10.31.25: We drove the hour to Spokane to run an errand. Afterwards, I wanted to find a pie bakery to try other than Birdie's. I quickly did some research and found Rocket Bakery was just 5 mins away from where we were. We pulled into the tiny parking and luckily there was 1 spot left. When we walked in, it was more of a coffee shop than a bakery I had envisioned. However, they had a small area of baked goods and a glass window of cakes/pie and ready-made food. I didn't recall being greeted either. Vibe was kinda off, not the cool vibing coffee shop feel. After looking at everything, the only pie option they had was a Rhubarb Custard, which I went ahead and ordered a slice. I also got a slice of the Blueberry Cheesecake Tart, and a berry scone. My friend got a slice of the Lemon Tart and a chocolate chip cookie. The young employee helping us was really nice, but I think she felt overwhelmed by the line of people started to form. Towards the end of putting our order together, another employee came to help. I also felt we were kinda rushed out of there. So much so, that after we were handed our food, out the door, and almost to the car-- an employee came running out with a box in her hand. She forgot to give us one of our slices. The berry scone was pretty good. It was dense, moist, and cooked perfectly. I was excited to try the rhubarb custard pie, but unfortunately it fell short for me. The rhubarb wasn't tart at all, giving it a real subtle taste. Possibly could have used too much sugar to cut the tartness. The custard and crust part wasn't bad. I could taste the nutmeg and cinnamon and a hint of vanilla. The blueberry cheesecake tart had great flavor. It wasn't too cheesy nor sugary. Preferably, I wished it had a bit more blueberry topping. The crust was interesting--it was good and I think it had nuts, oatmeal, and coconut mixed into it. My friend said his lemon tart was really good but that the winner was the chocolate chip cookie. He said it was on the softer side and filled with mini sweet chocolate chips that he really enjoyed. For now, I'll continue my quest in search of yummy pies in CDA and Spokane. read more

I live out of town but used to go to the Rocket all throughout the 90s and returned there today to see not much has changed. I got a raspberry mocha, which is a baseline drink for me that I get at all new cafes. It was delicious! The coffee shot was prefect and it was sweet enough for me. Also got the berry scone, which has lemon frosting on it. DIVINE! I don't think I could try anything else; I'd want this scone every time I stop by. The tables are assorted in size but I never saw an employee in that area to wipe them down. It also was crazy warm in there. Even after taking my coat off I couldn't stay long in the heat. The employees were very nice and conversational. You can see why it's been around for so long. read more

I often come to this location to get a bagel with cream cheese, sometimes a coffee. Today, I asked for my bagel "a little extra toasted". It came out burnt. I let the nice girl working know. She made another one and the second one was barely toasted. If you want to come here for coffee, they seem to care more about serving that. I wouldn't recommend it for food. The girls working are always nice, though. read more

