Only 5 people inside at a time. Love this Covid rule. Got my usual, the Oreo overload with fudge instead of chocolate chips. Cold stone seriously needs some Nutella. Staff was nice. Ice cream delicious. Will be back

Create Your Own Ice Cream in a cup

Cold Stone creamery is a fun, unique experience. Instead of choosing from lots of pre-made flavors, you get to create your own unique mix. This is a popular spot--and for good reason. First, you select from a dozen or so 'base' ice cream flavors. Next, you select your topics (for example, brownie, almonds, peanut butter, peanut butter cups, and chocolate chunks among many others). These will be added to the ice cream and mixed for you, then served in a cup or cone. The result is a unique, tasty, and generous serving of ice cream. I docked a star for two reasons. First, they were out of ice cream cones when I came by. Personally, I strongly prefer to eat my ice cream from a cone rather than a cup, so for me that was a bit of a bummer. Second, the base flavors were few in number and not very flavorful. Once you add the other toppings, this is not very noticeable; however, there are other ice cream parlors in the area that serve overall better-quality ice cream.

The people working here are great but whoever decorates the cake needs more training. Just ordered a birthday cake this week and the writing looks like my 5 year old niece did it. Wish I could get my money back.

a birthday cake with strawberries and sprinkles

Totally greatful for the staff here! My daughter wanted a special cake for her birthday party and of course we waited until the last possible moment. They made the perfect cake for her. I will definitely come back to this location. Great customer service'

Reina was fantastic and provided exceptional customer service. She was just very genuine, or her training was really good, or perhaps both.

Place was filthy. Overpriced. Stale waffle cone. Hard pass. One person in my group just left because of the funky smell.

While some items, especially the ready-to-cook meals, are on the pricier side, you can still find great deals with their private-label products. I really enjoyed the alcohol selection. They carry everything from casual everyday wines to reasonably priced bottles that are actually quite good. The section is well organized, which makes it easy to browse. They also have hard liquor and beer, so most people will be able to find what they are looking for. Another big plus is the number of self-checkout stations, so I did not have to wait in line. The parking lot can be a bit confusing and chaotic depending on the time of day, so keep that in mind. Do not forget to get your parking validated before leaving the store.

Only problem, if you misplaced your parking pass, which is free for first 2 hours, then you gotta pay. I could not find my ticket to validate, so I had to pay. Sucks. In VA, you can park all day. I used to go to Wegmans after work, get a meal and study for hours. Not here. Gotta pay to park. I think they ought to revise the parking situation.

They were also responsive via email for a question I had which I really appreciated. I have only ever come here for the bagels, but know they have breads, pastries, and are known for their panda cake pops. The people in front of us were ordering them and said they were fresh. I always get the bagels from here, while on the smaller size, they are really good. I argue that DC does not have good bagels, but these are some of the better options that we do have in the city. Get a dozen for the best deal or if you do not mind getting the ones from the previous day, those are the best deal at $7 for an assortment of 6. Pop them in the freezer and they are just as good. Service Quick and easy since I was grabbing bagels to go. The staff was helpful with pointing things out. Ambiance A few places to sit inside, but if it is nice I would recommend just going to the zoo. It is across the street and way better to eat in front of watching the animals than the busy street.

First thing to note: even though it's in the museum, it's free to enter. This location has a much smaller storefront and menu/selection than the others though which was disappointing! So I was relieved to see they had the matcha kouign amann and black sesame mochi roll (Mar 2023 exclusive) which was what I came for! Servers were also friendly and helpful! There's no seating inside, so use a table right outside (in the museum's courtyard). Onto the food: Matcha kouign amann had a great matcha flavor and texture! But I think it would have benefited from being more bitter because it was quite sweet for a matcha pastry. The black sesame mochi roll had a great texture! But it was also very sweet which threw me off because it normally should have a nuttier taste. Besides the pastries, they've got a small fridge with bottled drinks and some pretty tasty looking egg salad sandwiches. They've also got a set up that looks like it's for you to doctor your coffee (sugar, stir sticks) but I forgot to ask if they actually serve drinks too. On this visit I got a couple of cookies and a day old kouign amann, which they sell for 40% off. Everything was beautiful and delicious -- my co workers and I especially enjoyed the marble tahini cookie, which looks like it might be swirled with black sesame too. The stuff isn't cheap but it felt worth it easily. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more!
