Getting ready to sink my teeth into this
    Tracey K.

Went here for a birthday party. It was fun and we basically had the whole place to ourselves. They let us decorate and bring our own music. The food was great and set out for everyone timely. Pizza to wings to salads! I think there should've been another bar tender as it was a lot for one person. There was no room on the bar because there were bottles and glasses everywhere. The young lady behind the bar stayed sweet and handled the crowd like a boss! We never waited for anything! Nice place to have a party and plenty of parking! I went there the next day for lunch and it was like it never happened. Sparkly clean! My burger was cooked perfect. Came with fries and a pickle!

I was starving so we began eating. but these were the sweet potato's fries. The portion was small to begin with.

Locals type of bar, everyone knew each other, but it was still very quiet inside from 5-630 on a Thursday night. The place is nice inside, you can tell it was newly remodeled. I could see myself coming here for beers with friends. It is small but there is plenty of seating, a lot of high top tables, with some of the more comfortable high stools I have sat on, and just a few regular height tables. The bar seating was about half full with some regulars drinking domestic beer buckets (5 for $15), the music was odd and very low. It was SO quiet that my friend and I felt like we had to whisper. The was only two people working here, and neither was the owner, who I was hoping to see. I looked at social media prior so I would have recognized them. The bartender/waitress was decent, but pretty busy with her regulars and friend sitting at the end of the bar. First off, beer. They only have 5 taps, 2 IPA's and 3 domestics. And they were out of Blue Moon so 4 lines. Can list was domestic, some seltzer and ciders, I think they had Druthers IPA in a bottle also. I had the common roots IPA ($6.50), it was great, so I'm not complaining, just pointing out the limited selection. I was hungry so I placed an order for a basket of sweet potato fries. I believe it was $6 and it was a very scrawny amount of fries, which was unfortunate. I wanted to get a sauce for dipping but the waitress did not come back around for quite a while, and by then the fries had been eaten. They were pretty good though, nicely presented with parsley. The menu is mostly sandwiches and bar snacks, which is great for a tavern, not unexpected. I opted for wings - in which I love, and you can tell a lot about a place by their wings. Flavor was very good, nice medium standard sauce, but I would have preferred more sauce on them, the sauce was left in the kitchen. They were large wings, as described on the menu, they were very crispy, however the downfall that happens, that is only avoided by the best of the best, was that the wings were dry due to the crisp. Now, I am just super critical on wings, they were good, but pretty dry. I ran out of blue cheese, and again couldn't get the waitress, oh well. I did proceed to eat them all, so, yeah. My Veggie friend had a few choices here, bravo to them, and she opted for a veggie burger, which she really enjoyed. She said the patty had a unique texture she had never had before. I don't believe it was made in house though. Overall, the food was OK, pricing was reasonable, but some portions seemed a little skimpy. I saw other orders going out and i felt those orders looked like small portions as well. The place is new, and will hopefully continue to improve over time. I am glad I checked it out, but would likely choose a different tavern over this one next time.

I haven't been in a while, but last time I went everything was great! Very good pizza and wings. The service is great, good beer selection and the menu has lots of options for everyone. I'm planning on going back again in the very near future. Ok, so I made it back tonight and wanted to do a pizza review. Kris' isn't on the One Bite pizza review app yet, so I'll use Yelp. I'm glad I made it, the pizza was very good, it's a square pie, medium thick, by no means Sicilian, just not a typical thin bar pizza. Kris' Mid City Tavern's pizza is better than most pizza shop's pizzas around here. Anybody from Albany, Watervliet, Menands for sure, Troy even and Loudonvile should be going here for pizza night. I ordered mine to go from Kris herself. It took about 15 minutes and was worth the wait. Very good crust, and the sauce was really good too. On the One Bite app I'd give it a 7.9, a very good score. Very good pizza. I can't wait to go back for lunch

The best French fries ever! Crispy outside, soft inside. Attentive service. Brittany, our sever/bartender was great.

For Tuesday dinner, the place was not packed at all and had great Caribbean music playing to help set the mood. We ordered the jerk chicken wings appetizer, and entrees of curried goat and Ox Tail. The wings were fall off the bone marinated chicken with a heavenly host of flavors that were spiced nice with not too much heat (would've posted pictures but they were devoured). The curried goat had a beautiful aroma and bouquet of curry flavors but was also not over powered with spicy heat. And the Ox Tail...... drool worthy, savory, tender, and stewed with love and effection. We both shared sides of coconut rice and steamed cabbage which were perfectly complements to our dishes. Dessert was a maple cornbread that made me believe my aunt Barbra was back there cheffing.. Will definitely return!! And will spread the gospel of Good Religion far and wide.

I add that point because if you know New Orleans food, you'll know how discerning native New Orleanians are about food - period. Upon arrival to Good Religion, I was a little shocked by the look and it being in NY; however, I am accustomed to good food from unassuming places. I will admit I am not a fan of buffets, but Good Religion is more than a buffet, it's your auntie's kitchen. There is a difference!

