What a cute little shop! It seems like they're in the middle of a soft opening and I overheard they sound like the grand opening will be soon! Service was great, the man who helped us was so good and incredibly knowledgeable about the product, went over every donut with us using the display case Got 3 donuts, the creme brûlée and the Canadian candy bar were the standouts for sure. I had high hopes for this new boutique donut shop based on other reviews, the emphasis on natural ingredients, and the handcrafted approach. This locally owned shop on Sherman in downtown Coeur d'Alene has a very minimalist concept: a small storefront, a limited selection of donuts and coffee on display, and no seating. The proprietor was friendly, informative, and clearly passionate about the product. The donuts come with the premium pricing one would expect from a small artisan bakery, but unfortunately they did not live up to expectations. The flavours themselves were good, but the donuts were noticeably drier than expected even when fresh, and by the next day they were virtually inedible despite being stored properly. Usually small artisan shops justify the higher price point with a clearly superior product and experience. Unfortunately, Lantern Donuts did not quite achieve that for me and, regrettably, I found the mass-produced chain-store donuts more enjoyable overall. On a personal "worth it" scale, I'd place it around a 3/10. Regrettably, not somewhere I would return to. read more

The staff were so nice and friendly, even though the place was absolutely slammed for the 4th. Definitely not the cheapest donuts around, but they're so light and airy and their flavor selection is such a nice change from your typical run of the mill donuts that you find everywhere else. read more

These tasty, fresh donuts are the result of a pastry chef with 30+ years experience, made from scratch with natural ingredients and no seeds oils. Think in-season, farmers market, locally sourced ingredients. Each week they have rotating flavors but it sounds like their model is evolving as they learn the flow and it might be more of a monthly rotation in the future. Lantern Donuts is a premium experience! The donuts are made from scratch in house, with all fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Fried in coconut oil, no seed oils! A huge win for many people who care about their health. These donuts are incredible! I've gotten to try several of them. The recent Peach Bourbon donut so far has been my favorite! Each donut is so creative, and hand made with care. These are small batch donuts, so you need to get in early to snag them, or pre-order online. The coffee is great too. Right now they only roast single origin coffees in house, which really brings out the unique flavors in each coffee. I've had the Ethiopian Guji and it was delicious. When we were visiting CDA from Tennessee, heard about the new donut shop in town and wanted to give it a try! Walked into the shop where we were met by the friendly staff at the front who shared with us the menu for the week. The Cold Joe donut was in high demand even at 9am but was able to snag one, while we also picked up a Delicata Delight. The Cold Joe was fantastic with the cocoa meringue and cold brew glaze. Can honestly say I've never had anything like it and would 100% get it again. The Delicata Delight was a unique blend of flavors that paired perfectly together. We were in Coeur d'Alene for a wedding and got several boxes of these high end donuts to share with the wedding party. Everyone loved them! They were easily the best donuts I've ever had!! The flavors were amazing ...everyone cut them into fourths so we could all try the different flavors. I got home from the trip wishing we still had some (and wishing Coeur d'Alene wasn't so far away.) We also bought a few bags of the coffee sold at this shop which was truly exceptional!! Fortunately we did get to take the coffee home and enjoy it for longer. So definitely check that out if you stop in. read more
