All others were great, these are just the ones I got to try. I will definitely stop in again if we're ever in the area. The woman who helped us was so patient and helpful as well, I really appreciated her for engaging with us and assisting with my questions. There was lots of seating, it was easy to access and park at, we had no trouble at 7:30am.

The dining room was almost empty when I walked in, and no one greeted me. They were playing some Kanye west music behind the counter so I thought there'd be some livelihood but... there wasn't. One of the younger employees who took my order was fine but you could tell he didn't want to be there and the person at the register seemed like they didn't really want to be there either. They weren't outright rude, but the interaction definitely wasn't welcoming and both of them mumbled and spoke so low, I had to ask them both multiple times what they were saying. I ordered two donuts and a cup of coffee, which came to $7.35. For what was a Keurig coffee with basic shelf-stable creamer, it felt overpriced. On the positive side, the donuts were good. You can tell they're handmade, and they had a nice taste. They were definitely the highlight of the visit. Maybe my expectations were too high because of all the recommendations I'd heard, but I expected a Saturday morning at such a well-known donut shop to have more energy and atmosphere. Instead, it felt surprisingly underwhelming and lacked the welcoming vibe I was hoping for. Overall, the donuts were solid, but nothing about the experience made me eager to come back. I don't regret trying it, but I also don't really understand the hype.

The shop itself is incredibly cute, with beautiful décor and a selection of gifts that make it an enjoyable place to explore. I also love that everything is made fresh, which is exactly how we prefer our treats. One of my favorite things about Hello Sugar is the size and packaging of their doughnuts. They make it easy to try several different flavors without having to commit to one large doughnut, and you can enjoy a good variety for a reasonable price. The person who took our order was incredibly sweet, and the doughnuts were DELICIOUS. We ordered Cookie Butter, Butterbeer, Lavender, Cinnamon Sugar, Strawberry Lemonade, and what I believe was a Lemon Curd. :) Cookie Butter (10/10) - Excellent execution! The flavor was delicious, and I loved how well everything came together. If you're a cookie butter fan, I would absolutely recommend trying this one. Lemon Curd (10/10) - The perfect balance of flavors. This was so delicious, and I really enjoyed how well the lemon complemented the sweetness. Cinnamon Sugar (10/10) - A classic, and a delicious one at that. Sometimes you don't need anything overly complicated to make something wonderful, and this was exactly that. Great flavor from beginning to end. Butterbeer (7/10) - This was good, but I don't necessarily think I was the target audience for the flavor. I can appreciate the execution, but it wasn't one of my personal favorites. Lavender (7/10) - Another good option, but I found myself wanting a bit more of what I anticipated to be a lavender flavor. It was still enjoyable, just not as memorable as some of the others. Strawberry Lemonade (10/10) - This one was DELICIOUS and, oddly enough, refreshing! The balance of strawberry and lemon was excellent, and I really enjoyed how the flavors worked together. Overall, we had such an enjoyable experience. Between the welcoming service, adorable atmosphere, and wonderful selection of fresh doughnuts, Hello Sugar is absolutely somewhere we will return anytime we're in Spokane!

10.31.25: We drove the hour to Spokane to run an errand. Afterwards, I wanted to find a pie bakery…read moreto try other than Birdie's. I quickly did some research and found Rocket Bakery was just 5 mins away from where we were. We pulled into the tiny parking and luckily there was 1 spot left. When we walked in, it was more of a coffee shop than a bakery I had envisioned. However, they had a small area of baked goods and a glass window of cakes/pie and ready-made food. I didn't recall being greeted either. Vibe was kinda off, not the cool vibing coffee shop feel. After looking at everything, the only pie option they had was a Rhubarb Custard, which I went ahead and ordered a slice. I also got a slice of the Blueberry Cheesecake Tart, and a berry scone. My friend got a slice of the Lemon Tart and a chocolate chip cookie. The young employee helping us was really nice, but I think she felt overwhelmed by the line of people started to form. Towards the end of putting our order together, another employee came to help. I also felt we were kinda rushed out of there. So much so, that after we were handed our food, out the door, and almost to the car-- an employee came running out with a box in her hand. She forgot to give us one of our slices. The berry scone was pretty good. It was dense, moist, and cooked perfectly. I was excited to try the rhubarb custard pie, but unfortunately it fell short for me. The rhubarb wasn't tart at all, giving it a real subtle taste. Possibly could have used too much sugar to cut the tartness. The custard and crust part wasn't bad. I could taste the nutmeg and cinnamon and a hint of vanilla. The blueberry cheesecake tart had great flavor. It wasn't too cheesy nor sugary. Preferably, I wished it had a bit more blueberry topping. The crust was interesting--it was good and I think it had nuts, oatmeal, and coconut mixed into it. My friend said his lemon tart was really good but that the winner was the chocolate chip cookie. He said it was on the softer side and filled with mini sweet chocolate chips that he really enjoyed. For now, I'll continue my quest in search of yummy pies in CDA and Spokane.

The tables are assorted in size but I never saw an employee in that area to wipe them down. It also was crazy warm in there. Even after taking my coat off I couldn't stay long in the heat. The employees were very nice and conversational. You can see why it's been around for so long.

I do extra-extra--it's the only way I'm guaranteed to get them thoroughly coated (you can always shake off what is excess).
