Still Love the Donuts, But the Birthday Reward Experience Has Been Disappointing (Second Year in a…read moreRow) This is my second review--and more specifically, the second time I've had an issue with Hello Sugar's birthday coupon. Let me be clear: I absolutely love Hello Sugar. Their donuts are amazing, GLUTEN FREE the shop is adorable, and I've been a loyal customer for three years. I truly have a passion for this place. That's why it's hard to even write this, but I feel like I need to be honest about my experience. The first year I got the birthday coupon, it was great--no problems. But last year and now again this year, things just didn't sit right. This year, my birthday fell on a Wednesday. I was busy all day and couldn't make it in, but I was really excited to stop by the next day and use my birthday coupon. I'd even told my friends about it and planned to share the donuts with them. When I got to the counter, I mentioned I was there for the birthday coupon, showed the code, and was told it had already expired--on my actual birthday, June 18th That was shocking. Most places give you a few days after--or even a full month--to use a birthday reward. I wasn't asking for something unreasonable. I just missed it by one day due to a busy weekday, and I genuinely didn't even know it expired on the birthday itself. What made it worse was the way it was handled: no "happy birthday," no kindness, no flexibility--just a flat, "It's expired." It really put a damper on something that was supposed to feel special. And to be honest, this is the second year in a row that I've walked away from a birthday visit here feeling disappointed and a little embarrassed. Any time I come in with a coupon or reward, it feels like I'm being treated differently--like I'm doing something wrong by trying to redeem what they offered me. I'm not asking for free stuff all the time--I happily support Hello Sugar all year long. But if you're going to offer birthday rewards, they should feel celebratory, not frustrating or awkward. And a little grace and kindness can go a long way in those moments. I still love their donuts, and I want to keep coming back. But honestly, this experience left a bad taste in my mouth--and not because of the donuts.

We haven't visited in quite a while because of poor service in the past, but since we were in the…read morearea we decided to give this place another try. Unfortunately, the experience was just as bad if not worse. The employee helping customers was clearly unhappy to be there and was openly rude to the people in front of us. When it was our turn, he treated us the same way. Many of the product tags were incorrect, which caused confusion while ordering. Each time we asked for clarification, he rolled his eyes or responded with obvious annoyance. When we politely mentioned that the labels were wrong, he simply stared at us and said, "What else?" I work in customer service myself, so I understand that tough days happen but this level of attitude was shocking. To make matters worse, after ringing us up he picked/scratched his nose and immediately began helping the next customer without washing his hands. Customer service may not be the right fit for him. Sadly, this visit confirmed why we stopped coming in the first place. (Tall, brown hair in a ponytail).

Personally, this is the last time to set foot in this store. If your business is going to do without pennies, then the change should be .30 cents instead of a quarter.