First, your Brunch menu and food are excellent, when we finally got our food - after roughly an hour of waiting - I was instantly reminded of why Dove and Deer is great - bold flavors, excellent preparation, gorgeous plates all in a city that desperately needs it. Second, I really felt bad for the 3 people responsible for running an entire restaurant on a Sunday (two waiters and one person in the kitchen). They did their absolute best, were so kind and apologetic, but obviously completely stressed out and frazzled. Tables got up and left after waiting for someone to get back to them - and we almost did too. It's unfair to restaurant staff to put the burden of running an entire place on them. I get if someone called off and you're short staffed 1 or 2 people, but did everyone call off? Besides 3 people? Come on. You have a real opportunity to be a go to brunch destination, my advice is to staff appropriately and give it a real go or risk customers not getting to experience the greatness that is your food - and taking their dollars to someplace far more mediocre. The only reason this isn't a 2 star or 1 star review is because of how hard your staff tried, and how good your food is (when it finally shows up).

The Roosevelt Room in Troy was a great experience from start to finish. I was honestly expecting a standalone building, but it is tucked into a strip mall near HVCC. That said, parking was easy and stress free, which is always a plus. This was our first visit as a party of four, and the service was superb. The attention to detail really stood out and was noticed immediately. Our waitress checked in at the right times, kept drinks filled, and made sure everything came out exactly as expected. Meals are made to order, so substitutions were no issue at all, and it was nice to see gluten free options available. When you walk in, you pass through a curtain and are immediately greeted by a coat attendant who takes your coats, which instantly gives the place an upscale feel. The ambiance is well done, with soft lighting and nice background music. It is on the smaller side and dimly lit, but that is clearly intentional. The menus actually light up, which was a unique and thoughtful touch that fits the atmosphere perfectly. We had reservations and were seated right away. It did not seem necessary on this particular evening, but I would definitely recommend them on a weekend given the size of the space. The food itself was excellent. Everything we ordered was very tasty, and the presentation across the board was impressive. Desserts are prepared by a pastry chef and were just as good as the rest of the meal. It is definitely on the pricey side, but that is to be expected for the level of service and atmosphere. This feels like a special occasion type of place, and in that context, it is worth every penny. We really enjoyed our night and would absolutely come back. There was also a sign mentioning live jazz on Fridays, which sounds like a great added touch. Overall, a very strong 5 stars.

This is a lost service in the restaurant industry, but a lovely touch. We were seated in, what can only be described as, a room with phenomenal atmosphere. Low light, but you could see, comfortable seating, amazing art on the walls, and a perfect spot for a romantic dinner. The service was top notch. We were offered water immediately. They have a cocktail menu that included historical cocktails dating back to the 19th Century until present day. The cocktails were perfect. We had pre-ordered a half bottle of champagne. It was very good. We also ordered caviar service. It is 1 ounce with sour cream, egg whites, yolks, and onions. Fresh made Bellinis that were still warm. We enjoyed it immensely. It was a lovely compliment to the champagne. For an appetizer we enjoyed the escargot. We have had escargot in many places, rarely, if ever, was it as good at this was. The garlic butter was on point, the crusty bread was a great addition to the dish. It was served with tiny leaves of Swiss chard. We cannot recommend this enough. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from their extensive wine list, Stag's Leap. This wine paired perfectly with the filet mignon bordelaise, and the veal chop with cherry peppers. We had a visit with the chef, he was a wonderful representative of this amazing restaurant. We cannot recommend this place enough. It's a little spendy, but worth every penny. Service, 5 stars! Atmosphere, 5 stars! Food, better than 5 stars! We will definitely be back.

Decided to give a try. The place is a total vibe, dont let the outside and area fool you! It had been a long day by the time we got here, did the outlets all day long and I was coming down with a cold. Ordered a ton of apps, Crab rangoon dip is GOOOOOODDDD!!!!... Ordered Calamari that apparently I didnt get a pic of, but It was good also. I think we got wings, but I truly cant remember. I got the risotto, I didnt love it but the Shrimp were delish, it had a super strong after taste flavor that I didnt love but couldnt truly put my finger on, Hubby said his pasta was good, but just needed "something". Would def go back just not sure how often we'd be in the area. Drink menu was super extensive and they were great as well. Started to feel not well and literally had to take our food to go, the waitress was soo concerned and caring, it was great, and it was no fault of the food or theirs, I think it was just whatever cold I was coming down with that kicked my ass and I felt like I was going to pass out, sorry TMI... But the response was so nice and accommodating from the staff. Def worth a try, just be patient with parking, it was slightly chaotic, or that night we just happened to encounter all the people in the are who couldnt drive in tight spaces, LOL!

I would pass on the eggrolls im the future. The motz is advertised smoked but lacked a smoky flavor. The Harissa had the spice level simular to Heinz ketchup. My entree was a Cuban sandwich that did deliver some heat, well pressed with plenty of pickles. We would love to see a wider wine selection and a turn up on the spice and flavor for the appetizers.
