Good..... until a LOUD drunk group of 6 came in the lower octagon section of whispers. They sat down, threw out a deck of cards and started playing, talking extremely loud while other couples were trying to have a nice evening of conversation and dinner! They had zero self awareness and the staff could have said something but didn't. We could no longer talk to each other sitting next to them so we got up and left as soon as we could. This review is for the Igloo Experience. I want to start by saying our waitress was wonderful--attentive, friendly, and clearly doing her best. This review is not a reflection on her service. We had a 6:00 pm reservation and arrived at 5:50 pm, only to be told it would be a few minutes. Unfortunately, we weren't seated in the igloo until 6:20 pm. Once inside, it was clear the space hadn't been fully reset. There were no plates or silverware, only four water glasses for a party of six, and the previous party's bills were still on one of the seats. The light/speaker unit kept losing power and shutting off. Our waitress replaced it, and another staff member attempted to swap the power supply, but it continued to fail. As a result, we weren't able to listen to music during our time in the igloo. The food and drinks were fine, but nothing stood out as exceptional, especially given the prices. The igloo itself looked worn, with visible tape patching, uncomfortable seating, and limited back support for two members of our group. Overall, it didn't feel as polished or comfortable as expected. I was also surprised to learn that the $75 deposit does not apply toward food or drinks, which was disappointing. We've had the igloo experience here in previous years and enjoyed it much more. Unfortunately, this visit did not meet expectations, and we won't be returning. read more

My stars go to excellent staff/service, beautiful location and their speciality drinks I can't find elsewhere. The jalapeño pineapple margarita and the cucumber lemon grass martini are fantastic. Different bartenders day to day do change the experience and taste of the drinks. I love it when their bartenders add some of the ingredients in the drink (chunks of cucumber, jalapeños, etc) vs filter it out. The food, not so great. Nothing special I'd recommend ordering here. Of everything I've had here, I liked the chicken sandwich but recommend ordering their lemon and garlic aioli to add to the bun and dip for your fries. I would not recommend the salmon drip - the bread is saturated fully with butter and the drip itself is terrible. While staff is great, they're def understaffed. So expect to be on island time - relax and enjoy the scenery. read more

My friends and I drove into Coeur d'Alene from Spokane to spend the day. We walked around town and then had lunch at Whispers before heading home. We had a nice table on the outside patio overlooking the harbor. I started with a Moscow mule. This was very tasty. Then for my entrée, I had the Buttermilk fried chicken cobb mixed greens topped with buttermilk fried chicken, tomatoes, green onions, honey cured bacon, blue cheese crumbles and egg (I held the egg). This was smaller salad but perfect for lunch. Lots of good toppings. The dressing was like a honey mustard. Very tasty. One friend had the fish & chips and the other friend had the Croque Madame. They both liked their meals. For dessert, we shared the brownie sundae. This was yummy. A big gooey brownie with ice cream and whipped cream on top. Yum! Nice service with helpful waitresses. I set a coat in the seat next to me at the bar to save for my friend who was on her way and the bartender set two glasses of water down and told me those seats were for his regulars who come every time at that day. The service was also good, server was nice to bring out grilled chicken for one dog in our party. The service is ALWAYS nice here. But the choke points are weird. There's congestion toward the entrance and around the bar area. The chairs are comfy but hard to get in and out of especially at the bar. The lounge tables are easier with a great view but if it's busy, you have to knock elbows with other people to get through the choke point between the bar and wall/pillar. Drinks always got to us at a reasonable time and we were never forgotten nor neglected. I think this bar would've been exceptional had it not been for the gross planning of putting the pool above the lobby so the lobby looks like crap. Whispers could easily be a great Vegas type lobby bar, but the architecture strips it of the chance. Prices are decent much like the rest of the resort. Appetizers are good. I like looking out at the lake during the winter holidays because outside are the igloos and "campfires." Also, I can HEAR my date, and have a nice convo with them. read more

I inquired about the 75.deposit being used toward the bill. No one got back to me. Party, of 4. 2 arrived a few minutes late. The server said the clock was ticking you better order now. We had a 2 hour window. The service was great. The drinks and anything fried (wings and coconut shrimp) was fantastic. We were advised to order right way as the kitchen gets backed up and at times customers had to take their food in to go boxes. So we were rushed. The food came. 2 of the 4 dinners were totally cold. Every item. The salmon, the rice and the beans. Seems like they took it out of the fridge and let it get to room temp. The waitress was great. Offered to remake it but we were running out of time and would have to take it in a box so we just asked them to microwave it. Yep. That's exactly what they did. In their defense they did add a discount. The atmosphere was the selling point but they sure need to work out a lot of things with timing and quality for that price! read more

