Signature salad with additional side of tzaziki.
Emily L.

Meh. Went to lunch at Risotto and had their signature salad. Service was incredibly slow. For $14, my salad featured two pieces of overlooked shrimp and some strips of chicken that was unbearable dry and burnt. The balsamic dressing had too much oil and not enough of a balance with the balsamic; the sundries tomatoes were a nice addition but got lost in the mediocre greens. One of my dining companions had the signature risotto; it was over cooked and over seasoned, basically a pile of mush. The environment seems like it would be fun for a happy hour, but the food was a disappointment.

Excellent upscale dining. Strong recommendation. We went on a weekday with all the regulars. Everyone was happy and having a great time.

Came here for a birthday dinner just in time to enjoy the last couple minutes of happy hour. The $3 house wines were a nice surprise! The ambience was very refined and the interior was nicely out together. The food was overall above average. The calamari was generously portioned and absolutely delicious. The crab cakes were also well seasoned and cooked. The larger plates were a bit disappointing relative to their price. Wasn't the biggest fan of the Duck risotto- the duck was delicious but the flavor of the risotto itself wasn't as well balanced as I was expecting it to be. The Surf and Turf entree was ok- the actual amount of salmon and proteins was rather small. More than half of the plate was just roasted potatoes. Overall I would rate the food 7/10. Definitely enjoyed the appetizers more than the entrees.

continental chicken and waffles

Wow what a great spot for a delicious brunch. I came here on a Saturday with a group of 4 others. When I arrived, we were the only ones in the restaurant which was surprising to me because they have a great brunch menu. I was having a hard time deciding what to order because there were so many great things to choose from. I decided to go with something a little different and got the continental chicken and waffles as well as the bottomless mimosas -for 11$ you really can't beat it. Our mimosas were served in really large goblets which is a good idea because I didn't have to worry about asking for a refill every 10 minutes. Our group also ordered the bacon, sausage and cheese risotto to split because it just sounded so good. They are called Risotto so their risotto better be amazing. When my meal arrived, it was really well presented. The chicken was nice and crisp but not too crisp and the waffle was good. The eggs on top were fluffy and the home fries had a nice kick to them. My only complaints would be to serve the syrup on the side only and not on top because this is a very rich dish if you put too much syrup on it. Also, the waffle was a bit small and could have been bigger. The risotto was one of the best things I've ever had for brunch. Seriously. Even as leftovers it was amazing - so much flavor. Overall, I thought it was a delicious meal. Definitely one of the best brunch spots in Albany if you are looking for unique and classic breakfast dishes. Prices were extremely reasonable considering the quality and taste of the food. Service was great and friendly and the atmosphere was nice. I am looking forward to coming back!

Tapas Bourbon PEI Mussels - w/sun-dried tomato, sweet bourbon cream, crispy bacon, and crostini.

It is only natural that if you go to a restaurant that has a particular dish as part of its name you would expect that dish to be the restaurant's specialty. So you try the pizza at Tony's Pizzaria, the oysters at the Otto's Oyster Bar, the ramen at Toshi's House of Ramen, and the pickles at Emma's Pickle Emporium. Right? Wrong! Or maybe we're just not a natural couple. We only tried food from the Tapas section of the menu on our first visit to Risotto, so we never got to try any of their risotto. Well, they did have four different preparations of this northern Italian rice dish, but the Tapas menu had about five times as many offerings of non-risotto dishes and many of them were singing out to us. So the risotto will just have to wait for the next visit. For the record, there were also about eight entrees that don't include risotto. The Tzatziki sauce in the Mediterranean Plate ($10) was excellent. This plate also included stuffed grape leaves, mixed olives, and a cherry pepper relish that were very good, and prosciutto wrapped melon that was just okay. The Falafel Plate ($7) had two large excellent falafel croquettes along with a very good roasted red pepper hummus and a very ordinary traditional hummus. The mussels in the Bourbon Mussels ($9) were tender but very small and my wife was turned off by the texture of the sun-dried tomatoes in the bourbon cream sauce. I thought that she might have thought the sauce was too sweet for her or that the bacon flavor was too predominant, but she was fine with those two characteristics, just as I was. The Stuffed Trio ($9) of braised pork and goat cheese stuffed piquillo pepper, crab and Gorgonzola stuffed mushroom, and panko encrusted deviled egg with horseradish cream, were all very good but not outstanding. Service was a tag-team of several individuals who were pleasant enough, but their coordination seemed very haphazard. However, we were able to promptly receive an additional basket of pita when we asked. Only bottled beer is available and pretty much run of the mill brands at that, the exception being a couple of hard ciders. The vinyl covering on our table seemed sticky in places and the noise level was very high in the small dining room we occupied. It was much too easy to hear the conversation of the foursome on one side and the twosome on the other without even trying to eavesdrop.

Lunch 2-Risotto Special. Short rib, bacon, cheese risotto on the left, vegetable risotto on the right!

Hidden gem somewhere in the middle of Albany! Wanting to get something good but not far from work, I found Risotto. Great looking menu selection and unique with Risottos and Mediterranean well prepared dishes. I got the lunch special of any 2 risottos and wish I could've tried them all. As I usually make risotto with mushrooms or asparagus, I had to try the vegetable risotto. It was then a difficult choice between the chicken and (3) cheese or the short rib, bacon, and cheese risotto. Settled on the latter and was rewarded with the greatest of flavors. All the pitas looked great, and even the soups and salads were creative without being eclectic. Will definitely repeat.

