were getting off and decided to get an original glazed donut. The donuts in the case didn't look very fresh and I assume that's what Fernando was referring to when he said he didn't care that they don't bake em' in the store. The HOT light was on so I thought they would be pumping out HOT donuts on the conveyer, but no I had to wait about 5 minutes for a real HOT one. I've tasted the difference between a HOT one and a cooled one, so I chose to wait. The donut I got was greasy and over glazed. If you've ever had a fresh original glazed donut from a real Krispy Kreme (that is designed to actually fry and glaze its donuts throughout the day within the store) then you will know that what you are getting at this Krispy Kreme is not the real deal. If you think Krispy Kreme in Dupont is good...you seriously need to try the donuts from the one in Shady Grove. One original glazed is not enough when it's HOT from there. The HOT one I got at this location was not appetizing at all. Your kids will love the Kris[y Kreme at Shady Grove. I highly recommend this location for any doughnut other than the classic glazed. I'm an avid fan of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and my all-time favorite is the classic glazed doughnut. While the service here is fairly consistent, even near closing time, I was disappointed in the classic glazed doughnuts. The little girl (boyish/manly looking) at the register on Sunday evening 6/15 around 8PM was not friendly at all, even after I tried having small talk with her; not sure what her problem was. Not expecting you to be super friendly but how about put a smile on your face even if you have to fake it until the customer leaves. Some, and probably most blacks who are in this role seems angry and simply not friendly at all. My logic usually goes as follows: 1) I'll just have one, it's so cheap, and it's a treat. 2) Well they are really just mostly air anyway, and they ARE sooo cheap, ok I'll get two 3) Wait maybe someone at work will want one, and they are soo cheap and they are "just hot" i'll get three 4) then the krispy kreme woman says something about how if i just get a couple more it's EVEN cheaper, ok, half a dozen it is 5) I've somehow eaten them all and I'm bewildered and feeling sick. *** IMPORTANT: Their donuts are NOT made-in-house, they are only glazed-in-house. Life is too short, and Yes, I like to sometimes indulge myself in sugary goodness. I was sad when I found out Krispy Kreme was no longer available in grocery stores (what a shame!!!). So after a night of debauchery stumbling to the metro, my eyes caught the Krispy Kreme store with the warm, fuzzy, sugary goodness smell that came from it. Part of me was saying keep walking, this calorie intake is too much this late, but other part of me was saying "ehh it's just one night, it won't hurt". I finally gave in and got myself a original glazed donut. The sugary glazed warm donut just tastes so good. It's soft, and so easy to eat more than just one. I placed an order with Krispy Kreme and the order states it was delivered but I did not receive it. I have contact the delivery company Grubhub who were helpful with at least getting my delivery charges returned. Krispy Kreme did absolutely nothing to assist with it. The GM and the staff at the store were rude and did very little to help. I am still awaiting a refund for my purchase. This is poor customer service. read more

I can never resist a hot Krispy Kreme doughnut. Unfortunately, although the red sign was lit claiming that they were hot, they were not. They weren't even warm. But, they were still yummy albeit sort of like the ones that you buy in a box at the grocery store. I always stick to the original glazed but was sucked into trying the key lime pie doughnut. To my delight, it was very good. We also got a cup of doughnut holes for .99 cents with any purchase. When I lived back in DC, I had a tradition of hump day donuts. First Wednesday of the month, I'd hop off the train at the Dupont metro, grab a dozen glazed and a dozen assorted, and watch the vultures descend when they hit the office kitchen. I'm not a big donut connoisseur (can generally take sweets or leave them), but I'd take these over most of the ones I've had in the past. Especially when that hot sign is on, and they're toasty warm.