Let me paint you a picture: Heidi is a warm, vibrant young woman who looks like she was harvested in a pod in the far mountains of Ireland. Her curly hair looks as though it holds the secrets to the truths of Atlantis. Her smile radiates through your deepest hurt and nurtures your inner child. When I walked into the Rocket Bakery, I was not only greeted with a smile but I was also cradled like a baby (metaphorically). She feels like a familiar and long awaited reunion with an old companion. Speaking to her was as though angels were singing and fairies were dancing, ever joyful. If you go to the Rocket Bakery on Argonne, make sure you say hello to Heidi. Who needs therapy when you could head over to Heidi's Place (my new name for the Rocket Bakery on Argonne) and experience your life change right before your very eyes? Came here with a girlfriend to catch up a little bit after our work out. Parking lot was easy, it wasn't crowded inside, and they weren't super strict on their mask policy, which I like. We shared a breakfast sandwich and a rhubarb torte. The pastrami sandwich was amazing... How come I haven't appreciate a pastrami for this long? The rhubarb tart was good not a huge fan of whatever the sweeter stuff on the bottom was, was looking for more of a sour pie but still delicious. We sat there forA couple of hours and chatted over our coffee. It was clean nice little spot to sit at. Lots of people on computers looking like they're doing homework at work. Tables were spaced not too close together so that those fearing the Oh so dangerous Covid still felt safe. I went home with a couple of cookies that I was very satisfied with. They were all huge. The atmosphere is cozy, good service, free wifi, and they don't play loud music like Starbucks so you can actually do some good studying in here. Surprised this has a cumulative 3 and a half stars. On a whim my wife and I decided to go to this bakery/cafe during her lunch break. I had been here at least one other time before. This visit was quite pleasant, clean outside and inside for the most part. Plenty of seating both out/indoors I bought a slice of lemon bread that was really great and my wife ordered a decaf latte. Know I imagined decaf coffee like diet coke is to regular coke. A copy, a fake, not the full experience. Mind you this was a latte not straight black. Regardless, WOW. Very good latte I was quite surprised. The barista was jovial and kind. Cons: their counter was quite dirty with coffee grounds. They had run out of whipping cream before they could top off my wife's latte, and the staff got a bit confused with what I had ordered for a second. Came here for the first-and last-time today. I ordered an Americano with sugar free caramel and an everything bagel with lox, red onion, and tomato. It came to over $11, and the bagel was subpar. They only put a thin schmear of cream cheese on my bagel, and when I told the barista not to be shy about it, she told me that more cream cheese would be extra! Say what?! I'm from Long Island, NY. Cream cheese schmears are an inch thick AND a lox and cream cheese bagel cost way less than $7! That is utterly ridiculous! My friend ordered a coffee with vanilla, caramel, and almond milk, and the only thing you could taste was the almond milk! It was pretty gross. She couldn't even drink it. Another one of my friends waited in line for 15-20 minutes for a scone and a coffee! The ONLY reason I gave one star was because the baristas were friendly. Other than that, no. This place just sucks. What was once a cute and charming bakery is now dull and aged. The bakery case is now a 1/4 of what it once was. The quiche is bland, nothing like adding salt to a hard topped piece of quiche. My daughter cut her piece of quiche and the salt we had to add went into her eye. I don't know when they switched roasters, but this shit taste burnt. The ambiance is sad. No more fun lamps, no personality. Ratty ass bakery. My review for The Rocket is the first of a series of places I hit up while on a 10-day vacation in Spokane. The baristas at the rocket were very personable and knew their stuff. The great thing about Rocket Bakery is that they bake their own pastries and there are several locations to serve Spokane. This particular location is located just a few minutes from the hotel that we stayed at in Spokane Valley for the Farm Chicks Antique Show. We arrived on a Sunday morning and there was a long line for Espresso. The staff and the patrons in front of us, all seemed to know each other and were conversing which seemed to slow down the ordering process a little. On a positive note: the coffee was tasty (Cafe Vita Beans from Seattle) and the atmosphere was cozy. I would recommend a visit if you are staying in Spokane Valley. read more

We ordered two dozen assorted pastries for a business event from Rocket and they were a phenomenal hit. Very reasonably priced and the scones were enormous. No joke,like elephant-sized scones. Plus I love the atmosphere of the shop. All of the staff are very helpful and down to earth. What a GREAT coffee house! Locals, you should feel very lucky for having this place here. I'm from Seattle area, have a friend in Milwood and he took me here for an early morning chat & coffee. I went back home and started looking for places like this - where you can order coffee but also go to a comfy room with couches to chat/study/meditate. Seattle is known for coffee but not a lot of places I found with such relaxed atmosphere. Very rare. Wow, my friend is lucky to have it few blocks away from his house! Great baristas, great bakery & coffee. But that relaxed atmosphere inside is priceless. Everywhere I go now I try to find places similar to it. Thank you for inspiration, Rocket Bakery! Very cute place, pleasant helpful staff, looked like a cool place to meet people and hang out. Had triple latte, orange scone and bannana bread. Latte - Hate to say it but it tasted burned, not pleasant. Got it to go, otherwise would have asked them to remake it. Orange scone - Extremely dry, all but very small bit of center was chalky dry. It was about 3:30pm, maybe they were better in the morning. But it was a throw away the way it was. Bananna Bread - Pretty good If I wanted a place to sit down and use wi-fi, I'd go back and give it a shot. Can't say I'd just pull in for something to go, seem to be other options locally. read more