Rosanna's -- A Genuine Gem That Deserves Every Star There…read moreare restaurants you visit and forget, and then there are restaurants that stay with you long after the last bite. Rosanna's is firmly in the second category -- and after an exceptional dinner that left both of us completely satisfied and already planning our return visit, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. From the moment we walked in, the ambience set the tone for the entire evening. Warm, inviting and thoughtfully designed, Rosanna's strikes that rare balance between intimate and lively -- the kind of space that feels equally suited for a romantic dinner for two or a celebratory night out with people you love. The lighting is soft without being dim, the energy is buzzing without being overwhelming, and every detail of the room communicates that this is a place that genuinely cares about the experience it creates for its guests. The service matched the atmosphere perfectly. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu -- not in a rehearsed, corporate way but in the way that only happens when staff actually love where they work and believe in what they're serving. Questions were answered with confidence and warmth, dietary considerations were handled graciously and without any fuss, and the pacing of the meal felt exactly right. Not rushed, not forgotten -- just perfectly timed. It is the kind of service that makes you feel like a valued guest rather than just another table to turn over. Now the food -- where do we even begin. We started with the Shrimp Balls and they were an immediate knockout. Perfectly seasoned, beautifully presented and gone far too quickly. The arugula dip alongside them was bright and fresh -- a genuinely clever pairing that elevated what could have been a simple appetizer into something memorable. This dish alone would be worth coming back for. For mains we ordered the Wild Mushroom Risotto -- elevated with a grilled shrimp skewer addition that turned an already outstanding dish into a complete and deeply satisfying meal. The risotto was everything a great risotto should be -- creamy without being heavy, deeply savory with layers of earthy mushroom flavor, finished beautifully with truffled pecorino that added just the right amount of richness. The shrimp skewer on top was perfectly grilled, plump and fresh -- a brilliant pairing with the earthiness of the mushrooms. Our dining companion ordered the Boneless Beef Short Ribs which arrived tender, deeply flavorful and beautifully plated -- the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes on the first bite. What makes Rosanna's truly special is that everything works together -- the room, the service, the food and the overall feeling of being genuinely well taken care of. This is not a restaurant that relies on one strong element to carry the others. Every component earns its place. Whether you are celebrating something special, treating someone you love or simply in search of a great dinner in wonderful company -- Rosanna's delivers on every level. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. You will not regret it. And the pellegrino soda was great I got the blood orange! And we took the olive oil orange cake to go yum!

We went to Delmonico's Italian Steakhouse last weekend with a party of 10. Our group meets up once a month and tries a new place each time. I had been here once before over the summer and had a great experience then. That time we were seated in one of the alcove style rooms. It is not fully private but it definitely feels like your own space, and it added a lot to the atmosphere. The food and service were excellent on that visit, and the birthday person in our group loved the theming of the room. This time we were supposed to be seated in the Sinatra room. After our reservation time passed, the hostess came over and explained they had made a mistake with the room booking and it was not available. They moved us to a large table in the main dining area and offered us four appetizers on the house to make up for it. That immediately smoothed things over, and no one in our group had any issues after that. Mistakes happen, it is how a place handles them that matters, and they handled this very well. The main dining area has a nice ambience, but it is a bit noisy compared to the alcove spaces. Food wise, we had a wide range, steaks, chicken, veal, and some gluten free options. Most of the group had alcoholic drinks, while a few of us stuck with soda and water. One friend said the cola he got at the bar while we waited was flat and he skipped it after that. I tried a soda at the table and mine was fine. He later had a lemon lime soda, not sure if it was 7Up or Starry, and had no complaints, so it is possible they changed out the CO2 in between. Service really stood out. It is not easy to manage a table of 10, but our waitress was outstanding and very friendly. We were served in a timely manner, and several people commented on both the portion sizes and the quality of the meals. A few in our group even said they felt the pricing was a bargain for what you get. Overall, we will definitely be back. Scheduling errors and things out of the staff's control happen anywhere, but many places either do not apologize or do nothing to fix it. Here, they did both, and their solution was more than generous. Kudos to them. 4 stars.

Then the food... 2 of us ordered filet mignon it came out burnt and over done it looked like a burnt hamburger very thin (not the way a medium and medium rare filet should be obviously) Who let that even leave the kitchen! The waitress noticed right away and sent them back - manager came over and said oh sorry it depends on who's in the kitchen - what? Wow blew our minds -- ok so the next one came out still black but cooked a bit better - no filet should be black they apparently smooched it on a grill ugh! Our waiter made sure to take care of us and was helpful without being intrusive. When one of my friends spilled her wine he helped her clean up and replaced the wine. I tried a slice and it was very sweet with lots of creamy cheese flavor and a lot of arugula on top. My other companions had full portions of pasta dishes and seemed to enjoy them. We shared Arancini as an appetizer. That was my favorite bite of the night! As the waiter said they were addictive with smoked mozzarella and a good marinara to dip them in. We were served average Italian bread with olive oil pesto dip to start. The cocktail specials were very impressive . I ordered a seasonal maple bourbon drink. It was nicely bitter with touches of warm sweetness from the maple and orange slice. A nice festive experience. One of the owners/managers came over to see if we were enjoying ourselves.