We did the s'mores experience and it was really tooo cold on those hard stone seats to be comfortable. You really need extra heat from another source like an electric heater or blanket provided by the resort to enjoy the experience. The service was good but felt the price was really expensive for the experience unfortunately I don't recommend it. read more

Post pandemic, Whispers has been very disappointing. Service is okay. Cocktails are often served in a different (and not always appropriate) glass every time you order one. Cocktails, like a French 75, that are supposed to get shaken, don't. We watched a bartender make ours. Not shaken, and not very chilled. The atmosphere is nice. If you just want something simple like a draft beer in a nice atmosphere, Whispers is probably okay. For any type of craft cocktails, like you probably expect in a "resort", don't bother. Overall we have found the overall service at the resort to have gone downhill, and we probably won't be back. read more

Whispers had good food, drink, views, and atmosphere. Best of all, it gave a very pet-friendly vibe! Staff not only allowed a group of four bros to bring a dog into the bar indoors, but also allowed the dog to lay next to its human on an upholstered sofa. It was a medium-sized dog with slightly shaggy fur. The dog did not display the good behavior and training one would expect from any bona-fide service animal, as it repeatedly whimpered loudly and paced back and forth on the sofa as the bros stared at their phones. For any of you heartless non-animal lovers who are considering dining at Whispers, all I can say is buck up, enjoy a cold cocktail and some great waterfront views, and buy a lint roller at the drugstore on your way over! read more

Great bar with great views and AMAZING service. We've been here a few times and each time have had the pleasure of being served by Heather who is the nicest server! After going there once and then not returning until several months later she remembered us and where we had sat which was incredible considering how many customers she must get every day. She is always very attentive and just super nice which always makes for an excellent experience. The drinks are delicious and you can order desserts from Dockside (I highly recommend the Mac Daddy Coconut Cake). Just super relaxed atmosphere and again impeccable service. I can't stress enough how AWESOME Heather is, after a really terrible dinner at Beverly's we went there for some redemption drinks and dessert and she felt so bad about our poor dinner that she took care of our dessert, so sweet. If it's cold just sit inside and your odds of getting recognized as a patron are much higher. The signature coffee is a great way to enjoy the lake views and fire place. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. I tell all my office friends to meet their clients here instead of in a stuffy office. The chairs are comfy too. The staff are pleasant but not overly attentive. I live in CDA and avoid businesses that cater to tourists as a rule. I had not visited Whispers in a number of years after several episodes of terrible service. Decided to visit today for a bloody mary. The bloody marys with food hanging on the top enticed us. We arrived and the place was not crowded. Entered Whispers and there were two bartenders. Neither greeted us. We found a seat with two other occupied tables. After about 10 minutes, I got up and went to the bar and ordered two Bloody Bosses. Bartender never let us know that each drink served two people. There were two of us. The bartender said that the food had to be made in the restaurant and the drinks would take about 10 minutes to make. After 25 minutes our drinks showed up, delivered by the server who apparently worked the bar. Bad attitude, and complained to all customers about how busy she was. The drinks clearly had sat for a while after being made. The food on top was room temperature. The server dropped them off and left...no plates, no napkins. My wife approached the server and asked for napkins. She said she would bring them but did not. My wife again went to the bar, and was able to get napkins and utensils. The drinks were huge and it would have been nice to know that they served two. On top of that, they were overpriced at $35 each. Amazing. After we finished our drinks, I flagged down the server to pay, completed the check and got up tp leave. As we walked out, the server passed us and never even said thank you. We will NEVER be back. Save your money and get off of Sherman for a great experience. The Blue Bird, Jeremiah Johnson's and Daft Badger put the resort to shame. read more

The first night we went the drinks were good. Although the second night, they got our order completely wrong and we were told to leave. The first night we went with someone under the age of 21 and it seemed to be okay so we came back. The second time we were asked to leave after receiving our drinks, in a very rude way. They got each of our orders wrong and put them in plastic cups when we specifically told them glass (when they asked) and it tasted horrible. I will not come back! The pina colada was too watery/icy.
