Brussels with Pork Belly
Katie H.

My sister and I went here on a girl's night out recently and it was unexpected! Based on the menu and the website we anticipated this place being a little more like a bistro than what we walked in to. When we walked in, the inside felt more like a pub or a bar than it did a bistro. We had reservations, and were sat quickly. We asked to sit outside, because it was a beautiful evening and they accommodated. The food: We started with a bottle of white wine to share and the Brussel sprouts with pork belly. They were really good! We both really enjoyed them! I loved the pork belly version way more than the bacon Brussels! I will say they def have a kick, so if you don't like spice - proceed with caution! For our entrees we got the parmesan crusted halibut and the salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the risotto was also cooked well. It had a very sweet flavor that I don't know I loved, but that was just a personal preference. I am more of a savory person. My sister enjoyed the halibut itself, but it wasn't really what she was expecting when it said parm crusted. We had both envisioned a crust all around the halibut, more like a breading, but this parm crusted halibut had basically a parmesan chip on top. It really tasted like a cheeze-it. It wasn't bad, but not preferred. The service was fantastic. Our server was very sweet, helpful, and attentive. I think if we were presented with the opportunity we may try more dishes here. It was a great night out.

We had a great meal at Bluebird. My friends and I came into Coeur D'Alene for a week's working vacation and this was our first meal in town. The wait was substantial (1 hr+) on a Friday night, so in the mean time we went across the street to Capone's Pub for some drinks and an appetizer or two. The atmosphere inside was lovely, and between the six of us we sampled a good portion of the menu. Reviews were great all around. My pork tenderloin hit on all the right notes, and the mushroom risotto underneath was perfectly cooked and delightfully rich. I had a side seasonal salad which had apparently just rotated on the menu. It was on the savory side but the soft boil egg was a great touch (we do wish we'd been informed it had bacon in it though, as my vegetarian friend ordered it but was not able to eat it). This would be a five star review if not for the speed of service. Our server was very friendly, but we were waiting well over a half hour (closing in on an hour) for our food to come out of the kitchen. Looking around the place it seemed other people were in the same boat - perhaps the kitchen was just backed up the night we came. Regardless, if you don't mind a wait (on the front end and back end), this spot is worth checking out!

Great little spot that I think is perfect for happy hour. Good service, great portions. Wouldn't be my first pick for dinner in town, but a solid recommendation for anyone looking to try something slightly elevated from what most local places offer. The Caesar salad is grilled which I didn't love, but the portions on the Mac and poutine were great. Will be back!

Drop by on a Friday night, place was busy got seats at the bar. Service was great, bartender was super friendly and helpful. The appetizers were yummy. My favorite was the poutine tater tots and the scallops. For entree I ordered the halibut. Flavor was there but the fish was firm. They have a variety of items on their menu and I would definitely come back to try them.

This was a very cute spot to go to for dinner! The place is small, but not crowded. We sat at the bar so we can watch the Golden Knights game. The loaded poutine was amazing! It had pieces of juicy pork belly, a fried egg, and other great things. We ordered the burger and the duck. The duck was sliced into medallions and were perfectly tender! The prices were reasonable too for a place with great quality food. I would definitely come back!

What we got was freezer burnt ice cream, a couple small Boston creme donut things from Safeway or a similar grocery store, more whipped cream and chocolate sauce, and another grocery store lemon pie slice with whip cream and more chocolate sauce. There was chocolate sauce on my debit card that was given to me. Overall the food was great ! Just avoid the dessert. That was not worth $20.. everything was freezer burnt and that was not the desserts on the picture nor was there a description of it being available desserts. Also our server told us when one item was not going to be fully available, the same was not done for our dessert.

So, my wife and I thought we'd give it a try. So glad we did! We sat at the bar, even though there was plenty of seating, and were addressed by the server promptly. We ordered a chicken sandwich to share and the soup flight. The sandwich was great and the soups were really great! All three of them. I had a really good huckleberry cider and my wife a citric IPA. We both like our drink. As a bonus, they have several TV's to watch sports games on. They have a small patio for the warm days. We will be back for sure to enjoy good food, service and a fun time.

The 1st few times I went to Sunset, I went in alone. As a young woman, I felt comfortable and safe. Everyone was friendly, and very welcoming. By the second time I came in a few people remembered me by sight and even a couple by name. The drinks are reasonably priced if not a bargain. There are some nice pool tables. The noise level is low, just casual conversation, banter, and laughter. The lights are dimmed and there is bar seating as well as small tables on two levels. The staff is personable and attentive. There is one elephant in the room that has some people steering clear. It is a smoking bar. If you can't handle that, maybe this place is not for you. I figure, the bar is casual so no need to dress up and I take a shower and wash my clothes no matter what at the end of the day. I recommend this bar for anyone looking for a casual relaxing environment to enjoy a drink.

I got a growler of beer from a different brewery here so that proved to be successful and pleasant. I went poking around on Untappd and looked up anything Black Lodge Brewing may have made and they certainly had some intriguing beers so I held off on getting a Yelp review posted for it. But on my second visit I was told that they don't brew their own beer anymore and that they only have guest taps from other breweries but they still had a good variety of beer to choose from as far as beer options go. So this place is more of a taphouse with guest taps so something to keep in mind. It's still as cool as I remember it. My last visit here looked like a concert was going to start. Might have been a metal or a punk oriented type band as that was what the audience appeared to be. I wasn't going to see the show and just wanted a beer so they were nice enough to let me in to do just that. Black Lodge Brewing is one of those breweries that is inspired by the TV show Twin Peaks and you pick up subtle nods to it there with some pictures of Laura Palmer. I bought some swag for this brewery online and while they had several designs I went with the logos that had the opening credits styled from the show with the brewery name on it.

We had two kids and a baby with us and they were extremely accommodating, offering the kids crayons and paper to color on to keep them busy, which allowed us parents to relax for a much needed minute. We ordered the artichoke dip and the kids cheese pizza, which was huge (for a kid's meal) and super cheesy with great crust, YUM! We got a few different beers - all were delicious - and took a couple cans of the Thai tea seltzer to go. The bartender/server invited the kids back to watch how he made the cans so that was cool. Overall very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, exactly what I was looking for with three kids. My husband loved the music and kept telling the guys it was his favorite stop of our whole trip!
